MY REVIEW
I literally knew from the first sentence that this book was going to mess with my heart and that I was going to love every minute of it, and of course, I was right!
I immediately fell in love Jarred Roman, what red blooded woman wouldn't? He is the very definition of a sexy Alpha- Male who has the balls to wear his heart on his sleeve. However he is broken, and he is a man with a past; a past that has defined him and held him captive to perpetual feelings of guilt and worthlessness.
His heart carries the burden of a painful childhood, riddled with abuse and addiction. To avoid facing those painful memories Jarred closes his heart off to the possibility of love and is content with meaningless encounters with any warm & willing body… until he encounters Zhoe.
Zhoe is a beautiful, shy girl with a broken heart, when Jarred keeps serendipitously turning up around town she finds herself drawn to him and sheds her timidity to try and gain his attention. The two are aware of the electricity between them and before long their romance takes off and we the readers get to be the fly on the wall watching their love blossom. Jarred cannot stop himself from wanting her but feels that he is not good enough for his "pretty girl". He is convinced that because of his past, and the pain he believes he has caused, he is undeserving of the happiness their love promises and begins to shut down his heart, leaving Zhoe crushed.
I found myself cheering when Zhoe decides to stand up and fight for him and for their love. What comes next the unravelling of a beautiful, heart wrenching and inspiring love story that reminds us that love crosses all boundaries. A well written, hot, angsty read. I absolutely loved it!!!!!

I really enjoyed this book.
Emotionally, it was quite heavy. I felt the turmoil Jared felt about his feelings towards Zhoe and whether he should tell her his secret. You know when you read a book and you really like the characters and you can see their relationship grow from a tiny seed to an almighty oak, but you know it's all going to come crashing down if one little thing is revealed....well that's this book.
I didn't want Jared to tell Zhoe, but that wouldn't be a story would it lol
I must commend the author on how well they changed POV, it was very smooth.
My only criticism of the book would be it was slightly corny and over-loaded with the smoochy stuff but to be honest, I don't know why I'm calling it corny because I call my wife babygirl all the time, so "pretty girl" probably isn't that bad!

GREAT debut novel, loved the characters, Great start to a series I look forward to reading. This is Zhoe and Jared's story, you will fall for Jared and feel his pain as he has a secret and it effects Zhoe. I could not put this book down, its very easy to follow and has everything you look for in a book. Can't wait for the next book.....maybe it will be Jared's best friend Rico and Zhoe's best friend Ang......who I LOVE.

This is the first book in the " Triumph " series from author S.J. McGran . Warning this book is Highly addicting because once you start reading it you wont be able to out it down .
Be for I sat down to start to rad this book I knew it was going to be good. But this book was even better than what I thought it was going to be . As soon as I started reading this book I was hooked and I could not put this book down for the live of me. This book was full of a lot of emotional roller coaster of emotions that kept me on the every edge of my seat all the way through this book. This book pulled really hard on my heart strings at times and had me all most needing a tissue. Their where some twist and turns that never seen coming in this book that had me gasping. I fell in love with this story in this book and it felt like I was right their with the characters as I read this book . I fell in love with all the characters in this story.
Five year ago Zhoe Dawson lost her brother and after that day life would never be the same . Because he also was their for her and had her back. Know day she does what her father want and not what she wants because does not have it in her to tell him what she wants . She just want to escape for one night and she get it when she decide to go out with her best friend . While she out with her best friends and while they are a club enjoying a few drinks and some story she see one sexy as hell piece of eye candy . They decide to go say hi the guy she cant keep her eyes off . They introduce their self to each other and sparks start to fly. After the night in the bar they cant stay away form each other . But when he realize who she is he knows he will never be good enough for her . Can she help him heel from his past or will it be to much for him .
Jared Roman has never felt what love is . Because not even his parent cared about him . When he was old enough to be on this own he left . But one night changes his life for ever and now he trying to be a good person. But he keeps trying to run form the past . But one night while he was out with a friend he finds some one who can bring him to his knees. When he finds out who her brother is he realizes that he will never be good enough for her . But you cant stop what the heart wants. Can Zhoe help him find him heal from his past.
Can they help each other heel from their losses in their past so they cant have a future together.
Their is so very, very much more to this story I did not share in my review . I love this book and cant wait to read more from this author and this series in the future .

It's clear right from the off that despite having never met, Zhoe and Jared are tethered to one another.
Zhoe is getting over something traumatic. Despite coming from money, her sorrow continues to pull her down and has ripped her family apart....as the saying goes, money can't buy happiness!
Jared has always thought of himself as worthless and damaged. Starting with a lonely childhood, with all the wrong examples set for a young child, he found himself travelling the wrong path in his life. But one event changed that and despite the all-consuming guilt he carries around with him daily, he's managed to somehow get his life, somewhat, on track.
When Zhoe makes eye contact with the "Scary-Sexy", dark and brooding Jared across a crowded bar, she decides to throw caution to the wind and indulge in a one night stand.
Jared is like no other man she's ever been with. He's hot, tattooed and definitely not the Ivy League type her controlling father would have her date. What he is, is controlling in the bedroom and he sets Zhoe's knickers on fire!
What follows is two people falling uncontrollably fast in love with one another but Jared doesn't think he's worthy of Zhoe.
All Zhoe wants is happiness, she doesn't care if they come from different worlds.
But when they finally get to know each other and Jared's secret is revealed, will they both be left with their hearts shattered? Or will love conquer all?
As an aside, Ang and Rico definitely have something brewing and they are each hiding something from each other, as well as their best friends. I'm assuming that the next book may well be their story and if so, I look forward to reading it!

I feel blessed to have found another fabulously written debut novel. This was just freakin great! I loved the characters so much but the writing was better. There were a few great treats like Zhoe and Jared the main characters. Zhoe is a grounded, smart and loving girl who goes to school and volunteers. What more could you want from a well off girl? OH the fact that she is well off but doesnt act like it. She drinks dark beer and eats famous "Lonestar burgers" I found her easy and relate able.
As for her best friend Angelica, she is the same way. They are great best friends and have a really good friendship. Right about the 30% mark I loved how the author paired these girls. They are not opposites, but share a lot of the fundamentals that balance a great friendship. There is A LOT of steam here. Very good and very well placed steam. I liked it and it was just the right amount, the right degree, and at the right times.
As for the men, well I loved Jared. His name alone makes we swoon. Jared is a construction worker and has a secret. The secret is BAD, YUP its BAD. The suspense waiting is about to reach maximum when the author dropped the bomb. Yes it was great.
Rico is Richard, so I loved the nic name there too. He is Jared's best friend and they share a common bond, cant say what binds them but it is a great plot device.

I really enjoyed this debut novel from this author. It was well written and easily flowed especially when changes POV'S.
This story is about love, romance and loss.
In the beginning, we learn about the two main characters Zhoe and Jared and how opposite their worlds are and that they have one person that connects them. At first they have no idea that they have a personal connection but they definitely have instant chemistry the first night they meet.
I don't want to spoil to much but one of them finds the link that connects them will the be upfront and honest and how will they react to the news.
I enjoyed Zhoe's character. She is a strong person and I'm so proud and happy for her when she finally stands up to her dad, although it's not the right timing it was a great thing for her to finally have a say in her future. I'm glad she also has a great friend Angelica to lean on for support.
Jared.. Is a Alpha Hottie... He has had a tough upbringing and carries a lot on his shoulders. He is a strong and determined guy even thought he sees himself as damaged. I'm glad he has great friends and Zhoe to really make him feel loved and wanted.

This is a debut read from the immensely talented SJ McGran that totally blew me away. The plot is intricate, perfectly timed and well layed out. Vanquish is a story that will draw you in and not let you go until the very last page is turned.
Jared and Zhoe are direct opposites (or so it seems). Jared has lived an unimaginable horrific life full of pain and abuse. All that he is looking for is someone to love him. But Jared is hiding a major secret that will directly impact Zhoe’s life.
Zhoe has been sheltered and had a privileged upbringing. Her life isn’t all that it seems. We learn at the beginning of the book that her brother, Cole, has died. Zhoe is forced to live under the dictatorial rule of her father. All that she is looking for is freedom and love. This book is so good because Zhoe and Jared’s pain feels like a living and breathing entity. You find yourself alternating between anger and tears. Did I mention that this is a very emotional read? This book has some delicious plot turns that will make you cringe and break your heart. The drama and angst factor is very high in this read.
I love the friendships between Jared and his bestie Rocco and between Zhoe and her friend, the oh so lovable, Ang. Their interactions are one of my favorite things about this book. The author does a fabulous job with the development of her characters. You can see the changes in them throughout the book.
I give major points to SJ for writing such an intriguing and addictive read. I am already planning on re-reading Vanquish.

Oh. My. Heart!! I'm so totally in love with this book! S.J. McGran wrote is book with so much emotion and love, I'm still reeling!! The characters are so relatable, and the issues throughout this book are so real, it's hard not to get sucked into this story!!

Zhoe has struggled through life. From never there parents to the loss of a loved one, Zhoe just wanted to find a place in life where she felt comfortable. Jared has a past...a damaged past. And he is certain he is not deserving of any happiness or love. When Zhoe and Jared meet, there is an automatic attraction, but there is also a secret that can ruin everything! Can these two damaged people come together to find the love and happiness they deserve?

I am hopelessly in love with Zhoe and Jared. S. J. McGran is an amazing writer! I love how she brought us this beautiful love story! Definitely one of my top favs!!!!

I received an arc for an honest review. This was a good book! It's up & down with your emotions, toying with your heart & mind!
It starts out pretty emotional! Cole, Zhoe's brother died 5 years prior! It's affected her & her family! She came from a rich family who now just tries to control her! Zhoe's goals, however, are nothing like her dads!
Jared has a connection to Zhoe through Cole but only him & his friend, Rico know about it! He blames himself! He had a horrible childhood also! Total opposite of Zhoe! When Zhoe & Jared 1st see each other, it's instant connection!
They really compliment each other! Things are going good until Zhoe takes Jared to meet her parents! Her dad makes the connection & all hell breaks loose! It's horrible & devastating! My heart hurt for them 2! Jared runs! Tragedy brings them back together but can it last? Will they be able to vanquish the past & live for the future?
I found it kind of slow in some parts. A lot of the sex scenes seemed to drag on. Maybe because there was A LOT of sex! All in all a good read! I can't wait to read Ang's story! I need to know her secret!

This was a great story about love, loss, and guilt. The characters were wonderful and I really enjoyed not only the main characters, but also their friends. I was instantly drawn into the story from the first page and couldn’t put it down. I think I read the whole thing in just a few hours.
Zhoe and Jared develop a great relationship. It’s one of those where they help each other to become better versions of themselves. Jared has had a hard upbringing and deals with a lot of guilt. He’s also that sexy and protective alpha male that we all love. Zhoe has very controlling parents and I was so happy when she finally stood up for herself. These two have to deal with a lot in their lives and they manage to find some love in the middle of all of that. I loved their friends as well. They really fill out the story nicely and make everything feel more real.
The story was well laid out and I really enjoyed the dual POVs. The transitions were smooth and I found it a very easy book to read. I’m definitely looking forward to reading the next book in the series. 4 out of 5 stars!

WOW...I really liked this book!!! It was soo good! This book was about Jared and Zhoe's story.
This book had a lot of hot scenes in it, this couple was a lot of fun to read about. They had some fun banter going on all the time and I loved the nick names they had for each other. I loved reading Vanquish. It starts off heavy and you just know it's going to be an emotional read. It starts off with Zhoe visiting her brother Cole's grave. Jared goes to visit Cole too but at the time Zhoe doesn't see him. Zhoe meets Jared latter at a club. Jared slowly puts together who Zhoe is.
Zhoe and Jared are good together. Jared keeps to himself that he knew Cole.
Jared feels guilty and responsible for Cole's death. We don't find out why he feels that way into very far into the book. I was a little frustrated by that, I wanted to knew why right away. We do get to find out his involvement before with Cole before Zhoe does.
Jared also has issues of feeling that he is not worthy of love. Zhoe and Jared have a lot of issues to work through if they want there relationship to work.
Vanquish is a great story. I can't wait to read book 2.
Zhoe and Jared are good together. Jared keeps to himself that he knew Cole.
Jared feels guilty and responsible for Cole's death. We don't find out why he feels that way into very far into the book. I was a little frustrated by that, I wanted to knew why right away. We do get to find out his involvement before with Cole before Zhoe does.
Jared also has issues of feeling that he is not worthy of love. Zhoe and Jared have a lot of issues to work through if they want there relationship to work.
Vanquish is a great story. I can't wait to read book 2.

I can’t go any less than 4 hearts for Vanquish. This had a good mix, well written and pretty much ticked all the boxes for a nice piece of escapism.
S.J. Mcgran writes with a nice easy prose. Her characters are very likable bad bits and all and it’s very easy to visualise the whole story.
Truthfully this is nothing that hasn’t been done before, but when it’s produced in such a pleasant way like this is, it’s very easy to fall into, get lost with and lose yourself to Jared and Zhoe’s story. This book will leave you feeling sated and definitely satisfied that you have just experienced a good read.
I am very glad to have read this book 1 in the Truimph series and I will be on the look out for any the next book in the series.

Vanquish is SJ McGran's debut novel is full of emotions and a big secret. The struggle Jared has is felt throughout the whole book. SJ did a fantastic job to detail the feelings of the characters in such a way you too felt. It is a great read.
Jared & Zhoe has a connection to each other neither has had before. Jared has a troubled past he is a better man but still damaged too damaged for Zhoe but he is selfish and keeps her as long as he can have her. Zhoe has everything she wants except her brother, her own dreams & life. Can Jared's past be the one thing that severes the connection these two have? Can their love survive or will Jared's secret and Zhoe's father's ultimatum destroy them?

I truly enjoyed each of the characters that I discovered in this amazing story. They felt so real that I could feel their pain and joy as my own, and I wanted more than anything for each of them to open their eyes to what was in front of them. It’s amazing how blind we can be to what we really need, and we need to work on broadening our narrow view of what life is all about. When love is staring us in the eye, we need to take hold of that precious miracle and cherish it with every part of ourselves. If we neglect it or turn away from it, we will learn the hard way that life is not worth living if love is not a part of it. Love is the color that brightens the path that we walk on, it is the water that sustains us from one day to another, and it is that flavor that allows us to truly enjoy things and people in our life. Be careful to always treasure, enjoy, and nurture those you love or else your world will turn dim, lifeless, and flavorless before you even realize that it is happening.

Zhoe is very strong, although she doesn’t believe it. She is smart and comes from money, but remains grounded and humble. A traumatic loss has kept her tied to her parents, even if she is practically non-existent for them. After meeting Jared, her internal strength comes out and she’s able to stand up to her father.
Jared, oh Jared…he’s pure Alpha hotness with a soft heart. Always thinking of himself as undeserving and damaged, he knows he wants to be with Zhoe, but fights hard to call his feelings for her what they really are. He’s hiding a secret he’s sure will turn Zhoe away from him, but it might actually be the opposite…
This is an excellent debut novel, with an emotional storyline, great flow to the plot, and very steamy sex scenes. The characters are likeable and relatable, making you feel the emotions right along with them. This is a very good series and I’m ready to read the next book.

Vanquish is just as much Jared’s story as it is Zhoe’s. Jared first sees Zhoe in the cemetery, and he later meets her in a bar. Zhoe and Jared can’t stop eyeing each other from across the bar. Angelica, Zhoe’s best friend has been with her forever and seen her through her losses in life. It’s Angelica that encourages Zhoe to take the lead with Jared.
Jared and Zhoe just keep running into each other and suddenly they’re in a relationship. But Jared has ghosts in his past that will affect his and Zhoe’s future. Zhoe must also come to terms with her parents and that what she wants from life is not what they want from her. Zhoe must make a choice between her family and the life that she wants. Jared needs to man up and be what Zhoe needs. Vanquish is about expelling the past and moving on with the future. I look forward to the next books in the series.

Simply Amazing!
Wow! This book was off the charts! I couldn't stop reading every page was amazing! The sex was rock your world HOT and Jared was every girls dream hottie! Zhoe never felt heat so hot until Jared. Everyone has a past. Zhoe is falling hard and Jared is harboring a secret that could very well cost him everything. This book was beautifully written and very deep (in more ways than one) and best of all?! Author S.J. McGran brings realness to her story. Not everyone comes with everything handed to them some come from a harder style of life that they had no choice but to endure and have to choose when growing up to change their situation. She shows it can be done and you ARE worth everything to the right person. It doesn't matter where you came from, how you grew up, who you know, who your family is or what you had to do to survive. It's what YOU do and the choices YOU make that defines you not anyone else. I wish I had more stars to give because this book was amazing!!

This story has heartbreak all around. Zhoe Dawson misses her murdered brother. Her parents are distant yet controlling. She has a best friend, Angelica, who provides lots of comic relief. Jared Roman has a horrid past. Neglect, abuse, drugs, regrets. He doesn't intend to open his heart for anyone. He is all hot-alpha man. The chemistry is off the charts between Zhoe and Jared. Secrets and pasts build the angst in their story.
Plenty of emotions, sexiness, and enjoyment.
There are some editing issues. I give this story 4.5 stars.

Loved it loved it loved it
There is so many good points to this book primarily the hot sexy Jared. I need to find me one of those.
The book was a bit mushy at points but it's to be expected for a romance I am thrilled that the cliches have been avoided and the author has allowed the characters feelings to develop naturally.
The story is realistic and relatable with likeable characters
The writing style is fantastic giving great description allowing you to feel exactly what the characters feel.
I would highly recommend

The emotions pour off the page in this rollercoaster of a ride book.
S J McGran has written some great characters and has made changing POV's seemless.
For a debut novel, I would have to say this author is one to watch as for me, it was a 5* read and I look forward to reading more from her.

LOVED IT.... I read it during my son's baseball game, stayed up late, got up early, read at stop lights and during my lunch just so I could finish it because it was so good I couldn't put it down! Can't wait to read her next book!!!!!

I absolutely adored Vanqish. Jared is the ultimate book boyfriend. I loved how the story developed into such a phenomenal love story
