My ex's bad decisions got him killed. Now, I'm on the run.
Working at a funeral home seemed like a safe way to lay low—until one of the bodies jumped off the table and attacked me.
Forced to hit the road again, I end up stranded in Shadow Ridge when my car breaks down. Desperate, I break into what I thought was an empty house, only to come face-to-face with a dangerously handsome werewolf.
He’s intense, lethal, and says he wants to help. But with danger closing in from every direction, I can’t decide what’s the people chasing me… or trusting him with my heart.
This book was doing a lot for it to be a little over 100 pages. If it were longer, things could’ve been fleshed out more, and I probably would’ve enjoyed it more.
About 40% of our time is spent establishing the dynamics of Antoine and Celeste’s relationship and the consequences of Celeste witnessing his murder. The remainder of the book takes place in Shadow Creek, but things felt hella rushed.
I feel like we didn’t get to sit with the feelings brewing between Sadiq and Celeste long enough. On one page they were just being friendly, on the next page they kissing, and on basically the next page, they talking about trust and wanting to be together. Like what? How did we get here y’all?
Cause at that point, it had only been about two days since her car broke down and there hadn’t been any mention of Sadiq and Celeste being fated mates. If they were fated, I’d get it. I don’t think they are though. It’s never mentioned. Sadiq brought up the idea of them becoming mates but it wasn’t on no “We’re supposed to be together” type shit.
Besides that, the death of the Big Bad was pretty anticlimactic. We spent all this time with Celeste being on the run and this 🥷🏾 was easily handled. Girl 😒
Which leads me to this: How was Celeste found not once but twice? Her mom said she used a PI, but Celeste knew no one other than that lady in the town before. She didn’t tell anyone where she was going. Also, I doubt Celeste used her debit card in Shadow Creek since her previous job paid her in cash and Sadiq paid for everything. 2+2 is equaling 5 in this situation.
Anyway, I’m happy Colby came back and seemed to be thriving in the epilogue. His appearance in the beginning made my heart hurt for him.
Lucian, Nico, and Champagne from “Snowed in with the Alphas” make a small but significant appearance. Champagne helped Celeste figure out a way to make money while she’s in Shadow Wolf Creek.
Wow! This was an absolutely exhilarating read! From the very first page, I was completely hooked! My heart truly went out to Celestine as she navigated her struggles. I was so thrilled when Sadiq swooped in and opened her eyes to a whole new world. Their journey of healing together was simply beautiful! And let’s not forget Colby—seeing him finally enjoy being a kid was the cherry on top! I’m absolutely loving this collaboration and seeing familiar characters from previous books makes it all the more special. I can’t recommend The Snowed In series enough! It's a must-read!
It was almost there! I really like Sadiq. Celeste was cool too. She just confused me.
Was her mother cold and condescending, or warm and loving? Colby’s cake scene, she said she grew up with a warm mother who struggled to make it and doted on her daughter. In other scenes, she’s cold and distant, borderline emotional abusive. Those instances can impact a person’s core character, so I really wanted to know. Then the mom at the end seemed random and rushed.
I wish I got more of her and Sadiq. Honestly there wasn’t much on them as a couple. Just her taking up space at his house.
Even though Antoine wasn't faithful when he found his fated mate he should have said something to Celestine but what's done in the dark always comes out. Being a BBW human dating a shifter has it's ups and downs but the heart wants what it wants but when you are fed up things change it was sad what happened to Antoine but she was blessed with a precious gift as well as meeting her fated mate whom happens to be an outcast for protecting his sister who still turned her back on him for.protecting her. Wish it was a little longer so that their bond could have grown as well as seeing if Colby finally fitted in and got the childhood he deserved.
Celeste stumbled upon a house to find out that it was a home. she found more love and care than she had anywhere. she found understanding, love, consideration... all the things that she had been looking for. she found a man who accepted her and her baby. and vowed to love them both. protect them. he wanted the whole package. he became the family that she needed. that she deserved. and even embraced the bonus child that he just found out about. he went from being a single man and outcast to a family of four in a short time. and was happy for it. a real man.
This storytelling was somewhat compelling. However, there were a few glaring problems. For instance, Celeste's was only a few weeks pregnant, according to the nurse, yet when she escaped and got to Sadiq, she already had a baby bump. There was no identifiable segue between her meeting Sadiq and Shug's death, which made it seem like there were a few weeks, maybe a month and a half between the two. Perhaps the epilog could have made it more clear that it was 7-8 months later to get the buy-in from the reader.
This series was really good. At first I thought it was going to be like the first book, abuse and a dude talking crazy to his woman. But nah, she did run away like the first girl and got caught up with a wolf. She got her happy ending and she deserved it. The tables will turn when you’re doing wrong to someone, so don’t!! karma is a b**** on to the next read ☺️
This was a good story line. It had a great deal of what life could be like in certain ways. The choices were made and the consequences that came from them. Yet there is the silver lining and good people who come to help. A good read and an easy follow. The only thing missing was the woman she ran to needed taken down.
I really felt bad for Celeste she was going through a lot with her ex and family issues with her mom. But when things took a turn for the worse she finds herself in another town trying to create a better life. And that’s when she meet Sadiq who changed her life for the better. I’m glad it all worked out in the end.
This was a different take on a fated mate situation. I honestly didn’t know where it was gonna go but I stayed for the ride. Still looking for flights, trains or bus tickets to Shadow Wolf Creek.
I love the pacing of this story. It was action packed. I read it one nights. I was refreshing from other werewolf romances. It was different in a good way. I look forward to reading more by this author!!
Had to dnf. It started with the fmc acknowledging that her SHIFTER boyfriend was cheating and constantly embarrassing her.....absolutely-the FUCK-not! Clicked through to 100% to give sis the credit for a full read.
So I began this series with the book His Little Mate: An African American Paranormal Romance by Melody Lynch. I just had to find out more. Let me tell you. It was great to have a conclusion to the previous story I started with. 🥰
A good man was waiting for her. She just has to see the truth and did in a big way. Sometimes your life has to be shaken up for you to find the right path
Loved the strength that Celeste had, even though she didn't think she had. Sadiq was sweet and gave her the stability and love that she never had. Good story!
