Suzie and Mary are enjoying the quiet of the off-season at Dune House, hosting a handful of guests and enjoying time with their boyfriends and their lovable Lab, Pilot.
But their tranquility is short-lived when a marine biology professor is found murdered. And with the docks closed down for the investigation, they end up with a few last-minute guests. The professor’s discoveries could change everything for those involved, and Suzie and Mary soon uncover that he had more than a few enemies, with many wanting him silenced.
As they dig deeper, they head straight toward danger. Will they uncover the truth before there’s another victim?
Join Suzie, Mary, Pilot, and the gang for a heartwarming, fast-paced cozy mystery by USA Today and Wall Street Journal Bestselling Author Cindy Bell that will keep you guessing until the end.
Another adventure with a murder thrown in with Suzie, Mary, Paul, & Wes! Dr. Peter Williamson has been found dead at the docks. He is a marine biologist who has been doing research on the local fish population. Police Chief Jason Allen, Suzie younger cousin is closing the docks so they can do a full investigation. Paul said everyone will have to go to the local hotel, but Suzie asks him to stay at Dune House. Several of the fishermen have had words with Dr. Williamson but Lachlin, one of The fishermen & Peter's friends had gotten into a shouting match with him. His daughter, Isla, feels like everyone suspects him of killing the dead man & she wants him not to talk to anyone.
As Susie & Mary start investigating, they learn Jill, the wife of Peter's deceased partner, Shawn, in other research project, still blames him for her husband's death in a storm a few years ago. There is also Peter's estranged sister who raised his younger siblings after their parents' death while Peter went on to college. He seemed to have forgotten all about her & his family. Which one could have killed him or was it someone else?
I have read the majority of the books in this series and they are always an entertaining read. Spending time with Susie and Mary as they operate Dune House and of course help solve local mysteries is indeed lively and very interesting. I won't give anything away, I'll just say you won't be disappointed. It held my interest and attention from start to finish and as usual I had no idea who the culprit was. I highly recommend this book and this series. 👏👏📚
A good cozy mystery, this book kept me guessing until the very end, just ahead of Mary and Suzie. As part of an established series, the characters are well developed, and the plot follows a familiar pattern. Nevertheless, Cindy Bell succeeds in keeping the story fresh for both new and returning readers. The combination of home life, a love interest, a gorgeous dog, a murder investigation, danger, and a whole host of suspects makes this another winner.
This book is in the Dune House series. Suzie and Mary are hosting just a few guests as it is off season at their bed and breakfast. A body is found. It is a marine scientist. They feel that they have to get involved and solve his murder putting themselves in danger. At times the book is very suspenseful It is a good read as is all of her books.
I received an advance review copy, ARC, for free and I am leaving an honest opinion and voluntary review.
Once again Ms. Bell has knocked it out of the park with the Dune house crew! I love the well developed characters, and the logical story line. And best of all I can't solve the mystery before the villain is revealed.
