I never wanted to see Greyson Karayan again. After all, the one night stand five years ago ended in embarrassment and tears, so I was pretty sure he didn’t want to see me, either. But what did I expect after hooking up with the frontman of the famous rock band Grey Hart?
Well, definitely not a baby nine months later. Not that I will ever regret having my daughter. But I could have lived without the heartbreak.
When my brother’s accident throws our lives back together, I don’t know what to expect. I definitely have to protect my daughter from Greyson’s reckless lifestyle. After all, he didn’t show any interest in being in our lives back then, so why start now? Besides, I don’t want her to live through that sort of rejection like I did.
But I can't seem to run away from Greyson, either. When he looks at me, touches me, electrifies me, my body melts in surrender. Despite how hard I try to protect my heart, all it wants to do is beat for him, driving me insane enough to fill in as lead guitarist for his band so Grey Hart can finish out their music tour.
I didn’t know what to expect out on the road, being so close to him. Second chances? Rekindled love? Another rejection and heartbreak? Could there even be a happily ever after for us?
Especially when I discover his world isn’t just about music, partying, and hook-ups. It’s much more than that, filled with dark secrets… and blood.
To fall in love with Greyson Karayan as an arrogant, hot-headed rockstar was hard enough.
What about falling in love with Greyson Karayan, the vampire?
Let me tell you… falling in love with a vampiresucks!
It's probably a good thing that there is no mention of major other woman drama or cheating anywhere in the synopsis or other Goodreads reviews, because I probably would not have picked this up if I had known. The cheating is done by the MMC with the FMC on the other woman. It's a really frustrating situation because it's all exacerbated by the "betraying body syndrome." I did not like the relationship dynamics we got between Greyson and Charlie. It just really felt gross because on multiple occasions, while Grey was cheating on his girlfriend of 6 months with Charlie, he contemplated just having both girls. There is other things going on that make the mate bonds between Grey and Nikki (the OW) and Grey and Charlie... weird and not necessarily naturally fated, but we don't really start having some solid reasoning for the first 250 pages.
That all being said, and I still think this was a fantastic read. It certainly did well to build anxiety for how everything was going to work out, not only with Charlie and Grey but with each of the other band members, Leslie (Charlie's best friend), and the suspense/mystery plot. It was paced fairly well although as a whole, I do think the story is just a touch too long. This is almost 700 pages and it felt like there was a lot of scenes added (not just sex scenes) that didn't necessarily add a whole lot to the story.
I love how well each of the characters were written. Every character added well to the story without the side characters taking over. There was definitely a lot going on outside of the main plot line and the main relationship, and sometimes it did feel a little superfluous, but it did help to build up the platonic and familial relationships as well. I really enjoyed this overall and I'm looking forward to reading more from this author.
I seriously devoured this book as fast as I possibly could!!! I absolutely loved everything about it all the drama, suspense, music references, spice, vampire, rockstars, and all of the good, the bad & the ugly!!!! EVERYTHING ABOUT IT WAS FANTASTIC!!! Grey is the definition of a bad boy rockstar & Charlie is a very independent strong/sassy female!!! Their journey is one you won’t want to miss! It is a very thick book but DONT LET THAT STOP YOU!!! The details are so well thought out and original you don’t have to wonder how things are in this world it’s explained instead of implied! So many twists and turns in this story that keep you on your toes and dying to find out what will happen next!!! Once you start you won’t want to put it down!! If I could rate it more than 5 stars I would!!!
This was a chunky chunky book and a little bit daunting, however once I got into it it was easy to see why it was so thick!
The world is original in the lore, and in the specific type of vampires. I can't tell you what as its a spoiler, but it is something I haven't seen done before. It was enjoyable that the female lead was older, and a single mother; again something we don't see a lot of.
The characters at first seemed very two dimensional, esp. the male lead who I was frustrated with for a long time (still sore about this Eve!) However, as the book went on they grew, organically, and it was nice to see.
Overall I really enjoyed the book, it was a fun read with a new take on vampires and their history.
I loved this but I did feel it was unnecessarily long, there was too many inner monologues and I think that’s what made it feel more drawn out. I don’t think that should stop someone reading it though because it still held my interest. It had good chemistry and spice, and the storyline was really original. I loved the fact it was rockstars x vampires, it totally worked. I will still read more from this author, I liked the writing style.
Was very different than your typical vampire story. Eve has a way with world building and lore that will suck you in. Who doesn’t love a bad boy rockstar especially with the twist that he’s a vampire. The plot and story telling were great. Loved the character growth and dynamics. Can’t wait for book 2. Definitely check this out
I absolutely loved this book and highly recommend it. Eve Marcoux kept me engaged the entire time. I couldn’t get enough of the story. The plot, the characters, the writing…all of it was done so well. I’ll definitely be reading future books by her.
