In New Oslo, the sweetest treats hide the darkest secrets...
Lena Larsen's first date with Sheriff Mark was supposed to be enjoy the local Bake-Off festival and indulge in some delicious pastries. But when the head judge drops dead in front of the whole town, Lena's plans for romance are put on hold.
Armed with her grandmother's ghostly advice and her own keen eye for detail, Lena can't help but stick her nose where it doesn't belong. As she uncovers a web of rivalries, resentments, and hidden affairs, she realizes that in New Oslo, even the most respected citizens have something to hide.
With the killer still at large and the whole town under suspicion, Lena must race against time to solve the case. But in a place where everyone knows everyone else's business, can she uncover the truth before it's too late? And will her budding romance with Mark survive her amateur sleuthing?
This time the adventure is centered around a baking contest. Who knew that winning first prize was so deadly. The characters are more believable with each story, the plot is easily followed, and the premise is finding out who killed the head judge in the baking contest and why. The answers were a bit too easily found and the killer cornered. Still I do recommend this short story.
