I would say it's a nice steamy romance, but I wont. It's full with repetation. Repetation which sometimes does not make sense.

Captain Sawyer Berkeley is a badass soldier, she knows her way in the arctic, but to this specific training she wants a meteorologist. We will never know why she asked for Lieutenant Mirren Reed, but she asked.

Spoilers ahead, why the books didn't make sense to me.


Smartly they check the surrounding before the training begins. There are storm clouds on the way and during Lt. Reed checks the weather readings, but none of them thinks that there shall be storm.

They arrive, it's nice, there is food and wood for the training with a group, so they stay the night.

The storm is in arriving and they want to stay in the cabin. They check the weather and how much food they have, multiple times a day. It's getting colder, the sky is darker, but they stay, maybe the storm goes away.

I have no idea, how they have electricity for the weather instruments and for the notebook: they are running for hours. They can't call the base, but sometimes it seems to me that Lt. Reed reads the weather info from the base, which is hours away. With a car. I have no idea what kind of communication this could be.

The storm is quite big, so they decide to leave the cabin. During the storm.
I really don't know why, the food seems to be enough (they also check it 3 times a day), and there should have been enough wood (or sometimes fuel, I'm not sure anymore how they heat...) to heat for the upcoming training. It also seams to me, that the car is not ready for this kind of weather, and if the car would stop in this weather, they would die. Noone thinks about this, but that's not a problem, b/c the car won't start, so they stay one more night.

The roof collapses, they have to leave, so they leave at the high of the storm on foot.

Of course they almost die, hyperthermia is a b*tch, but they arrive at a 2nd cabin. At least they feel that 400 yard in freezing temperature and strong wind is a lot more far away.

They somehow call a heli-rescue. Rescue appears. During the storm. HOW?

This is a great story, one that seems to be real!

The characters are well developed and very believable. It was particularly interesting to watch their inner driving forces not only help them to survive the challenges of an Arctic storm, but helping them to see each other in new ways.

I always end up wanting more from Emily Hayes' books. They're fun, spicy and always have a HEA. This one was no exception. Gotta love em in uniform 😍
