Rate this book
Anita Andrews has always been a moon-half-full kind of girl. Until recently, when symptoms of ADWitchD started to surface, making it impossible to focus on her studies. Determined to make it through her final term of college, this werewolf-witch hybrid will do whatever it takes—even if it means breaking a few rules.

But finals aren’t the only thing brewing up trouble for her. She can’t stop thinking about the private investigator she fell in love at first sight with just a few months ago. After helping solve a mystery in her hometown, he vanished, as vampires tend to do.

Now he’s back, but he’s her professor and making her last term a living nightmare.

Can she rely on her no-distractions plan and newfound no-nonsense attitude to get her through to graduation? Or will she risk it all for a bite at love?

This was somehow both too long and too short. It’s been a while since I read the first one and I forgot a lot of the world building, and honestly you need it. I was a bit lost for the first while because there’s no recap, obviously, and the only background we are given is about her character not the story. It also didn’t really wrap up. It just ended without any resolution. The whole thing felt a bit messy tbh

Short and sweet, it seemed like too much of a lead up to be wrapped up that quickly. The solution seemed a bit too convenient and would have liked a little more. But it’s a novella right? So it was a nice bite sized morsel of paranormal romance!

The chemistry between Cal and Anita was great, but I do think the second half of the novella was very rushed. I couldn’t connect with the characters, so that’s where this story fell flat for me. It was a cute cozy paranormal read that I think many will enjoy!

I had not read Witchfished before going into this one and I think that was a mistake.
While it is a standalone, there is a lot of reference to stuff that happened in the previous book that I think would have made this read a bit smoother/less rushed?
I enjoyed this one and want to read the first book in this series or anything more the author decides to write in the future.
Much love to E.F Watson for my ARC!

✨ ARC REVIEW ✨

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ | 🌶️🌶️

Did I immediately drop everything to read another E.F.Watson novella?
Yes, yes I did and I’d do it again 🙌🏼

These cozy romance novellas are just so dang fun!! I absolutely loved reading this story and catching up with the characters I met in Witchfished. The tension between Cal/Anita is so good, this story definitely stepped up the spice. Plus the nicknames and how he takes care of her?! Oh my! 😮‍💨 I also really enjoyed the mystery/investigation in this one again, keeps you so hooked and the mental health representation was great to see!

Thanks so much @e.f.watsonwrites for letting me sneak onto your arc team at the last minute - such a pleasure! 🤭🤍

Chances are, if you’ve asked me for a fall rec, or if I saw you ask someone else for a fall rec, or anything fall themed whatsoever came up in conversation, I told you to pick up Witchfished ASAP! So, it probably comes as no surprise to anyone that I hopped so fast on this second book in the Lovespelled Novella series, featuring MCs Anita and Cal!

What I liked about the book:
I appreciated the prologue being a callback to the scene in book 1 where Anita and Cal met, just from Anita’s point of view. It was a nice refresher of the event as well as of how supportive Enoki was, and it was fun to see in a different point of view.

I loved the student x teacher relationship (this is one of my most favorite tropes), but I especially loved how Cal did not care one iota about getting caught! He was just like “whatever happens, happens” which was a take on this trope I haven’t seen before! It was hilarious.

I loved how there was a love triangle, but not really. While Anita’s friend, Krue, was obviously in love with her, she definitely did not share those same feelings for him. I enjoyed that from the beginning it was made clear to the reader there would be no official love triangle.

I loved Anita’s roommate Millie and can’t wait for her story! She has the worst luck to the point of Anita seeking Enoki’s official help, so I just know it’s going to be such a great story! Why do I feel she’s going to end up with Krue though!!! I sure hope if that’s the case his character has a lot of shining up because he is currently not good enough for my girl Millie!

I loved how involved Enoki (FMC from book 1) was in their relationship. She helped Cal to set up the most romantic getaway for the two of them, and she is definitely the one who is speaking in Rex’s ear about the dating situation being ok 😊

The spice was spicing in this one. In book 1, there was spice at the very end. In this one, we got spice several times and much quicker. I felt the timing of the spice made sense for each book, and I loved the amount we got in this one.

My only criticism:
I felt like the drug problem on campus took a back seat and then was a bit jarring at the end with the wrap up.

Thank you to E.F. Watson for the opportunity to read this book. The thoughts and opinions expressed above are honest and my own.

Aahhh this second novella in the Lovespelled series was just delightful! Another cozy paranormal romance read that I really enjoyed! We met Anita & Cal in Witchfished and now Anita is back at school and the hot vampire is her new professor 😳 The witchy werewolf FMC has ADHD - how will she ever focus on her studies now!?

I know I couldn’t! want to read all the books with a hot vampire MMC 😍 Cal is it and I loved seeing the relationship develop, I feel like a lot happened in this quick read! More murder mysteries to solve, friend drama and a lil spice!

This was such a cute novella.
Cal was a man obsessed, a man in love and I was here for it. Everything he did, was with her in mind, and that's adorable.
Anita just wanted to pass college and seeing the man she fell in love with as a professor was not in the cards.
There was no drama and I'm so grateful for it. They just got together and it was perfect

I think that this novella has a lot of potential and it was so cute! However, I do find that there were rushed/missing pieces. I understand it is a novella but do believe there could have been a better way to piece together some of the story! I didn’t feel like I could connect with either of the characters but I do enjoy this author’s writing style (:

Not a bad little novella! Cute story but felt a bit rushed towards the end. Left it open for a continuing story, so I would be interested in seeing if the author writes further stories with the same characters. Fun, fluffy romance with a little suspense aspect as well. Very little spice compared to others I have read. Overall, I enjoyed reading the short(er) story and would look forward to reading more from this author.

A quick read with paranormals...
And a forbidden romance...oh yes...
But the author ended this mystery a bit hastily and there was a severe lack of info in the action department...
But good to pass your time...

Book Review: Vampboozled by E.F. Watson✨🩸

Okay spooky babes buckle your seatbelts, grab your potions, and maybe a garlic necklace because Vampboozled is book two in the Love Spell Novella series, and oh boy… it’s a chaotic delight.

This time we’re following Anita, our half-witch, half-werewolf ADWitchD girly who cannot focus to save her life but is determined to make it through her final exams. Enter Cal, the private investigator/vampire detective from Witchfished…except plot twist…he’s her professor now. And he’s pretending he doesn’t know her. I was cackling. Like full witchy giggles echoing through the realm.

We’ve got bad witchy puns (the best kind), a university full of mysterious potion overdoses, and a dash of academic tension that’s pure chef’s kiss. You want high stakes, a sprinkle of danger, and some spicy “hot professor” energy? Yep, it’s all bubbling in this cauldron.

The mystery kept me hooked, the banter had me laughing, and the spice oh babes, the spice may have been an afterthought, but when it hit? 🔥 It hit.

If you want something cute, chaotic, a little spooky, and totally addictive, Vampboozled is a 10/10 cozy Halloween read. Perfect for my fellow witchy babes who love a good campus scandal and a vampire with a hot possessive need!

This novella is a fun, cozy read, perfect for fans of light, low-drama romance. While it’s a standalone, reading the previous book may have provided helpful context, as there are references to the previous book that I missed!

This story follows Cal, completely devoted to Anita, in a sweet romance. I enjoyed their romance and story but the transition from enemies to lovers happens quickly, leaving little room for development. The subplot involving a campus drug case is interesting but feels underexplored due to the novella’s brevity. I would have loved a full book so it wasn’t so fast paced but it was still a fun read!

The author’s writing style is enjoyable, and I look forward to reading more! Despite the rushed pacing, it’s an entertaining read, and I’m eager to see where the series goes next, especially with hopes for Millie’s story (I love her and want her to have a solid love story!)

This is a cute book, though I was hoping for more following my reading of Witchfished directly before I dove into Vampboozled.

Despite its weaknesses, if you came for a lighthearted monster romance, you’re going to be happy! I just wish that this could have had the buildup that Witchfished did in both the romance and mystery department. Like other reviewers have pointed out, things felt very rushed, whether it was the transition from loathing to loving between Cal and Anita, or the drug case that Cal is digging into on campus. I feel like if the novella had been bumped up to about 150 pages, things would have felt better paced and made more sense.

Even though the sophomore entry into the Lovespelled series doesn’t live up to its predecessor, I can solidly say I will still be looking forward to the next book in the series (I want Millie to find her true love!!).

A huge thank you to EF Watson for choosing me to be part of her ARC team. Excited to see what’s next!

“You are a potent drug. One I can’t seem to get out of my head. If I didn’t know better, I’d swear Enoki put an infatuation spell in my coffee that first morning.”

It was mostly very cute. The beginning and Cal’s attitude angered me. And the ending seemed rushed. A book, even in a series, should have a solid beginning, middle, and end. This had an ending but super rushed kind of unorganized and confusing. I’m not sure how to describe it. It didn’t make sense.

I loved Anita but wanted more of her happy and confident. I did like Anita ans Cal as a couple but again, it all felt rushed. Maybe because it’s a novela. Novela’s are hard to pull of.

First of all thank you @e.f.watsonwrites for the coolest arc of this spooky season 🧛🏻‍♂️🧙🏼‍♀️🐺

This book has big vampire diaries vibes and I love it !

You have to remember that it is a novella so it’s fast paced. Which means that unfortunately there’s some bits and pieces that could have been more developed if it was a longer version. I wish the investigation was a little bit more developed because the storyline is really cool ! And I loved wondering who was tempering with the potions. 🧪

But don’t get me wrong it’s really a cool story !! I really liked it and I loved that she’s a werewitch and that her best friend is human. ☠️🫀

Thank you again for this really cool book @e.f.watsonwrites !! ❤️‍🔥🫶🏻

I ended up reading this because I read Witchfished and I had no idea what I was getting myself into. I didn't even read the synopsis for either of them,I just loved the covers and tropes lol. I just jumped right in to the thick of it.

This was a cute, quick read that I thoroughly enjoyed. And I think it was also a really unique plot line that I haven’t seen done before! And absolutely fell in love with the characters and their small town.

I am so happy Anita and Cal are back for their own story, they were my favorite side characters in Witchfished.
Like I was waiting patiently for a story about these two and E.F. Watson definitely did an amazing job, continuing the worldbuilding and creating Anita & Cals Story..

I love the Professor/Student trope, well forbidden romance in general but I loved these two characters so much, they made me laugh, giggle, blush and scream at my screen okay.

First we have Cal is a vampire and private investigator who has been in love with Anita since he met her at her friends coffee shop the first time in Witchfished, so being offered a position at the college as an professor and investigating recent student overdoses on the focus potion, say less he agrees!
And Anita oh my Anita. She's a werewolf-witch hybrid with ADwitchD, she’s so close to graduating and doesn’t want to let her issues stop her so she can “prove” herself to everyone that she can finish something! (So relatable especially as someone who has ADD/ADHD) I love that she doesn’t run from her problems most of the time she faces them head on, except maybe that one time but we‘ll forgive her for that okay!!
The guy she fell for who just disappeared without a word? He's her new professor CAL. And man do the sparks fly these two are just perfection. I loved their characters so much, the banter, the tension and the mysteriousness with everything going on in town and at the campus perfection. Yes this was fast paced but I think it was right for this story and the what was going on it was short, sweet and a fall must read.

"I know you don't love yourself right now, but I wish you could see yourself the way I see you." We all need someone who will say this to us!

And they way Anita’s friends, and family support these two and support her.. okay maybe her brother took a minute but he supported her wholeheartedly eventually.

I love seeing characters from the first story back in the second.. I can’t wait to see this series continue, whether in more novellas or a full blown book.

Thank you so much to the author E.F. Watson for this ARC!!

October is ADHD awareness month and what a coincidence, I read the perfect book for October!
ᴠᴀᴍᴘʙᴏᴏᴢʟᴇᴅ by ᴇ.ғ. ᴡᴀᴛsᴏɴ is a short, cozy paranormal novella. This story is about a werewitch with ADHD, a vampire, a mystery and a forbidden love story! It is the second book in the lovespelled series. As soon as I finished the first book (Witchfished) I wanted to get to know more about Cal and Anita ❤️. I knew they would be a treat for me; with their different personalities and the werewitch-vampire romance, ᴠᴀᴍᴘʙᴏᴏᴢʟᴇᴅ didn't disappoint me! The banter and the steamy scenes were just perfect!❤️👌

I loved how the author E.F. Watson penned ✎ᝰ the entire storyline, keeping the suspense till the end! I loved how she mentioned ADHD and the efforts made by the other characters to help and be with the one dealing with it. I also loved how she gradually developed the relationship between Cal and Anita!❤️(*it's getting hot!🔥🔥🔥)

🧙‍♀️Overall, I had fun reading this cozy read! I loved it❤️. The suspense, the romance and the spice🌶️🌶️! Is just perfect. It's a perfect read for this spooky season!

Short and sweet addition to the Lovespelled series

I really enjoyed returning to the world E.F. Watson created starting with Witchfished. Though this book can stand alone, and she does re-introduce characters from the first one, I would highly recommend reading Witchfished first; not just for familiarity with the characters but to also help set the tone of the world itself to understand how magic and non-humans fit into the world she has created.

Knowing this is a novella, I had lower expectations for character/relationship development vs a 300+page book I still felt she was able to convey the plot fairly well. There did seem to be a bit left off-screen in terms of the plot and its resolution towards the end, but I suspect that may also be due to the hints that another book in the series may be coming later which will hopefully further resolve the unanswered questions.

Be warned that if you read the CW in the beginning it may be a little spoilery, though some of my expectations of that were pleasantly subverted in how the plot resolved.

SPOILER below!!!
\\\///

Specifically I kept expecting her to use the illegal focus potion that was part of the driving plot for why Cal was suddenly a professor after he had previously been introduced into Witchfished as an investigator. Cal was still an investigator and while his cover was teaching forensic science he's also there to look into OD' deaths being caused by a black market drug trade on the focus-pocus drugs that's been causing student deaths! Instead, it turns out her friend that sold her the potion was just an idiot forgetting that she's half werewolf and she ends up dosed with some wolfsbane! Luckily Cal is there to save the day to help drive towards their HEA.

///\\\

Over all I enjoyed the book and look forward to reading more from this author. I plan on buying a physical copy to join Witchfished on my shelf!

Definitely a nice quick series to add to my fall seasonal reads list!

“Society is hard…I don’t think I’ll ever figure it out.”
Same, bestie.
Meet Anita. She’s a werewolf-witch hybrid who has only just started messing with her powers, she’s this close to graduating, she’s reeeally struggling to focus…and the guy she fell for who just disappeared without a word? He’s her new professor.
Well.
Anita’s need to finish school just to prove she can finish something is so real. She has so much to deal with, plus ADWitchD on top of everything? Please. Hard relate.
She’s such a kickass character. She doesn’t run from her problems, she faces them head-on. Okay, except the one time, and that was big, but we can’t hold it against her…
Hey, who let Cal be so damn hot? Ugh. I’d let him bite me (I’d let Anita bite me, too, btw). He’s so kind and caring to Anita; he knows exactly what she needs to function best. And even when she’s down on herself, he doesn’t invalidate her feelings, he just shares his positive thoughts about her: “I know you don’t love yourself right now, but I wish you could see yourself the way I see you.”
Sigh.
I am so crazy about this little series. I mean it. I have so much fun reading these novellas, and I can’t wait for the next one.
I hope you love them as much as I do (you will).

Spice:🌶️

I really love the Lovespelled novella series, they’re just the perfect combo of sweet romance, great characters, hilarious banter, and just a drop of drama and spice to keep things interesting! In Vampboozled we follow Cal and Anita and the continuation of their brief but fierce attraction from Witchfished. Anita is in her last semester of college and is just trying her best to beat a triple dose of senior slump due to her brain feeling like a jumbled mess ever since her wolf and her magic clashed together and seemingly refuse to settle into coexistence. And while there is a potion going around that may help her with her focus problem… there’s also more than one problem with the potion… a problem she isn’t willing to take a risk on. Not only is she in a bit of a slump due to her focus problem but the man who she felt a bone deep connection with in her hometown just up and disappeared without even a wave goodbye. But Anita is determined to put all that behind her and graduate with as few distractions as possible. Until, of course, she walks into her nighttime paranormal forensic class and lo and behold her new professor just happens to be her hometown connection… Cal. What follows is a quick short story of such a sweet but forbidden romance, amazing characters, and a few twists and turns until our characters finally get their happily ever after! HAPPY READING 📖

This book was such an interesting take on Neuro diversity and self medication. Anita is a werewitch who has focus issues but they say she can't have ADWitchD because she isn't a full blown witch. She has turned to taking focus pocus potion, an illegal substance that is made to supposedly help with focus issues.

Cal is a vampire and private investigator who has been in love with Anita since he met her at her friends coffee shop the first time, so being offered a position at the college as an adjunct professor and investigating recent student overdoses.

The two are drawn together and it seems Anita may have information for Cal's case, but the price could be high. For me though the most important moment was when Anita was SO mad that her brain can't just function the way it is meant to and her frustration that she can't get the help she so urgently needs. This is such a real and valid moment for all of the undiagnosed neurodivergent humans who are told they don't "seem" to fit into the mold of neurodivergence but know in their own own minds that they need help. It can lead to finding alternative forms of help that can be unsafe.

I ate this novella up in a single sitting!I needed more Cal and Anita after meeting them in Witchfished and E.F. Watson had me at vampire and werewitch romance.

First off…okay Cal 🥵! I was not expecting a dominant and pining Cal, especially since he came off quiet and a little shy in Witchfished. I was here for his confidence and the fact that he did not care if they were caught in their student x teacher relationship. Loved her approach on this trope! I also loved how he helped Anita work through her ADWitchD and tuning into her werewolf side. It was so nice for Enoki to be so involved in helping Cal plan their getaway. I’m glad we got a little more of Rex and Enoki in Vampboozled.

This was a quick and cute paranormal romance read perfect for spooky season! Highly recommend the Lovespelled Novella series for cozy fall vibes. Thank you E.F. Watson for an e-ARC of Vampboozled and opportunity to provide my own honest review.

I am so happy Anita and Cal are back for their own story. They were my favorite secondary characters in Witchfished and I was hopeful they would somehow reunite. I wasn’t expecting it to be in the classroom, but it worked well. I do really want to learn more about what Anita was learning in that class, as the topic was interesting, but I’m glad it reconnected her with Cal.

I love the effort that (mostly) everyone in Anita’s life goes to so she has a chance at being happy despite the circumstances. Between trying to control her wolf and Cal reappearing in her life, there’s a ton that could (and does) go wrong, but she’s never without the support of her family and friends.

There was even more worldbuilding in this second novella, and I loved all of it. The mystery of this story is a bit darker I think, since it has more implications and is related to what I would compare to big pharma, and I enjoyed seeing how that was incorporated.
