This book is sooo awesome! I’m a huge fan of dark romance and this one is super dark. Know your triggers.
First we are introduced to the MMC Bryce, a vampire with basically no morality and zero empathy…. Until Seph. The FMC Persephone or Seph is a sheltered girl who doesn’t have a great family life.
I don’t want to give away spoilers so let me just say a few general things..
Bryce does some really horrible things to Seph. Does he redeem himself? Does Seph get her revenge? You need to read this book!
As with any paranormal romance, there are some crazy things that happen! Some gross, some gory, some funny, but all great in this story. And the spicy stuff is off the charts hot!
One of my favorite characters is Madz. She’s the sassy and fierce best friend that every story needs!
I honestly loved this book. I recommend it if you like dark romance. I am looking forward to reading more in this series!
I didn’t fully know what to expect with “Consumption.” I might have gone into it only knowing it was about vampires, which I like. Step-s¡bl¡ngs? Why, yes, of course. And there was a host of intense items on the TW/CW list. And I was okay with that. I honestly didn’t want spoilers—this is generally my approach with most books—the luxury of not having any triggers.
“Consumption” is a fantastical, creative, brilliantly written story I cannot stop thinking about and discussing. It is a beautiful blend of vampires in Greek mythology intertwined with Hades and Persephone. Readers will follow Bryce and Seph and their very complex relationship.
It is dark, gory, plenty bl••dy, and oh so forbidden, but Greek mythology and vampires are, and I loved how Author Tierney Alina Eddy created this world. And that epilogue! Wow!
I don’t believe I’ve ever received an ARC, so this was very exciting for me to have been one of the firsts! I’m going to separate my review into two sections because I feel very differently about the first half, than I do the second. We are first introduced to Bryce a vampire who visits Persephone in the evening, unbeknownst to her. The story moves very quickly from here. While I enjoy a fast burn, it also felt slow. Lots of back and forth, lots of “ I love you, I hate you.” Quick enough to give you whiplash! I first thought the book was heading into an “exacting revenge” storyline, and it’s there, but I was wrong about where the story was going. That was a pleasant surprise. This portion continues on for about the first 60ish percent. It wasn’t my favorite, but I was committed to seeing this through. Then “the change” happens and wow! This part I liked. The characters began to show more depth and the love/hate thing finally took a break, and we finally get to explore the characters as they. Each finding their way and coming into their own. I love a good back and forth, and I understand feeling conflicted when there is romance involved, but it just felt excessive in the beginning. The second half of this story was more my pace. This is a reimagining of Hades and Persephone’s story, and it was very creative. I love the mix in of vampires (the change was def different than in other stories!), and the visual explanation of the settings was good. This is a book I would recommend to my dark, dark romance readers with no blood triggers, and who love a good vampire/god read!
I had the absolute pleasure of receiving this book as an ARC, and I was absolutely blown away! This book has so much happening and had me on the edge of my seat while simultaneously curling my toes at the spice.. because MEOW!
Bryce Dreadful is a lunatic and I love this hunk of vampire, man! He does have his flaws, though, but he is unapologetically a monster, but I love that he can recognise this and works on it.
Seph ( Persephone): Oh my sweet girl, I loved this woman, and I loved watching her come into herself and become a complete badass! I love when feminine rage takes hold and this bad bitch radiates it in droves.
I also really enjoyed the Greek mythology throughout as Hades and Persephone are my favourites 😍. I loved the anxiety and self reflection representation as well. I thought it was a great touch to their story. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who loves dark vampire romances!
As always, I suggest that you read the trigger warnings as there are some heavy topics discussed throughout the entire book, and your mental well-being matters!
I adore a good retelling and twist on the Persephone and Hades story, and this book delivered. It was the perfect combination of dark romance, gore, taboo, and supernatural. While a large focus of these book was on the interactions and plot between Persephone (Seph) Bloom and Bryce Dreadful, towards the second half of the book a larger plot starts to emerge and it is so intriguing and appears to be what will carry through the series. As other reviews have mentioned this is a dark romance and plays with taboo and gore. Reader who are new to the dark romance or enjoy the more grey romances, should take the content list very seriously. But for those the relish in the dark romance, this book is a feast. This book will be one that lives rent free in my mind and will be going onto my reread list.
I received a this book from the publisher/author at no cost to me and volunteered to read it; my review is my honest opinion and given without any influence by the author or publisher.
Persephone and Bryce. Persephone and a horrible situation with her family that she wasn't even aware of in the beginning of the book.
Bryce, a vampire, taking full advantage of his talents to be able to take advantage of Persephone who is perceived as innocent and a virgin at the beginning of the story for the sake of revenge.
The whirlwind of this story begins when Bryce realizes that he cannot go through with his revenge plan the way he thought he would. The relationship between Persephone and Bryce is a very complicated, abusive, dramatic, and a ride for the ages. I will admit that there was times that were slow in the story that did make it a bit of a struggle, but I was invested in the story enough to push past these moments.
There was a lot of twists and a lot of unexpected approaches to different details in the story. It is a journey of discovery, growth, dismantling, and connection like none that I've read.
This book is also very much a dark spicy book. This book covers topics of torture, fighting, manipulation, rape, parental abuse, physical abuse, mental abuse, kidnapping, false family, mental manipulation, and because of the man he didn't do this. I haven't seen him since that night murder, mutilation, knife play, blood play, C&C, bondage, anal, and period play. Please keep all of these things in mind when looking to read this book.
This book was good despite my 3 star rating. I believe it would have been better if it was separated in to more books. I believe the author could have wrote 3 books out of this one and expanding on the story more. I liked the relationship between Seph and Bryce but feel like it was rushed and there was no real resolution despite Seph saying there was. I believe Bryce never really changed until he did that thing at the end but even then that wasn’t him changing. I truly believe Seph could have done better but alas it wasn’t meant to be. I liked the plot even if it felt rushed or non-existent at some points. I truly think it could be expanded on and I would love it more. Also the authors used “claret” for blood a lot and it drove me insane by the end of the book. Anyways I don’t know if this would be my first vampire romance recommendation but I still liked the book. I read this as an ARC and this is my honest review.
That was a beautiful reimagining of Hades and Persephone. They had so much push and pull, love and hate, and pure, feral passion. It was dark. It was messy. And it was filled with obsession, worship, and love. Just as Hades and Persephone should be. The plot took so many different directions. Bryce was definitely rough around the edges, but I feel like the women were a little harsh on him. He lost so much and did what most of us do, built some impenetrable walls. The way Seph broke him was intense. Bryce was the savior Seph didn't know she needed or craved. I'd follow him into the dark, too. He had a filthy mouth! The dirty talk on this vampire was some of the best I've ever read. The cliffhanger was there, but I would consider it light. You won't be throwing your book. You might be crying, though.
I sat on writing my review for a while. I was sitting with my thoughts and feelings and wanted to let the story sink in.
It is definitely a creative take on the Hades x Persephone story and I always love a vampire! I wasn’t blown away by the story but I was also never bored. The pacing is fairly quick so something is always happening.
The writing was ok but I felt like the word “fuck” was overused. Not sure if it was for shock value or what but it became comical after a while. In my real life I swear…a lot…and this was too much. In most sentences and sometimes twice in one sentence.
Overall, if you enjoy dark and depraved romance, re-imaginings , and Hades x Persephone vibes you may enjoy this! Please read triggers before starting.
Thank you to the author for trusting me with this ARC in exchange for an honest review!
Wow! This a super dark and super spicy romance. Vampires mixed the old gods and what a tale.
Persephone is being saved by her step father to go to the highest bidder. But Bryce will not allow that to happen. He is back for revenge on her step father and will not allow him to use Persephone.
But when she realizes how Bryce saved her will she really see the “help” Bryce gave to her or will she see him as using her for his own revenge.
There story is twisted and it’s two black sounds finding each other in every lifetime.
This is the first book I’ve read by author Tierney Alina Eddy, and it definitely will not be the last. This is a dark romance so please check the trigger warnings before you dive into this book!!!!
Bryce and Seph had an amazing love story to share. It wasn’t easy, but the best kind isn’t. The spice between these two are off the charts and to be honest, I don’t think I’ve ever read anything like it before. Seph is a sassy mouth FMC who came back into herself once her “eyes were opened.” Bryce is a vengeful vampire you just love to hate but he very quickly comes to redeem himself.
The twists and turns in this story will keep you engaged right up to the end.
Wow! This book is hot right from the beginning. This is my first book from Tierney, and I'm in love. It's a dark, vampire, Hades & Persephone retelling. It's also taboo (step sibs with a twist). Definitely read the triggers going in, because Tierney does not mess around, but if you love vampires, dark, taboo, you're going to want to add this to your TBR!
Their story may have started out as a way for Bryce to get revenge for hos father, but they soon started falling for each other. And their relationship may have been a little toxic, but he was so sweet just for her. Tad spoiler from the beginning of the book, but he gifts her daffodils from his shop because he knows their her favorite (after doing some wild shit the night before that I will not spoil😉)
This book was so good. I really like the way that it was written, but I also just like the chemistry between the two characters and how they act towards each other. I loved how Bryce showed his emotions. I liked how the author wrote that if they were crying it was red, that was different. Even though Bryce always did bad stuff Seph was always forgiving and went back to him. We love toxic!! Madz, she was an amazing side character in this book. I love her friendship with seph and Bryce. I like how this book did not focus on the Greek gods but still included them as characters.
The spice was amazing. The period scene!! IYKYK😉 seph was so strong and we love that. She became even stronger when turning. Overall I really liked this book and am super excited I got to read it early 🤍
Seph is introduced as a virgin, innocent human, but Bryce makes sure he changes all of that.
Bryce is a no f*** given vampire with zero care about anything and anyone. He will do anything to ensure he gets his revenge even if it means sleeping with his step sibling Seph. But can Seph change such a heartless vampire?
I love the Greek mythology throughout the book, the dark humour, the drama, and the spice.
Madz is the bestfriend of bestfriends! She needs her own book with her pov. She had me laughing, swearing, and joining in on her anger.
I can't wait for the next part as this book left us with a cliffhanger!
Consumption was a fantastic blend of a number of things I enjoy in my books! You had vampires, step-sibilings, a take on Hades and Persephone, gore, spice….pretty much everything! Bryce has a pretty good chance of being on the top of my vampire crush list and, oh boy, was his mouth FILTHY! This is a very dark, dark romance so be sure to check everything out before you begin but if you are good with any or most things, this is definitely one you need to check out!
This story won't be for everyone, we open on spice, we learn about Bryce and his motivations. This book is up and running from the very beginning. There aren't a lot of “likable” characters. Seph's mom is selfish and only think about her own happiness. Her stepdad is a creep. But to see Seph come into her own??? It's a journey. And the spice is spicing in this one.
Skip the CliffsNotes, folks, this one's summed up in a few words: Morally Black, Toxic, Dirty, Unhinged. Warning, this one is not for the faint of heart. Proceed with caution (and a strong stomach) and check the trigger warnings. Loved it, obviously!

This is the first time I’ve read an ARC and wasn’t sure what to expect.
However, if you love dark romance this is for you! Very graphic a lot of smut in detail. If you are someone who doesn’t like all sex books then this isn’t for you. Overall, enjoyed.
First and foremost, if you're a reader human or vampire—who values trigger warnings, I highly recommend checking those out before diving into this book. I truly wish I could rate it higher than 5 stars! As someone who doesn't typically gravitate towards fantasy, I can confidently say this is my favorite in the genre. The plot was thoroughly impressive, keeping me engaged with every twist and turn. When I say 5/5 🌶️, I mean it the spice is there right from the start and maintains its intensity throughout the entire story. This is a reimagining of the Hades and Persephone, with a unique twist involving vampires and step-siblings. I found it absolutely adorable when Bryce referred to Persephone as "Petal"; it was such a sweet and unique nickname. If you're looking for a book to kick off the spooky season, I highly recommend this one, which is set to be released on September 21st!
Outstanding, I loved this book and can't wait for more. This is a dark paranormal telling of Hades and Persephone's legend.
This is a well written book that will have you emotionally unravelling as you are drawn further and further into the story. There are some extremely dark elements to this story and do not read until you have gone through all of the trigger warnings.
There are some dark and very spicy scenes in this story but if you enjoy dark brooding vampires and tales of revenge and obsession this book is a definite must read.
Thank you Tierney Alina Eddy - I was excited to read this book and was not dissapointed, you took me on an amazing journey and left me wanting more.
I liked this! It's Bryce & Seph's story & they had one to tell! He's a vampire out for revenge & tries to get that through her, but something unexpected happens along the way. She's been in a bad situation & was unaware of the danger surrounding her, or the stuff that happened while she was "out of it". There's so much happening here & a lot of secrets come out. Lies were told & she has to find a way to move on. The spice was fantastic & there were plot twists that I did not see coming! Highly recommend this book & author!
Seph & Bryce are deliciously toxic. If you came for ooey gooey romance- you won’t find that here! You will in fact get raw, passionate, broken, dark, and twisted love. If you want something that will leave you panting and wanting more and more- then THIS is the book for you. A spectacularly dark retelling of Hades and Persephone with a vampiric twist. Can’t wait for more!
