In this short, spicy sports romance, Jiu Jitsu blue belt Michelle Kim finds herself tangled up in a new way when she gets assigned to train with her roommate's hot older brothers.

Zach

I’ve accepted I’m not like my brother. Too wild, too competitive, too much. I stick to my dog training business and Ryan deals with the people in our lives.

Now he’s dragging me to the jiu jitsu gym and we’re both training with our sister’s roommate. There’s something about Michelle Kim that I can’t back down from, and I can’t stay away from. She’s not like any other woman I’ve met.

Michelle

I’ve never felt comfortable in my own skin. Too tall, too feisty, too much. The one place I can forget all that is the jiu jitsu gym. It’s where I put distractions aside and focus on my sport.

Now I’ve been assigned to train with my roommate’s hot older brothers. Ryan is sweet and encouraging, but rolling with Zach is different. He pushes my buttons and doesn’t back down.

I don’t know how I got tangled up in this mess. Before it felt like there was too much of me. Now it feels like there’s not enough to go around.

Too Much is a stand alone, spicy, love triangle sports romance of 49K words with a one man HEA, and the second book in the Fighter's Passion Series.

Too Much was just right!!!

In Too Much, Michelle Kim is a strong, intelligent, ambitious, and fiercely independent young woman who knows what she wants and what she needs. Her conundrum, however, is that who she is goes against everything she was raised to believe she should be—and she’s not having it.

Having survived a traumatic experience, she took charge of her life and enrolled in self-defense classes to avoid ever feeling helpless again. After three years as a blue belt in Jiu Jitsu, she wants more, but to accomplish her goal of advancing to the next level, she must confront her demons.
Rolling with men on the mat without losing her composure.

When Michelle agrees to her coaches’ requirement for advancement, the last thing she expected was the mixed feelings and sexual tension aroused during her training with the Thompson brothers, Ryan and Zach.

Not only because they are handsome with bodies of gods and experienced mixed martial artists in their own right but also because they are the brothers of her roommate and best friend, Kaylee.
The story is told from dual perspectives, Michelle's and Zach’s, yet as the narrative toggles between each of them from chapter to chapter, it doesn’t miss a beat. Their thoughts, feelings, desires, insecurities, hopes, and connections are genuine and relatable.

Zach’s character resonated with me because he reminded me of who I was in my younger years: fascinated with martial arts—Kung fu—and driven by desire. Yet, like any other man, I was filled with self-doubt. So, from a male reader’s perspective, I found Zach’s inner dialogue to be dead-on-balls accurate!

Too Much is a quick, spicy read with a well-balanced narrative that flows smoothly from start to finish. It’s perfect for a weekend read or to lose yourself in before bed to stage your dreams with fantasies of your own kink. For me, Too Much was just right, and I recommend it to steamy romance readers!

2.5/5 ⭐️ This wasn't bad. It just confused me so much, and I couldn't get over how the FMC made no sense to me.

The plot is centered around the FMC training in jiu jitsu after being sexually assaulted in college. She only trains with other women and generally feels uncomfortable with men. The grappling helps her feel in control, great! She finds out that she can't advance from blue belt to purple belt unless she's able to train with everyone, so she starts doing private sessions with these two brothers to feel more comfortable with physical contact with men. Almost immediately, things get sexual. She ends up getting turned on by one of them being more aggressive / being held down, and she also likes to fight back during sex. Huh? Is that a normal response to what she went through?

Even though the FMC has struggled with her trauma for years, she goes from zero to kink in a matter of a week or two. I know that's partly because this book is only 200 pages, but there wasn't a lot of warm-up until she jumps into a threesome, is being restrained, and saying "no," but liking it. Now, I know there are different responses to trauma, but this just feels so unreal. The shortness of this book also means the romance felt quick to develop, and the "I love you" was surprising to me.

Too Much is the second installment in the Fighter’s Passion series. Too Much follows the journey of Michelle and Zach. Too Much is a book that I would recommend to anyone, but I would recommend that they read the tropes and triggers before reading to decide if this book is truly one you want to read. Too Much is a contemporary MMA romance story, which is the first MMA romance story that I have read. I actually enjoyed reading this book even with the many tropes and triggers, I had to get past those to be able to enjoy the story. Author Ruby Starr does a fantastic job of creating this MMA romance story, she’s an amazing storyteller as well as writer. The characters are absolutely well-developed/written and beautifully executed. Too Much is an ease to read, has wonderful characters, fantastic storylines/plot, suspenseful, steamy, and a happily ever after for the main characters. I’m definitely looking forward to seeing what Author Ruby Starr will come up with for her next book.

This is book 2 in the series and they are standalones but interconnected in the series so I highly recommend reading book 1 first. I really liked that Michelle decided not to cower and hide after having survived SA experience and started taking self defense classes to give herself that confidence and some of the power back. But in order to advance to the next level she has to step outside of her comfort zone and begin to spar with men. The guys she ends up partnered with are her best friend and roommate Kaylee. So while you think she would be more comfortable, the trauma she endured still lingers. Both brother are opposite (Ryan and Zach) and she is surprisingly attracted to them both. This was a shorter read than I normally have and had a good storyline, characters and the heat was not crazy ridiculous. There were some “cringe” moments but I was able to read it cover to cover in 1 sitting. Solid 4 star read

Michelle & Zach: Book 2 of Fighter's Passion: Roommate’s older brothers/ love triangle/ MMA/ Jiu jitsu romance: Interconnected Standalone. If you read out of order, there will be spoilers for other characters’ stories. Ruby Starr created a well written story with amazing characters. I was hooked into this story right away, and I can’t wait to read Ryan’s story next.

This is just…disgusting. DNF at 50%. WHY is she touching herself right next to her best friend. Ew. And WHY is the only smut her touching herself? And WHY did Ryan or whatever his name is tell her that he had a threesome with his gf and HIS BROTHER. WHYYY. There is no tension between any of the characters. They’re all so dull. Why. Just why. This book literally makes no sense.

I won book #3 of this series in a Goodreads giveaway so I figured I better start with #1 and #2 first. The author is a new author and this was just her second book. I enjoyed this sports romance, and enjoy a strong tough female main character. Quick book, like around 200 pages but seemed much longer than a novella.

For the most part I enjoyed this book, but there were a few things I didn't care for. I've read several smutty books, but I prefer when there is more of an actual story to go with it. I felt like this one gave me just enough story to make me want more.
