Atticus Archer is a game designer in his 20s who is just starting to make a name for himself. His latest release is becoming more and more successful, but he nearly completely burned himself out in the process of getting it out. With enough money coming in for his immediate needs, Archer decides to return to the small town his family took summer vacations in.
While he's trying to figure out what to do with himself and recover from burnout, he notices his next door neighbor, Colleen. She's a gorgeous redhead in her 40s. They talk, hit it off, and things definitely heat up between them. What stars as a casual thing deepens slightly, and Colleen, really impressed with Atticus, wants him to start seeing her best friend Edith. Edith is trying to start her own business and is coming off a bad marriage (something she and Colleen share) and Colleen figures Edith needs to just actually relax and see that not all men are bad. Atticus, indulging in his attraction to older women, is happy to help.
Then there's his landlady in his rented cabin, who was a close friend from childhood. Kate, it seems, has her own designs on Atticus, and all three of the ladies come to an arrangement.
It was a fun read. Atticus has a lot more depth than you'd think at first glance, and he genuinely cares about the women in his life. I enjoyed this, and would read another in the series if the author gets to one.
