His ex-wife is back…and her job is to eliminate his team.

Braxton “Pharaoh” Graves and his elite team are on the verge of finally destroying The Agency, a nefarious group targeting them, when a large wrench is thrown into his carefully laid plans. Or, more accurately, a feisty, red-headed obstacle better known as his ex-wife.

After a near-deadly run-in with the tough, former CIA agent, Braxton knows he’s in trouble. Quinn is a force to be reckoned with and extremely dangerous. She’s also the love of his life. The woman he’s never been able to get over.

When Quinn Graves is hired to take out Ex Nihilo, she discovers the former Delta Force commander leading them is none other than her frustratingly stoic, completely hot ex-husband. Five years earlier, they had a whirlwind affair, Braxton stole her heart and they got married. But their marital bliss came to a crashing halt when Quinn was accused of treason.

After the accusation, Quinn went on the run, leaving Braxton blindsided. Hurt and betrayed, he faced endless questions from his superiors and wound up suspended from the job he loved.

Now with their lives colliding together again, it’s clear the fiery attraction between them never fully extinguished. They need to work together to defeat the final players of The Agency, but broken hearts and tattered trust complicate an already treacherous situation.

In a race against time, they must rescue one of their own, stop a chemical attack and figure out if second chances really exist. Can these former lovers-turned-enemies become lovers again? Or does their hurt run deeper than the love they once shared?

⚠️ 🫸 ✖️ SPOILER WARNING ✖️ 🫷 ⚠️

When I began reading this, it had the theme of “The War of the Roses”, the movie back in the 80’s with Michael Douglas & Kathleen Turner. Anybody remember that? I was so sure this was going to be a 5 star read for me because who doesn’t like the lovers to enemies theme? Former lovers turned into enemies but with the underlying love still there. Especially when it’s a 2nd chance trope with a formerly married couple who are both celibate during separation! 🙋🏼‍♀️Me of course. Sign me up!

So while it started out really wonderful and had me hooked, somewhere after the 2nd or 3rd chapter, it started to change the vibe and it was like another author took over and she did a whole switcharoo on me because it suddenly lost its appeal and some of the key elements that I initially found so interesting & entertaining. In fact, the whole suspense (and relationship for that matter) had so many plot holes, inconsistencies and stupidity. But before I get into all that, story arc first:

MCs met 5 years prior when they were working together on a case to take down a cartel. They were very attracted to one another and formed an “extraordinary” connection unlike anything they ever had with anyone else before where they knew instantly that they were each other’s person. So when the case was over, they went on vacation to Hawaii and ended up getting married all in the space of a week.

But after 3 months of married bliss, heroine who worked for the CIA was accused of being a traitor and stealing state secrets. Secrets that only the Hero knew about. So finding out that someone is framing her and wanting to protect Hero, she bales on him and goes into hiding. Hero in turn feels betrayed by heroine for running and doesn’t know if she was using him or not. When heroine calls him 2 days later to tell him that she is innocent and was going to ask for his help in clearing her name, he hangs up on her! Feeling betrayed & hurt, she goes into hiding and becomes an Assassin for hire. This part I didn’t understand because it is never explained why she did that. She was supposed to be one of the good guys, so why become a baddie?

Anyway, Hero in the meantime was questioned by his superiors and treated briefly as a suspect because of the info she supposedly stole that only he knew about. After the phone call where he hung up on her, he tried to reach her for 2 weeks but had no luck so after being pressured by his superiors to divorce heroine, that is what he does. (No talking or giving heroine a heads-up or anything).

So now in the present, it’s been 5 years later and we learn that his previous agency was dismantled and he has a new team of former ex-military & other agents that he trusts and considers family. Heroine is hired to kill all of them by the person Hero & his team are after.

In the opening chapter, we get her thoughts how deeply she was hurt by his desertion – especially when she needed him the most and he let her down. So she plants bombs all over a warehouse to kill him & his team. However, when the Hero shows up all alone, she has second thoughts of killing him as she remembers he is one of the good guys and not a criminal. 😜 But things don’t go as she planned because once Hero sees her, he starts shooting at her and they have a bit of a shoot out between them (hence for the “War of Roses” mention). Eventually they decide to talk & clear the air and she joins forces to help him & his team. Before you can say BOO, they are jumping each other’s bones and all is forgiven on heroine’s part. That’s when it started going downhill for me because she went from a bad ass/kick ass type heroine to a needy & hormonal one. 😕

SHE was the injured party from the two and had every right to be angry and hurt by him – and yet author did the opposite. We have POV after POV for most of the story where Hero acts like the injured party because she left him (conveniently disregarding the fact she told him she did so to protect him) and had she not run, they would have both been in trouble. HE was the one who didn’t trust her and believed she may have used him. HE was the one who divorced her. HE was the one who turned away from her when she needed him the most (aka when she called him to tell him she was innocent and he hung up on her!) and so on. Yet he acted as if she was at fault and not to be trusted. Why did he have so little faith in the woman he claimed to love so much? Why didn’t he investigate to see if she was at fault like any good husband or man in love would do?

And speaking of which, for an ex-CIA agent and supposedly smart & kick-ass, why didn’t SHE ever try to clear her name? LOL. Anyway, we have all these plot holes and stupidity that even for a fantasy romance/suspense it was way out there. When reading something, you want it to make sense and have some realistic aspect to it, otherwise what’s the point of it because it certainly isn’t entertaining to read something that frustrates you.

Anyway, they are now working together to catch the bad dudes and more frustration happens like when she is constantly being rescued by him & his team. What happened to being the badass & smart agent? Lol.

Then there is Hero’s POVs & actions. She was all into reconciling immediately with him after their talk and joining forces, while he had flipflopping moments in his POVs throughout the story with one minute he is stating how she is the love of his life and he is getting a 2nd chance to have his wife back, while the next minute he is stating how he still can’t trust her and is not sure they have a future. When she asks him several times of what happens next with them, he doesn’t answer and is not sure if they can ever be together again ☹️ - yet he has no issues with f****g her.

I was so pissed that she gave him a free pass on everything and he didn’t do any of the work to make it up to her. No apologies. No regrets. No trust - at least there was no point in the story after he continued to say he didn’t fully trust her where he had a lightbulb moment and say that he did! I wanted to see him admit his part in the fail of their marriage (because IMO it WAS all his fault!) - not have her beg him for crumbs because that’s what she did when she kept asking “What happens next with us?” or when she continued to ask him “Do you trust me?” and he wouldn’t give her an answer. He kept saying he doesn’t trust her in his POVs and while he said she was always it for him and knew she didn’t betray him, he still wasn’t sure about her. So then how do we go from that to a HEA with an ILY and marry me at the end just because they were in a life & death situation? Make it make sense authors! Also, no resolution on the work front for either MC. Hero was worried what would happen to his team after the mission was over. He thought they would all leave and go elsewhere and he would lose his "family". Author never again mentioned what happened unless it's on the Bonus Epilogue.

Lastly, another gripe I had is the stupid names he & his team call each other. When they are alone and supposedly all live in the same house and are one big family, why did they need stupid nicknames like “Pharaoh” for Hero, “Cardinal” for heroine, “Bruja”, Pyro, etc.?

Aside from all these things that frustrated & annoyed me to bits, I still ended up finishing it because at least they remained true to one another but authors really need to work on their writing. Remember who you are writing for. People reading your work are not dummies (well, not all of us! Lol 😉) and this weak female characterization of your heroines and mistreatment by your Heroes are not interesting or entertaining. All it does is annoy me. If that was your intent, good job!

Safety:

✔️ Divorced Couple
✔️ 5 Years separation
✔️ Celibate (FMC said she tried to move on during separation but couldn’t. She has kissed an OM but felt no sparks. Hero said he couldn’t move on with anyone else and didn’t want a random f**k with a stranger.)
✔️ OW/OM – No but hero has a woman pilot who he said is just a friend. In the end, he chooses her as his "best man" when he marries FMC because she is the one who grounds him but he expressed concern & overprotectiveness about her going on a solo mission. The scene did not play out well for me as it came out of nowhere and was not necessary. This OW will be the FMC in next book but still did not like the scene because he showed too much caring & affection for OW in the scene where nothing of such was shown before. This was on his wedding day to heroine BTW.
✔️ Contraception – None used
✔️Virgins – No
✔️ Suspense/Action – on a scale of 1-5, more of 4. Close to the end, the action was pretty good.
✔️Romance – on a scale of 1-5, I would rate it a solid 3 because of their staying true to one another but this had more a lust feel than actual love. Do I believe they were meant to be? MCs needed more of a connection & feelings then what we got.
✔️Character likability – on a scale of 1-5, more of a 2 for both. I found Hero too annoying, undecisive and horny all the time. Heroine came across as a wimp, needy and horny too who constantly needed rescuing. I liked the stronger personality that we got on first chapter which author should have kept with. The one that took no prisoners and didn’t need rescuing or anybody to hold her hand.
✔️ HEA – Re-married with plans to someday have kids. Bonus Epilogue that you have to sign up for newsletter. No thanks.

The book literally tore my heart to shreds. The emotion and depth were so powerful and compelling it knocked me flat on my backside with a total
inability to get back up.

Charissa Gracyk is one of my most favourite authors, the love and care she pours into each book knocks the breath out of you and leaves you begging for more.

She really is a true master of her craft, an author with an unlimited talent. She goes from strength to strength. Bringing you truly magical worlds time and time again that sweep you up into the spellbinding words on the page, with no care to return to daily life.

Braxton has been a constant throughout this series. He has always been stoic and a tough nut to crack but it wasn’t until reading this story that you understand why he is the way he is. I love that throughout each book Braxton has done everything in his power to support and protect his found family. The bond they all share is deep and founded on survival, respect and fighting to take down the evil hunting them.

Braxton is the epitome of a dominant alpha male. He’s strong both in mind and body and despite the reason ex nihilo came to be, he has a remarkably true moral compass. He’s a man who feels things deeply and once he’s invested in something he’s in it for life. What woman wouldn’t swoon to be the recipient of that focus!!!

Quinn is a true badass. She’s so strong in kind and has a backbone of steel. Watching her in action gives you a yearning to swap places and live a day in her life - what a truly memorable day that would be!!!

I love the bond she has with Braxton, despite the way they parted, their soul deep bond shines so brightly it’s almost blinding. It was heartwarming to see Quinn work as a team to bring down the evil, despite her discomfort on relying on anyone but herself she works in perfect synchronicity with all of them.

This is an absolutely epic read!!! A whirlwind of a rollercoaster ride that will stay with you forever. An absolutely perfect ending to a fantastic series.

Can’t wait to see what else Charissa has in store for us next!!!

If you can’t tell from this review I cannot recommend it highly enough.
There are no number of stars that would adequately portray the magic living within the pages of this book.

This book was the perfect ending to the Force Protection Delta series. Braxton finally gets his chance at happiness with more heart pounding action and romance, so many heart stopping, holding your breath moments. This is definitely a can’t put down, ignore your family book. Although this ended the series it can most definitely be read as a standalone. The story does a great job of telling background history without being boring for those who’ve read the previous books. The storylines were wrapped up and you felt satisfied with the ending. The best part is that a new series is teased at the end, and I’m hoping that the beloved characters of Force Protection Delta just might be given updates on their lives in the next series.

This book is the finale to the series and does not disappoint!!! Brax’s story tears at your heart strings, we the reader understand more about the reasons his façade is strong, why he is family oriented and looks after everyone to the very best of his ability after realising his wife was a traitor!
Quinn, his ex-wife is truly bad, strong, the perfect contradiction to Brax and always able to get under his skin, losing his careful control. When Braxton finds out she has been sanctioned to kill all his team, they manage to turn her from an enemy into someone who works with them. There’s plenty of action, suspense, will they get together, danger, secrets explained, second chances and so much more that will keep you turning the pages to find out who did what and why. Have loved this series and can’t wait to find out what our author has in store for her next series. Highly recommended.

Love will always find a way! I have fallen in love with the lovers-to-enemies-to-lovers trope. Two ex-spouses finding their way back to the person they were meant to be with is so satisfying. Throw in life-and-death situations that amp up the steamy romantic tension, and you’ve got an unforgettable reunion. I couldn’t wait for Braxton and Quinn to admit they still love each other!

Braxton and Quinn have history together, a deep connection formed during a short marriage. Lies and misunderstandings tore them apart, but rekindling their passion was so easy. Their intimate moments were hotter because they already knew what they liked, and their feelings were still intense. The jealousy scenes were my favorite part. They say jealousy isn’t a good look, but it looked so good on them!

Bravo to Charissa Gracyk for the jaw-dropping surprises in this final book! I was shocked, but what a way to end a series and wrap up the ongoing suspense plot. Each book has been great individually, but together as a series with a seamless flow from one book to another, it all ended perfectly!

This book wraps up the series (sob) and does not disappoint. I’ve been waiting for Brax’s story from the start and talk about hot, it is scorching hot. Brax is so put together and methodical but put his ex wife in the mix and he becomes a different person. I loved how Quinn could do that to him. She is a lot like him and their chemistry makes them whole. There is lots of action and suspense and steam and hints of a new series. You really need to one click this one.

Can you say second chance? We have Braxton, the team leader, up now! YAY!

We start right off with a wedding, then we hop into a bit of action! Quinn is known as the Cardinal an elite assassin, is charged with eliminating Braxton and his team, but, the twist is Braxton is Quinn’s ex husband.

These two are still explosive and they join forces to deal with The Agency. The trust is shaky at first not just for Braxton but for the team, however, an HEA is within reach!

Def a 5 star read!

It is done. The last book in a great series has come to an end. And what an explosion it turned out to be. All the guys of Ex Nihilo has found their soul mates. Only Braxton is left. Will he find a new love in his life?. His heart still beats for Quinn. An unexpected turn of events as they hunt down the last of the Agency. Surprises awaits you. I recommend this book totally. Not giving away anything. You have to get the series.

I'm sad to see this series come to an end, but it went out in the most explosive way.

I couldn't put this book down. If I didn't need sleep or go to work, I would've devoured it in one day. I was such a page turner, with so many "holy crap" moments and twists that came out of left field.

I loved seeing a side of Brax I didn't think he had. A happy, cheerful side. He's been the teams fearless leader and their rock though everything, to see him laughing and smiling was so nice.

I wasn't a fan of Quinn when she first showed up, she came off a little cocky, but the minute she realized she wasn't untouchable, that's when I started liking her.

I really enjoyed this book and the series and I hope the team makes an appearance in other series by Charissa.

Braxton Graves Delta Force Commander
Quinn Noelle Graves is Braxton’s ex-wife and former CIA Agent.

Braxton and Quinn have a past. Quinn shows up in midst of Braxton and his team
finally fighting off The Agency, which is a threat to the status quo of the World order.
Can Braxton and his team win over Quinn over to their side and have a Happily Ever After?

This book has edge of your seat suspense, danger, intrigue and a second chance
at love.

Great Job. Charissa Gracyk !!!!

I absolutely loved this book, but I'm heartbroken that this is the end of an amazing series. With each book in the series, you get to know Braxton, but by the end of this book, you totally understand. Braxton and Quinn are fire together.
This book holds your interest from the very first page. The storyline flows so smoothly, and the added intrigue keeps you turning the pages. Definitely five stars..looking forward to the new series!!

Man, I don’t like saying goodbye to old friends. That’s what I feel the characters from the Force Protection Delta series have become. But, if it had to end, what a way to go!

From the start of the series, I’ve had a thing for Brax. There’s something about a confident, composed man who can take charge and stay cool and collected in a crisis. But it’s such fun when a woman manages to create cracks in his trademark control and make his cool demeaner hit boiling in the blink of an eye. In other words, the chemistry was there in spades.

Quinn was the perfect match for him. Strong in her own right, yet able to get him to let down his hair… figuratively and literally. Well, at least the curls. Yes, there’s history and a trunk full of baggage, but watching them work through it had me cheering them on, rooting for their second chance at forever.

The action and tension in this book were off the charts. Everything came to a head with The Agency, and I loved how the entire team worked together to fight their nemesis. Tension, chills, and non-stop action led to a satisfying conclusion that wrapped up everything with a neat little bow. It was the perfect ending to a great series.

How? How in the world do I let go of this series? These characters? Easy. I don't - this may truly be one of my most favorite series to date! If you are not one to read action/suspense romance, THIS is the series that will change that for you. I say that because this series brought me a whole new appreciation and love for action heavy romance. It is quite simply JUST. THAT. GOOD.

Brax and Quinn were so much more than I could have hoped for. Their connection is undeniable, the chemistry between them practically palpable, and the tension ya'll, chefs' kiss!!
All in all the author has gifted us the most perfect topper for this series. I truly cannot say enough for her skill at bringing such rich characters and worlds to life as if they were playing out on a movie screen. Is cinematic reading a thing, because that is as close a description I can come up with.
I could go on and on, but by now hopefully you have one-clicked and started reading this series.
Allow me to now wallow in my book hang*ver as I wait patiently for the next series from this author (might wanna add that to your TBR, the thieves are coming ya'll, be still my heart!!!!)

We have followed the saga of Ex Nihilo and the series finishes with Braxton.

All the team have found love. While celebrating Saint and Mia’s nuptials, Braxton receives a strange text. As he heads to a requested meeting we find his ex-wife, contracted by the Agency to kill all of the team. When faced with seeing her husband again, Quinn can’t go through with it.

What follows is a wild and twisty ride to the finish. Quinn joins the team to take down the remaining Agency members. Secrets are revealed, an angry lion is narrowly escaped, love is reunited and a French dungeon brings it all together to the end. Can’t give too many spoilers!

I will say that Charissa wrote one heck of a story. Toward the end I just kept repeating to myself: “it has a HEA. It has a HEA. IT HAS A HEA!!!”

Dang it Charissa! My nerves were stretched to the end! 15/10 recommend. Perfect wrap up to this series!!!

Braxton " Pharoah" Graves gave his heart and last name to Quinn on the island of Hawaii. Three months later she disappeared, leaving a trail of betrayal and heartache. Or did she? Fast forward five years and she is now the assassin hired to take out Braxton's team for the Agency. Can she kill the only man she has ever loved?
In the final book in the Force Protection Delta series, second chances, high-octane action and a twisted twist brings the final conclusion to this military romantic suspense series. Gracyk's prior screenwriting skills shine through the action and drama with real feelings of the complex characters and storylines. The twist mentioned above is so unexpected and yet believable at the same time.
Ever- evolving in her storytelling depth, Gracyk brings the heat with this last book in the series, wrapping it up in a satisfying way that is not contrived or predictable.

What a great end to Charissa Grayck’s latest series. Braxton “Pharaoh” is the quiet, serious, and capable leader of Ex Nihilo. Quinn is ex-CIA who disappeared 5 years earlier when she was unjustly accused of crimes against her country. Now she’s the latest assassin the Agency sent to end Ex Nihilo. And she’s Braxton’s ex-wife. What??

In the first twist of the story, Braxton is injured when a parking lot explodes. When he finds out who caused the explosion, he’s enraged and sets out to find her. When he finds her, will she turn on the Agency and join his team? This is a fast-paced, action-packed suspense story with chemistry between Braxton and Quinn that is so hot it will heat up your Kindle!

It’s hard to come to the end of a series, but the author has brought all the storylines to an end in a way that did not seem forced or contrived. I’m sad to say goodbye to Ex Nihilo, but I’m excited for what Charissa Grayck will bring us next! 10/5 stars!

The final book in the Force Protection Series.

This is it, the last one and damn it was made to be just that! This book will keep you flipping pages, holding your breath, and mouth hanging open.

Braxton and Quinn, maybe because they were so alike, they just couldn’t make their marriage work but when Braxton finds out she has been hired to kill all of his team, they manage to get her to change sides. Now, the couple is fighting side by side to take down the Agency.

This was bittersweet, getting to the last page, knowing that not only the book was ending but so was the series, but before we make it to the end, Charissa is giving us everything! Hang on, and enjoy the last one in this series but we know that she will give us another one just as explosive!

What a great book! This is not your simpering FMC type of book, the FMC is a ex CIA liaison and now an assassin, (The Cardinal), and who is her next mark? Her ex-husband Braxton.

We see a quick prologue of when Quinn and Braxton meet and how quickly they get married and what splits them apart. Five years later Braxton sees that most of his friends are paired up after once again going head to head with the evil Agency when he gets an unknown text saying that the person has intel for him. Since all of his friends are celebrating the marriage of Saint and Mia, and are slightly inebriated, Braxton goes alone. Unbeknownst to Braxton he is walking into a trap by The Cardinal.

Without going into more detail, you really need to read this book, it is such a great ride!

Wow this is such a fantastic read. Quinn and Braxton were just amazing together.

Quinn, an assassin is the ex wife of ExNihilo team leader, Braxton and when they meet again after 5 years, it's to kill the team.

The steam is explosive and the romance that's reignited is just pure delight. These two are so compatible. Fiesty and stubborn both of them but they never forgot each other.

So well written. It's an easy read book, fast paced and a great plot that pulls you in from the start. Characters that are likeable and wonderful also.

The team also were just divine and is sad it's the end of the ex nilio series, though a spin off is coming. This series has been the best and I can't wait for more.

Wow, what an ending! I loved this book and wish I could read it again for the first time.

This whole series is amazing and the way Gracyk weaves the plot, connecting all the dots through each book, is phenomenal. Look out for a plot twist you might not see coming!

Not only does everything the team has been fighting against get tied up nicely with a big red bow, but it culminates in a powerful second chance love story for two people who couldn’t be more deserving. Quinn and Brax stole my heart. Watching them fight their feelings and finally give in was so satisfying.

I want more and can’t wait to see Pyro meet her match in the new series!

What a great conclusion to the Force Protection Delta 6 series. We always knew Pharoah needed a special kind of story since he was the rock-steady leader of the group. The serious one. We got that in his story with Quinn. This is a quick and exciting second chance book with explosions, laughs, and enough spice to go along with the sweet to keep you reading non-stop until the end. I enjoy Charissa's writing and her teams of tough guys and girls who meet their matches and find their HEAs. You cannot go wrong reading Force Protection Delta.

Thank you for the eARC Charissa Gracyk

As the leader of the team, it was fitting that Braxton's story would also be the finale for the series. How fun to see the relationship between the calm under pressure/in control Braxton and fun-loving Quinn. But what could lead to her being hired to kill him? There is non-stop action and danger as the team moves forward to bringing an end to The Agency with some surprising twists along the way. I loved this series and while I'm sad it is ending, I'm also looking forward to the new series coming up.

Charissa has finished FPD with a Bang! Boy does things get dicey. Braxton by Charissa Gracyk was a thrilling conclusion to the Force Protection Delta series. I really enjoyed the second chance with an ex-husband elements since both Braxton and Quinn hadn't broken up/divorced under "regular" circumstances. The way that The Agency was dealt with felt satisfying. I really appreciated the twist around one of The Agency members. Overall, I enjoyed Braxton and how the series concluded!

Braxton finally gets his HEA story.
His ex-wife is the last person he expects to renter his life. Especially as an assassin with a kill order against him he’ll have his work cut out to convince Quinn all is not as she’s been led to believe. Especially with their past history.
An action packed read with an explosive ending. I loved it. It has so many twist, and reveals.

I received a review reader’s copy of the book, and I am leaving this review voluntarily

Braxton, intense, broody, leader of the team, assassin, and...spontaneous? Enter Quinn. The ex wife. Who comes back into Brax with a bang (both literally and figuratively), to help the team finally defeat their enemy. This story was the ultimate twists and turns, secrets, revelations, betrayal, constant danger, absolutely masterful.
