This story has really amped up the action. It is the most intense in the series yet. Its is another great read in the Hunt for Jack Reacher Series. A few years ago I have read all of the Jack Reacher stories and all of the Hunt for Jack Reacher stories as well that were available at the time. Since then I have been reading them as they release. The Child brothers are releasing 1 book a year and Capri is releasing two. I am also now reading one of the other approved spin off series, the Reacher Experiment. This will be the 60th Reacher story I have read. It is a good read. A couple of volumes ago felt like more of a stretch. This one really hit the really mark. The next in this series have already been announced. But I am currently behind by one.
First, I read the 29 Jack Reacher Novels and short stories by Lee Child, and now Lee and Andrew Child. And then I read all the books in this series. This is the nineteenth novel in the Hunt for Reacher Series, and the twenty-third story featuring Otto. The story starts with a former NYPD detective with connections to Jack Reacher thwarts an attack at Atlanta's Hartsfield Airport. A few hours later, both the detective and the attacker are dead. Soon someone reaches out to Otto to work together to find Reacher and she is encouraged to do so.
Otto has Gaspar in the wings helping out as much as he can. He does not trust Finlay or Cooper but is helping Otto. The source book for this volume was Lee Child’s Gone Tomorrow. The description of this volume is:
“A former NYPD detective with connections to Jack Reacher thwarts an attack at Atlanta's Hartsfield Airport. A few hours later, both the detective and the attacker are murdered.
FBI Special Agent Kim Otto jumps into the high-stakes investigation, following a trail of breadcrumbs Reacher left in his wake after the Lee Child novel, Gone Tomorrow.
As Otto races to locate the killers, her ongoing mission to find Reacher takes an unexpected turn. The legendary loner briefly emerges from the shadows, joining forces with Otto in his own way to confront a determined enemy planning revenge and mass destruction.
From quiet North Carolina backroads to Washington's corridors of power, Tracking Jack is a pulse-pounding thriller. Bestselling author Diane Capri delivers a rollercoaster of suspense, where loyalties are tested, secrets exposed, and justice hangs in the balance.”
The cast of characters in this story is:
Kim Otto
Carlos Gaspar
Charles Cooper
Reggie Smithers
Lamont Finlay
Ed Docherty
Daisy Hawkins
Melissa Black
Marcus Molina
Theresa Lee
Zoe Seltzer
Eugene Cannon
John Sansom
Jack Reacher
This story has a few great surprises and twists. It is an intense story with an interesting plot, excellent characters. This story is faster paced and with more action than any of the others in the series. There are a few subplots in this volume. Reacher is working his way towards a bigger target and in this volume a lot of pieces fall into to the playing board. And Otto knows they are their but just cannot fit them together. This story is much more antiterrorism and with the layered plots and subplots it really has a feel of a John Grisham novel.
It is another great story in an excellent series. It is longer than many of the offerings. These books always leave you desperate for the next instalment in the series. Capri has again done a wonderful job in leading us on the hunt for Jack Reacher. And with each offering we get to know Otto better. This story was very well done. I can easily recommend this book and series.
Note: there are two numbering systems for this series. Good Reads numbers the novels continuously with the shorter stories earlier in the series being x.5. Diane Just numbers them 1-??. So this book is number 23 for total stories and number 19 for novels.
