You are missing out if you’ve never read a Kristy Marie book.

𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞’𝐬 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭—𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐛𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬, 𝐢𝐧 𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐰𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐤𝐚𝐠𝐞—𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐨𝐞𝐬 𝐦𝐞 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐲𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠.

If you are looking for tons of spice, you won’t find that here. But what you will find is a heartwarming emotional story that will make you laugh out loud, tons of chemistry, banter, witty comebacks, and a side of steam. 🩷

I can’t wait for the spinoff series!!!

This is the sequel to IOU I've been waiting for a long time, and I loved every second of this book.

You haven't read IOU?
What are you waiting for?
It's an amazing romance and I loved it to pieces.

Yes, I love all her books and that's no a secret, but this book is one of her best romances in my opinion.
Emotional, dramatic and heartbreakingly authentic.

You know what's a perfect romance?
When you're so emotionally involved that you can't stop reading a book until it's over.
And you're thinking about it long after you read the book.
That's one of these stories.

I love these great, smart and stubborn characters.
They're like two hurricanes 🌀 and despite the explosive attraction and constant banter, not always funny, they're so perfect for each other.

Yes, the characters are young, but they're not behaving like young people.
Maybe because they move in the world of adults and act more adult than the intelligent power-businessmen.

I can't write more without spoilers.
I'm just sad that the book is over so fast 😢.
I've really enjoyed this book 🥰.

This book is a sequel to IOU and has to be read after that book.
It's not a standalone.

3.5 I was so excited for this one but it didn’t quite hit the spot that I wanted it too.

Maverick & Ainsley are two of my most beloved characters in a book, but this book just didn’t do them justice. It was lacking Ainsley and her crazy, Maverick and his sexiness and Sebastian & Rowan and their sarcasm. And Bostic, it lacked the Bostic touch we know and love.

My first problem was that even though we get the perfect epilogue in IOU, this book takes us back to a year later… not a year after the epilogue from book 1, no, no, no, but a year later after Mav & Ainsley started dating. I get that as an author you want to add another book to a series that was written a while ago, but doing it this way didn’t work for me.

Also the premise was good. Someone trying to take down Mav and all he’s worked hard to build by using his Achilles heel. It just didn’t do what it needed to do. There was too much time spent in Mav & Ainsley’s heads arguing with themselves about how they’re lying to each other. Throw in some sexy times and that’s pretty much the book. What I needed was build up. I liked that the two of them were lying to each other, I really didn’t need their
constant whining about it.

Is it worth the read? Yes, I think many fans of the first book will like it. It just wasn’t right for me

Maverick and Ainsley stole my heart in the book IOU and I was excited to read this one and while I can say I still love the couple, at times it seems they took a huge step back and were immature. Which I understand that they’ve had a lot going on and struggles but I figured there would be more growth in them and maturity as this being the second book to their story. But I did enjoy their HEA at the end.

WOW, just WOW! You Owe Me is the sequel to IOU and I devoured every word like it was the last I'd ever had the pleasure of reading. IOU was my first Kristy book and she instantly became one of my favorite authors and I've held these characters in my heart for years. To get to revisit them and see them grow (and deal with some new drama) makes me so freaking happy.

Revisiting Maverick and Ainsley was an experience, one that had me in a delicious chokehold, while simultaneously providing lots of laughter and a few tears. I love the sequel just as much as I love the original...would I ask for a third installment...yes, yes I would! These characters, the plot, the story...a masterpiece!

Easily one of my favorites reads of 2025!

Here's a few teasers...

He grunts. Which, translated from Maverick-ese, means: maybe you’re right, but I’ll die before admitting it.

"My lab partner thinks I’m unhinged. She wears Crocs unironically, so who's the real monster here?" “Come on, Crocs aren’t that bad. I happen to like them.” Bostic reaches for a fry. “They’ve got… ventilation. And sport mode.” I wrinkle my nose. “No shoe should have modes, Boss. That’s not fashion; that’s a Transformer.”

He thinks this is a game. He thinks I hand out favors like candy and collect IOUs like friendship bracelets. He doesn’t get it. That every deal I make, every card I write, comes with weight. The people who come to me desperate, quiet, careful, they’re the ones who know the rules. They don’t ask how it works. They just say yes and wait for the call. Because they know when I call it in, they’ll do what I ask. No matter what it is. No questions. No warning. And absolutely no telling anyone.

"You taste like trouble," he murmurs against my ribs, and I can feel his smile.
"Good trouble or bad trouble?"
"The kind that makes me forget why I ever thought having self-control was important."

Once this book hit my kindle, I couldn’t wait to be back in Ainsley and Maverick’s world. “You Owe Me” is a flirty, swoony and banter filled sequel to “IOU” and I loved this story so much.

Maverick Lexington has silently built an empire based on favors and is the powerful man on campus. The only one who has truly broken through that barrier is Ainsley. Ainsley is his girlfriend and is studying marine biology. But when she’s approached by a confident student named Carter Mills, her whole world turns sideways. Carter wants Maverick’s IOUs and the power that comes with it. Ainsley is torn on handling it herself or telling Maverick about it but she is constantly worried about his heart condition. However, Carter has severely underestimated Ainsley and how she’ll do whatever she needs to do to protect Maverick.

Once I started, I couldn’t stop reading. I loved Ainsley and Maverick in “IOU” so getting to go back into their world was such a treat. Maverick is intelligent, precise and underneath that is a guy who cares for his family deeply. I loved how he was putty in Ainsley’s hands and would do anything for her. Ainsley is someone who I loved from the first book and I loved her even more in this book. She also cares so much for everyone in her life and would do whatever she needed to do to protect Maverick because he would do the same for her without hesitation. The two still had their classic banter and the chemistry was even stronger in this book. They go through much in this story and it shows just how perfect they are for each other. I loved the added drama from Nick and how he thought he could have one over Maverick. The ending was perfect and had me cheering loudly for these two. And the bonus scene made my heart so happy.

I devoured this book and didn't want it to end!! It's a Must Read of Feels!! Top 2025 read!!

OMG, Kristy Marie once again brings Maverick & Ainsley's chaos back to life and I loved every single moment of it. These characters have lived rent-free in my mind for years, and still get me out of reading slumps. I love that these two are complete opposites but they align perfectly as a missing piece for one another. If you're like me and long for more of the IOU days again then this is a definite must have here!!

Yes, you will have those fun hilarious banter-filled moments with tons of laughs to be had. You will watch these two weather situations that may make or break them possibly. You get to finally see that they don't always need to hide and try to fix everything alone and with communication things aren't as bad. These two are hilarious like 98 percent of the time but the other 2 percent is when you get hit with all the feels this author is notorious for bringing to life. I loved going back into the Havemeyer University days with them again and seeing them tie the knot as well as being parents of not only three but a teenage girl and having calculated Maverick as a father is probably the best version of him for me lol. If you read IOU then this should be an automatic one-click here. It's a book you want to devour but try to savor because you truly don't want to see the end too fast. I highly recommend this one if you need a good laugh and a love story that brings all the feels as well. This one will be another reread for me.

Expect a broody/possessive but lovable MMC who has a bit of an evil genius level mentality, a fierce/protective/loyal hilarious spitfire FMC, blackmail, secrets, some spicy moments, found family vibes, witty banter, heartfelt moments, and a HEA that is uniquely perfect for them. So if you are ready for the craziness that Maverick & Ainsley bring just one click and enjoy the ride. I know I loved their chemistry from book one to this one and can't wait for what's to come next now!!

Overall: 5/☆☆☆☆☆

Kristy’s first book I read was IOU. The very first page had me hooked with her writing style. When “You Owe Me” was announced, I didn’t think much about it, other than I would be reading it.

I never realized how much more I needed Maverick and Ainsley. They’re still the same people, but it’s still so different. I avoid reading blurbs, so I went into this blind.

Every relationship has issues and bumps in the road, right? This goes above and beyond. Yes, they’re lying straight to each other’s faces, but you can feel the meaning and motivations behind it. You can feel him his need of not having her worry, and you can feel her protecting him.

This is a power couple. King and Queen.
YOM is a masterpiece.

Side note: Chapter 23 is not a smutty chapter, but it’s top tier! That whole chapter is fire! Chef’s kiss!

To understand You Owe Me you must re IOU first. I was so excited to read this book to revisit Maverick and Ainsley. This pair are so imperfectly perfect for each other and this book proves just how far they will go to protect their families. Absolutely loved this book and can’t wait to see how Rowan will make everyone his bitch.

You Owe Me is Kristy Marie's follow up to IOU. I enjoyed IOU back in 2021 (yes, I had to look up when I read it), so I was looking forward to seeing Maverick and Ainsley again.

For the most part, I enjoyed the book. Maverick and Ainsley are snarky and sassy, and I enjoy their banter. However, I was not a fan of the secret keeping that lasted way too long on both their parts, and the inner monologues were starting to become too repetitious.

I think overall that fans of Maverick and Ainsley will enjoy this read.

You Owe Me is the rivoting sequal to IOU by Kristy Marie. I loved everything about this book! The characters, Maverick and Ainsley have a unique chemistry of laughter, sentiment and feeling. The plot left me spinning and the ending was perfect! YOM was more than I had hoped for and I quickly finished as I could not put this book down! I can’t wait to read more from Kristy.

First of all this first book IOU was my first book I read from Kristy and I was hooked from then on. I actually read it twice it’s that good and I will be reading it again to get ready for the sequel of you owe me. I cannot wait. Excited that it is coming out in July of 2025. Maverick is mover and shaker on the campus that she first meets him with his favors that he uses to his advantages so this new book should be interesting when a new character tries to take over with his smooth moves and influence.

Maverick and Ainsley should have it all now that they gotten their HEA, but Maverick is still pushing himself too hard and it's catching up to him. The empire he's built trading in secrets, lies and favors is facing new opposition and that opposition is coming at exactly the wrong time. With his heart condition getting worse he doesn't want to let on to Ainsley the truth and worry her. He's used to going alone and this tiger hasn't been able to change his stripes. Ainsley knows Maverick is hiding his worsening condition but it powerless to figure out how to help so when she is approached by a new foe intent on taking him down, she knows she can't lay anymore stress on him. Ainsley will do anything to protect his heart and his empire but how far will she have to go, and will he ever forgive her for it?

I LOVE this universe, and I am always happy to spend more time with some of my favorite characters. Whenever a standalone couple gets a second book my immediate thought is that the author is going to break them up. Thankfully Kristy always understands the assignment and didn't hurt our hearts like that. Now I'll be honest this book was an angst fest. Don't let the witty banter, steamy scenes and quippy one liners between this feisty couple fool you. This one gave me that tight chested anxiety of wondering how they were going to get out of this mess. That being said this book is the perfect complement to the first one and really resolved a lot of the lingering issues between these two and all that angsty build up lead to an extremely satisfying finale.

If you enjoyed IOU or if you are lover of Kristy's signature banter and angsty romance with a satisfying HEA then you need to make this your next read!

A Sequel that I didn’t know I needed (but loved so much!)

I read IOU a few years ago when I got back into reading and I loved it so much. So when I saw the sequel was coming out, I got very excited. Rightfully so, because this book was so good. It takes place after IOU, but before the epilogue, which I really liked because we got to see more of Maverick and Ainsley’s relationship (including their hilarious banter). There was also a lot of heart in this book and you can really tell how much they love each other.
The only thing I didn’t really love was all the secrets between the two of them. I understand why they each did it, but I think it would have stopped a few of their arguments. Especially because we know that they trust each other, if she would have told him everything about Carter from the start, she wouldn’t have had to deal with his dumb stuff. Granted, I understand it’s because of Maverick’s heart and it is probably good the she didn’t tell him, it just annoyed me a bit. Just like he should have told her about what he was going through because she would have been there for him no matter what.
Other than that small issue, this was a cute, heartfelt sequel that I highly recommend for anyone who likes banter, and two characters who love each other more than anything.

Sometimes less is more .

Ugh ok , let me preface this review by saying that I am a huge fan of Kristy Marie’s writing . Truly , and I had been so excited to get this book and read more of Maverick and Ainsley . However after reading it I feel like less would of been more .

We continue their romance in a way that made me dislike them as a couple . This book turned their relationship into something full of lies hidden under the disguise of being for the others good. Yet in the end all lies come to light and of course maverick always has a card up his sleeve . So what was the point of it all.

The plot was dragged on and flat for me . I ended up rolling my eyes so many times that by 50% I was bored and over the book . I stuck it out , just to realize it ends exactly as I figured it would . Maverick remains untouchable and Ainsley was over the top for no reason.

The epilogue does a random huge time skip where we go from the present to a unexplained point in their future lives and get none of the concluding moments for the couple leading up. As far as this series goes I wish their romance would of concluded in one book , but I understand how it sets things up for the spin off series she has coming .

Maverick & Ainsley are BACK!!

You Owe Me is a captivating, fun and slightly anxiety inducing sequel to one of my vary favorite Kristy Marie books, IOU. Since this is a sequel it is basically implied that you need to read IOU before starting this book- though I suppose you could go in blindly like a crazy person and not only miss out on the amazingness of these two initially getting together but all those little details that are kind of referenced but not fully explained.

This book was fabulous! I literally read it straight through while ignoring my family at the beach 🤣 It had so much of what I loved about IOU embedded in it with Ainsley's general air of chaos and hilarious rants, Maverick's broody and untouchable presence and of course the fire that combusts when these two can't hold back anymore 🥵 But right along with that there is this softer and more vulnerable side to this story as these two are both engaged in very different but still life altering battles and instead of leaning on each other for support, they choose to face them alone in the name of protecting each other.

I both loved and hated that decision for both of them because they came so far together and I hated to see the toll that those secrets were taking on them as individuals and their relationship. I didn't want to think some entitled pretty boy like Carter had the power to shake these two so I got a little nervous at times. But I should have known that Kristy was going to throw some twists in there because Ainsley is a force of nature even before she feels like her person has been threatened and of course a man like Maverick has backup plans for his backup plans!

I loved getting to get some more snippets of Sebastian and squealed to know that Rowan has something in the works now! Can't wait for more!!

This was so disappointing and honestly unnecessary. Book 1 ended without a cliffhanger or anything left unresolved, and we even got an epilogue of their future, so I don’t see why this was needed.

I honestly loved book 1. Their banter and chemistry was incredible, and the storyline was fun and interesting. This one however was boring and made me dislike the characters I loved in book one. All they did was lie to each other to “protect” each other 🙄
The big bad villain was a vain, preppy nepo baby? Seriously? And I really disliked Maverick in this one! I didn’t realize how little of a personality this guy actually has 🤦🏻‍♀️

We didn’t get to see much of Pop’s, Boss, or any of the side characters that I loved. They had little appearances here and there, but not enough to enjoy it. Maverick’s system made no sense, and there were too many holes in it. Should have left vague like in book 1 without trying to show more of it, because it ruined the intrigue.

The only part I enjoyed was the epilogue honestly.

Reading this felt like returning home after a long trip. I love Maverick and Ainsley so much!

You Owe Me is the perfect book for opposites attract! Ainsley and Maverick are so different but match each other so well. This book brought laughs and tears, that I was fully immersed in the story and did not leave. I love the quirkiness of the characters and just how well Kristy Marie writes these two. The banter between these two is one of my favorite things to read. This is 100% a top read of my 2025 reading year!

Since the very first second I read IOU, Maverick and Ainsley have been my favorite! Coming back to more of their story absolutely swelled my heart. If you are looking to read You Owe Me, make sure to read IOU first to get their background. I definitely recommend this book and IOU for others to read!

When I saw that Kristy was giving us more Maverick and Ainsley, I literally screamed. This couple is one of my absolute favorites. And Maverick is a league all on his own! I love him!

Maverick and Ainsley find themselves with an obstacle that they don't see coming. And the way they handle it is one I didn't see coming... I love the dynamic between these two and the understanding they give each other. There is not another couple that can match their energy.

This book had me on edge the entire time, not sure how it would go, or the characters would handle the things that were thrown at them. But I should have never doubted these two!

I loved this book, and getting more of Maverick is something I will always LOVE!!!

I’m not normally a fan of sequels to books that in my heart and head had their HEA, however You Owe Me might just be the exception. Honestly could you ever have enough of Maverick and Ainsley. I will say Mav might be the one with the heart condition but these two were putting my heart under strain with all the secrets between them that seemed to be putting everything on the line. Their story showed you the lengths two people in love will go to, to protect the other. My anxieties ran high and I think I chewed off all my fingernails as I sat on the edge of my seat holding my breath. Ultimately their story was about love and what you would do for it. These two once again owned my heart as they played the winning hand.

Let me start by saying that I have read IOU 22 times so I'm kind of a self proclaimed Ainsley and Maverick expert... So obviously, I was excited when Kristy Marie announced she was writing a sequel to one of my favorite books. I was even more excited when I received an ARC of You Owe Me. But then, I was nervous... what if I hate it? What if this sequel ruins the characters I know and love? Then I read it and LOVED it! I had nothing to worry about, Kristy knew what she was doing. I had so much fun reading about Ainsley and Maverick's adventures after IOU. Reading You Owe Me was like catching up with old friends❤️ I loved that even though they were going through a difficult time both as a couple and separately, their love and loyalty to each other never waivered. One of my favorite parts of IOU is Ainsley's over the top personality and she was exactly the same in You Owe Me, we even got another kiddie pool scene😂 It was also nice getting a behind the scenes look at how Maverick's IOUs work. And then the glimpse many years in the future in the epilogue was the perfect ending❤️ If you loved IOU , I think you will love this too. If you haven't read IOU yet, you should! And then read You Owe Me for even more Ainsley and Maverick. I hope we eventually get a You Owe Me audiobook so I can listen to it on repeat like I do with IOU❤️

Sassy, sweet and full of feels, You Owe Me is the book I didn't know I NEEDED.

Revisiting the story of two of my favorite characters, we now fully get to see how Ainsley integrated into Mav's world, and why she's the ultimate sea lion queen to rule his empire by his side.
With great banter, steam and so much heart (IYKIY), this story had me laughing, crying and rooting for our favorite couple.
This story had me hooked, even though I already knew Ains and Mav got their HEA, but the way to it was a little more twisted and a lot more exciting than previously expected.

***4,5 "I.O.U." stars***

"You're part of this now. Part of me.... Say it."
"I'm part of you."
"Good girl."

It was so good to be back into this world and to have another one book dedicated to my beloved Ainsley and Maverick!!!
I have loved them fiercely in "I.O.U." and I liked that we got another one story with them as the main characters...
We went back there and we saw the campus's devil being tamed by his other half, a girl different from the others, a sea lion lover who adore their old tattered couch!!! Don't ask!!! If you have read the book, you already know what I am talking about...
These two in here, they will face a new threat alongside other things that are happening around them...

"Sometime protection and betrayal look the same."

It's not easy to be Maverick Lexington's girlfriend, but for Ainsley is effortless...
These two together are speaking their own love language and they were adorable...
But Maverick is trying to balance everything under the new circumstances and while trying it, he is starting to keep things from his girl...
And then, Carter Mills is going after Ainsley because he wants to stole the empire that Maverick had built in the campus...
But Ainsley is determined to fight this battle alone and to protect her man, while Maverick is trying to do the same...
Some clouds are starting to shadow their future together and they have to fight hard if they want to get their HEA!!!

"Carter Mills has no idea what he's unleashed."

I have loved every single book by Krity Marie and I have read almost everything from her backlist, but Maverick and Ainsley are holding a very special place in my heart!!!
I know that I have loved many more heroes as Vance and Remington, but Maverick!!! OMG!!! This man is still my number one... His complicated mind is a turn on and the intensity he radiates is giving me goosebumps...
As for Ainsley... This girl is the most intelligent, adorable and crazy girl in the world and I have fallen for her since the very first moment!!!
I just loved being into their orbit for once again, even though this time things were more serious than in "I.O.U."!!! The only sure thing is that these two belong together!!!

"That's what he does; He protects what's his. Even if it breaks him."

(I received an ARC for this book)

Trigger Warnings include:
main character with a heart condition and plenty of discussions about the complications including on page incidents, ailing loved one, blackmail, stalking (and not in the cute dark romance sense)

I was thrilled about this reunion! IOU is one of my favorite books. Maverick and Ainsley are one of my favorite couples. Maverick is one of my favorite MMC. I’ve been excited about needing and wanting more of them from the moment I finished IOU in 2021! And I am happy to report that I was giddy from page one! Her adorable love for sea lions, his adorable tough man act like he isn’t affected by her quirks. Plus his system of games and control. I’m glad he has changed! The ‘villain’ in this one doesn’t need an IOU…he needs to be 6 feet under. I decided that the moment we met. And then I really wanted him buried when he tried to come between them! But have no worries, Maverick would never let anyone hurt his girl. They’re willing to implode themselves to protect each other. Same fire, same intensity, same protectiveness, same urge to knock their heads together! But I wouldn’t change them one bit! Since falling in love with IOU, I have been falling in love with Kristy’s writing. And I LOVED getting to enjoy her growth and expansion into darker characters with grit reading this!

My Favorite Quotes:
• “Put me down!” “Oh, I’m going to put you down all right. Right under my c!ck.” “You promise?”
• “Go ahead, ruin me.”
• “I’m the best decision you’ve ever made.”
• “I don’t want okay. I want you.”
• “I love you. Even when you’re a mess. Even when you don’t know how to fix it.”
• “You taste like trouble.”
• “You know what that mark means? It means I own you forever. And that mark on me? Means you own me.”
• “You gonna ride me like a good girl?"
• “Come home to me."

This was a heart gripping, hair pulling, laugh out loud Rom Com with the perfect amount of angst to keep your pulse pounding hard while you lose sleep and abandon all responsibilities.

Kristy Marie, I owe you for placing my heart in a blender and gradually increasing the speed until it was pulverized. A glob of mush that never felt so good.

Maverick and Ainsley stole my heart in IOU, You Owe Me picked up where it left off and I didn’t want it to end. Most of the time lately, I’m rushing through books to complete but this I wanted to savor every last heated and suspenseful moment. I want more!!

When I thought I knew how to predict the story, Kristy proved me wrong. Which doesn’t happen often. And that’s EXACTLY what I crave in a novel.
Unpredictability.
I want shock. I want surprise. I want an OMG what just happened?!?
I’m sure I had a crazed look on my face, eyes wide, joker smile, when my heart came out of that emotional blender.

I can’t get enough of these two and I’m ready to read it all over again.

10 stars out of 5. Loved it!! Highly recommend this sequel to IOU. If you haven’t read IOU, it’s my favorite, now this continuation is right up there with it.

Get ready to jump back into the world of Maverick and Ainsley. The banter, sarcasm, love for sea lions, and protective / possessiveness is back. And not just from Maverick. Ains won’t go down without a fight for her man. Let’s just hope his heart can handle it.

The side characters in this book made me so happy! I love Bostic and was THRILLED to see that man again. Plus the firefighters who protected Ainsley the first time around, then Rowan, Sebastian, and Pops. It was like coming back to the family I never wanted to leave. Eliza was a little iffy for me but the girl grew on me. Her master plan at the gala! IYKYK.

** Must read book one to understand what’s really going on, you’ll be lost without it.

Excited to see what happens next.

I enjoyed the book, but I was really hoping to get their future. I wish it started more from where the epilogue left off as I felt there was so much to go on, especially what we’ve seen in other books. Still, loved revisiting these two.
