Forbidden Games by Katee Robert is two books in one! Make Me Want and Make Me Crave
Make Me Want: - We meet Lucy an attorney hoping for partner at her law firm. She had a really sh!tty break up that has left her with insecurity and little desire to re-enter the dating world. However, it's unlikely she'll make partner unless she's married. Enter, Gideon, a head hunter - oh and her ex's best friend. In desperation she asks him to help find her a husband... oh and to ensure she's better in bed...
Make Me Crave
We meet Allie, a struggling nonprofit and women's gym owner, as she embarks on a week's vacation in the caribbean with her friend, Becca (Becca is Lucy's sister from book 1). Enter Roman, he follows Allie on her trip to convince her to sell her company to his private client. They have one steamy night before they realize who each other are - can they set aside their feelings?
Both books are 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ spicy! I think book one flowed better and the storyline just flew by. I liked their chemistry. Book two was decent overall but I didn't vibe as much with the characters - they had a bit of insta love.
Thanks to Netgalley and Harlequin - Romance for the arc (ebook) - these opinions are my own.
Averaging out my ratings for each book gets me 3.6 which I'll round up to 4 stars.
This book is two previously published novellas from the Make Me series in one. In Make Me Want, Gideon fell for Lucy at first sight, but unfortunately his best friend got to her first. After years of mental abuse from Jeff, she finds out from Gideon that Jeff has been cheating on her. It's been two years since she's seen Gideon, but she needs his help. As a headhunter in New York, he has connections and she needs a husband fast in order to get a promotion. He has to find a way to convince her to choose him instead. In Make Me Crave Allie's best friend finally convinces her to take a vacation from her women centered gym and shelter. When a stranger kayaks onto her island, they have a crazy night before they realize they're not strangers after all. Can they keep their business complications behind and enjoy a great vacation? Of the two, I loved Gideon and Lucy best, but I liked the vacation atmosphere of the second book. Both books had plenty of spice and romance and a great story. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advance copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
These are two steamy, satisfying romances in a collection of novellas perfect for quick reads. In "Make Me Want," a determined lawyer, Lucy seeks confidence lessons from Gideon, her ex’s best friend. Their chemistry ignites, leading to an unforgettable love story. "Make Me Crave" follows Allie, a gym owner whose vacation fling with Roman, an investor, turns complicated when they discover their business rivalry. Tropes like friends-to-lovers, enemies-to-lovers, and close proximity are woven with emotional depth and spice. Both novellas are compelling, with well-developed characters and sizzling romance, for fans of fast-paced, trope-filled romances.
Make Me Want I liked this one slightly more than Make Me Crave. It felt like there was just a bit more plot and tension between Lucy and Gideon. Nothing like getting over a cheating, POS ex by falling for his best friend.
Make Me Crave This was 90% smut. I liked Allie's personal ambitions and drive to make a safe place for women. I was thinking how this book was so much easier to follow than Katee Robert's Neon Gods series and then she started adding Greek or Roman (main male character's name) mythology names and I nearly rolled my eyes.
Both books were decent. They were quick enough stories and if you like lots of smut with nearly no plot these would be for you.
I was so excited to get an ARC of this from Harlequin. Make Me Want and Make Me Crave are two of the authors older romance novellas and they were combined to create this book. I really liked both stories. Even though they were both short and spicy, I was so invested in the relationships and seeing how it would all play out in the end. I really enjoy a lot of the author’s romance books and I love her writing. There are some books/series of hers that are decidedly not my thing, but I love that she has a large backlist of various subgenres to try! Definitely recommend this one.
