Durata: 6 ore e 30 min

1.5 stars rounded up to 2

This book is boring with flat characters who don’t have chemistry at all. I never felt their connection or their passion. I didn’t feel their love. It was not convincing.

The guy was into her the moment he laid eyes on her but she was his best friend’s girl so he chose to be an ass towards her, humiliating her at every chance. She always thought he hated her but never knew the reason.

When she is dumped in an unfashionable way by her ex, our hero continues to be mean to her for a while. His excuse is that he lost his sister and he is in pain. He reminded me of the little boys in the kindergarten, who pull the hair of the girls they like. He is so immature and mostly a dick. The way he criticizes her makes her insecure. And his mocking her low salary was a low blow. I hated him when he accused her of being with his friend for his money. Ok he was angry then but still that was a dick move. Sometimes I didn’t understand if he was trying to find excuses for himself to hate her or if he really was that much of a dick to think like that.

When he suddenly starts to treat her right and decides to win her heart, she immediately starts to get wet in his presence, which is something I hate. Come on girl, have a backbone and make him suffer for how he treated you for a year. He says it was because he wanted her and couldn’t have her and she forgives him so quickly.

*********************************************

Their relationship starts while they are staying at a summer house with 5 other friends. It was a holiday her ex planned and even though he left her and went to Singapore, she still went to that summer house with a girl friend of hers to have a nice holiday and stayed with her ex’s friends. At least, they were all friendly with her. Except our dick hero, of course.

Whatever, when their relationship starts, they keep it as a secret from their friends, which made me hate it. I hated that he was afraid of their reaction because her ex was his best friend. Keeping her a secret hurt her and when he finally understood it, he rectified it but it was too late in my opinion.

Also, I hated something else. During some weekdays, they stayed in the city in their own houses, and at the weekends, they went to the summer house. When their relationship starts, the first sex is at the summer house and everyone hears them. It could have been in her or his house in the city but they chose to do it in the summer house and I don't understand why. If you want to keep it a secret, then, do it in a private place where you can keep it as a secret, right?

And in the morning, when they ask him who he brought home (as they were loud and all their friends heard them), he says he brought some girl and then when they ask him where she is, he says he doesn't like clingy girls around so he sent her back after he was finished with her. And every time he has sex with her in that summer house, he speaks to his friends about a non-existent woman who he just f*cks and sends away. This really hurts her.

*********************************************

The plot twist which caused a few weeks’ of separation was forced and unnecessary. Also, it was ugly how he treated her when he got angry. He said lots of offensive words. I would never trust a guy like him. I would never forgive him, either.

*********************************************

As in all books where the heroine is dating her ex’s best friend, the ex of course comes back and wants another chance with her. I was expecting it to happen and I wasn’t surprised. I was just disappointed by how badly those parts were written. It felt as if the writer was also bored by her boring book and wanted to end it asap so she just made a poor execution of that scene.

*********************************************

I am not happy with their happy end because I don’t trust the guy. Up until the end, he was bitter about her being in his best friend’s bed before she was in his bed and made a lot of fuss about it. He complained that while he was in love with her, she was in love with his best friend. He was such a cry baby about it. I believe he will bring it up every chance he has, during every fight. He is that kind of a man.

*********************************************

Shortly, I didn’t like this book. I neither liked the characters nor the story. In addition to that, the writing is not special. Moreover, there are too many story fillers so I had to skip a lot of pages.

*********************************************

Safety: Well, there is no OW/OM after they start dating but she dated his best friend for a year while he was in love with her all that time. Of course, the hero wasn't celibate while he was lusting for her. He had sex with other women trying to forget her. It all left a bitter taste in my mouth.

Writing: Dual point of view

Length: 260 pages

Love at First Fight is a contemporary standalone romance novel by Carrie Aarons. Told in dual perspectives. In this we meet school teacher Molly Archer and restaurateur Smith Redfield.

Molly had big plans to spend the summer in the Hamptons with her best friend, boyfriend and his circle of friends. But then her boyfriend completely blindsides her when he dumps her and moves to Singapore. Now she's not so sure she should go on the trip, but her best friend convinces her to go. That it will be good for her to get out and have a little fun.

Smith has been in love with Molly since the day he met her. The only problem? She's his best friend's girl. So in order to keep his feelings in check, he pretends to hate her. Fast forward one year and a lot has changed. Molly is now single and sharing a house with him and his friends. And the more he's around her, the harder it is to keep up this charade.

I absolutely loved Molly and Smith. Both were so passionate about their work. Smith was opening up his third restaurant and Molly was helping those children in need. And I was so happy to see them get their HEA after all that they had been through. Her going through a rough break up and him grieving the loss of a loved one.

I can hardly put into words just how much I loved this book. I love every novel that Carrie writes but this one is, hands down, my new favorite. It is packed with so many feels. I smiled. I laughed. I cried. And I fell in love with Smith right alongside Molly. Five stars and more for Molly, Smith and Love at First Fight!

FIVE FIGHT STARS for Molly and Smith 💛🧡💛🧡!!!

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

After a great college romance, Carrie brought us another interesting but this time contemporary romance.

"Love at First Fight" is a contemporary romance with enemies to lovers trope.

Molly is a female character who has an incredible passion for her job as a teacher.

But her life breaks down when her boyfriend leaves her as he went to live on the other side of the world.

Smith is a male character who, like Molly, has a passion for his job.

He fell in love with Molly the first time he saw her, but he had to change his feelings because she was his friend's girlfriend.

So, he decided to hate her.

But that changes when her relationship comes to an end.

Molly and Smith's relationship is everything!

In the beginning, they hate each other, but as the story progresses, their hatred slowly fades and love for each other appears.

If you love contemporary romance and you're also a fan of Carrie's books, then you should definitely read this one!!!

Highly recommended!!!

Below average.
It was fast paced. But the characters and the storyline altogether were boring. I did not see any chemistry between the two characters.

This book was pure happiness. I swear I had the biggest smile on my face 99% of the time. It was cute and a really good summer read. Smith is definitely my type. I’m always joking about kidnapping a cute Italian cook, but bro… I don’t think it’s a joke anymore. Molly was very sweet, maybe a little too innocent but I loved how she learned from her relationships and in the end, knew what was best for her and what she was worth. Definitely recommend it, as always.

The first chapter was alright and what drew me in, but it was all downhill from there. Flat characters. Nonexistent chemistry. The story follows the stereotypical hot guy (who seems mean but somehow actually isn't) who meets the unremarkable and docile girl next door who's special because she only needs 5 minutes to get ready compared to an hour like the other girls he's been with (that's almost a literal quote from the book), because obviously sHE's Not LiKE oTHeR giRLs. And this guy is so baffled that she can't possibly see that he's been interested in her for months when he spent ALL that time going out of his way to be nasty toward her. Obviously she must have not gotten the memo that when a guy is mean to you and treats you horribly that just means he's very into you.
Yeah. No thanks. Needless to say, there are better romance novels out there that don't pit women against each other because a man can only appreciate a love interest if she somehow doesn't behave like "those other girls".
My advice: find a different book that does not perpetuate pathetic stereotypes that men are allowed to hurt women as long as they are sexually attracted to each other.

I know, I know, it's JUST a book and not that serious, but this was a real waste of my time.

Apparently book TikTok is a thing. The author did a clever TikTok that got me to read this book. It was pretty enjoyable. Basically, Smith, the hero, has pretty much loved Molly since he saw her and his defense mechanism was to treat her poorly.

Not in the mood to write a longer review but the book was good.

Love at First Fight was sweet and emotional enemies to lovers romance, the one that I entirely enjoyed and loved!

I finished this book in one sitting. From beginning to end I loved and enjoyed every minute I've spent reading it, and I really didn't want it to end.
Molly and Smith are one of those couples who are meant to be together. One of those couples that will have you swooning over them and rooting for them right from the start.
I loved them as individuals and together.
They were both amazing characters and it's not enough to say that I just love them.

I’m not going to talk about what’s happening in this book, you get the idea just from reading the blurb, all I can say is that I loved it and that I cannot recommend it enough!

I’m in love with Carrie’s writing style. She quickly became one of my favorite authors and I can’t wait to see what she has next in store for us!

I’m always excited to start a new Carrie Aarons book and Love at First Fight was the perfect summer read. It was such a fast-paced and well-written story and it was so hard to put this book down. I very enjoyed this book and loved Molly and Smith’s story. It was so much more than a enemies to lovers story, it was a beautiful and heartfelt journey to a HEA.

What starts of as an enemies to lovers story, it slowly but surely becomes a true romance that had all the heartwarming feels, the heartache, steamy passion, grief, but above all else, the love. I really enjoyed reading about these two characters, and their banter, the sparks that flew between and the slow burn hate which turned into a slow burn love. It wasn’t an easy journey and there were a few bumps along the way, but their road to happiness was well worth it.

This was another fabulous read from Carrie Aarons, and I adore her writing. I loved this book and devoured it in one day. I can’t wait to see what comes next from Carrie.

2.5 Molly & Smith Stars

This story centres around a girl , Molly , who has broken up with her ex boyfriend a month earlier. He dumped her in a very crass way and they had planned to spend Summer in the Hamptons with his best friends. Molly decides that as she had already invested in the holiday rental that she would go. Smith Redfield is her ex’s best friend & he has loved Molly from day one but never said anything. Molly has no clue and he is awful to her in order to cover up his attraction to her.

There are lots of positive reviews for this book and at the start I thought I was going to like it but I really struggled to connect with the characters, both main and secondary. It just felt , for me, like something was missing. The way Smith acted at times with his harsh words put me off. I like reading conflict but I just didn’t like him very much.

HEA? Yes
Cheating? No

Despite being unexpectedly dumped by her boyfriend an hour before his flight to Singapore, Molly decides to continue their originally planned trip to the Hamptons solo.

Renting a summer house with your ex-boyfriends’ friends is awkward enough, and with Smith Redfield, the man who hates you, just down the hall? The vacation couldn’t get worse.

While this starts as a slight enemies to lovers scenario, Smith has been harbouring feelings towards Molly since their first introduction, unable to act on it with her dating his best friend. Insta-love hardly ever sits well with me, and since it’s used partially as an excuse for his past rudeness, it was the one aspect of this romance I didn’t enjoy.

Otherwise, I really enjoyed this. Smith certainly grovelled his way into Molly’s heart and I appreciate that she didn’t immediately forgive. As they travel back and forth from the Hamptons throughout the summer, I liked seeing glimpses of their personal lives as a teacher and restaurant entrepreneur.

Overall, this was such a sweet, second chance romance between two people that simply met at the wrong time in their lives. I’m so glad I picked it up!

reading this reminded me of how fortunate i am to have read good books

1) the writing is bad. like it pained me to read it. there was no flavor AND it was all told straight up to you. like we got the characters entire life story when we first meet them. not only does that not give enough time to truly get to know a character and grow to love them, but it also left the rest of the book really bland

2) the book compares itself to jane eyre??? huh???

3) i hate both of the characters. they annoyed me so much

4) this dude fell in love with her… without ever having a conversation with her… make it make sense

Molly was excited to spend the summer outside NYC at a beach house with her boyfriend until he breaks up with her only days before to travel internationally solo. But since Molly already paid for her share of the house, she goes anyway, even though she’ll be spending the summer with a house full of her ex’s friends, including Smith, who absolutely hates Molly’s guts.

If Molly believes Smith can’t stand her presence, Smith’s job is done. Smith has had a thing for Molly ever since his best friend started dating her a year ago and Smith has tried to shake his feelings for her ever since with an abundance of venomous words. But now that Molly is single and right under Smith’s nose for the summer, his resolve weakens and he can’t help but act on his attraction to Molly, which comes as a huge surprise to her.

Smith & Molly couldn’t be more different. She’s a school teacher to underprivileged youth, waiting tables on the side to pay the bills. She’s a pure soul and has a lot of love to give. Smith is a self-made man and restauranteur. He’s full of grief and is a cynic more than anything. But together, Molly & Smith somehow just work. Their only problem? How to keep their relationship a secret from the rest of the house for the summer…

Love at First Fight by Carrie Aarons is an enemies to lovers meets opposites attract romance that’s forbidden & perfect to read in the summertime. I really enjoyed Molly & Smith’s romance. It had great pacing and I could feel the chemistry between them. Even though Smith started out as a jerk, he redeemed himself & made up for his a-hole behavior along the way. There was also a good amount of groveling on his behalf at the end, if you are a sucker for that like I am. Overall a really good romance! 4/5 stars.

It’s a simple enemies to lovers book. I haven’t read much of this trope, but I loved it. Honestly this book was much better than I thought it would be. It kept me pulled in. The main guy, Smith, is SO SWEET once you get to know the real him. Like he says and does the sweetest things. The one thing I didn’t like though was how mean he was to Molly in the beginning. The whole “I had to be a jerk to her because I had to hide my real feelings” thing was just not it for me. I get that is part of the enemies to lovers thing but some things were really uncalled for. The guy being kind of a jerk to the girl thing only works for me to an extent. But I honestly enjoyed the story overall.

What a delightful heartwarming enemies to lovers story. Molly is a school teacher was recently dumped by her boyfriend. She is spending the summer at a house rental with her ex’s friends including his best friend. This story was such a delightful read watching people learn what is important to them and realizing the growth they are in need of. This book takes your heart on a ride with the animosity, friendships and just enough heat

This book made me grin like a fool so much. Carrie Aarons really knows how to write and deliver a true romance.

Love at First Fight may be an enemies to lovers romance, but Carrie gives us a story that delves so much deeper than that.

Molly is a teacher at an inner-city school that is underfunded and most of the kids who attend are underprivileged and don't have the best homes. She's one of those teachers who does everything they can to make sure those kids have what they need, get nutrition they need and feel loved. She's also always running herself to the bone in order to fund all these needs and still be able to live on her own in the city.

Smith works with his partner owning two restaurants and is getting ready to open up another place. He's dedicated to his job to the point, it's his whole life. He's also best friends with Molly's ex. He's loathed her from the first time they met and never wanted to really to get to know her.

And now they are stuck in the same house in the Hamptons for the summer. Bring on the awkwardness and good times!!

I will tell you that you think you know where this story goes, but you could not be more wrong. Carrie really wrote a unique enemies to lovers story. There is a lot of heartfelt and genuine moments that made this story all the more authentic. Her characters are deep and you have this connection with them that makes this book all the more real.

Love You At First Fight is told from both Molly & Smith's POV. It really helps bring the story full circle when you see everything from both perspectives. But what also made this story so beautiful was how raw and real these characters came across. I loved that their actions, inner dialogue and interactions were so true to life. Nothing was outlandish or out of character for either of them. The story moved at the perfect pace for me.

Carrie Aarons, you have once again, blown me away with your amazing cast of characters and a story line that's so pure and beautiful. For someone who can be easily bored with romantic stories that don't have a lot of suspense in them, you make me want to read them over and over.

Wonderful!

This is so much more than just a enemies to lovers story. It’s a heartfelt read that deals with dealing with grief. And the way the author told her story was absolutely beautiful.

Molly and Smith are great characters. She thinks he hates her there’s so much more then meets the eye. I love their banter and the sparks definitely fly. I devoured this and totally feel in love with the story and all the characters. You’ll want to check this one out!

Love at First Fight
is enemies-to-lovers standalone Romance about Molly and Smith.

I’m always excited to start a new Carrie Aarons book and Love at First Fight was the perfect book to read! I have been in somewhat of a reading slump, I haven’t been reading that much, but Love at First Fight changed everything. Love at First Fight was such a fast-paced and well-written read, it was so hard to put this book down. I enjoyed reading this book and discovering more about Molly and Smith!

I really love Molly, she’s such a kind person and she gives so much to children in need. I think she’s such a loving character and I’d definitely be friends with her. When I first read about Smith, I knew that I was going to fall for him. I immediately knew that his mean behaviour towards Molly was an act and that he really loved her, but I didn’t mind. I loved how they grew towards each other and I really loved reading about them.

Love at First Fight was such a good Romance read and I didn’t expect anything else from Carrie Aarons. She’s such an amazing author and I loved every book I’ve read by her. I’m glad that I read this book during my reading slump because I think it’s finally over! I really recommend reading Love at First Fight if you’re looking for an addictive and quick enemies-to-lovers read!

Good but predictable

I really enjoyed this book. I loved the connection between Molly and Smith and everyone else. I liked that you didn't make him the egocentric millionaire that I see in a lot of other stories. I liked both of these characters and their personalities. The fact that they're both kind hearted and centered around solid family connections made this book a great read. I do have some issues with the storyline and that's why it's not a 5/5 for me. Personally I do like the fact that Molly stood up for herself in the conflict scenarios and that she spoke her mind and was true to herself. But I think the enemies to lovers aspect of the story fell a little bit short for me. I know they weren't really enemies and that Smith loved her from day one but I felt like maybe they went from animosity to mushy feelings a little too fast... would've loved to see the tensions build for longer. I also felt like the plot line where her ex comes back and asks for her back wasn't made to be a bigger deal when it could've been the ultimate conflict in the plot. Their fight and separation felt a little lackluster. This story was very sweet with relatable characters and I enjoyed it a lot. Just felt the plot was missing some tension that would've made the end result all the more rewarding. Also there were a few typos. Overall though a solid book. I found this author on Tiktok and read this all in one sitting which says a lot(:

Honestly, this book was a pretty big disappointment. It felt a little preachy about how a “healthy” relationship should look and I think the story kinda missed the mark because of it.

The enemies to lovers part happened so quickly I would absolutely not categorize this book as that at all. There was no drama, nothing really happened.

And the absolute WORST part of it was that most of the interesting stuff WASNT INCLUDED IN THE STORY. I remember one part when she was talking to someone, having a conversation I was looking forward to the second I picked the book up AND IT HAPPENED OFF-SCREEN. Instead, we got a scene of her packing and telling us how the conversation went. And that happened soooooo many times in the book.

It both felt like it was over and under edited. Too much stuff was cut out and replaced with telling narration while at the same time, so much of what was actually show Could have been left out and was just horribly boring navel gazing.

The good parts

- very few grammatical errors
- the writing was pretty good
- it was actually a health relationship (even though it felt preachy)

I really would not recommend this book.

This book is being added to my collection of Carrie Aarons books because it’s just amazing.

It’s the perfect book to read as summer comes to an end.
Smith was just freakin dreamy. In the beginning he was so mean to Molly, but when you get inside his mind, you see why he’s being mean to her. His mind was my favorite to be in because you get why he does what he does. He’s literally in love with his best friends ex-girlfriend.

Molly is by far my favorite heroine that Carrie has written. I love how gentle and caring she is, but also has a fire in her.
Seeing Smith and Molly’s relationship unfold was so beautiful! Even though they both kept misreading the situation and all the obstacles they faced, their chemistry still pulled them towards each other.

The setting was dreamy, we got the vacation and their everyday life and I adored that so much.

The friend group was amazing and they were so much fun to read too. 💛💛
