With the encouragement of their boyfriend, DC Chris Ryder, they apply on a whim to fill a post on PS-22’s Armed Response Unit. To Gabriel and Chris’ total surprise, Gabriel gets selected for the position. Little do either of them know where Gabriel’s first two weeks are going to take them and their colleagues.

Day M. Ravenstone is a teen author living in Bournemouth, England. He balances writing with university, where he is studying BA Creative Writing. Growing up queer in a small market town in North Yorkshire, Day didn’t know that being a police officer was an option for him - despite it being a childhood dream. Now, as an avid consumer of any form of crime fiction, Day feels under-represented as a queer aspiring police officer. He aims to stop anyone else feeling like this by writing books about LGBTQ+ people thriving on the force.

Day lives every day to make his younger self proud.

Bullets is the second book in the Abney Road series, a police procedural featuring LGBTQ+ characters. This author has a knack for writing snappy dialogue and characters that are so real that you feel like you know them. The storyline does jump around a bit but overall I enjoyed the complexity, depth and maturity of the writing, the sense of cheekiness (Gabriel is so awesomely snarky! :-), and the intent to endorse loving relationships in all their forms.

This second installment in the Abney Road series takes the reader further into the lives of some of the characters from book one (Masks) and introduces a host of new ones. I love the breadth of the plot, encompassing some of the history behind the story arc. I finished this book wanting to know more of the personalities contained within, book three can't come soon enough.

Writing this was so cathartic for me. It helped me process my own feelings of being disabled with aspirations towards the criminal justice sector.

I love that it's a full length novel, as that's something I never thought I'd be capable of writing. Kid-Day would be so proud.
