Conquistadors

Rate this book
The Protectorate – an interdimensional empire that has conquered five timelines so far – has set its sights on ours. Led by a man willing to risk everything for power and conquest, armed with technology a hundred years ahead of ours – technology promising salvation to its allies and doom to its enemies – and drawing on a far deeper military history, the Protectorate Expeditionary Force has arrived to invade and incorporate our world into the greatest empire the multiverse has ever known, or die trying.

And as the war for the future of our timeline begins, and spreads right across the world, we are forced into a fight we cannot win …

…. And yet dare not lose.

Great read!

Chris wrote this in such a way as it is hard to root for just one side! I know America and all that but seeing the gov and the way it was, it is easy to just say screw it maybe time for a change! Shades of grey is all I can say. I really had a hard time putting the book down. Lots of action and too believable characters. This is written on my wife's account so don't go blaming her!

Good plot - politics not for everyone

From a military plot standpoint was interesting. The English author has a very jaded view of all American political factions (apparent disdain for both liberals and MAGA and an extra dollop for the progressives) and treats the non-defense aspects of the Federal government as useless.
The views evinced seem to be 19th century without the racism. (If only the Victorians had been willing to adopt Anglicized Indians as full citizens). Even more this way than his colonialism space epics. The good society needs to be aggressively imperialistic and not overly concerned with collateral damage.
But on the whole a good read if the political overtones don’t annoy one too much.

Crosstime Invasion

This first novel in the series makes the invaders a plausible power to attract allies in a near future version of our world. They have significant technological superiority but limited logistical resources. I hope the sequels will come fairly quickly, but the author has several other series to support.

great start to a new series

The only disappointment I had with this was when I reached 92% on kindle and realised it was finished ! Great story and I had it read in a couple of days. Certainly one for fans of alternative history and alien invasion stories. Good characters and a unique story. Hopefully we don’t have long to wait for the next in the series. Well done Chris

Fun book in the author's style with a cool premise and mixing alt-history, many worlds multiverse and present day Earth invasion (though not by aliens this time but other timeline humans) offering a good package that stops at decent tbc point.

Goatfoot

Another great Neutral book that works current Sociopolitical situations into a awesome story Arc. Looking forward to the next novel. Hope it comes out soon.

Extremely populist leaning. I stopped reading after a third of the book.
