Logan’s obsession with vampires started the night he was bitten by a fiery haired fanged temptress behind a club. Now, seven years later, his desperate need to find her has stripped his life to its bare bones.
Evangeline spends her nights draining the local wildlife of their blood. She had made a promise to herself that she would never feed from a human after witnessing the downfall of her Maker. The incessant gnawing hunger had been manageable right up until she caught the scent of one particular bruised and broken man. But why him?
What was it about him that made her fangs ache with want? Something was clearly drawing them together. Surely a little taste can’t be so bad?

Damn... This book was such a rollercoaster of emotions! The author is straightforward and witty, and I loved her writing style. I was hooked on the story and just wanted to read more. The world of the vampires in this book was simple to follow and the plot was kinda unique. Two broken souls finding solace through unconventional means.
This was a short, passion filled story and I'm eager to read more from the author.
An enjoyable vampire romance with well-written flawed characters and an intriguing storyline with lots of "bite" and spice. Loved Logan, and the whole gritty fight club angle, really well done; and Evangeline was an interesting mix of ethereal and practical. I look forward to seeing where the author takes the story next.

This book brought to mind the movies Fight Club and Only Lovers Left Alive while reading (a strange combo I know). Logan is actually in a fight club because he gets off on the pain. It's safe to assume it's because of his one encounter with Meredith, that has since left him wanting. Evangeline is Meredith's protege who is drawn to Logan and they quickly establish a weird human/ vampire relationship. The vibes of this book were dark and insanely gritty but also there was this longing and need to be loved/ belong... idk how to describe it. The ending works if I'm to be fully honest. Logan and Evangeline's future is unknown so it only makes sense that the book ends that way.

This book was beautiful. And sad. And so much more than it sounded like it was going to be. Yes, it’s a vampire love story, but it’s more than that.
We have two lonely protagonists, both who really don’t know how to live in the world anymore after they have an encounter with the vampire Meredith. One of them is left as a vampire, while the other is left with a destroyed life. Until they meet each other.
It really is a beautiful story about love, accepting one’s self and others, and what it means to live.
It was spicy yet beautiful, making the perfect story. Its short with only 142 pages, and has dual POV.
I’m really excited for the story to continue in the next book.
Rounded up from 4.5 stars.
Thank you so much to BookSirens and Jules Campbell for an ARC of this book.
Logan has been trying to stalk Meredith. Meredith is a red-headed vampire, who Logan had sex with a long time ago. He has a whole room dedicated to her. When he Evangeline he was determined to meet with her again. Logan went and had no hold barred fighting. When he was bleeding is when Evangeline shows up. They figure out that Meredith made Evangeline and Blood must call to blood.
Blood Calls to Blood is a contemporary paranormal romance where a young man named Logan has his life consumed by his obsession with finding the fiery-haired vampire who bit him seven years ago, stripping everything else about his existence away. Evangeline, a vampire who vowed never to feed from humans, struggles to resist the intense pull she feels towards Logan upon meeting him one faithful night, a bruised and broken man who ignites her darkest cravings. As their paths collide, they must confront the undeniable force drawing them together, unraveling the mystery of their connection.
As for the main characters, I found Logan to be well-developed and genuinely intriguing. He’s definitely got his issues, but there's something endearing about him. There's something oddly charming about how vulnerable and hopeless he is. It's endearing in a way that makes you root for him, kind of like a sad puppy. The way his backstory unfolds makes sense as the plot progresses, though I have to admit, his introduction was pretty shocking. The book kicks off with a bang—intense and sexual at the get go, but it portrays the obsession of a broken, sick man well.
Evangeline, on the other hand, felt less developed as a character. While her mysterious aura could hint at a deeper backstory, which might be explored in future books, it left me feeling disconnected. The mystery around her was overdone to the point where I found it hard to care about her or want to learn more. The only thing that kept me interested was her connection with Logan and the question of why they are drawn to each other. Because of her lack of development though, her chemistry with Logan felt off.
The writing style didn't fully draw me in, and the frequent typos were a bit distracting. The pacing is fast and very hot n' heavy, with plenty of steamy moments, so if you're looking for a slow-burn romance with lots of pining, this one may not deliver on that front.
Additionally, the romance dominates the plot, pushing the mystery of their connection to the background. For me, this weakened the story. The buildup to why they’re connected felt anticlimactic, to the point where removing the mystery entirely wouldn’t have made much difference. In fact, if the story had just been about them falling in love without any explanation, it might have flowed better.
While worldbuilding isn’t typically a focus in contemporary stories, it would have been great to learn more about how vampires fit into this modern world. Understanding their roles and way of life could have added depth to the story and enriched Evangeline’s character as well.
I thought the sex scenes were great save for a couple choice words that made things awkward. Be wary of the content warnings for this book as well for the sex scenes as it may not be to everyone's liking. To me, it did match the themes of many vampire erotica, so I was cool with it and loved it!
Overall, Blood Calls to Blood offers a fast-paced, steamy read that will appeal to fans of paranormal romance with a heavy focus on obsession and desire. The character development, chemistry and mystery left something to be desired, particularly with Evangeline, but if you’re looking for a quick, heated romance with some vampire intrigue, this book could be worth checking out for you. It unfortunately wasn't for me.

🇺🇸Blood Calls to Blood by Jules Campbell left me feeling a bit underwhelmed. I went into it expecting a spicier and dirtier story, but it didn’t quite deliver in that department (or maybe I'm just desensitized. While I was hoping for more heat, the romance and chemistry didn’t have the intensity I was anticipating.
Additionally, I was surprised to discover that this novella isn’t a standalone. It ends on a cliffhanger, which caught me off guard and left me feeling a bit meh about the whole experience. I was hoping for a satisfying, self-contained story, so it was a bit disappointing to realize there’s more to come, especially when the book didn't fully hook me.

This book had a vibe I can't quite express in words. In a positive way! It has some kind of raw energy, I guess? Whatever it was, it made me really like this book. The vibe felt unique, not like most other vampire romance books I read the last few years.
If you are into vampires, maybe have a look at this book. I loved following Logan through this journey, I liked reading how Evangeline went through her life, and I can't wait to see what will happen next to them.
I got this book as an arc and left my thoughts 100% voluntarily. I had a really good time reading this.

This story had an interesting lot that became more intriguing as the pages progressed. It held an air of mystery that was not revealed too quickly, but at just the right pace. It was not the easiest to read sometimes though, especially in a few of the male main character's chapters. The flow of reading was halted by a sudden change in the middle of a paragraph, causing me to have to re-read that paragraph to make sense of where the story was at now. Some parts also had random scene changes in the middle of a paragraph, which made for a choppy, confusing read of that page. As the story progressed it became less forced, smoother, and easier to follow along with to the point where I could read faster and still know where I was at in the story. In the future though I would try to make the paragraphs read smoother instead of feeling so choppy. The usage of similes did help me visualize what was happening so much better and helped make up for the choppier read towards the beginning and middle of the book.
The location in the beginning of the book was unexpected but in a good way. It ended up being a huge part of the book and interactions between the main characters, which I thoroughly enjoyed. I was surprised, actually, that they go to this location often and how their thoughts changed about this place near the end of the story.
Something I thoroughly enjoyed throughout this book was how one of the main characters felt like they weren't really living, just getting through life. It evoked feelings of sympathy at first which then just turned into pity and a little bit of disgust towards the end. Well done with portraying their lifestyle and feelings as the story progressed.
The other main character had an interesting backstory revealed through scenes that held multiple purposes: to introduce them at the beginning, introduce other characters important to their past and present day, and to show how a vampire reacts in certain situations. Learning about how vampires think, look, act, etc compared to humans in this story caught my interest because they weren't just blandly stated in one paragraph, but were gradually introduced with more sprinkled throughout the chapters. I appreciated not having an information dump about vampires in just one section of the book.
Overall, I enjoyed reading this story! The beginning and middle were sometimes difficult to get through, with odd skips in the middle of paragraphs and choppy transitions, but the flow became better towards the end. The characters' backstories and feelings caught and kept my attention, and having information gradually revealed versus dumped in one page was very appreciated.

I really really wanted to like this book but it just felt so underdeveloped to me.
This follows the story of Logan, a man obsessed with a Vampire he met years ago, and Evangeline, the prodigy of the same vampire finding each other at low points in their lives- but that's literally the whole story. I know this is novella, and to be continued, but there was no real story because this was simply so short and should there have been another 100 pages just to flesh out and give us some kind of connection to the characters then maybe this would have been a higher rating for me. The spice was great, but that is as far as their relationship goes.
This novella also had quite a lot of errors (I understand this is an ARC and these things may be changed before publishing, but it made the book difficult to read at some points) such as Evangeline is wearing a yellow dress and is taking off logans sweatpants, but the error was that Evangeline was taking of HER sweatpants where it should have said HIS sweatpants and this is just one of many lines that made me go back and re read to try to keep up with what was happening.
I also felt that there were odd time jumps that just didn't flow very well in this - one paragraph we would be talking about one then, then the next its a completely different day and setting rather than being a new chapter which again, i had to go back and reread the paragraph prior to make sure I hadn't missed anything and honestly felt at times like I was reading something from AI.
This definitely has the potential to be a great story with some editing and additional character development, and this is absolutely a great one-sitting read.

Okay, so I'm not really sure how to feel about this book. I've been battling between 3 stars and 4 stars.
It was by no means disappointing, but I guess it just lacked some depth in some parts. I also got confused a few times about who was speaking with who, which, if you've read some of my other reviews, is an issue of mine to sometimes follow who is speaking. It's not necessarily the author's fault, but I do wish it was a bit clearer about who was speaking or who was having the thoughts.
The story is basically set around two characters: a vampire and a human. The one thing they have in common? a vampire named Meredith. I really loved how the author was able to take two different characters and turn them into two people who were both changed and affected by Meredith and were able to find similarities within each other.
The book dedication got me excited to read this book, but also slightly led me astray. Our MMC was made to believe that he is just super obsessed with our MFC, which there were parts where like yeah he was, BUT being a dark romance reader, the obsession, yearning, and need for the MFC just fell flat FOR ME. If you are looking for a possible introduction to the darker reads of the book world, this book could be a good starting point so you can be slowly introduced and become comfortable with books with a darker aspect.
The book kinda went back and forth with the depth of the characters, that's why I'm struggling with this review, At some points the author did a fantastic job going into details, descriptions, and character development, and other times it felt slightly rushed, or maybe not as thought out. But with all this being said, I finished it within a day, it kept my attention, and I didn't feel like it was a waste of time.
So if you have made it this far into my rambling, I do believe I'll give it a 3.5 rating, but I'll round it up to 4 stars on the apps and review websites.
If you're looking for a gory lustful short story about vampires these books are for you.

— REVIEW —
The relationship between Logan and Evangeline is overall carried by lust and attraction more than romance so far, but I do see more romance coming in the future books.
I was curious about this book after finding out that she's the vampire and he's the needy human that wants to be bitten (hello??? absolutely yes??)
The lore of vampires is exactly what would you expect: they need blood to survive, they can be turned into vampires by the blood of other vampires, they die in the sun, human blood is better than vampire blood, feeding is correlated to pleasure and sex, ect. A piece of lore that is not so common was the fact that *spoilers ig??* Evangeline and Logan were attraced to each other because both are somewhat connected to Meredith, another vampire. I do enjoy any type of vampire content so I don't really mind the "overused" vampire traits.
I really enjoyed this short book, I'm looking forward for the sequel.
BTW, this book is currently free of Kindle Unlimited!

Jules Campbell's 'Blood Calls to Blood' lays the foundation for an exciting vampire romance series with all the right elements. Logan and Evangeline are deeply relatable, with vulnerabilities and desires that make it easy to empathise with their struggles. Logan’s obsessive search for closure and Evangeline’s inner battle with her nature create a dynamic that feels genuine and emotionally compelling.
The pacing is perfect for its novella length, offering just enough detail to immerse readers while avoiding unnecessary fluff. The spice level is well-executed, with scenes that are tasteful yet passionate—earning a confident 3/5 on the heat scale. The intimacy is written with care, making it enjoyable even for readers who are selective about romantic content.
The story’s dark undertones and evocative writing suggest this series has significant potential for growth. With strong characters and a compelling premise, I’m excited to see how Logan and Evangeline’s journey unfolds in future installments. This is a great start, and I’m eager for more!~
Most paranormal books are action driven but this one is all about inner turmoil. Logan is a man feverishly obsessed and the only cure is to find the source of his pain. The writing really conveyed his desperation and I was impressed with that and needed to know if he'd find a way past it. I enjoyed watching Logan grow, heal, and change through his time with Evangeline. Evangeline herself is a bit more of an enigma, but her curiosity and desire to understand Logan and the connection they have is palpable. That the woman is the vampire and the man is the sub were a nice change from the usual and I thought it was well done.
The reason I rated this 4 stars instead of 5 is I felt like the couple needed more quality interactions to build their relationship beyond sex. If there had been a deeper connection on a cerebral level rather than just on a physical one I would have rated it higher.

I’ve been trying to get into reading more vampire romance books (paranormal romance) so this was a good book to add to that goal. Overall, the book was short, but it did leave much to mention. The transitions between scenes within the chapters wasn’t the best but it wasn’t the worse. The MMC Logan, is definitely interesting and really hope becomes more into himself. Gain some confidence and take better care of himself. The FMC, Evangeline is definitely one to look at. There is more character development that can happen with her and this book barely touches the surface of her, but this is also just the first book in a series. It will be interesting to see how the next book develops, because it didn’t really end at the end of the first book. Looking forward to more character development and maybe a shocking plot would be nice.

You had me at VAMPIRE 🩸 Logan the mmc is trying to navigate life after being aware of vampires. As I think any of us would be trying to figure out how to carry on as a human knowing this. While our fmc Evangeline is picking up the pieces of her maker and surviving. When their paths cross the connection is undeniable along with the sexual tension. The spice is 🌶️ 🌶️🌶️🌶️/5.
I enjoyed this arc read as it was slightly different from my previous read and was quite refreshing. This is a good novella which is part of a series to be continued. If you love vampires, spice with a dash of sadness this is definitely calling your name.

This is an ARC book I got for free and that was sent to me for review. I read it with enthusiasm but there needs to be better editing done, as I’ve caught a lot of mistakes in it. I can send pictures of everything I found. I almost feel like this was more of an Alpha read to me. I enjoyed this story but couldn’t get past the errors hence why I am only giving it a 3 star review. I did like the story; so, kudos to the author! At one point it was talking about his sweatpants but it says, “her sweatpants.” I am not sure if this is an indie author who doesn’t have an editor or not. The plot kept my attention and it is a great read. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I was gifted this as an e copy ARC. I want to thank this author for this opportunity to read and review. My review is a bit late due to family circumstances, but I finished this on Dec 17. My thoughts and opinions are my own.
Some might know this, but Vampire stories are my absolute favorite. I could not pass up this opportunity to grab a copy of this book by the title alone. This story did not disappoint. In order to keep my review from giving spoilers, I will leave it at do not hesitate to grab this for yourself. You will not be disappointed. It's a different pace than some, but I loved having the roles in reverse for once.
Go grab this book and add it to your 2025 reading goal!
Tho a bit choppy at times Blood calls to Blood is well written and intriguing. We have read about the "vampire obsessed" in the past, however I liked the fresh spin Jules Campbell put on it. With a fight club, spice and tension this was a really fun and quick read. I will say there are a lot of twists that fall flat, a lot of things go unanswered and this could be on purpose as there may be a book 2 that will fill in the blanks, but for now the "missing" things kind of make you feel like you skipped a page or two. Absolutely recommend if you are looking for a palate cleanser and need something quick to keep you entertained for a bit.
I finally got to read this book, what an unexpected treat! I love the idea of a guy being so distraught and needing the “high” of the pain from an encounter with a vampire that he joins a fight club. Juxtaposed with his awkward self, especially when around Evangeline, is really funny. I adore Evangeline’s character. She seems afraid to get close to Logan, hesitant to allow herself to really grow attached to him. And that scene where she saves the woman being followed by guys? We love to see a woman helping another ❤️ My only complaint was this book was too short! I needed more, and I want to read the other book ASAP!
Blood Calls to Blood is mythical moody and has a good bit of spice. The author does a wonderful job of bringing the dark and mysterious vampire lore to life. Very intrigued by the fmc Evangeline just like the mmc, Logan. Logan is trying to find a way to exist with the knowledge of vampires. Like Logan we need more information. This is a start of a series I believe so we are left on a cliffhanger. Definitely leaves you wanting more. I received this as an arc. My review is solely mine and received no compensation for it.
Disclaimer: I received this book for free from Booksirens in exchange for my honest and voluntary review.
Such a great read for October ! This book was so steamy and exactly what I needed for Halloween. Logan and Evangeline have AMAZING chemistry! And both of their storylines were so interesting - I wasn’t expecting their backstories to be so sad though! This novella is not a standalone which I was happy to hear because the book ends on a huge cliffhanger! Can’t wait to read more! This was the perfect quick if you are looking for something spicy and spooky for the Fall season
Blood Calls to Blood was an intense and heavy read in the best way possible, Logan and Evangeline were complex fully fleshed-out characters and every interaction they had felt appropriately weighted. Some of the scenes were so graphic that I had a visible reaction but it worked so well for the book, as the reader you're supposed to be feeling strongly about Logan's desires and Evangeline's hunger. The two of them come together in a chaotic sexy mess that's tinged with unmistakeable danger. I'm beyond looking forward to what comes next.
One of them is a vampire, the other is left in a rubbish place. That is, until they meet each other.
This book is a novella, short and sweet , and ended on a cliffhanger pointing to it being a part of a series! The cliff hanger completely caught me off guard. I feel this book was a little slow for the build-up of the spiciness. While there was a bit of spice, I didn't find it spicy. The chemistry wasn't quite right. This book will surely have you feel like you on a roller coaster of emotions! So buckle on up!
I enjoyed this story immensely. Two hearts connected by blood in a very primal way.
I cannot call Logan the hero of the story, he feels more like an anti-hero. He lives like a shadow of the man he used to be after a onetime experience with a vampire. Mixing pleasure with pain from thereon. Untill he meets her, Evangeline, turned by the very vampire he met. She devours him, heart and soul.
I received an arc and am leiving this review voluntarily.
The novella is a good start to a series, but I wanted more. It fell a bit short with keeping me totally interested in where the story was going. It is a beautiful story on love, but I wanted more. The spice was good, but the chem between Evangeline and Logan wasn't fully there. Again, I did enjoy it, but I will say I went into this book thinking it was going to be something different.
This is an interesting story about a Vampire romance. The characters are all very different and well-developed. The pacing and dialogue is spot on. I enjoyed the story and characters. The spice level is a little more than I expected but it felt right for the story. I recommend this for anyone looking for an original, steamy romance.

Thank you for the opportunity of being an ARC reader!!
I was definitely surprised when I started reading, as the immediate spice wasn’t what I was expecting. I so hope we get to learn more about Meredith and Evangeline!
I think it would’ve been a 5 star if there was more story/plot. I’m hooked on the story and wanted more.
Overall would recommend to fans of vampire romance, dark romance, or smut readers!!

ARC Review- Overall, this book brought some interesting ideas together. A vampire FMC, a submissive MMC, and fight club. I thought the book was good but couldn’t bring myself to like the MMC as he was insecure. I also felt the book was a little hard to follow and had a few spelling mistakes. But it was a fun and quick little read!
