We’d won. Morgana was defeated. Her lifeless form lay on the ground, and I dared to hope that it was the end.
But then something even more terrifying emerged.
A god.
Chaos incarnate has been reborn, and she’s crowned herself the new ruler of our world.
We must stop her, but how exactly do you fight against a goddess and win?

I was really hyped up about this series but I think this book fell flat for me. I felt like we built up to this big explosive thing and then the whole battle lasted only a few pages. I would have liked too see more training and more battles. I thought it was funny showing but it focused a lot on that. I think that it felt like Dark was forcing an under 300 page book when it could have easily been more. But I did enjoy a lot of it. I enjoyed the bonds they share and the friendships they have outside of the group. I liked the rebellion element of it. I really liked Zade but felt his introduction was only to lead to another book and another story.
It's not the plotline or the characters. I think my problem is in the writing. On paper, the stakes are high, but there's never any sense of tension. No urgency. No research or searching for answers. Evelyn just seems to level-up every few days by intuition. Aside from the overall conflict, she faces very few obstacles over the course of this book.
The guys were given very few POV scenes, and the ones that were included lasted a page or two, before switching back to Evelyn. They weren't given nearly enough time to shine or assert their personalities.
The romance feels very surface-level as well. The spice was either bland or fade to black. I've grown a little bored with spice lately, so I didn't miss it, but it's still an expected convention of the genre. Strangely, the more important love scenes were FTB, while the open door scenes that were thrown in had little importance to the story or relationships.

I put off reading the trilogy until the final book came out, counting down the days for the release so I could jump in. Chad is the best puppy and made the entire trilogy so enjoyable. I loved the MMCs and how well written their characters were. I couldn’t stand the MFC through majority of the books. I just don’t understand the need to be good to a “friend” that was terrible to you and had basically killed you at some point. As expected I wasn’t a fan of the ending. Her mates should have been her #1 priority and I understand she had to do most of what she did but some of it was excessive. Let Lia die and you deserve a good life. *sigh* The last book had quite a few sections that need to be edited (mostly quotation marks and spacing but I didn’t notice much of anything else). And for personal preference, I wish there were more spicy scenes and that they were more detailed. Don’t get me wrong the plot was pretty good but she has five fated mates, I wanna read all that action 😆. Oh and more of the male POVs too!
Other than that I believe it was a great trilogy and super glad I waited to read it, I would have pulled my hair out at the second cliffhanger 😂 Thank you for the amazing read JC! Excited to check out more of your work. 📖✨

I saw the bad reviews and I said that won’t stop me! I read for fun! 5 days later and I finished this series purely out of spite.
I just wanted more! We barely got any chapters from the guys POV and the relationships were such a mystery. I just felt like the entire series I was somehow always in the dark and not in a good suspense building way but in a frustrating way.
This series wasn’t anything groundbreaking. Addictive? Yes. Good? Debatable.
I did enjoy the characters—even if I couldn’t get over the name Chad (seriously, Chad??). But he ended up being a fun, surprisingly likable character, and I enjoyed his chemistry with Evelyn. Ryker was probably my favorite (I’m a sucker for the big, silent type). Alister also surprised me—he seemed like he’d be the typical brooding vampire but actually became one of my faves. Shy boy Rafe was a sweet addition to the group, though I didn’t feel as connected to him. Lucien, though? Just… no. He wasn’t awful, but he couldn’t even pretend to be happy for five minutes, and I never really vibed with him.
The FMC was your standard overpowered, cocky, “pick me” character. Not bad, but definitely a bit much at times.
One thing I really hate in series like this: when the main character has to give up her power in the end. Like… why? How is that a satisfying arc? You’re telling me we follow her through all this chaos, just to have her hand over everything that made her unique? It’s such a letdown.
And don’t even get me started on Lia. Sure, the FMC talks about how they were once best friends, but we never see that bond. From what I read, Lia was just the girl who stole Evelyn’s powers for years. Why exactly was she worth saving? If it were up to me, she could’ve died. No way she’d walk back into society like nothing happened.
Tbh I was expecting a duet, that it would all be over after the battle with Morgana at the end of book 2. I was happy to be wrong and dived straight into this book.
There was plenty of good comedic content throughout this book. ** Possible Spoiler ** I did think a trick was missed with the combat scenes particularly the repartee between Eris and Evelyn, I mean she’s Eris Goddess of Discord (Discordia in the Roman pantheon), how hard would it have been to throw that into the mix? I understand you say you’re the goddess of discord but what does that really mean? Honestly I feel sorry for you you got the crappy end of the stick with your godly powers. It means that even if you win you’re going to find a way to mess it all up. Ask your head flunky - my mate’s father, what he really thinks about women? He isn’t following you, he’s trying to do just enough to make sure he doesn’t get caught. You’re the goddess of moody teenagers and a$$holes! (#sorrynotsorry)
OK so I might have got carried away there. If you’ve read the first two books then you’ll want to read this one too to wrap it all up.
Third and final book in the trilogy, pacing was a little slow for me and could have been a little better. I also didn’t like Lucien that much, felt like he wasn’t too involved or bothered with the relationship. He needed more, felt like he wasn’t into Eve that much to be in the harem. Loved the other mmcs.
“I caught our reflection in the mirror and nodded to him. “We make a pretty good team, don’t we?” Rafe’s shy smile made my heart flutter. “We do.”
“Alister’s smile widened. “That means we can have babies now.” <333 I love them.
“He didn’t say anything, but how he looked at me—like I was the center of his world—said everything.”
“You were the first person I truly felt safe with.” !!!!
“I opened my eyes, meeting her gaze. “You wanted chaos?” I said, my voice resonating with power. “Let me show you chaos.” !!!!!!!!
I struggled to connect as much to the conclusion of this story. It wasn't about the book or the writing so much as an inability to relate to Evelyn's self sacrificing nature, especially to save Lia. It doesn't make sense to sacrifice life and her mates to save Lia. I thought the battle scene was well written though. There's a good mix of open and closed door scenes, but she does get more on page intimate scenes with some mates while only one scene with Alister, Rafe, and Lucien. also, the beginning of this book basically gave me a heart attack after the cliffhanger.
Fated for Dawn by J.C. Dark is the third and final book in the Arcanum Academy series. This was by far my favorite book out of the three. I loved the story line, it was fabulous! I wish we would have gotten to know the characters better in book one, because if we would have, it would have made this book that much better. I love Chad, he is much needed humor in the dark world they are living in. Rafe is my second favorite, he is just so innocent, and I love him for it. I feel like some of the guys received a lot more page time than others. I would have liked to get to know Ryker better, he seems like he would have a great story. Overall, the plot and spice was great.
This series showed so much promise. I probably should have stopped after book two. This last one disappointed me. The final chapters turned into a predictable battle for good and evil with nothing unique or creative about it. I actually stopped several months ago and revisited it. I re read books one and two with the same relish, then suddenly realized why I never finished this one. Bonds are made, sacrifices are made, characters die and are brought back to life. The concept that most of the evil characters were really spelled took away from the depth of the plot. But well written and correctly punctuated.
I think that this one was my least favourite of the series. It just didn't feel like there was much build up- it just went training and sex then abrupt fight, repeat. They felt much more reactive than actually planning anything. There were also no repercussions for this massive battle, no big losses so it didn't really feel like anything was at stake. I do appreciate the depth given to Lia, but not enough to read her own book series.
loved absolutely every second of this series. panicked the most during the final battle but love love love the love that the boys had for her and that they were willing to give up so much to get her back. excited for lia's book as the little snippet at the end was interesting. would forever recommend this read :)

Had a hard time with this one. It got really boring as the series progressed and had things all over the place with the supernatural community, which made the worldbuilding laking for me. In the beginning I liked it, it seemed fun, but the author's promisse of darkness and no sunshine was just not there it was all so bland for me. Still I would read the next thing this author writes
At 48% of the book I lost interest. Like the bad guy is the good guy but oh no she was brainwashed poor her. I would not be able to forgive her or her other 'best friend' for what they did in her previous life. There is just too much I can't get over so I give up
On to the next...

I enjoyed the series a lot and I will probably read more from this author, but the characters were not very deep. I’m not sure what exactly was missing, but I couldn’t give that fifth star.
Ehhh....this had all the things but...it somehow I was not emotionally invested. The book lacked the tension to bring it all together and feel real. Maybe it's one of those "show not tell" situations.
Absolutely loved this series! It had a bit of everything.. Action, adventure, and romance. I'm really going to miss these characters. Highly recommend this story! But I'm really not a fan of Lia at all, I felt like Evelyn put too much time, and care toward someone who was absolutely not worth it. I'm not sure I want to read her story.
I felt this serious seemed to drag on a little bit. I did however kept reading it. I felt the ending was pretty rushed especially the last fight scene. It just felt like it was over before it started. That whole build up for what. 🤷♀️.
