In this prequel to The Point Loma, Jack Kelly takes an offer that he knows is too good to be true when a client from the past contacts him for a sailing charter to Colombia. It proves to be the first in a series of bad decisions that lead him into a downward spiral and a very dark world. Soon, he finds himself in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, embroiled in a scheme that he may not be able to escape. Sail with Jack on this emotional and suspenseful journey.
Publisher's Note: This series may be read out of order.
Cam Séamus grew up in Dana Point, and spent much of his youth in, on, and around the water. He learned to sail at a U.S. Navy recreational program while serving in the United Sates Marine Corps. He is an American Sailing Association Instructor, and Master, Near Coastal (Captain). He has worked as an instructor, sailboat charter captain, and delivery captain. He holds a B.S. in Marketing from Grand Canyon University.
Cam is currently working on several projects, including the prequel to The Captain. He enjoys spending time with his wife and their dogs in Southern California and enjoys sailing all over the world.
Cam's 3rd book is the second in his "Captain" series, about the adventures and misadventures of Captain Jack Kelley, a charter sailing skipper. In it, he gets tied up with some people who turned out to be rather dodgy, to say the least! While the first Captain Jack novel (Point Loma) set the stage and provided Jack's back-story, the drama revolved around a disastrous voyage ending in the loss of lives, and what happened to Jack afterwards.
The current novel involves Jack with a drug lord and his mysterious charter. Although Jack desperately needed the funding provided by his newest "customer" to repair the damage done to his vessel, he is a bit squeamish about his new client especially when he finds out more about his background from the woman he has hired as crew - who has her own set of secrets! I will not say anymore about the plot except that it kicks the series up a notch, and adds some interesting complications. As with all his books so far, Cam has written a good story, with good narrative and dialogue. Those who like adventure stories should like this series. Don't forget to read Point Loma first if possible, but they do stand alone.
Also, don't forget to read his very first book, "Two Years Behind The Helm: From the Office to the Ocean" which was not a novel, but instead of book of reflections and philosophy engendered by his studies and experiences. I have read a great many books in my time, and I was truly impressed by this book.
People have told me it has changed their lives, and there is a great deal of wisdom in it.
Great characters and a storyline that kept me interested! Jack is a likeable captain and his relationships, adventures and predicaments make for an intriguing story. This is the first book of the Captain series that I have read, and though it’s a prequel, I had no problem following along.
Catching from beginning to end! The description and detail to every scene, planted vivid pictures in my mind. This book was thrilling, making it hard to put down. I would highly recommend reading this book for an exciting and gripping adventure!!
I typically don't read fiction but was given this book by a friend one day on my lunch hour. With nothing else to read I picked it up and....was almost immediately curious and a bit captivated by the story.
It is a fun read and goes on pretty quickly. I have not read the first one but i'm ordering it on amazon today.
