Informative, easy-to-read, comprehensive guide to ball pythons. Each author of such books provide a unique perspective. I prefer to read books authored by a longtime keeper/breeder of the reptile of topic because they will have the most hands-on experience and intimate knowledge of these animals. Often with advice you can gain nowhere else. Kevin McCurley of NERD, while sometimes acting in ways I don't personally agree with, IS absolutely an expert on ball pythons (and other snakes) and I respect his knowledge and experience with these animals. Easy 5/5 stars for a top tier book on balls that I would recommend to every snake keeper.
This book amazed me with the amount of details that it contained as well as the overall variety of different aspects of snake keeping that were discussed. The book even goes into depth with medical advice which is something that I did not expect. If you are looking for an excellent guide book on Ball Python husbandry you will be hard pressed to find a better overview than this one.
Unlike the previous reviewer, who evaluated the book on punctuation and writing style, I will say this about the author; Kevin McCurley is one of the leading breeders in the world on ball pythons. If you want to know something about ball pythons and how to raise one for your very own, this would be a good book to own.
The hardcover version of this book is far superior and contains much more information about breeding and the hobby than the paperback version. The paperback version deals with how to keep ball pythons for yourself, and leaves out a lot of the advanced breeding and genetic information.
