As far back as I can remember, I have been enamored by all things fantasy. And the moment I found an outlet for my imagination in writing, it changed my life. When I'm not writing, I enjoy spending as much time as I can with my wife and son at our home in Iowa. Thanks for reading!
I think I liked this book better than the first one. I did do a re-read of book 1 before starting this to make sure I didn't get confused on anyone's names or the terms used in the book. I feel that the pattern with this series is a very slow start and buildup, followed by captivating action near the end. I did get pretty emotional near the end of the book, but it took a little while to get there since it dragged a little at the start. I love Endra's character, and I love that she was able to form a bond with Sendana after having such a rivalry with her in book 1. I really don't feel any chemistry between her and Tristan, so I'm glad the author took this book in the direction he did. I also have to say I've never read a successful romantasy written by a male author but I actually enjoy this one! There aren't any explicit scenes and the romance definitely isn't a main part of the story, but it's incorporated well and I think he writes both his male and female characters wonderfully with a lot of character development and depth. Hoping that this trilogy follows the pattern we've seen thus far and improves even more with the next book.
Power and the Dark Divide plunges readers back into the mesmerizing world of Icclessia, delivering a spellbinding narrative filled with intrigue, betrayal, and hope. As the protagonist, Endra, prepares for an impending war, her journey quickly morphs into something far more personal and profound. The harrowing truths she uncovers not only challenge her beliefs but also reshape the fabric of her world.
Fans of epic fantasy will revel in the twists and turns of this gripping tale. Power and the Dark Divide is a testament to Forest’s ability to craft a story that is as emotionally poignant as it is thrilling. A must-read for those eager to return to Icclessia or for anyone seeking a tale of courage and discovery in the face of great odds.
There’s a lot of different POVs in this book that kept the chapters very interesting to read. The characters are all well thought out. Can’t wait for the finale booo to be published.
I really liked the first two books and can't wait for the 3rd. I feel the author could have done a little more building...but overall, I love the story and the characters.
I love this series! It started off a little slow, but it was my fault for not rereading the first book. The ending though. 😳 Please tell me the next book is coming out soon!
