For centuries, the Huntsman has searched the mortal world for his long-lost love, stolen from him by the Morrigan—the vengeful goddess of fate, victory, and death…
When a mysterious stranger saves Tam from being cruelly—and perhaps fatally—outed, Tam quickly discovers that his rescuer is no ordinary he’s a cursed spirit from another world. The fae of Elfhame are free to love whoever they want, without judgment, and when Eadric offers to take Tam to live among them, Tam can’t resist accepting.
And it’s not just that the offer carries the promise of all he’s ever dreamed of. The draw Tam feels to Eadric is undeniable—a captivating force that sparks across his skin and straight to his heart with even the simplest touch.
But Eadric is haunted by the deadly Wild Hunt, and at its mercy, the pair are quickly plunged into a world of unforgiving goddesses and ancient magic. Not even his certainty that his feelings could never be returned can keep Tam from hopelessly falling for Eadric, whom he is determined to free from his curse before the Wild Hunt can devour his soul. Even if he has to break his own heart to do it.
Time is running out though, and even as the magnetic attraction between them builds until Tam can’t help but wonder if Eadric might feel more for him than he’d ever dared to hope, it may be too late to save Eadric from being consumed by the curse he’s fought so long to escape.

Oh my goodness, I could not wait to read this book after reading Light the Shadows and I was not disappointed! The story had me totally emotionally hooked right from the start and it didn’t let go until the end! The plot moves along really well and is so interesting and exciting. The best part about it is that all the challenges and danger push Tam and Eadric together more. I also really loved seeing Tam go from feeling so unworthy and ashamed to loving himself as much as he deserved! His character grew so much over the book and that really became a main part of the story. Tam and Eadric’s will-they-won’t-they romance was the best part of the book. It had me on the edge of my seat cheering for them all the way through. I love these two so much. They are so sweet and they deserve their happy ending so much! The spice was also so worth the wait!
DNF 'THOUGH THOUGH THOUGH THOUGH' The constant use of the word distracted me enough to become severely annoying, to the point I couldn't even focus on anything other that 'when is the author gonna drop the next THOUGH?'. The book drags and drags and nothing happens, plus the writing style does not help in building up interest or making the MC a little less flat and one-dimensional - I love verbose books, but when the verboseness adds to the quality of the prose, lifting it to higher levels. Such was not the case here, THOUGH, as the verboseness only weighted the already lumbering and sluggish prose, making it a bit of a bore... I ended up DNF'ing because I really couldn't care less about the characters and the story.
Absolutely loved it! Eadric and Tam's journey is not an easy one. They are tested at every turn, and all for love. There were twists and turns that I didn't see coming, and its intensity was so easy to get lost into. The world building was so detailed, I could picture myself there with them. All of the characters were so well rounded and Tam's development throughout the story was beautifully heartbreaking and exciting at the same time. The tension between Tam and Eadric was so intense, you could cut it with a knife! It's a slow burner for sure, but the build up is so worth the result! I can't wait to read more about other characters in future books in this series!
The Huntsman and the Spellweaver is everything I want in a romantasy! It has action, strong world building, realistic emotional development, and just the right amount of steam where it counts 😉 Tam and Eadric are lovely! Laurence does a wonderful job in drawing you in, keeping you wanting more, and gives you a few treats along the way! Well worth the read, I can’t wait to see what she writes next. I’m hooked!
1.5 Nothing happens for about 3/4 of the book. The majority of the book is the inner thoughts of Tam and he’s as insecure and dense as can be which is just frustrating. Eadric has so much potential but he’s sidelined in favor of just being a “mystery” to Tam. It’s a slog of a book for very little payoff.
