No one saw it coming. The attacks began out of nowhere. Giant alligators emerged from the sewers, huge bats swarmed New Mexico, an army of Chupacabras invaded Texas, and Thunderbirds soared the skies searching for prey. . . All across the globe, the cryptids came out of the woods, rose up from beneath the waves, and crawled out of dark caves. Humanity's only hope is to find out what is behind the attacks and destroy it or face extinction!
I love fictional stories about cryptids. There's something about the boogeyman that intrigues me. Stories past down and around, things that are unexplained. The cover of this book caught my eye, the description interesting.
Unfortunately, the best part of the book is the cover. The writing was poor, like the author wrote it for a high school class and didn't bother to proofread it. Sentences made no sense, the ending was rushed and I, the reader, was left unsatisfied. I suppose the fact it was a really fast read was a Godsend.
I gave it two stars because someone actually took the time to write it and the story had promise.
Ummm, I don't want to say this is bad... but it certainly wasn't my cup of tea! Though the book is called Cryptid War, it's barely about Cryptids at all... it's basically like -Cryptids have attacked in locations all over the world *insert very brief descriptions of cryptids*, *insert overly wordy, violent, deadly acts of killer cryptids*, and then insert a bunch of back and forth dialogue between military personnel and a priest-... the lore of the cryptids is basically non existent. And what you do get is so vague that it's really impossible to get an idea of anything that happened on a global scale or why 😂 you only really get the perspective of one group of military personnel. While you get some perspective of other people being attacked and killed, it's hardly relevant info at all 😅 If the description of this book had been "cryptids vs A typical army men and a priest" then it might make sense 😂 even then I would say it's lackluster. If you want to read something about cryptids mutilating people in very detailed ways, while they're being shot at, set on fire, or blown up... check this out 🤷🏻♀️
This was a fairly quick and graphically brutal Cryptid horror survival. It drew me in and the gore started fairly quickly and was somewhat realistic despite being about Cryptids. It was incredibly engaging and I loved it. I liked how it was different encounters/ deaths before coming back to the main group so you could see how people were fairing all over the world. And the showdown with the final boss was pretty decent too. And i also enjoyed how hard to kill the cryptids are which made it more believable to me.
Very different from what I was expecting. Not quite as good as I thought it would be. Too hurried by the author. Kind of like he was tired and just wanted to finish it. The climatic end lost something in the finish. He could have built it up and really made it pop. I still think he is a good author and have really enjoyed his other books.
This book had me so caught up! From the beginning of trying to figure out what triggered the attacks to the end still wondering….Wow, chaos and then silence. It truly was enjoyable. The story never got dull and dry. It remained consistent and very interesting.🤗
Ok,it was a quick read, but it was fun, lots of action ,characters not well developed but like I said a quick read, but the premier was good, the action great and I think I would enjoy a longer sequal, exploring next phase in the crypti d wars
Fast paced and brutal cryptids just what I expected from Eric. The cryptids of all types rise up and attack out of the blue no one is prepared. It comes down to a Jesuit Priest and a band of cavalry soldiers to defeat the menace. Interesting tale, short and sweet.
The action started right off and characters that I thought would stick around got killed off, throughout the story. Unexpected but helped move the story along.
