No More From Hurt Never Told To Transformational Truth
In the depths of despair, contemplating suicide, I gazed out a rain-streaked window in Maryland, where blurred colors in a parking lot mirrored my shattered soul. The shame of being sexually abused haunted me with recurring nightmares and PTSD, leading to a life cloaked in a complex facade of military titles and untold secrets.
In this powerful memoir, published poet and author Adam Volant shares his raw and inspiring testimony of overcoming unimaginable brokenness to achieve success. Rising from the ashes of childhood abuse, he ascended to the rank of flag officer in the military’s most specialized cyber operations, embodying authentic leadership.
Centered around a poignant poem written during his darkest moments, this honest portrayal sheds light on the deep wounds many silently endure. After years of struggling to cover, reconcile, and cope with personal and military trauma, the frail lies tied to alcohol and drugs nearly led to his demise.
No More Secrets is not just a story of survival, but a beacon of hope and transformation. This intensely personal memoir reveals how the most horrific experiences can be transformed into a journey towards healing and truth. This book will resonate with anyone seeking to understand the profound impact of abuse, the challenges of living with PTSD, and the resilience of the human spirit. Through his journey, Adam Volant exemplifies the power of authentic the willingness to absorb mistakes to make imperfection useful in order to enable the possibility of turning pain into purpose.
This is a powerful memoir about overcoming abuse that I think will resonate with many people. This is well written and very moving. This is for anyone looking for a story of redemption and purpose. I would highly recommend this! Special Thank You to Adam Volant, ACV Publishing and NetGalley for allowing me to read a complimentary copy in exchange for an honest review.
Special thank you to Adam Volant, ACV Publishing and NetGalley for an ARC of this powerful and deeply reflective memoir. A recommended read for those who are curious about mental health, addictions and trauma.
I was drawn to this book as one who survived a similar childhood. As a matter of fact, I was almost certain my brother had written this book using a pseudonym. The similarities are frightening- from the sexual abuse perpetrator named Tom to the military career.
I could relate to the author strongly in the beginning of the book, where the preface is one big apology. Victims/survivors seem to spend an enormous amount of time apologizing for things that they don’t have ownership in.
I am so grateful to Mr. Volant for his courage in sharing his story. I have no doubt it will inspire others and help other SA victims find their own voice.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. The opinions expressed are fully my own.
My hat is off to anyone who has the courage to invite complete strangers into their life. So much about the author's life is shared from traumatic moments as a child, to time served in the military, and the struggles that came both during and after. While parts of the book were uncomfortable to read- it makes my heart so heavy at the thought of anyone hurting a child- I am so glad the author was willing to shed light on that part of his past and his personal experiences with PTSD. It seems to be such a taboo subject- males expressing their struggles and their need for help. I am glad the author was able to seek and receive help, but shed more light on the subject.
This book is inspiring to anyone who has gone through of these abuses and suffered in silence. Thank you for your service to our country and being courageous in every fight that you had with adults, peers , other countries. YOU ARE A SURVIVOR . Thank You.
