Unfortunately, a little disappointing. The title poem and A Christmas Carol are of course classics, but I felt most of the other selections were not the best candidates for a Christmas treasury. Montgomery’s pick was fine, but most of the poems and other stories felt a little too wry/snarky, unconnected to Christmas or its Spirit, and little mention if any of Christ. Several of them aren’t about Christmas at all, just happen to take place at that time. The big long description of old-fashioned English Christmas was painfully long and lacking in purpose. I’m glad this book at least motivated me to read A Christmas Carol again.
