Now, this 527-page coffee table book was a trip. I finished the book this morning and I will say this. If you're not a serious football fan, a football historian, or you could care less about the Oregon vs. Oregon State rivalry, you might as well just skim through it or read a few pages of this book at the library or the bookstore.

The concept of the book was on point, but personal quotes from players and coaches involved in the Civil War rivalry carried this book.

Modern football fans of this rivalry would just pay attention to Chip Kelly's (2009-2012) and Mike Riley's (his second tour at Oregon State: 2003-2014) eras within this book I bet.

You could tell that the author of this book, Kerry Eggers, is SUPER passionate about this rivalry. He wrote so many words within this book that you got the feeling that he NEVER wanted this book to end.

I consider myself a football historian. But the best parts of this book to me, was the players and coaches quotes concerning the 1990 through 2013 seasons. Man, there were some quotes to remember in that section of the book!

In conclusion, I'm not a Civil War fan or a fan of any of the teams described in this book. But I have watched the series since the late 1990s decade and so I know what time it is with this rivalry.

As someone from Oregon, this is a very interesting book that covers the biggest rivalry in the state. Very informative and a good narrative overall.
