Sometimes what you start takes longer than you thought to finish.
DEA contractor Thorsen Magnus thought he caught the big fish, but in the end it led nowhere. Now, four months later, he is still trying to get the rest of the meth operation in the Mendocino area. And it’s proving almost as frustrating as most of the relationships in his life have been. The one major exception there, and bright spot, is his new partner, Michael.
Michael Constantine left his father’s employment to start his own architecture firm. But the family has a way of not letting go, especially with his father’s business in trouble and his brother implicated in Thorsen’s investigation.
With his case stalled and his boss threatening to pull the plug, Thorsen needs to find a lead, and fast. While not happy about it, and against his protective instincts, he enlists Michael’s help, and together they manage to get things back on track. But the leads they uncover could expose them to more danger than either of them imagined.
I was so excited we were getting more of Thor and Michael and their story! I really enjoyed this sequel and I feel like it gave me a lot of what I was looking for after finishing the first book. It picks up a few months after the first book ends and Thor and Michael are going strong, Michael is starting his own business away from his father and Thor is still investigating the drug smugglers and that operation.
I enjoyed seeing these two together and figuring things out. It’s clear that these two love each other and have reached a point where they have a solid relationship but there are still a lot of unanswered questions between them. That’s what it felt like this part of their story was really about, yes figuring out the who the smugglers are and what is happening is a key part and leads to some entertaining action, but it’s also about these two sorting through what they want and the future they want to build. It’s not angsty or dramatic, but felt real and genuine. I thought it was a good mix of the mystery side and the romance side adding in some resolution with their family dramas. I very much enjoyed this addition, it is a fun and easy read, action packed and with just the right amount of sweetness!
Thor and Michael have decisions to be made for their future together. Thor is doing undercover work to set up a sting on dope dealers. Michael is an architect who loves helping folks have their dreams. We get some family issues, and our men’s thoughts on the relationship and the life ahead. I like these men, they love deeply, are well respected and solid, caring guys. Thor’s undercover op has issues, and problems, but we hope no one gets hurt. Michael doesn’t want Thor in danger so many times. These two have super hot sexy times ! What will happen to them if the op goes bad ? We get a great epilogue. ENJOY !
The second book in this series is a bit more exciting in action/thriller and really could (or should?) have been part of the first book. There was no reason for it to be a second book. I like the protagonists, and they are the reason this book gets four stars. It is fun, but just read both of them back to back. This is a very short book.
Dysfunctional families come together to celebrate a new couple after a Hollywood-worthy climax
In this second installment of the Rugged Coast series, DEA Contractor Thor Magnus and architect Michael's relationship is evolving and becoming more domestic. That is, until Thor receives further information about the drug trade in the area.
As their love story deepens, Thor must persuade Michael's entrapped brother to collaborate in luring the drug ring operators into the open. Traps are set, and then a mysterious explosion brings unwanted attention to Michael's brother. Now all in, Michael, along with Thor, orchestrates a plan to draw out the gang, leading them away from town. The thugs emerge, and it resembles a scene from a TV crime drama.
Their love for each other intensifies, and Thor discovers Michael's skills with a gun and his accuracy.
Andrew Gray has crafted a world that captivates us, making us invested in Thor and Michael's relationship as well as the pursuit of the drug distributors. It's a worthy read, quick though it may be, and it's filled with suspense. There's little unnecessary filler as the story is told clearly and resolved quickly. I wish there were a third book to explore how these two men develop their relationship and reconnect with their families who had distanced themselves from their lives.
This is a sequel story to “Chasing Safe Harbor.” Thor and Michael are continuing on with their lives after their last adventure with drug smugglers, but the smugglers aren’t done. With the help of Peter, Michael’s brother, they and the DEA set up a trap, but things don’t always go to plan. They’re also still dealing with issues with their families, especially their dads. They try to have a loving relationship in the midst of conflicts and trouble. But somehow, they manage. And get to the HEA that an Andrew Grey romance demands.
Recommended.

This was a great double header for the Rugged Coast series. Both Chasing Safe Harbor and Finding Safe Harbor dove tail together to make a very satisfying romp. Thor and Michael are great together and their 'difficult' and not so difficult families add to the whole. Might see more from this storyworld Andrew? Maybe? Well I hope so.
This is a story that you can get in to and not put it down till you've finished it. It has the angst that I like and the thrill of wanting to be in the midst of it. More stories like this would be great!
Delightful story. It will be nice once Part one and Part two are combined into one full story. Enjoyed how two black sheeps worked together and found that they were the perfect match for each other!
I am not a fan of the continuing story. It's romance, so the main reason I read is for the "will they get together" tension. But, I stuck with this. It was fine.
Excellent book and series, Andrew. You set this one up VERY well, and it was GREAT fun to read, especially when the thugs entered the booby-trapped motel room. Keep up the good work.
