BIRCHWOOD BURNING

Rate this book
Dalton Grinder's life had unraveled in a brutal series of blows. First, the Army cast him aside. Then, his wife walked out, leaving him with nothing but the hollow echo of a once-shared life. As if that wasn't enough, his last remaining relative—his grandfather—passed away, closing the final chapter of his family history. Born and bred in the heat and humidity of Florida, Dalton now finds himself heading north to the cold, unforgiving woods of Wisconsin to settle his grandfather’s affairs.

But fate isn't done with him yet.

As Dalton arrives, the South is teetering on the edge of chaos. Legacy media dubs it an ‘insurrection,’ but the whispers on the ground speak of something far more ominous—the dawn of a new civil war. Birchwood Burning, the first book in the North of Eden series, unfolds against the backdrop of the Eden event, an apocalyptic event first introduced in Pete’s bestselling Three Days to Eden.

Dalton is about to discover that his battles are far from over.

Time to consider what’s coming!

As the last few years have shown, we really have a very hard time finding out who is in charge and where we are going.
The counterpoint is how strong much of the country is and how busy we are.
Enjoy this series and learn as much as you can.

Good start

A likable crew of good guys against a bunch of easy to despise scum bags in easily recognized roles. Looking forward to the next book.

Birchwood Burning

The concept of only a certain area of the country being hit with an EMP is intriguing. Also, using the internal struggles and terrorists to cause further devastation brings a twist that moves the story beyond the usual EMP narrative. Well done, Peter Robertucci!

Nathan and laughs all in too real scenario

Awesome first book in a series I will follow! The so close to home references are not lost on readers and the likable hero make this an A+++

A new scenario for a SHTFS series

The MC, Dalton is a medically discharged vet who served as a medic and refused the jab.

Divorced, and his only family left, his grandfather passed away. Dalton travels north to settle the estate and stays. Well developed characters. You like the good guys, and of course not the bad guys. The plot is insidious and believable. Buy it, read it, like it!

Interesting read

Good premise. I would have enjoyed the book more if the main characters were in 'survival mode'. Since there are three authors doing this series, I am assuming Katy Light wrote this one. There is civil unrest and they have a 'secret bunker' and now everyone knows about it?

It was well written. Great editing. Looking forward to book two.

A tale of the brewing of large scale trouble and destruction.

A riveting story of all-out destruction caused by the collapse of respect for the law and the intent of radical to ensure mayhem and the collapse of government. A intriguing story that will make you wonder if such a thing could happen in real life.

I enjoyed the characters and the storyline. I will admit that I'll likely get the next book in the series. The author obviously doesn't know what ANTIFA is or isn't, and seems to intentionally or maybe unintentionally mix the political jargon between the current two parties. Some of it is hitting a little too close to home, but the premise is still enjoyable for entertainment purposes.

Disappointed

Never knew or read about a military man being so stupid as Dalton was portrayed. I've always heard that medics in army were soldiers first then a medic. Dalton character was "woke" than soldier. Didn't expect Boyd Craven Jr to help write something like this.

Great story without all the F Bombs!!

I can't wait For the next in the series. It was a great story, well edited. I especially enjoyed reading An end of time story that didn't have the F. word every other sentence. Keep up the good work!

I couldn’t make it through the first chapter. I don’t need a lecture on the “China Virus” or all the liberal Antifa or entitled folks with dyed hair. I don’t like books that preach right wing Christian nationalism garbage even if they are written by an author I used to enjoy reading. No thanks.

What a pile of crap!!!

This is another trump conspiracy nut writing fiction in such a way that it spoils any actual plot this book has.

Somewhat Plausible Scenario

Scenario is straight out of a war gaming exercise. That’s OK. Wargaming works

Writing is very good. Will look for installment 2.

Great book, fun read. Refreshing to have he hero grow into the hero role. A little naive at first. Looking forward to see where the story takes us.

slow paced

Good story that took time to develop, but a good story nonetheless. Eight more words apparently to send this review into the either.

Another interesting plot that seems to be too close to the events happening in the USA presently. Great characters and plot with enough action to keep you on edge. Already started the next in series.
