Trauma, hardship, and unrelenting curveballs in life leave us feeling alone and overwhelmed. This is a book of stories of 49 individuals across the state of Florida. They each share their journey with mental health and substance use recovery. These stories offer Hope, Healing, and Inspiration and will give you the sense that we are all part of a collective journey – The Human Experience! We may not have experienced the same journey in life, but we each know the same emotions of fear, guilt, shame, jealousy, envy, anger, and sadness. And because of those experiences, we can recognize the power of support and the triumph of recovery.
We hope this book will be one that people will give and donate to recovery organizations, inpatient and outpatient units, the lobbies of the offices of doctors, therapists, and other wellness and mental health clinics. We hope it is a book that a family member picks up for another family member who may be struggling or gifted to a friend by someone who cares and notices their pain.
We hope for the overall messages of hope, healing, and inspiration to be felt by all those who need a ray of sunshine and a reason to take the next step in their journey of recovery and wellness. Lastly, we aspire for it to serve as a tribute to celebrate the triumph of those who have shared their stories.
