There’s a certain flavour of filth in this duet and Book 2 took it straight into savage territory. The push and pull, the rage and ruin, the love and lunacy… BRILLIANT
BUT … beneath all the corruption, this book hurts.

Arlo awakens but not in the way you would expect 🤭
We still get that vicious, violent savagery, but now it’s laced with care. With intention. With the quiet, aching kind of love that’s reserved for one woman and his child.
He’s still chaos wrapped in flesh but now there’s heart behind the violence

Book 2 Carnage with consequences.
This isn’t just a dark romance
Its grief, love, power, and vengeance all fighting for dominance on the same bloody stage. It’s soft moments wrapped in razor wire. It’s survival through savagery.

This book hooks you right from the start. I finished it within one day. It had me in a chokehold what a beautiful book

I felt the connection between wren and arlo more and the story itself also got me hooked!

Amazing. Incredible. Obsessed.
I will never be over Arlo. I will never forget this duet. It was EVERYTHING and more. If you loved unravelling the beast, your in for a ride… Arlo at his finest. Wren too, what a weapon. Such a badass FMC. Such great character progression too.
Somehow the spice was even hotter, we all know Jodie writes pure fire smut scenes, but she definitely turned it up a notch or ten. Arlo and his mouth just continuously melted me. I was kicking my feet, giggling, panting…. absolutely FERAL for that man.
It was a super emotional read, for many reasons. So many precious moments, and I just loved it all. It was even better than I could have imagined, and some. Jodie’s way with words speak to my soul, and Arlo & wren will stay with me!
I can’t say much about the storyline, without spoiling anything from either books, but the continued plot was giving. The plot twists….. damn the plot twists, were chefs kiss. I gasped, I cried (a lot) I was thrown back into the whirlwind that is Arlo & Wren, did I enjoy the ride?! Yes, yes everytime.
I read through the entire thing in a day, reading at every opportunity. I just couldn’t put it down. I was torn between savouring it, as it was so bittersweet to say goodbye to these characters we’ve learnt to love, and devouring it. But there was no choice. I couldn’t stop myself.
Another amazing read from Jodie. She’s smashed it, again. 5 stars isn’t enough. It just isn’t.

HE'S BACKKK!!!
Thank you so much Jodie for giving me opportunity to arc read this second book to the beast duet 🖤
The way I went through ALL the feels in this one had me crying in the corner of my room 😭 I missed Arlo and wren so much! Their story is so delicious and precious. This is a dark romance, secret society, mystery suspense, betrayal, revenge, and hea!
Wren being the absolute baddie that she is took over for Arlo in the elites while also being pregnant and caring for Cree. She was just trying to get her spark back after losing Arlo. And when she felt herself slipping deeper into the darkness, she welcomed it but also fought against it for the sake of her unborn baby girl and Cree. She took lead of the elites and everyone respected her! Ugh I absolutely love and adore her. Miss girl doesn't play around. Especially when you mention arlo... she will cut you with just a look 😩 When Arlo finally returns... This man did not change one bit!!! He is still his dominant and unhinged self. And boy was he even filthier 🤭 I practically screamed the house down when he popped up!
The threats against them was so intense and had me shaking in my seat! The twists... GOT ME RIGHT THERE AGAIN!!! ugh this duet quickly became one of my absolute favorites 🖤

Absolutely loved this book. Full of twists and action. The heartbreak and pain in the beginning is palpable. The chemistry with Wren and Arlo and the bombshell at the end. Just so so good.

Awakening The Beast (Book 2 in the Beast Duet)
This truly was everything I craved, needed, wanted, and hoped for in a closure for Wren and Arlo.
This book had incredible spice 🥵🥵 some spots had me blushing like I don't read spicy books on a regular basis. I did have to take a breather in a few spots to compose myself before continuing, but it was totally worth it.
The twists and turns, the up and downs, were so well continued from books 1 to 2 and then a closure that was absolutely breathtaking.
Am I heartbroken that it's over, absolutely. I love the world that was created, but I am beyond thankful to Jodie for creating such an incredible space to escape, too.

I devoured it in one sitting albeit a stop, start sitting. It follows perfectly from the first, and you must read that one otherwise this one will not make sense. Wren has become known as the ‘Queen of Darkness’ now that she is in a powerful position within the Elite society. Then a ghost from the past shows up or rather he isn’t a ghost, Arlo has returned from the dead, except he wasn’t obvs lol
Their story re-starts with his explanation, passion and the arrival of Lumi. From this moment we are lead into their family life to their spicy, dominant relationship, along with secrets, lies and betrayals, a splattering of bl00d and a smattering of deleting (there could be more of these two 😈) Secrets have a way of showing themselves or in Wrens’ case she actively seeks them out, like a puzzle that needs finishing and like a dog with a bone or pew pew she won’t let go!
I don’t want to give you spoilers. I totally enjoyed this and it finalized the duet for me brilliantly.

This book has everything I could want from a dark mafia romance!
It had me hooked from the first page and the last 100 pages or so had me constantly on the edge of my seat. I did not see those plot twist coming and it had me gasping the entire time.
It was the perfect balance between action, plot, spice and character developement.
I can't say too much without giving any spoilers but this was so good!
The character developement was amazing! I absolutely love how badass Wren became! I love Wren and Arlo so much in this book, their relationship was everything!

I had the privilege of being an ARC reader for this book, thank you so much Jodie ❤️ First things first, the spice was beyond a 5🌶️! Jodie does so good with incorporating amazing spice and amazing plot! I’m going to miss this duet so much. Wren and Arlo’s story is so captivating and amazing. Book 1 was already amazing on its own, but book 2 really tied everything together. Awakening the beast is definitely going to be a reread for me! Ughhhh love Arlo and Wren so much !!

This is book 2 of the duet and you must read book one! This was the perfect finale of the story of Arlo and Wren. It was full of tension, heartbreak, spice, and of course all the lies and betrayal. Overall this book was beautifully written! I am a Jodie King reader for life now!

Listen, listen, listen when I say Arlo has my whole heart and soul! The way my jaw dropped open reading the way Wren found out her man was back!! The way these two are perfect for each other! When one has insecurities, the other steps in and squashes it and vise versa! The plot twists this book series has is better than any you'll find!! I don't know what Jodie sprinkles her book pages with, but all her books are addictive!!

Oh, my god. I have not had a book hangover this strong since I read the cat and mouse duet years ago. I feel like idk what to even do now that I finished this duet 😭 I binged the duet in a few days and I didn’t know what to expect from the beginning as it starts out by being introduced to Wren; a nanny for hire who is found by Arlo’s sister, Sara. Arlo had a very troubled past and at that time had a 3 year old little boy, cree, who was in need of a nanny to look after him. Initially, upon meeting Wren, Arlo didn’t want her to have the job but reluctantly saw how well she was with his son and agreed she would be a good fit. The story really takes off from there and their relationship is what some dreams are made of. He’s relentless, ruthless and downright brutal but would do anything in the world to protect the ones he loved and god bless anyone who dares touch or harm his queen. I loved this book so much - the twists and turns kept me devouring this book and staying up till 3-4am binge reading until I literally passed out with my phone still in hand. Also, The plot twist in the end took me by surprise and was not something I expected in the slightest. These books wrecked me and my emotions are not okay but ultimately I fell in love with these books, the characters, I feel like I’m mourning real life people by closing the book and putting it on the shelf knowing I’ll never get anymore wren and Arlo 😭 All in all, the only thing I can say is READ THE BOOKS! They will make you cry, swoon, and be on the edge of your seat and capture your whole heart and soul and I wish I could read them all over again for the very first time already.

This story is a duet. I’d recommend reading book 1 Unravelling the beast.
The story picks up right after the cliffhanger. So many secrets and betrayals come to light. When it comes to character development Wren & Arlo balance each other out beautifully by bringing out the best parts as individuals and together . Wren has grown so much. She’s such a fierce queen and wants answers and revenge on those who wronged them. Arlo omg he’s on another level of unhinged but I really like his character he’s had his own demons he’s been fighting and along the way finding true love in wren. She’s the light to his darkness and I enjoyed their story. I don’t wanna give too much away but I highly recommend this duet. It will keep you hooked from the beginning and the spice is top tier. Jodie King the author did an amazing job and I will definitely read whatever she writes next.

Let me start by saying that I have a lot of thoughts regarding this book. 🤔 Since I started reading again there was no book that made me feel the way “Into Darkness We Fall” by @jodie_king_author made me feel… until now!
This was emotional for me because I feel like Jodie has broken her own record in my book. I had all the “feels” reading this. Jodie does such a good job portraying the emotions on page of a fictional character that you feel that you are living the book.
In a more rational aspect, she blends seamlessly the world she created across books. Characters from her IDWF book are mentioned here but it flows with the plot and story line of this book🤯
The plot was everything that, fans of the book 🙋🏻♀️would expect and wanted. 💯💋
Arlo is a chef’s kiss character. I highlighted this bc it was so on point but Jodie says “In all the finest ways, Arlo Hayes is a wicked, sadistic genius, an enigmatic manipulator” ugh! Fuck that man is yum! Bc if you read the book you know that comment is the opposite of what it says 😆 (yeah we are all fucked in the head)
And in Wren’s case, she is Arlo’s perfect mate. She is rough, sweet, loving, slutty😉 and everything he needs when he needs it without being a pushover or a doormat. I want to be like Wren when I grow up minus the killing 🤣

Wren is a bad ass momma reeling from loosing Arlo or so she thinks. To see her go through her journey of trying to accept his return, presence and love in her life had me in tears. You felt her raw pain and hurt then her pure joy when she realizes it’s real. I felt it all! To see her step up as an Elite shows her true strength in the face of adversity!
Arlo freaking Hayes! Oh chile!!! To see him with his usual arrogant, smug, stubborn and ruthless self, I just couldn’t wait to see him in action! He showed his vulnerable side knowing he had to prove to Wren that she is it for him and he is here to stay. My heart broke for him when the truth finally came out but I’m glad Wren was there to guide him from the darkness!
I absolutely love the dynamics between Wren and Arlo. They compliment each other so well! Arlo loves the chase and Wren loves to be chased!! The power dynamic between them two is phefreakingnomenal!

I just love this father son duo literally crying buckets when Arlo finally met Cree after a long time their bond is heart touching 🥹😭 worried as arlo was thinking how cree will react to his sudden appearance he had to face cree regardless how he reacts, Cree was so happy to his Daddy 🥹 as much as Arlo is a hard nut to world he's a big softie when it comes to cree and Wren. The emotions I felt running when Arlo came face to face with Wren my emotions were heightened her seeing the love of her life infront of her came to shock at the same time sense of relief. Tho she had the right the be mad at him, for what he put her and cree through is justified.
My heart cried for Arlo and Wren they didn't deserve to be apart, they are roman Empire 🥹🥹 they both are stubborn as each other know how to push thie buttons. Together they can rule the world. "US against the world" it was exactly that , Together they can come over every obstacles that are thrown their way.
They have been through alotthe betrayal, deception, Manipulation from their own people they fought and stood by each other thick and thin and came through the otherside . They had no one except eachother 🤧 and their love ❤️🖤 and most of all they trusted each other fully that's the key in every relationship.
They were and always ne my No1 I'm so emotionally attached to Arlo and Wren the POWER COUPLE that no one can defeat PERIOD!!!!

ARLO IS BACK🔥🔥🔥
This story was probably my most anticipated read this year and once I started I couldn’t put it down till I finished it. After Unraveling the Beast I was in a complete chokehold with Arlo and Wren. I needed so much more of them. After the cliffhanger in book 1 by heart was so destroyed, and now we get the answers we have all been waiting for.
First, I am obsessed with Wren. She is a complete bada** and she is my idol. As with Arlo. They are an absolute force together and I’m here for every single bit of it. The way they love and care of each other is something I can’t even explain, you just have to read this duet to understand. Their little family together is precious 😍
Secondly, the way this duet progressed is something I won’t get over for a very long time. I was sucked in right from the very beginning in book 1 and it continued that way throughout book 2 as well. Let’s not forget the dirty mouth on Arlo. His words & actions had me panting EVERY SINGLE TIME! 🫠🥵
Lastly, that ending 🥹 Everything came together so beautifully for this couple and I couldn’t be happier. This story will forever be one of my favorites. It was dark, sexy, lots of secrets, trauma, healing and love. It was everything I wanted and more! Jodie created another masterpiece!!!

Yet another incredible read from Jodie King! She wrote such an amazing duet and both books really complement each other in the best ways. I can’t go into much detail on the plot because it would give too much away but I loved how book 1 ended and how we picked up right where it left off in book 2. I felt every emotion Wren was feeling and I loved how she became a different version of herself as the Dark Queen. She didn’t just hide away from everyone but stood her ground and became a force to be reckoned with.
Also, Arlo Freaking Hayes….i can’t get enough of this man! Jodie has created such an unhinged mmc and yet he is the most loving, amazing husband and father. I also loved that Jodie wrote Wren in such a way that she made Arlo work for his forgiveness and didn’t just immediately act like nothing happened. Well freaking done Jodie!
These books were written so well and the plot twists *chefs kiss*….I was screaming, crying, laughing, and in think I went through every emotion in both books. Just a testament to how well Jodie writes and hooks us all in until the very end. Thank you so much for writing such an amazing duet. There are seriously not enough stars to rate this book.

I had the honour of reading this book as an arc read, and loved every second of it.
This book continues straight on from book one, so you need to read book one first.
Wren is trying to get her life back on track following the death of her husband Arlo. She’s dealing with her pregnancy, caring for her son Cree and becoming the head of the Elites. That is until Arlo returns, shocking everyone, but everything is not what it seems
There’s threats at every turn, and as they try to figure out who was behind the fire that ‘killed’ Arlo, and the unaliving attempt on Wren, the truth starts to come out, and it leaves them reeling.
One thing that never changes is the relationship between wren and Arlo. His dominant and degrading behaviour is exactly what Wren needs, and she craves his touch.
Wren comes into her own in this book, truly turning into the Queen of Darkness, and proving to everyone that she is more than capable of being part of the Elites, side by side with Arlo.
The storyline was amazing, the plot twists were shocking and the spice is so dark and delicious that I’m amazed Wren can walk at all

The ending of the first book left me in shambles. But book two kicks off with Wren, who is on a mission to transform her grief into pure badassery, earning the title of The Queen of Darkness. She’s relentless in her quest for answers and vengeance and will stop at nothing to protect them.
I absolutely loved the fact that the FMC could stand up next to any of those men and do better than they do. It's very rare that you get this from a book . She is stronger than the MMC, and that is why this duet is now in my top 5 of books.
Arlo swoon is the epitome of a dark, brooding hero with a filthy mouth and enough red flags to start a parade, yet he’s the ultimate dad and partner! Together, this wild duo and their families dig up secrets, giving us the closure we desperately craved in book one.
I'm a fan till the end. I'm so thankful that I asked to sign up for ARCS even though it was only a week left, I would have never gotten this opportunity to read these books and I will be forever thankful that all I had to do was give an honest review on her book and believe me 5 starts and me screaming to the world how good it is isn't sufficient enough. Highly recommended to all go get it ASAP you won't regret it

Wren The Queen of Darkness, such a bad ass FMC that wants to avenge Arlo and what they had lost!! Nobody messes with Mrs. Hayes. And if they do they will meet their maker..
Arlo! Omg that man lives rent free in my mind! The tattoos, the piercings, the muscles the way he talks, degrades and the way he f**ks. The man of my dreams😅!!
The plot twist in this book was plot twisting! I did not see that coming but the beeps, got what was coming to them and it was well deserved!
To all the dark romance girlies who enjoy a degrading mafia boss this book is for you.

Jodie, Jodie, Jodie…you had me wanting more Arlo the moment you introduced him to me. Then ripped my heart out with the ending of Unravelling the Beast while giving me hope. I’ve been ready for this book since January and babyyyyyy it did not disappoint. I’ve been in a bit of a reading slump since. I absolutely love the world that Jodie has so beautifully created. Side note I’m just as obsessed with Wren as I am Arlo. The way these two banter and fight for control only to allow one another to take control when needed. My heart and my 🐱 swoon for Arlo 😂😂 Now I’m ready for the second generation because I already KNOW Cree and Stormy are going to make their parents seem tame. A must read, perfect amount of spice and plot 😉
