A Garrison Love Story, Book Two

War makes strange bedfellows...

Shape shifter, Faelan Foley, goes to war determined to win independence in a society where women are possessions, but when she’s forced to shift and arrested as a spy, a soul-searing friendship with the enemy Field Marshal develops threatening her heart and her definition of freedom.

Aimery Duncan traded the privileged life of an island landholder for the anonymity of a cavalry officer. He never expects to find himself Field Marshal of the Allied Kingdom Army facing an invading enemy. Let alone meet his soul mate. Too bad, she is a shape-shifter and an enemy spy.

Can Duncan do his duty, save Faelan from the hangman’s noose, and somehow convince her that love is stronger than war?

Born into a nomadic society where the men's rule over the women is so oppressive that even the right to read is denied them, Faelan Foley will do anything to escape the traditional female life of submission and servitude. Even knowing the grave risk of discovery can't stop her from seizing a chance to use her rare shape shifting abilities to spy in the enemy's camp. She is determined to succeed and use that success as her first step towards equality and respect. Failure is not an option and her success is guaranteed when Field Marshal Aimery Duncan brings her into his tent as his beautiful new dog. At least it was guaranteed as long as she could remain undetected. When disaster struck it was worse than anything she could have prepared for. She never expected her heart to be captured by the enemy.

Characters that made me want to call them friends and a gripping story that held me hostage until the wee hours of the morning make this a highly recommendable read. Although Unbound Heart is the second in the Garrison Hearts series this book can definitely stand alone and has won its place as a Keeper on my book shelf. I can only say to the author one thing, BRAVO!
