Will Keira and Kai defy the forces that seek to tear them apart, or will the rainforest claim its own?
I thoroughly enjoyed Legend of the Jaguar Queen. The setting immediately drew me in, and I loved following Keira’s journey as she grew into her strength throughout the story. The romance was a satisfying slow burn, the MMC had wonderful golden retriever energy, and the adventure kept the pages turning. Add in a plot twist I genuinely didn’t see coming, and I’m already looking forward to the sequel.
I loved this read! I did speed read it in like less than 24 hours lmao. Easy read, solid spice, and the humor was perfectly timed. The suspenseful moments had me on the literally edge of my seat. I can’t wait to see what comes next. (Plus the bonus chapter was 10/10).
Legend of the Jaguar is a strong, intriguing start that blends supernatural elements with emotional depth in a way that keeps you turning the pages.
One of the standout aspects is the world-building. The story introduces a layered, immersive setting filled with shifting power dynamics and supernatural intrigue, and it’s clear there’s a much bigger story unfolding beneath the surface. The atmosphere feels rich and intentional, and you can tell this is just the beginning of something larger.
If you enjoy fantasy with strong atmosphere, layered characters, and a slow-building story, this is definitely worth picking up
Legend of the Jaguar Queen tells the story of Keira, in Brazil on a work trip, who gets kidnapped and then rescued by an uncontacted group in the Amazon. There she begins to fall for Kai, son of the chief, yet Kai's brother Okoi is not happy about the situation and has his own plans... This is a fun, fast-paced jungle adventure that often takes unpredictable turns.
In some places, there are editing mistakes and there is a bit too much "telling," but this didn't really take me out of the story.
Keira’s job and her boss are reminiscent of The Devil Wears Prada, but in her story, there’s a fantasy twist. After her boss steals her work, Keira thinks things can’t get worse, but they can and do, because she’s abducted on a work trip overseas.
Her only hope for surviving the jungle is the tribe that rescues her…and Kai. But theirs is not a simple girl meets guy romance. Kai, the chief’s son, must choose between his tribe and Keira.
As a character, Keira is admirable. She’s a fighter. She’s resourceful and thoughtful. She isn’t willing to take any crap from anyone. Though she’s in a terrible situation, she is willing to learn how to communicate and willingly accepts the customs of her rescuers.
Keira and Kai get to know each other and subsequently find love in the most unexpected of places. Legend of the Jaguar Queen turns out to a be lovely, poignant exploration between two people from different worlds and a wild adventure.
Where to begin! I absolutely LOVED this book! I simply couldn't put it down!
Honestly I think this was a super easy read! The spice is delicious, I think the character development is great! The dual pov is fantastic and I love that the story isn't one dimensional their are sub plots and different characters that face their own challenges along with the main characters.
I like how Keira finds her self through having to lose everything she thought she knew about herself. Which was pretty cool!
This story also touches upon some real topics like betrayal, loss & grief (their is a disclaimer warning in the beginning of the book)
Overall I loved this book and even though it might not be perfect for some, it was perfect for me!
For someone who isn't much into romance, this book was pretty good. The spice scenes weren't anything crazy, which I appreciated, but they would definitely be enough to get the romance girlies kicking and screaming. What I liked the most was the setting. Today, all the romance books are either urban settings or some kind of medieval fantasy setting, which is fine, but it's nice to see something different. In case you couldn't tell, this is a jungle/native setting, which is pretty unique. The story is also pretty decent and when combined with the setting, it makes a good book. Honestly, it reminds me of some historical webtoons/manhwa, but again in a jungle setting.
In Legend of the Jaguar Queen, the reader is thrust into a nightmare-turned-dream of a love story between young kidnapped Kiera and mysterious Kai, a warrior destined for greatness, who comes to her rescue after a savage attack. This story hits the ground running, and never slows for a moment!! I loved the cultural influences and the jungle setting. I don’t want to give too many spoilers, but there are definitely some heated scenes that were incredibly satisfying and worked well with the plot as the MCs love story developed. Loved it
This adventure was an easy read and I finished it quickly once I got into the story. Keira has to navigate multiple traumatic events quickly and determine, which one is worse, and which one she can survive.
I enjoyed the dual POV but I do prefer chapter changes to help understands whose perspective I was reading but it only slightly distracted me.
The way this book ended, I was on the edge of my seat and I can’t wait for the next book.
I didn’t know what to expect from this title and honestly it was a great read!
I loved the characters, the story, the passion in which they were written. This is a book that makes you feel everything, love, passion, anger, sadness and frustration for not knowing what’s happening next.
I fell in love with the story and couldn’t put the book down until I finished. I know this is the first book of the series and I can’t wait to read the next one!! Loved the bonus chapter!
Legend of the Jaguar Queen: After the Rain provides a blend of romance and danger. It's set in an untamed rainforest, where Keira’s mistaken identity leads to her abduction and unexpected rescue by an isolated tribe. As she navigates unfamiliar customs, Keira is pulled between the safety of her former life and a growing connection with Kai. Kai is torn between duty and an attraction that challenges everything he’s been taught. This is a quick read once you get into the story.
As a huge Tarzan fan, I really enjoyed this modern romance with similar vibes. This is a fun, fast read. The characters are really engaging. I absolutely loved Kai and the village. I especially liked how integral the miscommunication trope was to this story. This is how to do that trope well. Time for me to go get lost in the jungle and find my own Tarzan.
The Legend of the Jaguar Queen: After the Rain by Emma Kae is a beautifully atmospheric read with scenes that take you by storm. Kae crafts a world that feels both wild and intimate, where myth and emotion intertwine in an heartfelt story. I enjoyed the Keira's resilience and Kai's journey to choose between desire and duty. I look forward to read more from this debut author!
LOVE THIS BOOK!!!!!! Such a uniquely plotted and thought-out romance. Kai and Keira? Absolutely loved those two together. Kai is a good leader, and Keira is so strong. A tribe in the Amazon rescues Keira, and she struggles to be accepted. I recommend this read! Other than some spelling and editing errors, the story is wonderful. The ending is not what you expect and it has great spice!!
This was brilliant. I was sucked in straight away. I was captivated by the dreams Keira was having of this man with green eyes. The story was paced just right, with plenty of spice as the story unfolded. The dynamics of the setting, the scenes, and the characters had me wanting and needing more. Really fantastic read!
This book was was really good I enjoyed it thoroughly! Their was a bit of everything in it! Action, suspense, Humor and of course Romance. The spice was great! Looking forward to seeing what happens next on Keira and Kai's journey!
I loved this. The scenery descriptions was bang on. I loved the concept of the story. The characters, how they grew. The love story and the twists and threats. It was such a great read.
Emma tells a riveting tale about a girl whos thrown into the unknown and ends up finding love in an unexpected place while she tries to find her way home and also navigate her heart their are forces trying to keep them apart.
I think Emma has a refreshing take on a what is a common romance theme. I love that it's set in the jungle somthing unique, I love the fact that their is cultural differences and that they need to learn to communicate and understand and accept each other's ways of life.
I feel like their is alot of depth to the story (with out adding spoilers) their are alot of topics that are touched on and I think Emma did a good job in depicting them.
I'm excited to find out what happens next especially after reading the BONUS CHAPTER she added at the end of the book!!!
Legend of the Jaguar Queen is full of suspense and danger - life and death battles at every turn. I loved the female empowerment throughout the book. Keira was the anti-damsel in distress. Throughout the story, she's the one who makes a difference between success and failure. When attacked, she is a woman who can hold her own. I also appreciated how the men throughout the story, with the exception of the villain, treated her skills as a trait that made her more beneficial to the community. The fated mates component added passion and complexity to the story. The connection between the two had a bit of magical realism, making their love even more intense. Ending on a cliffhanger, I look forward to finding out how the jaguar queen will reunite with her king.
The Legend of the Jaguar Queen: After the Rain by Emma Kae is a great book filled with twists and turns, suspense and even supernatural evrnts. Keira is a very intricate character and it is a very interesting story. Her adventures are quite unexpected and the bonus chapter really leaves you wanting more. I think it is a good read for people who like original locations and an interesting FMC. I'll be waiting for the next book.
