When Emma Belmont is invited to attend an exclusive gallery event to represent her newspaper, she sees it as an opportunity to achieve the promotion she's always dreamed of. She doesn't realise that a night bound for success will result in total and utter devastation.
A damning newspaper article. A tortured artist who hides his identity. And a British aristocrat who is following her every move.
Her words start a chain of events that she's powerless to stop.
She doesn't know who to trust or where to turn. But she knows one thing... The pen is mightier than the sword. Because after reading her article, he wants her dead. And he'll stop at nothing to make her the next victim on his extensive kill list.
A stalker And a saviour.
A beast And a billionaire.
But which one is which? And will Emma survive long enough to find out the truth?
She shattered his pride, now she must face the fallout... Because the devil is on the prowl. And he wants his pound of flesh.
Holy shit this was so good. At first I thought 'ah it's slow burn, I'm not in the mood to read' and later found myself flipping through pages and GUESS WHAT? I finished reading it in a day🤣🤣.
Can we please talk about the cover for a second lol like it looks so pretty. Those skulls with that pretty violet flames looks so good imo.
Plot? Devoured it. It was slow at first but got fast and suspenseful very soon. Such a good start to the series (Seven books Seven different authors). Nikki builded whole S.K.A.M plot very beautifully.
'ah I know who's he' 'damn how is this possible' 'arghhhhhh I was wrong he's not who he seems to be' 'AHHHH NOW I KNOW WHO TF IS S.K.A.M. YAYYY' These were my exact reactions while reading lmao 😭😭😭.
WHAT TO EXPECT:
Stalker/Serial Killer British Aristocratic MMC Jealous & Possessive Alpha Poetic/Artistic MMC M/F Romance with Suspense Love/Lust at First Sight He Falls Hard and Fast Slow Burn… until it isn’t Forced Proximity Touch Her and Vigilante Violence Interesting/ Artistically Unique Murder Scenes
Nikki J Summers really delivered with Pride! Even from as early as the foreword, I was utterly enthralled.
**Never underestimate the power of your words. They can inspire. They can destroy. Choose them wisely.**
The twists sure were twisting, the characters relatable and the overall premise was just bloody brilliant. Nikki J Summers not only got the memo— she exceeded it, and magnificently with how she weaved ‘Pride’ in many of its forms through the story with finesse. Seriously though — the rhyming… so deliciously clever. There was some slow burn action, but when the steam started… PHEW! Slow burn isn’t usually something I much appreciate, but it worked so perfectly in this. Honestly the story line is so enthralling you don’t even notice. (Plus the push & pull was pretty delightful)
Full disclosure… I was already a huge fan of the author, the Soldiers of Anarchy books and audiobooks are a staple of mine, but Pride truly is something else— I actually read it twice since receiving, just to make sure it was as good as I originally thought…
It was even better the second time around.
This was so well done… Alex & S.K.A.M kept me on my toes with their intrigue, & Emma— she was so relatable… & completely unimpressed by the situation unfolding and being in Danger.
This book deserves so much more than the allocated 5 stars.
To say I devoured this book as soon as it hit my KU is an understatement, seriously I didn’t want to stop until I got to the end…let’s not discuss that!
I have no concept of where I’d like to start with my review, this storyline just yanks you in and devours you. It’s gripping, intriguing and deadly for those who stand in their way.
Emma’s job or should I say boss leads her into the lions den, on the one hand we have the enigmatic Alex who falls for her instantly though he is in her life, offering safety and protection she is still unsure who to trust. On the other hand we have an artist S3rial k!ller who took an umberance to Emma and now she’s his target. The plot thickens.
Who will save who? Why is Alex protecting the artists’ real identity? Will their secrets lead them to their decline?
Loved this storyline, well written and concise, the twists were great and the spice didn’t overtake the plot. Nikki did a fabulous job on keeping my interest peaked all the way to the end.
This is such a brilliantly gripping and psychologically complex story. I was absolutely hooked. It is rare for me to put the romance to the side. I'm always in it for the happily ever afters. But this book absolutely gripped me. It is a story of a stalker and a man falling in love. The narrative has you guessing and questioning all the time. Are they the same? Are they different people? Where is the line between good/bad?
Emma is caught up in the fallout of her boss writing controversial critiques in her name in the paper. The artist S.K.A.M. is angered. The businessman, Alex, is intrigued and more than a little enamoured. Emma is vulnerable and afraid.
Nikki J Summers never fails to bring a gritty Britishness to her stories. And while this is a slowburn romance with a HEA, it is also a twisted and gripping look at pride and how that can be interpreted by the characters .
"Never underestimate the power of your words. They can inspire. They can destroy. Choose them wisely."
Wow!!! What a wild ride!!! Nikki J. Summers always writes incredible stories, but this time, she got over herself!!! This story was powerful, dark, bloody, mysterious, intriguing, passionate and it grabbed my attention since the very first page!!! It had twists that I never saw coming if I want to be honest here and the plotline was freakin' delicious in a twisted way!!! Poor Emma, she didn't know what hit her here!!!
"She shattered his pride, now she must face the fallout..."
Emma's opportunity is coming in a weird form and setup to become something more in the newspaper that she is working for the past four years. What she wasn't expecting was that at this event, she will meet two guys... One that wants her and the other that wants to end her, because the next day, words not spoken by her had appeared above her name and a touchy artist is after her cause her words had hurt his pride... From that moment, a cat and mouse chase is starting and S.K.A.G. is out for blood... Emma's blood!!! Her only companion in this madness is a man named Alex, an aristocrat, who can save her or hurt her more...
"A stalker And a saviour. A beast And a billionaire. But which one is which?"
I won't tell more about the plotline, but this story was very intense!!! Yes, there was romance in here, but the background 'noise' was too loud to be ignored and too bloody intriguing to not pull you into its madness!!! I loved Alex, even though he was a very confusing guy!!! Yes, he was gentle and protective, but he had secrets!!! S.K.A.G. from the other hand was terrifying, but intriguing at the same time... Honestly, I don't know what I am feeling for him, especially after this epilogue!!! I loved Emma!!! The poor girl!!! She really didn't know what hit her when she got unwillingly in the eye of the storm!!! My poor girl!!!
"He was right. I did feel that spark. But how could I explore something when my world was burning around me?"
Yes, this story is one of the best that I have read by Nikki and imagine that I have loved so many of her stories!!! I love how she is proceeding with her stories... They are not your usual romances!!! They have depth and twists and I liked how she is handling her heroes!!! I also love the artistic brushes that she is pulling on most of her stories!!! I am pretty sure that 'Pride' will stay a long time with me!!! It was that good!!!
This was a piece of art I was going to take my time over. The downfall of Emma Belmont."
**I received an ARC for the exchange of an honest review**
PRIDE is part of the Seven Deadly Sins dark romance world—seven sins. Seven books. Seven deadly games.
Emma thought it was just another work event… until the night ended with a target on her back.
Two men enter her life that night. One is Alex, wealthy, secretive, and dangerously protective. The other, SKAM-disturbed artist turned serial killer who’s made Emma his next obsession… all over words she never even spoke.
Now she’s caught in a deadly game of cat and mouse—where every step could be her last, and every ally might be a traitor. Alex offers protection, but he’s hiding something. And the question that haunts her: is he her salvation… or her biggest threat?
Twisted. Gripping. Paranoia-laced from start to finish. Even the epilogue had me questioning everything I thought I knew.
This wasn’t just a story. It was a thrill ride I barely survived.
Things to know
Stalking, Serial killer, Hanging scene (Chapter Four), Violent murder scenes with details of torture, Home invasions and macabre gifts left behind, Dream sequence of non-consensual sexual activity (Chapter Twenty-One), Sexually explicit scenes, Image of self-harm described in a photograph, but no description of the act itself (Chapter Thirty-Eight), Drugging, Kidnapping/Abduction, Threats of violence and murder, Strangulation, Use of guns, knives, and other weapons, Shooting, Child neglect, Billionaire, Forced Proximity, Slow burn, Touch her & die, Vigilante violence, He falls first and hard
An absolutely thrilling ride, one that took me on an epic journey that had so many twists and turns it kept my on my toes all the way through. I loved it. The suspense, the drama, the intrigue, the passion (romantically and also in life), it all had me hooked. Pride is a sensational story, one which will have you questioning who S.K.A.M. is the whole time. Five stars for the best thriller/romance I’ve read in a long time!
First time reading this author. This was a bit slow for me. I didn't really feel a connection between Emma and Alex at least as much as I thought there should have been. Her boss was a real piece of work and not in a good way. The twist was interesting. I'm hoping there will be a book for...oops. I almost gave it away.
If you want a good mystery/thriller with slow burn spice… Pride is your jam. The way this book had me on the edge trying to figure out who was stalking the FMC… questioning every one and being wrong the whole time. Chefs Kiss!
Summers has delivered what I will venture to say is her best work to date in her adaptation of Pride - one of the Seven Deadly Sins.
This is my best piece of advice for readers - if you typically do not read the Forward, Prologue and/or Epilogue start. I tend to find the most fascinating tidbits that you would totally miss out on by skipping these. It amazed me to find out recently in quite a few FB groups that a lot of people completely skip these!
Summers snagged me from her quote in the Forward:
“Never underestimate the power of your words. They can inspire. They can destroy. Choose them wisely.”
How much more accurate of a statement could be made? This should resonate deeply with everyone who reads it - I mean who hasn’t been hurt by words? Authors face criticism daily by readers, employees by employers, students by teachers and vice versa, etc. So be kind, remember just because something doesn’t resonate inside of you doesn’t mean it doesn’t in someone else. If we were all the same and all felt the same the world would be extremely boring.
Moving on……
While the Forward snagged me, the Prologue truly hooked me and reeled me in with one sentence from the second full paragraph:
“My mind was a warped maze of nightmares and terror that I reveled in.”
I knew, from that one sentence, I was in for a ride with the reading of Pride. Summers creates an intricate and psychologically thrilling love story that is intriguing, horrific, deceitful, manipulative, full of mental strife and of course, murder. You have complex and rich character development from the start with the introduction of the unnamed killer in the Prologue (who won’t take long for you to meet), the relatable and beautiful Emma (FMC), to the enigmatic and sexy Alex (MMC). Supporting characters lack no dedication to development either! Your story line is extremely well developed with smooth transitioning from scene to scene leaving no grey areas to question.
Finally, I cannot leave out the plot twists. I cannot count how many times I was shaking my kindle with frustration because I was POSITIVE that I knew who or what was happening and then boom, twist and turns showed me who was boss - it wasn’t me just for the record. By the end of the story I was completely flabbergasted with the final plot twist only to get slapped upside the head again with the Epilogue saying “hey bish, I ain’t done here.”
So buckle up and get ready for a helluva ride with this one. I am truly curious to see how Summers follows up to this one and if she brings a sequel to Pride or not (or maybe the other books in the series of the Seven Deadly Sins with the collaboration of authors wraps it up - at this point I don’t dare to venture a guess because as with everything else I thought I knew, I would be wrong.)
Thank you to Nikki J Summers and Candi Kane PR for allowing me to ARC for them. As always, all opinions and reviews are of my own volition. I have not been promised any compensation by the author, present or future, for my review.
Kindle Unlimited: Yes Stand-alone: Yes* Part of The Seven Deadly Sin Series Author: Nikki J. Summers Rating: 5/5 ⭐️ Spiciness Rating: 3/5 🌶 POV: First Person Dual Perspective Main Couple: Alex and Emma Trope(s): Dark Suspense Romance, Stalker, Slowburn, Forced Proximity
‘The way this man gave pleasure, like it was his sole purpose in that moment to make me feel as good as he could, made my heart swell even more. I’d never met anyone like him. I could barely string a sentence together, but he took control, standing up and turning my body to face the wall.’
Ummm, I’m not sure there are words for me to describe accurately just how f’ing amazing this book is!? Seriously. I have read quite a few of Nikki’s books and they keep me coming back for more. The storyline, the suspense, the slowburn, did I mention the suspense? I love dark romance, especially with this level of suspense. They always have me feeling like a dirty Nancy Drew wanting to uncover all the clues, know all the things, and wanting to solve a mystery. This book is on from the start and Nikki does not let up on the gas. And, the ending. When I tell you I shot up like a bullet in bed, gasped, and grabbed my comforter for support I am not even exaggerating. Gasped y’all. Alex, Emma, and S.K.A.M gave me a total book hangover like I haven’t had in awhile. Be aware before you dive in, if you are not familiar with Nikki, there are Trigger Warnings. This book is covered in tragedy. I LOVED every second of it.
Emma Belmont has been a PA for the editor at Merivale Echo for four years. Basically being his lackey. Suffering his misogyny and dictatorship ways. At the last minute he throws her into a story featuring an exhibition of eclectic street art at the Berkeley Art Gallery.
She is surrounded by obvious wealth at the exhibition and introduced to a few major players.
The real showcase of the evening is S.K.A.M. and his performance art.
Not impressed with the article she wrote, her boss Mr. Gold takes it upon himself to make some changes. Unfortunately for her, S.K.A.M is not impressed by her article.
She finds herself feeling his ire.
His attention isn’t the only one Emma has attracted.
Alex Kingston, 7th Duke of Sunford. Gorgeous, tattooed, wealthy, and a bit of a renegade. Not to mention a collector of the arts.
He approaches Emma to write a story about all the art.
But, Emma’s life is on fire. A stalker/serial killer seems to have it out for her.
Going into this book, we weren’t really sure what to expect. Would it be MF, MMF, MFM, or a love triangle? Were there four main characters? The setup kept us guessing, but we’re happy with how it all played out. Since we don’t want to spoil anything, we’ll have to keep this review a bit vague.
This story leans darker than what we’re used to from Nikki J. Summers. Not just in terms of themes but in how sinister the atmosphere feels. There’s a constant sense of mystery, and for a long time, we’re left in the dark about what’s really going on. That tension makes the book even more gripping.
The writing flows smoothly, making it an easy book to fly through. But at the same time, it keeps you on the edge of your seat. The biggest question driving the story is: Who is S.K.A.M., the stalker? And what is his connection to Alex, the so-called hero? But can we even trust those labels?
This is one of those books that truly thrives on its twists. It’s best to go in blind—don’t read too many spoilers or details beforehand. The less you know, the more impact the story will have. Every reveal hits harder when you experience it as the characters do.
The pacing works well, with enough twists to keep things unpredictable. Just when we thought we had things figured out, something would shift, making us question everything again. The build-up is slow but intentional, making the reveals even more satisfying.
The ending was strong and left us satisfied. But at the same time, we would have loved to see more about the final revelations and the last sacrifices the character made. A little more detail there would have made it even better.
Overall, this book delivers a mix of suspense, steam, and strong character dynamics. It’s different from Nikki J. Summers’ usual style, but in a way that works. If you’re up for something a little darker with plenty of surprises, this one is worth the read.

This story was a ride... it started off slow and quickly ramped up and did not stop... even the Epilogue 2 left you speechless & questioning. PRIDE was suspenseful, chaotic with so many twists & turns. This kept me on the edge of my seat trying to figure out who S.K.A.M was and why Alex was hiding his Identity. I was blindsided when all is revealed! Definitely cannot wait to see what the other 6 authors bring us in the series!
This book was a brilliant and suspenseful piece of art. It showed so much diversity and depth within Nikki’s writing and I’m still sitting here in awe!
There was REAL poetry and news articles on top of writing a powerful storyline. It was incredible. The darkness within the plot and SKAM along with some of the supporting characters drew you in and layered it with a mystery of who SKAM was and I can honestly say I didn’t see the reveal coming!
Poor Emma has the absolute worst luck, being manipulated, stalked, harassed, and so much more while only one person seemed to care enough to do anything about but he had some sus energy to him as well!
Alex was a dreamy MMC but he held his own kind of mysteriousness throughout that keeps you guessing. A rich, tall, tatted man who was technically a Duke falls for the lowly girl on the totem pole at her newspaper job. I mean of course we love him!
I highlighted so many quotes throughout that were so hard hitting to the soul. I know the mysterious SKAM was an artist but for an author to truly portray that on the level this book brought while adding aspect of horror without overdoing it was what really made this book so special. I loved absolutely everything about this book!
I wrote this review for Saucy Reviews on Kinky Korner. Book one in the Seven Deadly Sins Anthology Series, Pride, is a dark story that takes suspense and mystery to another level and I was totally down for it.
Emma and Alex are the lead characters who instantly feel a strong connection. Their chemistry was off-the-charts hot with sparks igniting as they touched. As the story continued Emma wasn’t sure who she could trust and I felt a lot of empathy for her. She’d survived four years of help in a job going nowhere but being the strong woman she was touched it out. Alex inherited his money but was good with his investments, too.
S. K. A. M was one scary character! He had an amazing artistic ability but was super terrifying. Was it all his fault? I’ll leave that up to readers to decide.
This book was very cleverly written and ticked all of my boxes. Wonderful characters—both good and evil, a carefully crafted storyline that hooked me instantly, lots of interesting drama and action to entertain readers, and an incredible romance. But… that ending was amazing!
The FMC, Emma, ended up in a sticky situation because of her boss and now she’s a serial killer’s next target.
The MMC, Alex, was a possessive alpha male who was intrigued by Emma immediately. S.K.A.M., on the other hand, was a more mysterious character, I tried to guess his identity while reading, but the reveal of who he actually was came as a surprise.
The dual-POV storytelling worked well for the plot and I was equally invested in both the main characters' points of view. The pacing was fast, but never rushed and there was a lot happening. I couldn’t put the book down.
“I knew how to be a gentleman when I wanted to be. But tonight, the beast was coming out to play...” “If we can be something to someone, doesn’t that make everything worthwhile?” “I hated her. I fucking hated that she’d come into our lives and ruined everything.”
Thank you author Nikki J Summers & Candi Kane PR for the ARC! Receiving ARC didn’t affect my opinion of the book and I’m voluntarily leaving a review.
This book was phenomenal and I was blown AWAY with wondering what in the world is going to happen next!
Okay, this book. So you are at an art gallery for an exclusive event. You see this as an opportunity and you meet some famous people and have an amazing time. Nope, the next day it end in utter devastation!
Your boss writes your article for you. He flips it in a terrible way and now you don't know what to do. You have a stalker who is after you and a billionaire who is fighting to keep you.
This book could not been more well written!
There is suspense, drama, passion, pride, and of course a little spice thrown in there to make this book a total hit!
I was blown away and this was quiet the thrilling book with romance in there as well.

Emma works for a newspaper and her dream is to be a journalist so when her boss once again, has her doing his lacky work, it seems she may actually have hit lucky when she sees an enigma of an artist live and catches the attention of Alex Kingston, a stunning and powerful man.
As always, it seems things are too good to be true when her boss writes a piece than completely ridicules the artist and puts her name on it!
Cue the attention of a psychotic artist who wants her gone and will stop at nothing until he takes her last breath as well as Alex, who has become completely besotted with her and has sworn to protect her.
But when is anything straight forward?!...
A good read, kind of a psychologically thriller. Some good twists. 3.5 stars
I really like Nikki J Summers writing so was excited to eventually get around to this starting this series of the 7 deadly sins and it didn't disappoint me one bit! This time we get the story of Emma, Alex, S.K.A.M and Pride! Emma ends up at an exclusive art show to write a article for the newspaper she works for, but she could never imagine just how much that night would change her whole life. Alex is a man that everyone needs in their lives, dark, brooding and willing to move the world for you! Darkness, twists, secrets and above else drama galore, this story manages to keep you wholly invested and flipping those pages from start to end! Can't wait to see what else this series gives us.
If Nikki Summers writes it, I'll read it, and Pride might just be my new favorite from her!
Emma is a young journalist waiting for her big break when her jerk of a boss drags her along to an art event. Here she encounters mega-millionaire Alex and discovers the work of renowned graffiti artist S.K.A.M. Little does she know what's in store for her.
This had some serious thriller vibes with a deranged stalker and then some! I loved the dramatic elements of the story and never knowing who you can trust. This is the first book in a collaborative series featuring the Seven Deadly Sins and if the rest of the books are anything like Pride, we are in for a wild ride!
This story is gripping, exciting, nerve wracking and so damn sexy.
Emma is such a strong heroine. She forced to question her own sanity, never sure of who to trust and yet remains so strong throughout everything that is thrown her way.
I knew from the very first introduction that I would fall in love with Alex Kingston. He is smooth, charming, the perfect gentleman in the streets and a dirty dirty man in the sheets. He is 🥵🔥
Once I thought I had it all figured out, it turns out I knew nothing! The twists and turns, the not knowing who to trust kept me flipping the page and I couldn't read fast enough.
I absolutely love a man that knows exactly what he wants and Alex is definitely that man!
I loved this book right from the start! I read it in one sitting and the mystery of SKAM really keeps you on your toes throughout the whole book, to the very end🫣 Every time i thought i knew who they were, nope, another plot twist 😮💨
Alex and Emma’s story was beautiful, I’m normally not fond of insta love but the way this story is told, you cant help but dive deeper into the plot of it all, absolutely a 5/5 read, cant wait for the rest of this series!
▪️ Holy Smoke what a phenomenal book this was! It kept you on your toes right from the start and really all the way to the end. So go ahead and enjoy if you're like me and LOVE a really good book about stalkers and killers🤌🏼
Love this! Very quick moving, the spice is spicing, and the twists and turns are great! Excited to see where this series goes with the seven deadly sins.
Thank you to Candi Kane PR and Nikki J. Summers for letting me read this ARC for an honest review. The above review is my opinion only.
In the beginning, the male character that I thought would be the main one, seemed rather orgolios than prideful. I am not going to lie Mr Gold had good points and wrote interesting articles about him. The female character is just as dumb as many other female characters. She sleeps in the house of a man she doesn’t know too well and allows herself to be fingered even though she didn’t see by whom. The plot and the action, on the other hand, were good. Just a little rushed. Most of the action and the plot twist happen in the last pages. I am happy that they get their happy ending and I am even happier that Arran didn’t die. Will he get a book? Overall, it’s a good book, as expected from NJS.
The best part of the book was the Isaiah crumb. I wish it was more though. I am desperate for him.
It honestly pains me to rate one of Nikki's books so low because I love her writing, but personally, for me, this book wasn't for me. It started off great, but I just didn't feel the connection between the two main characters at all. It was all very, insta-lovey and corny, and so quickly that it made me question if I'd missed something. In the beginning, Alex was described as a sort of recluse, but he came off as an eager puppy. Immediately, he was ready to protect her and do anything for her. It just felt forced to me. I think there needed to be more of a build-up in the beginning. More interactions for it to all make sense. Maybe this is just a me thing. Read it anyway because my thoughts won't be everyone's 🩶
