When Ashley’s conventional 21st century life falls apart, she returns to England to write the book she shelved years ago, determined to take control of her life.
Meanwhile, in 1377 Wiltshire, Thomas fights his family’s desire that he become a priest and plots to chase his dream of knighthood instead. While Ashley and Thomas search for answers, Thomas suddenly appears in the modern day.
Unable to communicate, his first encounter with Ashley ends with the police demanding his immigration papers. All Thomas wants is to return to the world he understands, but he and Ashley are drawn together again and again. How will they find the answers Thomas needs before the authorities close in without losing each other forever?
Beth Ford is a historical fiction author living in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. She is the author of the novels In the Times of Spirits, Love Between Times, and After the Spirits Come as well as the Cassie Woods, Reporter novella series. Her work has also appeared in a variety of literary journals.
Although a really good concept, I felt that a good portion of this story fell flat. There were some portions of the book that would have pushed it towards a 4 but I felt that the majority of it just kind of felt like a rushed mess. For example, the ending was extremely rushed and left a million unsolved issued within the book. Also, for a book that's main goal was to be unrealistic, I found it insane that the main character had all this money when she just lost her job and had to temporarily move to England and live in her cousins flat just to get by. I also found it so strange how fast Thomas was able to pick up modern day English, even going as far as saying big words. I would have liked to see a more solid plot rather than jumping around to a bunch of different problems every chapter. It wasn't bad but I'm not sure that I'd actually recommend it.

When her 21st century life falls apart, a chance to start over and find love comes from an unexpected source: a stranger who needs her help and who may actually be a 14th-century knight.
About the book: When Ashley Winston’s conventional 21st century life falls apart, she returns to England to write the book she shelved years ago, determined to take control of her life. Meanwhile, in 1377 Wiltshire, Thomas de la Warr fights his family’s desire that he become a priest and plots to chase his dream of knighthood instead. While Ashley and Thomas search for answers, he suddenly appears in the modern day. Unable to communicate, his first encounter with Ashley ends with the police demanding his immigration papers. All Thomas wants is to return to the world he understands, but he and Ashley are drawn together again and again. How will they find the answers Thomas needs before the authorities close in without losing each other forever? Our Review: There are several reasons why fans of time travel stories, as well as12th century historical fiction, will adore Love Between Times. It is more than a romance between two people who have suffered loss in the love department. It is the coming together to help another person survive under totally foreign and often difficult circumstances. Imagine Thomas’ horror when he first encounters something as mundane as an elevator ride, the oddities—to him—of hot and cold running water out of the tap and flush toilets—and a routine pat-down by the local coppers. All of these everyday events clearly show the reader that Thomas is a man to contend with. As well, Ashley’s patience and kindness with him ring true from the very beginning. And that she would give up, without a second thought, her life in modern day in order to keep him safe, is an omen for the next book in this series.
Based on a scale of 1-5, Love Between Times merits a 4.
1377 Meets the Modern Day: A Time-Travel Romance 3.5 Stars
I’m a sucker for time-travel love stories, and Love Between Times by Beth Ford has a wonderfully creative premise. However, I struggled to get into the story. The pacing felt very slow, and the underlined format in the version I read made it hard to focus. Thankfully, switching to a PDF version made reading easier.
Ashley’s character didn’t resonate with me; I felt indifferent toward her, though I appreciated her willingness to own up to her mistakes. On the other hand, Thomese’s story set in 1377 England was intriguing. While I’m not a history buff and found the political and social context confusing at times, I enjoyed seeing his perspective on modern life.
Despite the slow pace and my challenges connecting with the characters, I’d recommend this book to time-travel enthusiasts. I might even revisit it in the future when I’m in the mood for a slower, reflective read.

What if you met someone who arrived from hundreds of years ago? Then, what if you fell in love with him? That's the premise of "Love Between Times." I enjoyed the story and it made me think of various issues that could happen here--authorities got involved, the person didn't understand the language, etc. For instance, inside a modern-day police station, Thomas (arriving from 1377) observes its "height rivaling that of the spire of the famous cathedral but underwhelming in all other respects ... clearly this place didn't waste much energy or money on architects and masons. Or they had lost those skills completely along with proper language."
Modern-day Ashley is also perplexed by Thomas: "she had never seen someone pray so much."
There were moments of humor and I felt I got to know the characters well. Enjoyable read, and I liked the ending.
Thomas time slips from 1377 to the present day. As he tries to adjust to the future while also searching for a way back home, he meets Ashley, who is determined to help him. They grow closer and have a hard time letting go of each other.
What sets this book apart from other time travel or slip stories I've read is its setting. I especially enjoyed Thomas's perspective.
The book has a nice pace, with easy-to-read writing and lovable characters. The story (and ending) lends itself well to a duology; I would definitely read a sequel. As a fan of the genre, I really enjoyed this book, and I highly recommend it!.

Time travel books can be tricky, however, some authors manage to get it right. In this book, having Thomas from 1377 land in present day England opens up an interesting story. Thomas is a great character, being obviously of good standing but with his own issues of being expected to take up the priesthood. Ashley has her own problems, but they connect as she tries to help him navigate her world. As he has no ID, he is suspected of being an illegal immigrant. I enjoyed his perceptions about the world. I loved the ending, and do hope that there is to be a sequel. Thanks to NetGalley for an opportunity to read and freely review this book.
I love how surprisingly realistic this book was. The attention to detail with the language was great. Although the first few chapters were tough to get into (especially those of Thomas) it was a very well written interesting story. I loved the HEA although the ending was a bit abrupt. #arcreview #beccasbookbites

Ashley who lives in the 21st century meets Thomas who is from 1377 Wiltshire. How did he get to the 21st century? There is drama, mystery, suspense, twists, turns and romance. I enjoyed reading their story, but I would liked to have known what happened to them in the time they now found themselves in. this is a new Author to me. This is a unique and well written historical time travel romance. The setting in the modern day made for an interesting and entertaining story. I enjoyed the characters and the hero's perception about the modern time in the world he'd been transported to. The ending was lovely. I recommend reading!
I really enjoyed this as a time-travel romance novel, it had that element that I was looking for from Beth Ford's writing. The characters were everything that I wanted and was hooked from the first page. It worked well overall and was invested in what was going on.

This is a time travelling story of two souls who fall in love. One is from the past and the other modern times. I liked both characters and how each reacted to the other.
