Not the Typical Self-Help Book

I borrowed this book thanks to the Kindle Unlimited subscription I share with my girlfriend, and I read it between my phone and tablet using the Kindle app.

Even though this book may look like a typical self-help book, I’ll tell you why I found it different from the millions of similar books out there.
First, this book starts with a very honest personal story from the author, which sets the context for the rest of the book. Following this honesty, evident from the first chapter, the author provides a huge amount of tips and good practices. Most of these are well-known, but I was pleasantly surprised by others, like the hot and cold showers or finding a great laugh.
To finish, in the second part of the book, the author also includes a list of drug-related practices (which I didn’t like or agree with) that you might consider if needed or if you are looking for that kind of treatment.

In summary, if you’re looking for a different kind of self-help book, you might want to try this one.

Perfect self help book

The author starts out this book with a very personal story of their own which creates a deeper connection with us readers.

The first half of the book offers a wide list of different tips and good practices to use for each situation. I really liked that at the end of each section, there was a practice exercise for us (the readers) to try to help.

The second half of the book includes the drug options, if that's the way you need to go and the first half doesn't do the trick.

The author covers her bases and gives the readers different answers, solutions, and things to try whether it be something as simple as a hot shower or a supplement to help. This is the kind of book you will want to keep as a reference as healing is ongoing.

As someone who suffers from chronic pain and the emotional turmoil that comes with it, I really appreciated the author’s wisdom of not escaping pain, but rather, confronting the lessons that it is here to teach us.

If you are searching for a self help book that a little different from the rest than I would suggest giving this one a try.

I picked up Activating the Truth: 55 Sacred Healing Practices for Alchemizing Pain, Liberating Yourself and Remembering Who You Are by BeyondSightG because I’ve been discovering how much attention my body requires as I age. In reading this book I found that I had participated in many of these healing practices already like changing my internal monologue, meditating, fasting, prayer, and movement and dance. But the book also shares many practices that are new to me and I made a note of a few that I think would be helpful to try. I particularly enjoyed the section on transforming negative momentum into positive change starting with manageable changes to steer my life in a new direction as it was affirming of my recent practice. The two new practices I plan to try next are The Perspective Game, Healing Laughter and Lyrics Rewritten. There are a few practices included that I’m not ready for but perhaps in the future. This is the kind of book you will want to keep as a reference as healing is ongoing.

I loved this inspiring and transformative read! The author is completely open with sharing her journey with the reader. I was hooked from the very start, as her story is so honest and relatable.

As someone who has suffered from chronic pain and the emotional turmoil that comes with it, I really appreciated the author’s wisdom of not escaping pain, but rather, confronting the lessons that it is here to teach us.

The author covers many (55 to be exact) healing practices that the reader can use to heal both physical and emotional pain, including EFT, meditation, detoxing, and more. Each section describes the healing practice in detail and contains practical advice for getting started.

While it’s possible that not all of the practices will resonate with you (I wasn’t personally interested in the sections on LSD or other hallucinogenic drugs), if you’d like to heal your mind, body, and spirit, there are definitely practices in this book that can help you!

Living in love, truth by liberating yourself!

Author, BeyondSightG, has just blown my mind with her story behind, “Activating the Truth”, and let me you, “her journey wasn’t easy”!
I really enjoyed the story behind everything as the author dived deeper into, “Ways she moved forward” and “shares them in great detail for readers who are looking for healing”. ❤️‍🩹
This isn’t your ordinary, “self help book “, it goes beyond anything I’ve read! Chapter by chapter the author dives deeper into practices for alchemizing pain, releasing and letting go, and the death of your ego !
At last, one is free to recall, “Who they are”..

Full of healing methods to explore

Activating the Truth provided 55 healing practices to remind yourself of who you really are: perfect. I saw it as an educational tool, allowing me to better understand the ways that I can lean into my truth even more. The author starts the book saying just that, use these 55 options to peak your interest and lean into the ways that feel right. This was refreshing because so many say "do what worked for me, it will work for you!"

Before going into the 55 methods the author provides a brief story of her experiences of life and a glimmer into why she leaned into healing. It provides a reminder that these are the methods that she has tried and can work for you but may not be the right path for all.

There was a section on using drugs to elicit a healing experience and the author provides her experiences with each one. This was wonderful to better understand what possibilities lie in them and get a glimpse of what to expect. It would have been nice to see her reflections for the other healing practiceso as well.

The book reminded of tools, provided more options, and got me curious about others. It allowed me to do healing that I was ready for.

Most shadow work books say the exact same crap. This one was different and gives techniques that I never even heard of. Author doesn't overexplain and to the point. Nice tool book!

Activating the Truth is not your typical self-help book. I imagine most readers will find things they love about this book, things they don’t love so much, and things that might seem a bit “out there” but perhaps worth trying.

The “My Story” part of the book at the start is un-put-downable thanks to the author’s openness and, quite frankly, messy life that makes for stimulating reading. Of course, the many hardships she went through as a younger person also make her a sympathetic figure and someone you’re rooting for right away.

Some of the more well-known practices the author recommends include reprogramming the subconscious mind, manifesting toward a positive path, and reigning in negative emotions. Other popular recommendations include fasting, detoxing, doing breathwork, and praying. The author also does an excellent job of recommending books, movies, and videos that she feels will uplift and assist people.

You can tell the author genuinely wants to improve her life – and other people’s lives – and in some cases she comes up with her own clever ways to do so. From dancing to hot and cold therapy, there are numerous practices in this book that intrigued me and that I might try someday. I can’t get behind some of the drug-related practices she recommends, which include using marijuana and LSD. These recommendations are puzzling to me given the author’s admitted heavy drug use in the past, a habit she admirably quit. As a side note, I’m not sure why the increasingly potent marijuana floating around in today’s society gets a free pass when it comes to drugs, especially when more and more research is showing its harmful effects.

Of course, the author conveys at the start that not all the practices she recommends are for everybody, and people should pick and choose what might work best for them. As works in ever-constant progress, we all can benefit from something in Activating the Truth.

Activating the Truth: 55 Sacred Healing Practices for Alchemizing Pain, Liberating Yourself, and Remembering Who You Are is a deeply insightful and inspiring book that offers a holistic approach to healing and self-discovery. The author presents a collection of 55 sacred practices, each designed to help readers navigate emotional pain, release limiting beliefs, and step into their authentic selves.

One of the standout aspects of this book is its practicality. Rather than just discussing healing in an abstract way, the author provides clear, actionable exercises that can be integrated into daily life. Whether it’s breathwork, meditation, energy work, or mindset shifts, each practice is carefully explained, making it accessible to both beginners and those already on a spiritual path.

Another strength of the book is its gentle, encouraging tone. The author speaks with compassion and wisdom, making the reader feel supported and empowered throughout their healing journey. The book does not impose a rigid set of beliefs but instead invites readers to explore what resonates with them, allowing for a personalized experience.

If there is one area where the book could expand, it would be in offering more scientific explanations behind some of the practices, especially for those who prefer a balance between spirituality and evidence-based approaches. However, the spiritual depth and emotional resonance of the book make up for this, creating a truly uplifting and transformative read.

Overall, Activating the Truth is a powerful guide for anyone seeking inner healing and self-liberation. It’s a book that you can return to again and again, finding new insights with each read. Highly recommended!

Energy, Awareness and healing. This transformative, soul-nourishing guide invites you to embark on a profound journey of self-discovery, healing, and personal empowerment. From the first page, the book feels like a hug, offering encouragement through its heartfelt tone and relatable stories.
The emphasis on remembering rather than learning is a powerful reminder that the wisdom we seek often lies dormant within us, waiting to be awakened.
I particularly loved the Mary Jane guide, which provided a balanced and thoughtful perspective. The chapter on energy transference illuminated the invisible yet impactful exchanges we experience daily. These practical insights apply directly to me.
The book’s greatest strength is the author's vulnerability. Sharing personal struggles and triumphs establishes an authentic connection, imbuing every experience with empathy and hope.
From breathwork to meditation, energy healing to reframing limiting beliefs, each chapter provides actionable tools that empower readers to take charge of their own healing journey.
The book’s uplifting and honest tone is a treat to read – and the concise 55 chapters—make it easy to digest, meaning you can explore it at your own pace, which I am still doing.
Whether you seek to overcome past traumas, deepen your spiritual connection, or simply explore new ways of being, this book invites you to step into your light and live with purpose and authenticity.

Activating the Truth is a deeply personal guide for anyone seeking healing, self-discovery, and empowerment. BeyondSightG shares her transformative journey from pain and darkness to self-acceptance and inner peace, offering readers practices designed to help them reclaim their authentic selves.

What stands out most is the raw honesty and vulnerability in the author’s storytelling. Each exercise, from reprogramming the subconscious to connecting with the inner child, is thoughtfully presented with clear steps, making it accessible even to beginners on their spiritual path.

The diversity of methods explored in the book is impressive. From reframing negative experiences as blessings to embracing plant medicines and epiphanies, the author provides a broad toolkit that allows readers to customize their journey. Some practices are gentle and reflective, while others challenge you to confront deep-seated emotional blocks, making this book adaptable for wherever you are on your path to healing.

I appreciated the flexibility of the structure; you can dive into chapters that resonate most without feeling the need to follow a linear progression. For those skeptical of more unconventional approaches, the author’s humble and open tone creates a safe space to explore new perspectives without feeling pressured.

Overall, Activating the Truth is perfect for readers ready to release past pain, embrace self-love, and transform their struggles into wisdom and growth.

Book Review
I enjoyed the book. The short chapters provided an easy to read, entertaining and enjoyable experience.
The author grabbed my attention right away when she spoke about her life’s story so far. I thought it was going to be like everyone else, where she blames others for her problems. But she surprised me when she spoke about being a victor rather than a victim. She gained my respect, which made the rest of the book enjoyable.

Without going into too much detail about the books topics, I will say that I agreed with many of the healing practices. I liked that author gave the reader tangible practices to work on. It wasn’t just what to do. It was how to do it.

The one thing that prevents me from giving it a 5* review is really just personal preference. I have a hard time getting on board with the paranormal, almost voodoo practices. It just isn’t my thing. I completely believe in the power of manifestation and the law of attraction. But some of the practices were either just plain weird, too out there for me or simply unhealthy. You’ll never convince me that doing LSD or mushrooms is healthy. Personal preference. Agree to disagree.

That being said, I enjoyed the layout of the book. I liked the short chapters, which start by explaining each healing practice. Then I appreciated the actual practice instructions.

I believe this book can help anyone who has trauma, which is everyone. Take from it what you like.

“Activating The Truth” is a sincere effort to help anyone struggling to deal with anything. By this I mean that the author is not preaching a viewpoint. They are instead discussing numerous things that they have tried that have helped in small or large ways, then giving a number of jumping off points for you to explore the thing yourself in your own way. In other words: I tried this thing; it helped for these reasons; if you decide to try it, here are some resources you can decide to explore; when exploring them, be careful to, or be careful not to, do/not do x, y, and z.

You’ll have heard of some of the methods or devices or techniques, such as meditation. What is great is that because the author is not just trying to convince everyone that only one thing is helpful and everything else won’t work, the author covers them all, while also recounting personal experiences with it, and what the author found helpful about it.

By covering so many potentially helpful actions, the author has to keep the language short and simple, and there’s nothing more helpful than that. After all, this is more of an introduction to all the many things you can try to improve yourself or your situation; and with a short, helpful description, you can pick the promising ones, and continue to explore them through other resources – often using the resources recommended by this book.

I expected a self-help book to be full of meditation and mindfulness. What I didn’t expect to read was the author’s raw and gritty introduction to the book as she discussed her emotionally distant parents, a spiral into drug addiction and thoughts of suicide. It is a very personal and uncomfortable account of light shining out of darkness as she decided to try to re-discover the spiritual energy she had experienced as a child. She worked through her pain to gain a spiritual awakening that didn’t replace the darkness, but rather overshadowed any negativity from her past. She shares practices that guided her to a feeling of wholeness and freedom. The book encourages readers to be self-aware, focus on the good in your life and be grateful for it. One of the most interesting concepts of the book is to turn gossip about yourself into a positive – if people are taking the energy to gossip about you, see it as an investment made into your energetic account to make you stronger. Great advice for dealing with anxiety caused by other people’s perceptions of you.

Activating the Truth is a uplighting and enlightening approach to self care. Part self help book, part memoir, the author lays out their journey and paths the way for others to follow. It is a journey of self discovery, helping the reader to acknowledge their situation, what they can change, and how they can go about delivering it.

I think what made this book different is the personal approach. The author goes into detail about their struggles, helping any reader suffering to relate and identify the problems in their lives. They then move on to the practical elements and changing your mindset in relation to pain and letting go. I found these areas much more accessible and helpful than many self help books.

I think the dark areas of the author’s past really do help bring this book to life. It isn’t a science book full of mindfulness and theories, but something lived, something raw, something that can help a sufferer know they are not alone. For this reason, I liked this much more than other books in the genre.

The author starts with her own story. She tells you things that happen to her and the feelings that aroused, especially emptiness. This part of the book is graphic and helps understand where the author was coming from. I like that the author tells about the important people in their life and how their history led them to be like they were to her. I like the chapter on awareness. It reminds me of techniques like thought stopping and positive thinking. I loved that there were step by step instructions for doing this. There were step by step instructions in the crying section too. I especially like the self talk expression, where you actually vocalize. I’ve found this to be helpful throughout my life. There are many chapters like this in the book. What I love most is that you can so easily try out what the author recommend, because of the steps she lays out. If you like the practice keep it. If not, stop doing it. It’s that simple. The best I can tell you is that this book is worth a try. I think it will help you.

‘Activating the Truth’ by BeyondSight is a self-help book that outlines 55 sacred healing practices for alchemizing emotional pain and liberating oneself so you can remember who you are. The book begins with a touching story of the author's troubled youth, from an emotionally neglected and physically abused childhood through drug-addicted and suicidal teen years. Her downward spiral was followed by the realization that she needed to change the course of her life, and develop strategies to change course and promote self-healing. The guide stresses developing self-awareness, crying to promote relief, encouraging self-talk, positive self-gossip, harnessing negative energy, using reading and movies for catharsis, and reprogramming your subconscious mind, as well as many other healing techniques. These techniques are outlined, along with specific exercises or practices to promote their productive use. The book is recommended for those whose life has gone off track, who wish to set themselves right again.

“Activating the Truth: 55 Sacred Healing Practices for Alchemizing Pain, Liberating Yourself, and Remembering Who You Are” by BeyondSightG, is a spirituality/self-help book that presents a mix of conventional and more controversial or unscientific methods. The author relates her own past experience, including her distant parents who divorced, suffering from molestation in 6th grade, and overcoming depression and suicidal thoughts. The book advertises that it can help you: heal your inner child, eliminate your insecurities, move on from your past and let go, and turn pain into power.
Some of the conventional advice includes: focus upon what is good and engage with beauty, such as nature or art; replace negative self-talk with positive self-talk; cry when you feel the need; and redirect negative energy.
The author also advised readers to watch a movie called “What the Bleep Do You Know?,” as well as several mainstream movies. The recommended use of hallucinogenic drugs gave me pause (advised with all due precautions and under experienced supervision).

Interesting ideas

This book is a heartwarming read, with a tone that is warm and relatable. The practices the author shared are interesting and transformative as they gently guide you toward deeper self-awareness and healing. I like the emphasis on integrating your shadow side and finding peace within. The sections on self-forgiveness and letting go of the past were incredibly moving. Moving on is never easy, so the author encourages you to shift your mindset and embrace compassion for yourself. I also liked the focus on reframing negative experiences and learning from them rather than letting them define you. The steps feel doable and relatable, although some of the ideas the author shared in this book I wouldn't exactly call sacred. I have read many self-help books, and this book is different and an interesting one to read to help with personal growth and self-love. If you are in a place where you are ready to look inward and heal, this book is one resource worth exploring.

self healing practices

This book explores self-healing and transformation, mixing personal stories with different practices to help readers work through emotional and spiritual growth. There are some interesting insights, and a few of the techniques could be useful for anyone looking into alternative healing. That said, some ideas are pretty out there and won’t be for everyone.

A few approaches, like the use of plant medicines and other unconventional methods, might be a bit controversial. While they’re presented as part of a bigger toolkit for self-discovery, it’s the kind of thing where everyone will take away something different, depending on what speaks to them.

Overall, the book has a reflective and motivational tone, encouraging readers to explre new ways of thinking. It’s a decent read if you’re open to different perspectives, but not all of it will click with everyone. If you’re after something more grounded, some parts might feel a bit too out there but still a good read.

Activating the Truth: 55 Sacred Healing Practices for Alchemizing Pain, Liberating Yourself, and Remembering Who You Are is a genuinely fascinating guidebook to all the different ways out there to make you feel a more whole or better version of yourself, able to handle life’s difficulties. All the various experiences which the author went through to sort out her life are written up in clear, short chapters explaining what the ‘therapy’ was and how it was conducted, as well as the author’s reflections on that experience. I was so impressed by how many different things she tried in order to find herself. Some, such as meditation, yoga, prayer and so forth, are commonplace. Ice baths and tree-hugging are less commonplace, but some are extreme, such as the various visits to Shamans and the purgings. If you are interested in self-help, there will certainly be some interesting revelations in this book which you can learn about but are not compelled to try. This is a very informative guidebook.

Activating the Truth: 55 Sacred Healing Practices for Alchemizing Pain, Liberating Yourself, and Remembering Who You Are by BeyondSightG is a fairly interesting book detailing the author’s healing journey. The beginning details all the traumas that the author went through from childhood until her decision to heal and reinvent her life. The next section is a collection of practices, such as meditation, deep breathing, detoxing, fasting, hot and cold therapy, and many, many more that I was not at all familiar with. It seems more of a list of suggestion of practices, and I would have liked more depth and information about each of them. The last section is another collection - this time plant medicines and hallucinogens - which I found hard to reconcile with the author’s previous admission of drug addiction and desire to become clean. A good introduction to some alternative practices, but more details about each of them would be beneficial.

Activating the Truth: 55 Sacred Healing Practices for Alchemizing Pain, Liberating Yourself, and Remembering Who You Are is a great book that I really enjoyed and learned a lot from. The author opens up and provides a window to some of their difficult experiences. I thought that the honesty and vulnerability really added to the value of the teachings. The book itself is 55 healing practices or teachings that cover a wide range of purposes and uses. The writing style is knowledgeable while still being accessible to the magically uninitiated. There is a lot of variety offered in the 55 healing practices. My personal favorites included: "Book Spirits" p.38, Mary Jane Guide" p.76, "Pitch Black Darkness" p.86, "Dying Anew" p.102, and "Lyrics Rewritten" p.117. The author is clearly educated and experienced in the treatment of trauma. I am glad that the author shared some of their personal experiences while putting together this excellent collection. I highly recommend this book!

I loved this book! So many of the sentences are so quotable! I resonated deeply with the author's path to healing. As someone who has also experienced deep emotional pain due to living with people with addiction, I understood what she was going through as a child and young adult.

One critique stated that most of the healing techniques shared in this book were nothing original. I want to point out that most of us never heal because we don’t realize the ways we can do the healing are very simple and nothing outlandishly crazy. The author talked about allowing ourselves to cry in a safe space, and not judging our emotions. While we all know that crying is healthy, explaining it in that way was a fresh perspective on a known subject. Many of her suggestions are similar. This book brings many fresh perspectives to healing, and reminds us that anyone can do the healing techniques shared within these pages. What a great read!
