Dog Lover who likes her pastries full of cream and sugar...oh...and I write some ;-)

Aside from being an author, I am also a mom to a beautiful little girl. I tell everyone I named her after my great-grandmother (because that's the mature answer), but really, I named her after my favorite princess - just so happens I got lucky and they had the same name...If I wasn't a writer, I would work on a horse ranch - I'm an animal lover (in addition to dogs, horses are at the top of my list). I wear flip-flops pretty much everywhere I go. I would rather stay awake until 5 am than get up at 5 am (years of bar tending have left their mark), if I can, I'm going to the beach AND I will always be nice to people who bring me chocolate...or coffee...if you bring me both, I'll probably love you forever.

I write the way I live, following the story wherever it may lead, always ready to start the next one. This is clearly reflected in my body of work which to date includes everything from Children's Lit to Thrillers.
I happily reside in sunny Florida (for now) with my daughter and three dogs.

This is more personal preference really then anything else, though there is technical issues as well.

It's just so bland in comparison to everything else I've read. It very much felt like a knock-off Hawaii Five-O. It was set on Hawaii, with a crazy reckless semi-native haole detective partnered with a more by-the-book recently moved to Hawaii haole detective. The main character is female and a pirate and a famous writer (which how exactly can you do both?), giving a twist to the story but honestly not much. The writing is rough and could have used some editing. Character names are repeated way too many times in the same paragraph and it's very choppy. Salty went on the deck. Salty looked out at the sea. Things like that.

Overall, I wouldn't have even skimmed this if it weren't for the fact I need it for my popsugar challenge for 2019.

i was supposed to review this book like since a month ago, but im so late, so sorry >< okay, anyway, this book is about a girl named Salty (for real. isnt that cute as hell?) who was raised by pirates. i so totally like her because she's unique, unlike any other heroines i've ever read about. and i find it fascinating how she's both a (technically) pirate and an author. author of bestselling books. which is really cool. okay anyway, back to the book. basically the summary is that (copying this from Goodreads): Tritonia 'Salty' Casavant has spent her entire life out at sea on her parents’ sailboat. Raised by a marine biologist and her mother’s extended family of modern day pirates, her perception of the world isn’t exactly normal. Now a single mother herself and living once again on the boat her parents left her, she enjoys her private paradise as she cruises back and forth between the Islands of Hawaii. Everything changes when a local gang begins using her strip of ocean as a dumping ground for smuggled drugs and firearms. Soon Salty is in the middle of an all-out turf war she inadvertently started and the only way out is through Detective Finn Murphy.
firstly, what i loved about this book is the way the story flows. you see, some books give out way too much information that one will have trouble processing. but what i love about this book is that it gives you information, but little by little. i dont know if that makes sense to you, but yeah. HEHE. anyway, yes i loved Salty. she is my ultimate kick-ass heroine now. And then there's Finn Murphy. i love how the author first introduce him as being (Spoiler alert maybe?) shorter than his partner. so naturally i was like "NAHHH, this guy couldnt really be that good considering the fact that he's not tall" yknow, tall, dark and handsome? HAHA. so yeah, this story will actually make you grip the edge of your chair, because you'll be so interested in what happens next, but scared too. and since this is the second book i actually read from K. S. Thomas, i have to say, she is one good author :)

SALTY K.S. THOMAS
A riveting suspense story of modern day pirates caught up in a turf war over the waters surrounding Hawaii. This story features Salty an independent no nonsense Siren fighting to keep her daughter safe while keeping a secret safe from rival gangs.
Once again Ms. Thomas has treated us to suspense and witty dialogue and a little romance. I thought SALTY was well written and contained all of the flair of the authors other books.
This is definitely a five star read for all romantic suspense fans.

Set in the tropical paradise of Hawaii "Salty" is a fast moving tale of a young single-mom with the blood of pirates in her veins. When a gang involved in illegal drug activity invade her home waters Salty must safely navigate between traditional and modern Hawaiian cultures to save herself and her daughter.

What could go wrong when a lawman named Murphy steps in to help. "Salty" by K.S. Thomas is a fun read and highly recommended!

Salty by K.S. Thomas is a fun fast paced read with great thrills in a beautiful Hawaiian setting. Characters that balance each other beautifully with parallel vulnerabilities and complementary traits. It is an exciting read that I would feel comfortable as a parent recommending to teens. I got the impression that there was an influence of a writer I happen to really like; Clive Cussler. I love when an author leaves no loose ends and K.S. Thomas was brilliant at tying it all together.

Wow. I loved this book. Salty has lived her life on her parents boat. She finds herself in a war with local gangsters when they dump and use her land for drugs.

I received this book for my honest review
