ONE UNWITTING CYBORG AGAINST THEUNIVERSE.I entered The Program as a small child, purely human and terminally ill. I escaped The Program as an adult, sort-of human and virtually indestructible.
But I left someone behind.
I enrol at Nova Academy, an elite school for military training, after discovering their connection to The Program, desperate to find my friend. But there’s a catch. Nova Academy is an all male school, and I am most decidedly a girl.
Can I find my way back to save my best friend without anyone uncovering my secrets?
This is book 1 in a why choose sci fi romance series where the FMC does not have to choose between her love interests. This series will get darker and spicier with each book while the FMC builds her harem.
I am a British author and write in British English, so there may be some spelling differences from American English.
The only bad thing about it is the second book isn’t out yet!
I don’t usually write reviews, but this book absolutely deserves it. From the very first page, I was hooked. The writing is so vivid and immersive, it felt like I was living in the world the author created. The characters are incredibly well-developed, and their journeys were equal parts gripping and emotional. And that is exactly the type of book everyone loves, to be fully immersed in the world the author had painstakingly crafted.
The pacing was perfect—there wasn’t a single dull moment. By the time I reached the end, I was already wishing the next book was out. This author has truly crafted something special, and I can’t wait to see where the story goes next. If you’re on the fence about reading this, just do it—you won’t regret it!
I really enjoyed this book. It's an interesting and, for me at least, a pretty unique take on the reverse harem genre.
However there were multiple grammatical and sentence errors scattered throughout. Most of them read like the author had rewritten them and then left a few words from the original sentence behind. Making them pretty confusing but generally having little impact on the story itself.
Aside from those few errors the book was well written. The main character beautifully complex and rare in personality among romance heroines.
The guys got kind-of muddled after a while and while I recognize a few who will likely be in the harem I am hoping it's not actually both teams plus the Cap and Adara. I like reverse harems, but the limit in harem members usually ends around 5 for me. After that everything gets too muddled, almost everything seems to be about sex (and therefore the story disappears), and the possibility of deep semi-realistic relationships disappears.
Nevertheless I can't wait to read the rest of the series and see where things go.
This is an incomplete series so far. It's advertised as a reverse harem but that must develop in later volumes. The world built here is very confusing to me. There's various inter Galactic societies and the threat of war. There is an evil "Program" that abducted our heroine as a child and conducted medical experiments on her which gave her various special abilities which are never fully explained. She escaped but left her best friend behind. So her goal is to return, infiltrate the Program and save Libby. However, she decides to do that by pretending to be a Terran human male and joins an all male military academy in space. This volume describes the two week trip to the academy on a space ship. She meets and befriends various non humans. The writing style is a bit stilted and it's not an easy read. There is ongoing angst due to her secret and various men becoming enamored of her despite their own sexuality. As usual in these stories no one tells each other the truth and drama ensues.
The story started slow. World building was good. This book was in desperate need of editors (proof reader, dev editor, etc) though.
I was annoyed by Adara's character (too pushy) and Captain Hironimous (too stupid). But the other characters were enjoyable, although in terms of personalities, not much would differentiate them from each other.
I was hooked on the story and cannot wait to see what happens in the next book. I just hope the author invests in proof readers at the very least.
Kinks/Tropes: aliens, gender bending, reverse harem (number in harem unknown), oral, anal play (small scene), dominatrix
Thoughts:
I don’t know what I was expecting, but this book hit it and more. There was a lot of information and people to keep track of, but worth it! There are some darkish undertones in this. The only issue I had was the grammatical errors. The cliffhanger was not where I expected the book to end!
The storyline is one that has been done a hundred times over, so it needs something stellar to make it stand out.... this book tried and missed the mark. The changing POV's were jarring rather than helpful and most of the characters had the same "voice" which made them blend together. If this were a rough draft, I'd say it has promise but it's not great as a finished novella.
I've read this book from beginning to end, and I'm dying to know what happens next for book 2. Artemis is traumatised by everything that she has been through, thinking she deserves nothing while trying to find her friend. Give this book a read. I promise you won't regret it it's got twists and turns and the sexy scenes, of course.

Read on KU. Brilliant storyline and interesting characters mix together with a great amount of action with a sprinkle of romance combining into an engaging read. But oh the cliffhanger! Very much enjoyed this read
I loved the intrigue and character building in Nova Academy. I am so psyched to see where book 2 takes these characters and to have more questions answered. My only gripe is that this book needs editing - there are many errors (in correct words, wonky timelines).
I hope our powerful cyborg FMC murders the universe and rules her hard-won harem with her iron fists.
Book 2 gets a little squicky at the end because of an enraging plot trope (no spoilers, but gross), but it’s a cliff and I have all the hope in the universe that it’s gonna work itself out in book 3, whenever it decides to drop. Fingers crossed.
