Eleanor finds herself in a brand new world, full of whimsical critters and fae. Upon her arrival she discovers that not only was she born in this estranged realm, but she is the long lost Maven. The master of the Five Magicks. Confused, disoriented and scared; Eleanor is met by several strangers who help her in her journey. However there is one who is more mysterious than the rest.
While it’s just the first volume, the visuals are stunning and the plot is paced perfectly to let you experience the whimsical world that Eleanor has found herself in.
There a bit of Alice in Wonderland meets Beauty and the Beast vibes but with its own original take. Also don’t let the chapter one mention scare you, it’s essentially volume one of a graphic novel series.
eee!!! I am in love with this story!!! i got it from the author at their booth at a book festival in Nashville and waited to read it in a quiet moment after the semester was over and ah!!! brilliant. the lighting in these pages??? and the facial expression are so great!! and the giant woman omg. that one page is just stunning- I absolutely love the shift from small images to one large single page single image. the pacing is excellent and well done throughout. excited to read more!! also I love how the main character and the readers are going through this together in a way and learning things as the protag happens across them. and the beauty of this world is gorgeous- i cannot wait to see more parts of it
Love the use of light and color by the artist. This chapter feels like it’s setting up the world and introducing the main characters, all which have fun designs. Big dream-like energy. Looking forward to what’s next!
3.5⭐️ Nothing major happened yet but I’m liking it so far. The art is gorgeous. So far my favorite character is the French pixie. Can’t wait to read the next one.
