The Phoenix Force miniseries just keeps getting better with each new release. In the third book about a team of SEALs whose members have paranormal abilities, emotional risks are just as damaging as the physical threats. Two individuals will find themselves in grave danger from demons, and the choices they make will determine not only their futures but what will perhaps happen to humanity. Bonnie Vanak has created many notable romantic couples, and those in her Phoenix Force miniseries are some of the most endearing. DEMON WOLF is an extraordinary story of courage with an emotional impact that is not easily forgotten.
After enduring much brutality from of the demons holding him, Lt. Commander Dale Curtis has finally returned to his career as a navy SEAL. He was a very imposing Primary Elemental Mage in the past, but the torment he received from an unknown woman has weakened him in body and spirit. Those under his immediate command also possess some type of supernatural ability to help them defend others from malicious beings, and they know their leader is not strong like he once was but hope he recovers soon.
When Dale comes in contact with Keira Solomon, he senses there is something familiar about her yet has no idea what it could be. Since Keira needs his assistance to defeat the demons who forced her to harm him, she hopes the powerful Mage never remembers that she was the shape-shifter who tortured him. She gives Dale just enough information to get his agreement for her to work with him so his strength can be built up. Getting him to completely believe in her will be even more difficult for Keira than restoring his health, yet she must have his full cooperation or the demons will win again.
Evil creatures battle supernatural beings with noble intentions in the latest Phoenix Force novel, and I became totally caught up in the fight to save humanity from being controlled by demons. Bonnie Vanak makes every moment of DEMON WOLF seem conceivable though most scenes contain a magical element of some kind. The main couple has paranormal talents that can be used to stop demons from reaching their fiendish goals, and the self-sacrificing actions of Dale and Keira make them even more appealing. Some of their gifts are unique, and I enjoyed reading about such original traits as it made the story standout.
Not only is the fight between good and evil believable, but the love story filled with heartbreaking anguish is also realistically depicted. I wanted to cry at times because of all the agony, both mental and physical, suffered by Dale and Keira. Neither wanted anyone to experience harm, and what they did to keep this from happening just proved they are exceedingly fearless. Dale has what it takes to be an outstanding hero, because he puts others first while demonstrating special care and concern. All the debates Keira had with herself over concerns relating to Dale are particularly moving and showed her true nature. The sexual scenes between this couple are certainly steamy, and their responses to each other are beautifully conveyed with lots of genuine feelings. This appears to be the last book in the Phoenix Force miniseries, so I am grateful three very satisfying stories were released. Many of the characters from previous books make an appearance, making me even happier. DEMON WOLF engages every emotion imaginable.

Navy Seal commander Dale Curtis is a broken man, his life has been beyond dedicated to helping and saving people from evil and evil has finally worked its way into him. On a mission Dale sacrificed his own body to save an innocent, only to be left torn to pieces and on the brink of death. Kiera Solomon is the one who hurt him, but knowing he is the only one who can save her from enslavement she turns to him for help, only she can't reveal her true identity. The forced pain she inflicted on him is a constant ache in her heart and in order to save herself and him she has to find a way to cleanse his soul.
I tend to read a lot of romance novels, yeah I am just a hopeless romantic, and I would say that I would almost not characterize this in the same genre. This book and story had a great level of depth into the storyline, that most romance novels are lacking. This is an epic battle of good versus evil with a love story in it, rather than a love story with an epic battle. I want to differentiate so that as a reader your not expecting a complete bodice ripper, when your really getting a really great adult paranormal story. I would love to continue with this in the form of a series, but expand beyond the story of Dale and Kiera, to his entire team. The characters set up by Bonnie Vanak, really are intriguing and could easily be unique stories of their own.

This is an epic battle of good versus evil with a love story in it, it’s a great adult paranormal story. I would love to continue with this in the form of a series. The characters set up by Bonnie Vanak, really are intriguing and could easily be unique stories of their own.
I recommend this book, you will not be disappointed. With Bonnie Vanak, you cannot go wrong!

Keira Solomon was enslaved by demons and forced to torture brave, noble men, like Navy SEAL Dale Curtis. She hates it, but has no choice, and it takes everything she has to maintain her sanity and her inner light in between these torture sessions. After she'd tortured Dale, the demons who enslaved her vanished, but she knows they'll be back to finish Dale and that she'll have to help him if he's going to defeat them. Dale has no memory of Keira, but knows that a demon wolf tortured him and he wants to find her and destroy her. Keira lives and works as his housekeeper and psi-therapist, trying to bring back his strength so that he'll be ready to face the demons and maybe free her from enslavement in the process. But if he finds out who she really is, she's certain he'll never forgive her.
This was a very exciting book. I don't think it requires having read other books in this universe, but it would certainly help to know what a Draicon is and all the other supernatural beings that are mentioned. The set up here was very interesting and angsty, since Keira is loaded down with guilt for her part in Dale's current condition and his bitterness and she and the reader know that Dale is going to be completely unforgiving once he knows who she is. And Keira really is likeable, so when you know the big reveal is coming, it's suspenseful. And all of it was handled really well, IMHO, right up until the epilogue, which kinda fizzled for me. Talk about a lack of emotional punch. It needed SO much more.

Clearly written by someone who doesn't understand real love, or at least that was how the novel felt to me. Keira is incapable of truth. She lies to herself all the time, telling herself she'll tell Dale the truth, but she never does until it is almost too late. And Dale, despite the big song and dance made about him being a navy SEAL, he is in complete denial about the truth himself. He lies to himself, talks about self-sacrifice and all the honour of being a SEAL without showing any sense, rationality or reason. He tricks her into taking her blood, but he never uses it to gain the truth from her. I found the book irritating. I liked the plot and tried desperately to read to the end, but by the last few pages the sheer cloying bullshit of it was too much for me. Such a great pity because the ideas behind the book and the series are really good.

Bonnie Vanak has done it again with the 3rd book Demon Wolf of the Phantom Force Series. Strong Characters make this story stand out because of the way this book intwines with the 1st book Covert Wolf and the 2 sc.book Phantom Wolf . You defiantly need to read in order.
