I requested this from NetGalley because I'm sucker for sports romance, especially romances that revolve around American football. I wasn't expecting much since I always end being disappointed with them but this one was a pleasant surprise.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Cassie Wainwright came to Santa Fe to meet her biological father for the first time. He's the head of the Santa Fe Bobcats. The night before Cassie's scheduled meeting with her father, she met Trey Owens at a nightclub and spent one passionate night with him.

Both of them are not looking for more than one night. Besides, Trey is concentrating on winning football games and Cassie is trying to forge a relationship with her father. Of course, her father being the head coach of the Bobcats and Trey being the quarterback, their paths are bound to cross.

What I really like about this book is it doesn't only tackle the budding romance, and the complication that goes along with it, between Trey and Cassie. Readers will also get to see Cassie trying her hardest to connect with her father who not only has a new family who seem to resent Cassie's presence in their lives. Her father's wife is a grade A bitch who made Cassie's life a living hell.

Not only that, readers also get a glimpse of Trey's relationship with his best friend who has an alcohol addiction. Trey is really an interesting character. He loves the game but hates the god-like status that comes along with it, especially those that come with him being the quarterback. It also shows that they both have lives they have to deal with. And while they did have great chemistry and were attracted to each other from the get go, it wasn't insta-love. Which I liked.

Overall, this was a solid read for me. It definitely satisfied my craving for sports romances.

I loved this! it was a surprise, to be honest. I was expecting maybe some useless drama but this was sweet, sexy and lovely all at the same time. I loved Trey, he was so determined to win over Cassie. He was so sexy, so cute at times and endearingly honest with his feelings--most of the time!
I also really loved Cassie. I find I have problems with heroines lately. They're either too brash, too bitchy, whiny or super stubborn. Cassie was a perfect mix of smart, successful, kind, sexy, sweet and considerate. She often put others before herself, even when she could have saved her own ass, but she never did. She also took the whole 'quarterback' thing in stride, which made me love her more.

Trey and Cassie were so cute together, and mature. It was refreshing reading about a couple that refused to get riddled down with useless drama. Instead, this was very straightforward and moved quickly. I couldn't stand mega-witch, Tabitha. She often overstepped and treated Cassie like dirt. Sometimes I wished Cassie would stand up for herself a little more, but I totally understood her reasons for not doing so. Her strength and resilience in staying strong for her sisters was admirable.

I loved how this ended, and since this is a first in a series, it will be interesting seeing the other bobcats find their own ladies. Very sexy, sweet and moving, I loved it.

3.5 - Come over to the nerd side. We have Pi. Stars!

One Night With A Quarteback is book one in Jeanette Murray’s new series ‘The Santa Fe Bobcats’. I have been a fan of Jeanette’s books since I stumbled across her ‘Sempre Fi’ series last year and feel in love with it, so the prospect of a new series based around American Footballers makes me a happy girl.

He had his secrets. She had hers.

I really liked parts of this book; Trey and Cassie when they were together were great, and the whole not 100% sure who the other really was theme. I loved the locker room banter between him and his team-mates, as well as Cassie and her best friend Anya. The sexy times were hot and well written, and the development of their relationship as a whole was sweet, and well timed.

He had to be in construction, or landscaping, or some mode of physical work that explained that amazing body. That was no desk-sitting body.

”You order a pizza?” ...
“I didn’t, but you look good enough to eat. I’ll take one of you instead.”

What got a little grating and for me felt a little over the top was the whole family drama Cassie was dealing with at the same time. I disliked her father, step-mother and step-sisters intensely, especially towards the end when she literally just gets dumped on by the lot of them in an attempt for them all to cover their own backs for their failings as a family. It all got a bit much, and add to that the situation with her mother, as well as Trey and his team-mates, at points the story felt a little ‘overloaded’.

Saying that, I still enjoyed it, we have been given insight into a few of the other players on the team as well, so the development potential is huge for this series. Killian is next up in Loving Him Off the Field, due out in October, and I am looking forward to seeing where Jeanette takes us.

5 Cassie and Trent Stars

This book really got under my skin - in a good way. I think Cassie is a lovely heroine and her determination to fit in with her new family was both heartbreakingly sweet and endearing. Her Father was irritating & I wanted him to really step up for his new daughter ...it was a long wait! Trent is a sweet hero for the most part but he did act like an idiot at the point of conflict but redeemed himself well. Trent is a Quarterback in the NFL - he is driven and determined but he’s also a solid friend and I loved how the friends all look out for each other. I want to read more of the Bobcats!

I really liked the hero. Trey's not your typical manwhore who's running away from commitment. He is a famous quarterback, but he doesn't enjoy the attention it comes with. He was loyal and didn't give up easily.

I was also loving the heroine in the beginning. But after she meets her father, she just kind of deflates. Come to think of it, the girl I read the first chapter about, the one who was dancing without a care in the world at the club, who wanted Trey and went after him, she was totally different from the meek girl in the end.

I wish she had stayed confident and brazen throughout the novel.

The writing was good. But I honestly was not interested in the side plots of her new family and Trey with his alcoholic friend. I just wanted to read about the H/h's budding relationship. Some people might enjoy that this romance had more meat than just girl meets boy, but I didn't.

Also.. an epilogue would've been nice!

Overall, Trey was a solid hero, chapter-one Cassie was awesome, and they had some cute moments sprinkled in which I enjoyed.

Wow! There was so much I loved about this book! The main character Cassie is awesome. She is such a sweetheart. She just wants to get to know her dad and develop a relationship with him. She is patient when a lot of people would just walk away. She is kind and sweet but still has an edge to her. I love that she is a nerd and wears nerdy t-shirts. I love Trey and how their relationship develops- he is sweet and so sexy. I love the supporting characters, especially Steven. I loved the sexy scenes. I was really impressed with this book and I'm so excited this is a series! I can't wait to read more about the Sante Fe Bobcats! Highly recommend!

Oh I totally LOVED it! Damn the rest of the series not being out yet. Not sure whose blog I saw it on but yay so glad I picked it up. Seriously didn't want this one to end. So damn good.

Full review to come!

OMG I want MORE!!! I flipping loved One Night with a Quarterback. All...my...favorite things! Sports romance, hot sex, a little family drama and long lost relatives, awesome friendships and just fantastic a heroine and hero who I loved spending time with as their one night stand got...a little bit complicated.

Okay so the quick of it is that Cassie is meeting her father for the first time. And she's nervous as hell about it so wanting to be a little wild and blow off some steam she spends the night with a seriously hot guy she's just met at a club. And it's...a good night. But that's all she's going to let it be and walks away the next morning with no digits exchanged. Much to Trey's dismay.

I really really loved the heroine. I know! I hardly ever say that. But I was totally digging Cassie. She's a sweetheart. Totally embraces her inner computer nerd and really tries to do everything right and just wants to get to know her new found family--even if they were rather frustrating people. She loves fiercly and wanted to protect those around her and that totally won me over. She's smart too and uses her intelligence which I loved.

And Trey. Well. He's just sex walking and seriously pet-able. Now, he makes a wee bit of a dick move at the end but he fixed it like a champ and had me back on his side again in no time. He was just a great hero as well. I loved how he was with Cassie. Just there when she needed to get it all out, or have a little cry or get lost in some sheet time for a spell. He's a quiet guy who loves what he does but really has a hard time with the limelight. He's solid though and always there for his friends. Gotta love that.

The two together just fit. And made me smile any time they were together. The chemistry was incredible and there right from the start. I swear. These two felt like they'd always been together. They just felt natural and deliciously perfect. And omg. The steamy bits were amazing. Very sexy.
"We admitted there was something here. I refuse to let this little hiccup stop that." She snorted, then pressed her nose into his chest in the first signs of surrender. "I wanted you then, and I want you now. That hasn't changed. Now we just have to be more delicate about how we handle this.

"You have a battle plan?"

"Not yet," he admitted. "But I'm willing to talk to my smarty-pants girlfriend about it. I think she might have a few good ideas."

"Girlfriend?" Her voice was low, hesitant.

"I've never been partial to the word "lover". It's a little too...eh. Not my style. Girlfriend might be a less mature word for it, but it does the same job."

"It does," she agreed. "So where are we going to have this lovely little planning meeting?"

"Hmm." He took one step back, then rammed his shoulder into her stomach. She shrieked--half surprise, half-laughter--and slapped his ass once in retaliation. But he ignored the protest and took her straight to the stairs.

"If you drop me, you're a dead man."

"I won't drop you. I've got magic hands."

"As the running back, wouldn't that be Josiah who can hold onto the ball under pressure--ouch!" she squealed when he pinched the back of one thigh.

"No talking about other men when I'm playing Caveman, woman."

She grumbled something, but since it didn't sound too flattering to his gender, he didn't ask for clarification.

I really just loved everything about their relationship. Then...there's the drama/conflict came in with Cassie's new family. The father she'd never known, his wife and her two half sisters. It was...not easy to watch as the 5 of them felt things out. I wanted to shake some people HARD for how they treated Cassie when she'd done nothing wrong and just wanted to meet her family. Her family was really a trial--especially her stepmom and father-- and if I'd been her I would have left them right quick. I did love seeing her bond with her sisters though and cheered when she finally stood up to her father who was ignoring her.

All in all, One Night with a Quarterback was a lovely romance that totally made me do that whole girly sigh thing on more than one occasion. From a stellar and steamy romance to family drama and getting to know Trey's team it was all just a fantastic ride. I'm dying to see what will happen next with the teammates. They were just so fun to get to know and such good guys. If you enjoy a light sports romance this is one not to miss. Murray definitely has a new fan!

An overdramatic sport-romance with a very likeable hero and a heroine that at times was a true doormat.. It wasn't bad, it wasn't great but in my own opinion the author has great potential.

The book starts when Cassie and her best friend decide to have fun the last day of her 'freedom' before she goes to meet her father. That night unbeknownst to her she meets the quarterback of the team her father coaches, Trey. And the story begins..

He is not a playboy, he has good manners, is sweet and loveable and even doesn't want to be famous that is why he rarelly goes out without a disguise. She is a tech-wiz, smart, a hard-worker, but too good for the family she walks into.. She shouln't invest in them.

The truth is i liked the story, but after the first meeting with her father which was cruel, i couldn't seem to connect with anything, anymore. His outlook was prudish and if he wanted to put some boundaries he should have known, that it works both ways.

*flips hair and leaves*

THOUGHTS ABOUT THE BOOK

- I didn't like her father one bit. Nor his attitude, even in the end..
- The sex was a little awkward.
- It contained too much info that wasn't needed..
- Her sisters were passable..
- But her step-mother was the absolute archetype. Awfull, upthight, evil, even.
- I have no idea why she stayed.Who would want to be associated with this people?
- I liked Stephen and Josiah a lot.. They were funny and i enjoyed their friendly banter with Trey.
- The writing was good but cold and maybe not so emotional as it was needed to help the reader better the connection with the characters..

I so enjoyed this book. It was sexy and funny. I literally lol'ed at in some places. I loved her tshirt collection, her bff and his teammates. Step-mama needs to go away. Boy was she a grump. I thought it took a little to long for them to "meet" but that's just me. The next book is the kicker's HEA who we don't see much of in this book. I really want Josiah and Stephens books. Oh and can Anya get a football player too?

This started out great and I liked the couple, but it dragged on too long and the twists were predictable. The family drama was not handled in an interesting way and I wish the heroine hadn't had a lapse in backbone midway through the book.

4 stars - Yummy Trey just gets Cassie and that makes this story special!

One look at the cover and this book had my interest. I so love football and romance books. Then I read the blurb and was so on board. Coaches long lost daughter hooking up with his quarterback? Yeah, that's gonna be fun. And it was.

Cassie doesn't know sports so she knows nothing about football. Not recognizing the starting quarterback for the Santa Fe Bobcats was not going to happen even if he hadn't wore the cute frames he didn't need. He wasn't looking for a hook-up but was drawn to her. That powerful first connection was what grabbed me and had me wanting more. I need those quick connections to characters and this book delivers that.

Both of these characters where hiding things from the other. I wanted to smack them both for not coming clean sooner. I kept waiting for the chips to fall and fall they did. It was a marvelous moment when they were both faced with the truth. Both of them had their jaws hanging open. At least they shared that moment together, right? I though it was perfect.

And that is really what I loved about this book. It's not a "you lied to me" kind of issue but a how to make complicated real problems work in a relationship. Do we try when it's hard? Do we punt (hehe pardon the football lingo there)? Yeah it was a NFL football player and that's not gonna happen to most but dealing with the issues of complicated family and job related issues are very common real problems that couples face. Do you try or pack it in?

These two were exactly what the other needed. Trey doesn't like the women hanging all over him clicking pics that end up all over social media. He wants a girl to loves him for him and not for his star status. Cassie wants a man that understands her and supports her for who she is, a nerdy computer girl. They were perfect together.

The heat between them is HOT. It starts quickly and then the cuddles come later. Loved that. I'm not always interesting in waiting for half the book for a first kiss. This one delivers fast and long and yummy.

This book is for the romance and sports lovers out there. That would be me. I love the tough guys who battle it out on the gridiron and then run after their woman. Oh and there is a caveman scene - hehe. It was funny.

A short tease at the end of this one had me wanting the next one. It's about that very strange anomaly that is the NFL kicker. Killian will be the focus of Loving Him Off the Field (Santa Fe Bobcats, #2). I'm in!

This is a fabulous opener to a new series. Who can resist a gorgeous Quarterback? Not I and Trey Owens is a sheer delight; sexy, determined and funny the man is simply adorable and when he encounters a lady in a nightclub who hasn't a clue who he is, he's in heaven. Cassie Wainwright is letting her hair down before meeting the father and family she never knew about. One night of fun. That's all it is.

Yeah right. No story if that was the case and their one night of pleasure leads to a whole chain of coincidences that throw them together again. It's sexy, passionate and with humour and Trey and Cassie have a wonderful chemistry. I loved that they don't fight particularly their feelings and it's the secondary characters that create much of the storyline for the pair; the evil step-mother, the half-siblings and their shenanigans, Trey's friends & team-mates. Between them they bring frustration, fury, fun, banter and some heartwarming, touching moments.

It's not hugely unpredictable, but I devoured it in one sitting. Shall definitely be reading the next in the series and is a book I'd recommend.

Ehhh.. 3.5... It's a cute story.. Simple love story.. I liked the playfulness between the main characters I wish there was more of that in the book.. Cassie was a strong heroine she knew what she wanted and was playful not afraid to be herself and Trey was a sweet caring and not the typical athlete you read about.. Humble character and I liked that.. Their relationship was believable.. It wasn't Insta love but it developed quickly.. The supporting characters were a fun add.. Treys friends are the main focus i assume to set you up for the rest of the series.. The add in of Stephan's issues jus helped the story along.. I wanted to drag the step my by the hair and knock some sense into her.. She was terrible.. I still don't like and never will.. All in all it was a good read.. Decently written.. I jus I dunno.. I didn't like how it ended.. I really didn't like the ending.. It's like a chapter was missing.. Something was missing..

The night before she was due to meet her father for the first time, Cassie has what she thinks is a one night stand with a handsome stranger. But, their paths continued to cross, until they realize how many different ways they are connected to each other.

Things I liked

• I like Cassie. She was a nerdy tech girl with a penchant for dorky tees. Essentially, a girl after my own heart. I loved that she was there to build a relationship with her sisters and father, and respected how hard she was willing to work, even when she was facing pushback.

• Trey was a great hero. He was sweet and sexy, and though I am not a huge fan of deception, I understood why he kept a certain part of his identity under wraps. Murray gave him many opportunities to show what a great friend he was too with Stephen's storyline.

• The romance was great. Cassie and Trey had a lot of fun together. There was sparks and fireworks, but also some very sweet and tender moments. They seemed to have a lot of fun together, and I like seeing that mixed in with the drama

• I am a fool for sports romances, and that was the main reason I picked this one up.

The drama with the stepmother was a bit off putting, but overall, I enjoyed getting to see Cassie and Trey get their HEA, while also meeting some of the other Bobcat players. I anticipate continuing the series, and am especially interested in seeing how Stephen makes out.

I love football…don’t get me wrong…but I am not sure that I could pick out one player or another…especially on a team I don’t follow. Never mind, if it was baseball or rugby or soccer. So I loved this meet cute idea…famous football player meets clueless new to town woman and instant chemistry. Thus the set up for One Night with a Quarterback (The Santa Fe Bobcats #1) by Jeanette Murray expected June 17th 2014 by InterMix.
The book liner states:

She’s daddy’s little girl…or she would have been, had he known she existed. Cassie Wainwright thought her father—head coach of the Santa Fe Bobcats—ignored her purposefully. Come to find out, he had no clue she’d ever been born.

Now Cassie is determined to meet the man who’s always been missing from her life. Her mother warns her, being the long-lost daughter of a well-known NFL coach won’t be easy, but Cassie’s determined to stick it out. And before her life turns upside down, she wants one more night of fun.

Starting quarterback for the Santa Fe Bobcats, Trey Owens is tired of being in the limelight. Lucky for him, the beautiful brunette he meets at the club isn’t a local. She has no idea who he is…and she’s down to party.

Tomorrow, Cassie will think about her father. Tomorrow, she’ll think about her future. But tonight is for herself and the hottie she found on dance floor. It’s a matchup made in heaven—if only for a night…

What I loved about this book:

Lots and lots of things, starting with the steamy, fun, and totally believable one night stand they had. Cassie and Trey hit it off right away and they didn’t mince words. They both knew what the other wanted and they went for it…with both feet, three condoms and a whole lotta rumpled hotel sheets! Then the next morning leads Trey away to take care of a friend and Cassie to meet the father she never knew.
While I loved Cassie, her sisters and Trey (along a couple of his football buddies)…Cassie’s dad Ken was nothing special. He was stern, aloof and non-communicative. Worse yet, he defaulted everything to his wife Tabitha, who was extremely unkind and rude to Cassie. Girls…let me tell you what 23 years with the same man has taught me: No good comes from emasculating your man. Don’t do it. Let your man be a man and be supportive and loving, especially when the shit hits the fan. I have to say the writing was very good, which made the four glaring typos/inconsistencies stand out to me, but otherwise, each character grew and developed along with Cassie and Trey’s budding romance.

Fast, cute, sexy and a lovely HEA…great summer read that gets 4 stars from me. Enjoy! Karia

One Night with a Quarterback was such a good read, I really enjoyed it :)

From the moment Cassie and Trey meet I was drawn in, I couldn't stop reading.
Their attraction was instant but very believable, loved their chemistry and how accepting and supportive they were of each other.

Another major plus for me was that this wasn't an instant love, while the attraction was instant the author took time to develop the relationship.

I loved Cassie, I really connected to her and I admired how she handled everything.
Getting to know the father she thought never wanted her wasn't easy, then throw in an instant family and life as Cassie knew it was never going to be the same again.

As an only child Cassie loved having two younger sisters, she couldn't wait to get to know them and to form a relationship with them.
But this wasn't going to easy, Tabitha her fathers wife had rules she wanted and expected Cassie to follow if she was going to allow her daughters anywhere near Cassie.

BOY did I want to bitch slap Tabitha, she was such a bitch! While I understand she wanted to protect Irene and Mellie she never once took the time to get to know Cassie, she judged her and then proceeded to put her down without ever taking time to know her.
I was so disappointed with Ben her father. He saw what Tabitha was doing and instead of telling his wife to stop he took the cowards way out and avoided any confrontation.

Trey was such a lovely and likable guy. He would do anything for his friends and loved ones.
Loved his relationship with his friends, their banter had me laughing and falling in love with them all :)
Loved seeing Trey stand up to Ben and showing him how much his actions hurt Cassie. It was a heartwarming ending to a very enjoyable read.

Jeanette Murray has written a beautiful romance with wonderful characters that will touch your heart and leave you full of happy feels.

Looking forward to reading the next book in the The Santa Fe Bobcats series Loving Him Off the Field :)

I love sport romances and I fell in love with this book and Trey/Cassie. It had a fabulous story line that you caused you to fall in love with all of the characters. I haven’t read any of Jeanette’s books before this one so I wasn’t sure what to expect from her, so I decided to request this book and give it a try. I was not disappointed and I can’t wait to read more about the secondary characters from this book.

Trey is the quarterback for the Santa Fe Bobcats. He loves his job and hates being the center of attention, so he tries his best to stay out of the limelight. Trey is sweet, sexy and funny all rolled together is this sexy as hell packaging and he really likes Cassie. Trey likes to be liked for who he is and not for his job, so when he is drawn to Cassie and she has no idea who he is and they keep running into each other while Cassie is in Santa Fa. They start spending time together but they decide for many reasons to keep their relationship a secret, so what happens when their worlds collide with each other?

Cassie is a computer nerd and she is leaving Atlanta to get to know her father in Santa Fe, but before she leaves, she is going to have one more night where to can lose herself and do what she wants before meeting her father. When Cassie and her best friend go into the club she is ready to just lose herself and lose herself she does, but little does she know who she is taking back to her room? I loved it when Trey stood up to her father and basically told him off. My heart broke for Cassie when she was ignored by her father and I don’t think that I could have forgiven him if I was in Cassie’s shoes.

Can't decide between 3 1/2 and 4 stars

Cassie grew up in a single parent household thinking her father just didn't want to be in her life. After her mother's bout with cancer she learns that he didn't even know she existed. Cassie drives to meet him and his family; the night before the meeting she needs to relieve stress and dances her heart out at a club catching the eye of Trey.

Cassie, love her, and yeah to Jeanette Murray for writing a female computer geek that is hot looking! Cassie is far nicer than I would have been in a few situations; and her craving for a family pulls at your heart. Trey is not the typical football player hero. He has a heart of gold and is faithful to his friends. He is such a wonderfully written character. They had sizzle from the moment they met; but it was their humor that sucked me into this book. They are a couple I would love to hang out with on a weekend.

The plot is rather unique, with the long lost daughter portion and the stepmother angle. Trey has his own subplot with a good friend that kept me interested also. Cassie's father and stepmother could be rather harsh and at times it grated on me; but in the end the book is all about Cassie and Trey who I loved. I am hoping they are a big part of book 2 which I definitely will be reading!

I enjoyed my first read by Jeanette Murray. It was an emotional ride following Cassie's journey into the life of her recently found father. Not knowing who he was all her life she makes the trip to meet him & his family for the first time ever, but before that happens she has a one night of unadulterated fun with a handsome stranger. Trey wasn't looking for anyone but when he met Cassie he fell hard & kept falling. They were only supposed to be a one night stand but when they accidentally meet again he decides to take a chance. Their relationship is kept under wraps & neither really knows who the other is actually. With the wicked stepmother & 2 younger stepsisters this could almost be a Cinderella remake but with the comedy of the youngest sister & Trey's 2 buddies it makes it a great story. The drama is rich, the loving is heated & the over all story wonderful. Can't wait to read the next installment.

short n sweet and at times i wanted to hit Cassie for being so dumb but the relationship between her and Trey was really cute.

definitely my kind of sport romance. She doesnt know who Trey is and Trey stays under the radar.

3.5 Stars. What an enjoyable book! The heroine had a great personality and the hero wasn't a jerk. This was a fun read and I think I will read the next in the series.

Big fail in not having an epilogue. The ending was quite abrupt. That is one of my pet peeves. Give us a little something!

"'No,' she gasped, tearing her mouth from his."

At which point, he should have stopped. Instead:

"His mouth worked down her neck to the sliver of shoulder exposed by her shirt."

I am so not comfortable with the trope of "keep going until you change her mind."

Is it bad that I want to slap her whole family? Lol! Ending felt rushed but the story was good. Going to try the next book in the series.

I hate football and most athlete romances strike me as meh. But this book, I loved. One of my favorite books of the year.
