“The Son of a Bitch” follows the turbulent journey of Christian James Daniels, the son of the formidable Veronica Daniels. Upon her untimely death, Christian inherits the family fortune and business, granting him the opportunity to confront his estranged siblings—Shandral, Stephanie, and Skylar. Driven by a deep-seated desire for vengeance against those who wronged his mother, Christian embarks on a relentless quest for retribution.
As he delves deeper into the promise he made to his mother, Christian discovers unsettling truths about his sisters. Despite their apparent disdain for Veronica, they share more traits with their 'mommy dearest' than they care to admit. Each twist and turn in his journey reveals the complexities of family bonds and the shadows cast by Veronica’s powerful toxic legacy.
In this gripping tale filled with suspense and unexpected revelations, Christian must decide whether to continue his path of vengeance or break free from the cycle of manipulation and control. Will he transform his heart before it’s too late, or will he remain the dutiful son Veronica raised him to be? “The Son of a Bitch” explores themes of loyalty, betrayal, and the enduring impact of a mother's influence.
In *The Son of a Bitch*, A.A. Lewis finally answers the burning question left at the end of *M.I.L.*: "Who is Veronica's baby daddy?" This twisted tale dives deep into a mother's love gone awry, giving new meaning to the term "boy mom." A.A. Lewis masterfully weaves a story rich with drama and unrestrained passion as she explores the complicated and often toxic dynamics of parenting. Brace yourself for a rollercoaster of emotions and scandalous secrets that will keep you hooked from start to finish.
I ended up giving this book a 3.5/5. Even missing from the book Veronica seemed to wreak havoc on the lives of her children and their spouses. She definitely made sure that she lived on within her son. There were so many things wrong with that family and a lot of it stemmed from Veronica. I read this book with my book club and there were a lot of differing thoughts and opinions regarding this one.
For one, it really bothered me that Christian thought his sisters owed Veronica anything. Yes, she may have birthed them but in no way was that woman a mother. From the time those girls hit puberty Veronica was in competition with every last one of them. She called herself teaching them hard life lessons by talking down to them, scheming behind their back, and engaging in inappropriate relationships with people they cared about. To justify her behavior as helping them in any way is a new level of delusional. Christian bothered me because he failed to realize that he didn't get the same mother that his sister's did.
Someone brought up that as adults the girls could have formed a relationship with their brother. Yes, they could have but blood relation doesn't owe him a relationship. Now, was it a little messed up being as he personally hadn't done anything to them? Yes, it was. But because they had been through so much at the hands of Veronica they decided to steer clear of her and Christian.
The sweet and caring sisters from book one did a complete 180 in this book. They went from having each other's backs to being mini versions of Veronica. And they definitely saw motivation in money.
This was certainly a read that will have your emotions all over the place and spark a good conversation about boundaries and familial relationships.
Wow I thought Veronica was something else her daughter were even worst . Poor Christian got the bad in of the stick from his siblings . That revenge was served cold and right on point
This was a really good story, but somewhere in chapter 13 or 14, there was a repeat of what the author wrote. I wasn't sure until I went back and read it. Overall, Christian was really something else. I did not expect that type of ending.
This story was so good! It’s about revenge being handed out with a big side of fall from the grace of wealth to everyone one. I had no idea all this stemmed from book 1, The M.I.L. (a must read!).
Christian is definitely The Son Of A B!tch who’s ruthless just like his mother Veronica and although he longs for love from family, his family f***ed him, so he f***ed them back…harder. Christian understands the lesson from Veronica that love is for fools and he’s no one’s fool. The wrath he unleashed was savage. He cared not and gave zero fuks. The secrets he exposed had me shook, like my flabber was gasted reading about the affairs, babies, murders, addiction, embezzlement, and abuse…I was not ready. The plot twist of reveals kept me engaged and eager for the next page of who was next on his hit list.
Author A. A. Lewis definitely went deep in her sinister bag for this storyline and she unleashed the havoc that is the clever, calculated, controlled and determined Christian Daniels.
A great follow up to The M.I.L. that’s a must read.
Exciting, drama-filled twists & turns and multi-dimensional characters continue through the next generation as we follow the Daniels family and all their mess. Sex, lies and power moves take us on the next leg of this series. Who will come out on top? Who will get ruined in the process? What secrets will be revealed? Most of all how entertaining will it be?! I enjoyed the unraveling of everyone's dirt and mess - one minute I was laughing at their shenanigans and the next I was yelling at them! Definitely a quick read and if you enjoyed the M.I.L you are sure to enjoy the S.O.B!
What in the world did I just read? I feel like that is the question I always ask after completing an AA Lewis book. I don't want to say that Christian was as toxic as his psychotic mother, but he was definitely a close second with all his conniving, scheming and vengeful nature that was pretty much hereditary. I definitely enjoyed this wild ride of seduction and revenge, especially with the very unexpected twist at the end. Like, dang girl, do you need some therapy or something?
This was an intense read filled with all kinds of twists and turns. Told from Christian's view, it tells the drama left behind by Veronica Daniels. He was truly his mother's child. The careful plots were carried out so dutifully. I was on the edge of my seat. That last betrayal I didn't see coming. This was a five star read. A.A. Lewis didn't disappoint! ♥️🔥
A.A Lewis never disappoints. In this sequel to the M.I.L , even in death Veronica is wicked. Her terror reigns through her son Christian. As a mother, why would you put one child against one another? One thing is for certain all of her kids got her evilness in them. This was definitely a wild ride and worthy of all 5 stars
Loved every minute of this. The betrayal, the lies, the deict was too much, but I couldn't stop reading. Here I was thinking Veronica was ruthless and calculated, but nahhhh, Christian takes revenge beyond the depths of hell. He's definitely his mother's son and the Daniel sisters are definitely their mother daughters. 10/10 I highly recommend!
I really enjoyed this follow up to MIL. It was definitely a messy messy book filled with revenge. I enjoyed Christian and still did not like his mother but empathized with what happened between her and his father . Everyone got what they deserved.
Didn’t know what to expect yet I am never disappointed from AA. This book was fill of unexpected twist and turns but what else would I expect in the Veronica Daniel’s saga, lol. Good read.
This is the sequel to her book, The Mother in Law and it did not disappoint. Her son was every bit of powerful and formidable as his mother. I found myself being empathetic towards him and his siblings. I didn’t think the story would end in the way it did, but it was still a good book. I would recommend this series to others and I will definitely read another book in Ms. Lewis’s catalog.
Wow Christian really was not playing when he said he was going to get his revenge on all his siblings that's just crazy how his mother inserted so my hate in all of them to turn their backs on each other the way they had..this was a really good book
