I couldn’t wait to read the Winds of Ericiel II - War by Mae Camp. After reading book 1, I was keen to find what occurred next.
Again, we meet Catherine and Adrian, and along with the Torthian Council they face ten formidable warriors. Brought together by their growing love and an increased need to protect their independent sovereignty from savage invaders, Catherine and Adrian face their enemies with boundless courage and resilience.
War abounds but Adrian knows he has the greatest warriors in the Torthian legions and the Lyrian bowmen. However, as with any conflict of this size casualties are to be expected and not everyone returns to the battlefield.
Again, the author’s poetic prose carries the reader away. She is able to recreate this fantasy world not only with clarity and reality, but with a haunting love only a poet knows.
There are scenes which some readers may feel are too explicit. However, it is important to keep in mind that this is a historical, fantasy recreation and the author was committed to bringing it to life. I think it adds to the novel as a whole.
If you loved book 1, this tale will not disappoint. It really is a saga: grand, compelling and a sure-fired page turner. Enjoy.

Outstanding Why-Choose Fantasy Adventure
If you're looking for that one ultimate escapist romantasy to get totally lost in, this is the one. The Winds of Ericiel, and War in particular, draws you in, refusing to let you go until it has wrung every single emotion from the darkest reaches of your soul.
In this continuation of Mae Camp's epic saga, the looming war between the forces of good and evil builds up the tension and action while showcasing the growing emotional connections between Queen Catherine and the Brotherhood.
The author masterfully develops believable and loving relationships between her FMC and the multiple partners. In each one, Catherine finds a different kind of love, companionship, and passion while learning to explore the various aspects of her own evolving sexuality.
There appear to be no true alphas in this arrangement. Although Adrian is the Emperor in name and title, he lacks the strength or conviction to make effective decisions without his familiar entourage to guide him. The only appearance of jealousy or possessive tendencies for Catherine are directed toward those outside of the band of brothers.
The perception is that Adrian is in reality a lost soul. A control freak with no real control at all. It is the most amusing and interesting aspect of his character. Catherine holds all of the actual power over this harem of clueless warriors.
I found the poetry in the hymn of lament and hope to be absolutely beautiful and inspiring.

Leading off from the first book, Winds of Ericiel II: War builds upon the first entry into the historical fantasy epic and introduces new characters, customs, conflicts, and lore. Reading the series in order is certainly advised, as there are a lot of narratives taking place alongside each other as the author weaves a complex and intriguing web.
Catherine and Adrian are together, amongst a group of warriors, as they face their enemies in war. As the title promises, the physical conflict in this entry is ramped up and there is a lot of death and destruction, with seemingly safe characters drawn into battles which they may not come out of. The author is prepared to take risks, to build up characters and write them out, their true heroics forever memorialized on the battlefield.
There is a calmer side to this book too, as alliances and rivalries are sought out, and characters and ideals from the first book are developed and fleshed out in more detail. There is promise of future books in the series and I look forward to reading them.

This series is blowing my mind to smithereens!!! HOLY MOTHER what a rollercoaster ride Book 2 was. I thought I wouldn't love anything more than I did Book 1, but I was oh-so-deliciously wrong! The smut in this book had me fanning my face, and I read erotica for a living!
And the war was a completely different beast in itself. I have not read a single book before that captured the true essence of war and showed it in a way that felt REAL. I felt the whole gamut of emotions while reading this one. The number of tissue boxes I went through almost rendered me broke.
And I ADORED meeting my boys and sweet Cathy again. I can read a 20-book series with them and still want more.
The one word I repeatedly use to describe Mae’s work is MAGIC. You need to pick this series up if you're a true romance novel enthusiast!

I have just finished reading the book called "Winds of Ericiel II - War" that was a story written by Mae Camp. This story is a good continuation of her epic fantasy saga that began with “Winds of Ericiel I- Prophecy”. This book goes even deeper into this world that is full of intrigue, conflict and characters that will be hard to forget. This next book will keep readers interested in the story as it picks up with her characters experiencing challenges that test their loyalties and strength. The stakes are high, and the tension can be felt by the reader, who will find themselves caught up in the story. The story moves at a very good pace and anyone who decides to read this series is truly going to enjoy it and will be anxiously looking forward to the next coming story in the series. I believe they will definitely be waiting to find out what is going to happen in the next installment.

I couldn’t wait to dive into Book Two after Prophecy, and WAR absolutely delivered. The stakes are so much higher this time, and the emotional intensity hit me harder than I expected. Catherine and Adrian’s relationship continues to evolve, and I loved seeing the way their bond influences not just their own decisions, but the fate of entire kingdoms. The Council of Ten? Still incredible. There are definitely intense scenes (and I appreciated the content warning), but nothing felt gratuitous. This was a great weekend read for me. I have enjoyed this series so far.
