The Contract #2

Black Feather Fever

Rate this book
Michael is gone, but he has not been forgotten.

Another has taken his place. This one is a dark angel with the same contractual obligations but working without the reserve Michael had.

As the violence ramps up, innocent are now becoming victims of the angelic rampage. Special Agent Adam Symes is tasked with the mission to locate and stop the Black Feather Fever killings, like he did once before, with the White Feather Fever investigation.

However, Symes has his own demons to contented with.

His insatiable sexual appetite, and his animal magnetism to the opposite sex is growing in strength, and it has borne fruit. Babies are being born to this world, babies that are… different.

There is only George Cox, Symes' ex-partner, who along with a vengeful reverend know Symes' secret, the one that is hidden even from him. They are on the hunt for Agent Symes, and they hope find him before the dark angel can.

This contract is not yet fulfilled...

I love horror, and I love Christmas. Some would say that the two are not mutually associated, I would tell you different.

I started writing at Christmas, back in the days of yore. I was reading The Night Before Christmas, by Clement Clarke Moore to my daughter who was too excited to sleep. But, I used my secret weapon, my boring voice she was soon catching the right amount of zzzzz's... As I tiptoed out of the room, giving Santa the space he needed to do his bit, I thought to myself, you know what? I could write something like that...

So I did...

The good Behaviour Act was written, the first story in Interesting Tymes, my very first publication.

I live in sunny Liverpool in the UK with my partner and daughters, I used to work in IT but don't anymore, and am the happier person for it. I love football, music and film... I also enjoy long walks, pretty flowers, and gratuitous violence and nudity...

The gore in this was top-notch. It's definitely a bit more than book 1. Also, the smex scenes were insane. Definitely the kind of scenes to get you hot and bothered....okay. mostly bothered. Yikes and ouch is all I'm gonna say!!

Even with the gore and insanity, the story didn't suffer. It's one of my favorite things about every McCluskey book I have grabbed so far... sure it's often bloody... maybe disturbing. But under all that is always a damn good story.

So basically, Book 2 was fantastic!! I can honestly say I have no clue where we go from here or what to even expect from book 3...but boy am I excited!!

I received a copy in exchange for an honest review.

My arc review of black feather fever by de mckluskey. So first off, thank you a lot for the chance to read it before it comes out. Means a lot to me.
Now this is my very first arc read, so dont lynch me. I wont go into any spoilers when it comes to this book.

This is simply put a direct sequel to the contract, a book i very much liked.
The ending had me excited for the new main chararacter, judging by his name i was hoping for him being more brutal than his predecessor.
And boy.. Did it deliver...
I absolutely loved the new main character. While the previous one at least had SOME morals when it came to innocent people dying, the new one just doesnt care at all.
Giving way to so much more brutality than the contract did.

I judge a book by how much it keeps pulling me towards it to keep reading. I read through this in less than 2 days. That almost never happens with a book this length. All i wanted to do was to keep going and know what was going to happen next.

I can add this to a already awesome list of books from this author.

And no, mr mckluskey did not pay me for this review 😉

Michael has gone and been replaced by Lucifer, who is killing criminals and innocent people. FBI agent Adam Symes is back but has a dark side. His ex, partner Cox, now retired, is also back as an advisor to a Reverend who has his own agenda, a fantastic horror/thriller sequel to the contract.

I was highly anticipating this novel because I enjoyed The Contract so much. The book did not disappoint. From the very first chapter to the last page, many things came to light in the age old fight of good vs. evil. This book was much more graphic in the descriptions of fight scenes and SA of women but not vulgar. I felt the whole point was to portray how well Symes had been corrupted; to the point where he no longer questioned what he was doing. Even in moments of lucid awareness, Symes was unable to break the hold. I knew there would be a final battle and some people would not make it through the fight. I felt sorrow the most for the women who were left with a child they may or may not have remembered how they conceived such child. I cannot imagine how the world would change with the knowledge that there were part human part angel children. Would the professors program be able to keep track of the offspring? Would there be another amendment to civil rights to protect these new ‘humans’? I am sure there will be another book that answers what will become of these ‘special’ children. 5 star read.

I went into this book straight after reading the first one as I needed to know what happened next, but I did not expect that!!
In my opinion this is better than the first book, not only because of the development of the plot, but also because of how the characters change, and how several threads come together perfectly.

Amidst all the brutality and gore, the plot is a solid one, full of action and thrilling moments, with the same events described from different points of view (giving the reader a bird eye perspective), and some scenes worthy of the big screen!

In full McCluskey’s writing style is not all doom and gloom, with light hearted moments and dark humour peppered throughout. I’ll be patiently awaiting for the last instalment of this gory and gripping trilogy that will have you question what you believe or don’t believe in!

Thanks to the author for a copy and this is my honest opinion.

Thanks so much for the honour of being one of the first to read this Dave. I'm not going to go into the plot as it just spoils it for people.

You must read the first book first and it will surely get you hooked and in need of this book. It's a trilogy I'll give that much away and I'm so looking forward to the third one already!!

As per usual Dave writes a fast paced novel which doesn't let up. All his books follow that same premise, there is no boring build up you're hooked from the start. I honestly don't know why he's not bigger in the world of books. Sounds like he has the luck I had with music and I'm talented 😉

I'll read this and the previous one again before the next one comes out and to be honest I'm already looking forward to that. 10/10 fuck that 5⭐ thing it's a TEN. Get it when it comes out, pre order NOW. (Oh read the first one before as well!)

I read this book in 2 days. After reading the first one, just before this one so I wouldn't forget anything, I was completely entranced. Having read only Zola and Cravings by D E McCluskey, I didn't know what I was in for. The story followed right after the end of the first one. It continues off with Agent Cox on a hiatus from the FBI, while symes is struggling with his overactive sex drive and his loss of time. With new archangel Lucifer taking over the contract from Michael, Lucifer spares no one's lives. He enjoys killing the innocents just as much as the contracted. The murders and rapes were bloody and gory. But this kept me on the edge of my seat, never boring, wondering how they'd catch Lucifer and Symes. And all those BABIES! This is a book I'm gonna recommend to all my friends.

Black Feather Fever by D.E. McCluskey
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
This is the 2nd book in the series and wow, it was fantastic! The story has it all; action, mystery, thrills, gore, violence and even Lucifer!
This book is super intense and very well written! I was completely hooked from the start. Michael, with his white feathers, has been replaced with Lucifer, and his black feathers. FBI agent Symes is back in this 2nd book to try and stop the killer, but enters into the dark side too. There’s a ton of sex and lots of babies being born from his “special” seed.

Thank you to D.E. McCluskey for an arc of this amazing book! It’s a great series!

Book 1- The Contract (out now)
Book 2, Black Feather Fever. (This new one comes out October 31st! )
*A must read for both!!!* 😇👿

Black Feather Fever by DE McCluskey is a gripping and imaginative with supernatural elements that kept me hooked from start to finish. The characters were vivid and the dialogue sharp. The story overall offers a refreshing twist on classic crime fiction. McCluskey’s ability to build tension and suspense makes this book hard to put down, I will be thinking about the unexpected twists for a long time! One of my top 5 books for sure, I highly reccomend this to anyone looking for something unique and thrilling!

He does it again! At the end of the contracted you will be dying to read this one. And my god when you think the killings have stopped IT DOESNT. This book grabs you by the goonies and swings you around mercilessly then let’s go. While you are gathering your thoughts another twist comes round the bend. I cannot rate these 2 books highly enough. They ARE longer books but the way they are written so well you will blast through the pages

The first book, The Contract, was an excellent, exciting read, and I couldn't wait for the sequel. And I can say, it does not disappoint. The book is non-stop action and kept me reading all day through chemo until I finished. Just when I thought I knew what was going to happen, I was surprised yet again. I highly recommend this book. I have no idea where the third book will go, but I hope it won't take too long to find out.

This one was just as fun as the first. It was nice to have a better understanding of Agent Symes’s situation. As promised, Lucifer turned out to be far less patient than Michael. The devastation he inflicted was insane! At least with Michael you didn’t feel so bad for the people because they were filth and had it coming to them. Lucifer gives no f$&@s and will take down everyone in his path. The ending was satisfying and a good conclusion to this hellish ride!

The sequel to The Contract by D.E. McCluskey.

This book picks up right where the first one ended. With Michael now gone he’s been replaced by Lucifer. There’s more violence this time around and innocence being taken. This book is fast-paced much like the first one and surely won’t disappoint those who enjoyed the first book.

I had the opportunity to read Black Feather Fever by Dave, and it did not disappoint! Michael may be gone, but there is someone there to take his place. This was the perfect continuation to The Contract! If you haven’t read that one first, I highly recommend it as well. Black Feather Fever is fast paced, and hits with a bang! Can’t wait to read the next one!

Another suspensful book in a series by C William Giles and DE McCluskey. It is now a race against time to stop the horrific and gory killings by an angel name Lucifer before more innocent people become victim. Micheal has returned home, but there is still a job to be finished. Just as Micheal, Lucifer is leaving black feathers act as a calling card. Some of the FBI have become open to the idea that they maybe dealing with a dark, possibly otherworldly entity behind the murders, while others still believe they are tracking a serial killer.
After the traumatic event of meeting Micheal and seeing his plan, cox leaves the FBI to try and solve this supernatural disaster. Cox believes he is closer than ever to finding the fornicator, and he is recruiting the help of Dr. Bloom again, and a pastor he has met online.
This second book of the series is a lot more dark and gory than the first. The descriptions of the death and what happens to these poor women were very detailed and in depth. If you don’t mind those things , then this book is for you. I unfortunately just found it too much for myself. I found my self skipping parts because it became too much for me. My rating isn’t necessarily for it being a bad book, just not my cup of tea like the first one was. I really enjoyed the first book and wanted some closure for the characters you meet in the first book.

This is the sequel to the book I reviewed yesterday, The Contract, and eeeek… it was fantastic. For a girthy boy, I binge read the hell out of it real quick. 👏🏼

It’s super fast paced, full of action, still gives the thriller aspect with a solid plot and horror elements etc, and it picks up where the first one left off—so definitely read number one first. If you enjoyed, The Contract, then you’ll love this one. 🤌🏼

I said yesterday in my review how much I love McCluskey’s range when it comes to his writing, and yet again, he showcases it brilliantly in this book. I need number 3 asap! 🥲

After reading The Contract I couldn't wait to read this sequel. The introduction of Lucifer at the end of The Contract had me intrigued in how the next book would go.
Michael and Lucifer are vastly different. Michael did not hurt an innocent but would brutally kill evil. Lucifer will brutally kill evil but he will not rescue or spare the innocents.
Agent Symes and Cox are again following the string of suspicious murders but there's something else odd happening. Children are being born with some odd features but they must be stopped for the good of the future.
D.E. McCluskey has done it again with an unputdownable novel!

Special Agent Adam Symes thought things would get better after he stopped the White Feather Fever Killings. He was wrong. Something has taken Michael's place and it does not care who it kills. Fast paced thriller.
