“Eloquent and hard muscled. Deeply researched and deftly imagined. The Reckoning is an entrancing, fantastical journey to an end you will never see coming. The good news is it is just the beginning.” –Michael Connelly (The Lincoln Lawyer, Bosch.)

Good Friday 1917. Hell unleashed.

A biblical scale apocalypse engulfs the world. As the raging St. Quentin flood recedes, with hours to go until the sanctuary of sunrise, Durant's company is splintered by the monsters of their pasts. Risking all, Isaiah and Juddha Jai attempt to rescue their captured companions from the fortified Roman dead in the St. Quentin Munitions Dump, while in the British tank, Caitlin does what she can to keep the rest of their company alive until dawn. All the while, the past and present continue to rise and haunt them, intent on hunting them down. Any hope of survival continues to fade, and the threat of a brutal end is the only thing they can be sure of as the bill for their sins comes due in the fourth brutal installment of Jeffrey Pierce's The Reckoning series.

It's been said that a writer should "write what you know" and my life seems to have had numerous lifetimes crammed into it already. I've walked the warrior's path, trained as a traditional shaman, and devoted a good portion of my time for countless years teaching people how to think outside the box and find themselves.

Somehow I still manage to find time to slip into a sea kayak or throw on a backpack and disappear into the wilderness for a few days at a time.

The books I write tend to be set in places that I've visited, from big cities to the heart of the forest. As an exhibited photographer, I try to bring the same perspective to my writing that I see through the camera's lens. I find that there are stories everywhere, tucked away in the folds of seemingly normal moments. My goal is to show you a glimpse of those tales and offer you an escape into my world and allow you to leave your own behind for a time.

The fourth book in the installment keeps the pressure on the beleaguered heroes, maintaining the same breathless pace that pulled me through the first three books in record time. But this time we get a twist a the author gives us some tantalizing insights into what's really going on at that gas station in the desert. The ending will leave you thirsting for the final installment. Like the first three, this book hits hard, both with violence, horror, and an unflinching look at mankind's history. Five stars!
