This story has so much potential, I can't wait to see what happens next!!!

The book is about Kennedy, an orphan who bounced around her whole life trying to figure out where she came from. She comes home one day to find a stranger in her apartment there to take her back "home". She finds out she was born in a realm of magic!
We follow her as she is enrolled into a magic academy where she learns how to use her magic that she had never experienced before. And as she navigates her way trying to find out about who her parents are and how she ended up on Earth.

The first half of the book was a little slow for me and I couldn't really get into it. The only reason I didn't DNF was because the premise was too interesting not to stick it out and see where it was all gonna go. And I'm glad I did!
I feel like the supporting characters are written so well! I became attached to them all, probably more so than the FMC, Kennedy. Kennedy I didn't start to like til the last third of the book. I compare it to how I felt about Bella in Twilight. Alot of inner monologue and being a whiny Eeyore. When I assumed she would start to be like "OK, time to kick ass" she stayed second guessing everything and didn't really come into her own til the last third of the book.
Of course the book ends on a cliffhanger I never saw coming, right when the action starts happening! Can't wait for the next book!

Arcana, ARcana, ARCANA!!!!!

This BOOOOOKKK!! I could not read it fast enough! Every time I finished a chapter, I just needed MORE!!

I ABSOLUTELY LOVED Kennedy from the very beginning! I loved all of her questions about the new realm, because let’s face it, if you got swept away to whole new world, you’d have a ton of questions too. She is witty and snarky. And has a whole fiercely protective side that we see come out as she grows!!

My only issue is I wish I could read it for the first time, over and over again!!

AN ABSOLUTE MUST READ FOR ANYONE WHO LOVES FANTASY!!

I found myself another five star read!
The writing style and pacing were on point!
The world building, the magic system, the characters are all Fantastic. It takes a certain kind of book that makes me forget that i am reading and completely consumes me, and Arcana is that book, i stayed up into the early hours of the morning just to finish it! And the ending had me sobbing 😭

I love the characters,
Aarond is certainly a cheeky one 🤣
I haven't read a side character that made me love them almost more then the main character in a long time!
And Serresa is a mean girl you love to hate!
I also love the FMC Kennedy's character development throughout the book

Warning! This book leaves you on a cliffhanger that will have you flipping pages for MORE!

Kennedy is confused and apprehensive when she's thrust into a world of magic and possibilities. She's given the proverbial new kid treatment and struggles to find her place.

I am a self-proclaimed non-fantasy reader, but this book made me a liar. The magic system is so interesting, and I wanted more at the end of every chapter.

I loved characters, I hated characters, the storyline kept me wanting more and the arcs were incredible.

I'm ready to see what happens next!

I was recently asked what the last book I finished in one day was, and THIS book is the most recent. I stayed up way too late reading it because I just HAD to know how it would end. Oh what an end it was! I was NOT expecting it to end on a cliffhanger!

Our FMC grew up an orphan and finds out at age 21 that she is actually from a different realm, Arcana. A place where magic manifests in adulthood and our FMC finds herself forced to go to school to train on how to use her magic (that she’s not even sure she has). While there she meets an intriguing cast of characters and works to discover the mystery surrounding her birth and subsequent abandonment on Earth.

The book started out a little slow in the first few chapters, but picked up once our FMC arrives in Arcana. The twists and turns within this book kept me actively engaged and interested until the very end with a world I could easily imagine, excellent side characters and a unique magic system. My only disappointment is having to wait for the next book to come out to find out how it ends!

I received this book as an ARC reader and it exceeded my expectations!

I am a voluntary ARC reader, and this is my honest review of "Arcana" by Niki Fixtion. I can not state enough how much I loved this book.
Let me just say, Niki, I need book two ASAP!!

The world building was superb, and the magic system is one that I have not had the privilege of reading yet. I loved how we were slowly introduced to the world as Kennedy was instead of just being told how the world operates. This book kept me guessing at every turn, and Kennedy was so relatable that every revelation had me gasping.

I also fell in love with Falyn, Drayzen, Noric, and Rostan as we got to know them throughout the book. Every page had me guessing who could be trusted and who had Kennedy's best interest at heart. This book, gah, I just can't sing its praises enough.

If you are a fan of unique magic systems, found family, political intrigue, and revelations that will have you sitting straight up in your seat and gasping right along with the characters, this is the book for you.

Oh wow what a book!

I was completely drawn into this book from the very first page. Niki has done an amazing job with such detailed world building I really felt like I was in the depths of the book alongside the characters.
We meet Kennedy who is an orphan fallen on pretty tough times. She ends up in a whole new world which she has no previous knowledge of. We follow Kennedy as she navigates through the academy and tries to develop magic she never knew she had.
There are some amazing side characters we meet along with way, I really love their camaraderie. Along with a potential love interest, who I really wasn’t sure about apart from the very last part of the book. Wow what a cliffhanger! Sooo many unanswered questions, can’t wait to read the next one.

I was lucky enough to receive an ARC to review and this is my unbiased voluntary review.

If I had the time to sit down and immediately reread this book I would have.

Kennedy is a strong FMC who discovers she is from the magical realm of Arcanum.

She leaves with a strange man to a world filled with magic and mystery. Amidst learning about her strange magic at an academy and trying to find out who her family is and why they left her on earth, Kennedy gets more than she bargained for.

Rebellion and romance are the name of the game in this killer romantasy.

The unique magic system and world building are fantastic. Nothing is overwhelming and you get to enjoy learning alongside the FMC.

Be ready for a CLIFFHANGER of an ending because it left me looking for more pages.

If I could give more than 5 stars I would. This book sits in my top 5 favorite reads all year

I loved this book! It's a fun and imaginative journey into a world where magic is tarot-based and was gifted by the gods. This was a unique magic system for me and Kennedy’s use of magic, in particular is compelling and adds a distinctive twist to the story.

The characters are lively and enjoyable, each bringing their own quirks and abilities, which create engaging and dynamic interactions. Kennedy’s journey of self-discovery, paired with the mystery surrounding her origins, keeps the tension high and the stakes even higher.

Overall, this book is a fantastic read for anyone who enjoys unique fantasy worlds, exciting magical systems, magical academia, and a cast of fun, memorable characters.

I am very excited to see what happens in the next book!

I wasn’t sure what to expect when I received this book but from the moment I started I couldn’t put it down. I read half the book in the first night, staying up way later than I should have! Couldn’t wait to get off the next day so I could finish it! The characters are well written, the world building was imaginative and beautiful but not over done! The only part I didn’t like is that the second book isn’t out yet and I have to wait to know what happens next! If you are looking for something magical to read I highly recommend this book!

Niki blew me away with this one. So many unexpected things, and twists and turns. Kennedy is amazing. The world building is perfect. It’s not confusing like in some fantasies I’ve read. Now this is a slow burn, but damn am I ready for some burn! I seriously cannot wait to read the next one. The magic system in this book is so unlike anything I’ve ever read before, very unique and interesting. Kennedy has an amazing group of friends who are witty, fun and always down for mischief. My kind of friends. If you haven’t read this yet then what are you waiting for?!?!

I got to be one of the first to read this and let me say I couldn’t put it down. I loved it and it was my first fantasy book so i went into it blind as i do with most of my reads as i want to see what they are like from my own perspective and this book was a favorite for me and a great first book to get my feet wet with fantasy.

I wish i could re-read as if i was reading it for the first again.

This book was incredible! I didn’t want it to end. I loved Kennedy and her gang of friends. Every time I thought nothing else could happen, there was something else. The action, the mystery, the heartbreak, the budding romance, everything about this book had me in a chokehold. I can’t believe I have to wait now to see what happens 😭

I absolutely devoured this book! I loved the magic system in the book. I love tarot cards, and that was one of the things that interested me most about this book. The characters were so well fleshed out. The beginning was a tiny bit slow, but when it picked up, it was amazing. The whole book was amazing. Thank you so much for the arc! 🖤

Absolutely loved this book and the world she created. I have never read a book that based an entire magical system on the tarot deck and it did not disappoint. I don't want to give any spoilers away so I'll just give the basics, this book follows the FMC as she gains understanding of her newfound powers while figuring out who she can trust and nothing is as it truly seems.

You know that feeling when you find a book that you can’t stop reading and fall asleep with it, then wake up and have start reading it again before you even leave the bed? Yeah, this is one of those books! Now it’s done and I’m sad because I have to wait for the next one to be written. 😔

Great fantasy read. Kennedy was an awesome main character. World building was on point as well as the magic system. The characters (especially the side characters!!) were well developed. It did start a little slow for me but it picked up and it sucks you in VERY quickly. Can’t wait for book 2!

This book took me a minute to get going. It was a reading slump not a book issue though. I kept getting drawn back to it. I love the magic system Niki has created. The suspense of not knowing who to trust to tell her the truth or who could be a rebel in disguise had me in a choke hold about 40% through. I could not put it down at that point. I never could have predicted how this book would go but I am here for it! We need more Niki!

I thought "Arcana" was great!

The story started off a little slow, but just when I thought I was going to get bored, something would happen to draw me back in. I was hooked by the time I reached the halfway point. I didn't want to put it down, and when it ended I wanted to read the second book immediately. The ending left me hanging, which threw me for a bit of a loop.

I really enjoyed this book. It kept me enthralled, and it kept my attention.

Arcana follows our FMC Kennedy. She is an orphan who is bounced around her entire life while she is trying to figure out where she comes from. Returning to her apartment one day, she finds this stranger waiting for her to take her back “home” with him. She suddenly learns that she was actually born in another realm, one that has magic in it and now is the time to return.

Yes, the first part of the book is a bit slow and can be hard to get into. Trust me, it is worth it. It gets so much better. The action picks up and oh, its all there, you just have to push through the slow parts, after all, it can't be action all the time, there has to be slow parts with times of learning.

I love Falyn, Drayzen, Noric, and Rostan. We spend time getting to know them through the book and I had to keep guessing what was going to happen next every time I turned the page and I was always trying to figure out who Kennedy can trust and who she can't trust.

I'll really liked the way Niki created the world and took her time with the world-building. And the magic system is cool. The world is slowly introduced to us through us as Kennedy is introduced to the world and as she learns how it operates.

If you like found families, political intrigue, and revelations that will have you sitting up straight in your seat gasping, this is your book. But, off course, this book has to end off on a cliffhanger that you can see coming a mile away. I, for one, can't wait for the next one.

This books has so much potential…
This book ends with a cliffhanger, If you don’t like cliffhangers this book isn’t for you.
I loved how this author created a magic world around the tarot card meaning, and how this author chose to incorporate her magic system based off the tarots as well amazed me.
I got kinda out off by this book due to it being a slow read at the beginning, I kept having to go back and re-read chapters.
The reason I gave this 4 stars is because I loved how the world unfolded beyond the page making me feel as if I was there, something would always happen after you hit midway of the book that would just pull you in and wanting more.

100% recommend. ⭐️

This book follows the story of a girl who discovers she has magic and is whisked away from Earth to a magical realm where she attends an academy to learn about the magic she possesses. She has to face harsh lessons, trials, and tests of friendship to discover her past and how she ended up so far from home.

Absolutely phenomenal. I was hooked very quickly. The world building was very well done. Not all dumped at once, which I really enjoyed. It felt like I got to learn along with Kennedy. The story, the characters, the twists are so well done it was hard to stop. I need more!! ❤️💔

Kennedy is a 21 yo girl with no family and maybe no real future till the day one strange stalker tells her she is from the Arcana realm too and that she has magic.

Being new in Arcana and in their magic school and being from Earth where everyone is a mundane (without magic) is like being bullied in high school again but thankfully her roommate and her friends are good people and try to help her.

In Arcana there is a classism about the level of their magic, being 10 the more precious ones. And by law you only can marry mages from your level.

Here we found friendship, political conspiracies, how to become stronger without forgiving your beliefs, and even the beginning of a love story.

This was a total page turner for me because I couldn't put it down. There are some plot twists I didn't see coming, and the cliffhanger is ok (thank you for not being massive) but I still need the next book like now to know how it goes.

Right away, I love that each level of magic is laid out for the reader so there’s no possibility of being confused!

Kennedy is an extremely relatable character as we go throughout the book. The internal dialogue is comical, witty, and mimics the many running thoughts I would have at any given moment if I were thrown into another realm like the FMC was.

The author pulls you in quickly to the chaos and doesn’t let you go. It’s such a captivating story that will have you on the edge of your seat the whole time.

This book has the potential to be amazing, especially as the story and author develops in further books. The world building is so fluid and consistent and makes it easy to grasp, even for someone who is newer to fantasy and learning different worlds.

I’ll be eagerly waiting to see what book two has in store, and to see how the author and this world continues to develop!

I read this book way too soon after Bound Souls (great book...definitely check it out) and there were some similarities that had me confusing some of the story line but that is all on me! I absolutely loved this book! I don't know anything about Tarot but the author centers the magic in the world she has created around them and even better...she lists the different types of magic by name and what they do after the Table of Contents. THANK YOU FOR THAT!!! The characters and their magic are described in a way that was easy for me to follow along.
