4.5 stars. *May contain spoilers*

I was a little wary of this one. I'm not a big fan of this new kidnapping/rape "erotica" bullshit that's floating around. In fact I think it's outright disgusting and sets women back a few decades, and I can't figure out why women find it "hot". That shit happens in real life-hello! What.The.Fuck?!?

I decided to give it a chance since a friend asked me to read it. While it touches on the aforementioned topics, this book is paranormal, so I said OK. Luckily it's a very entertaining read told in first person by main character and certified bad ass Blake Noble: half vampire/half demon daughter of the devil.

Blake is a cop of sorts, working for the Supernatural Crime Division of the police force (like SVU or the like for supernatural beings). It starts as an investigation into the Covert, the organization that's kidnapping not just runaway or "unwanted" girls, but important high society ones as well and selling them into sexual slavery as well as selling their blood to vampires. As Blake has to act like she's a free agent, she's eventually lost her actual job and the only man (Carter) for whom she used to work and knew as a father figure to deeper and darker secrets. Accepting her new job is one thing, getting to the bottom of things and realizing her former coworkers are behind pretty much everything is another, and all the while dealing with a new mating with new coworker Eli. I do like the dynamic between the two, but I sometimes felt like she should have confronted him more about certain issues. I feel like he got off the hook a bit too easily and, while I enjoyed the romance between them, she should have stayed angry later. For instance, finding out that Eli and Carter's supposed dead wife were previously married by a Demigod. Um, yeah, I'd be pissed about that for far longer than she was. That's like marrying someone and then finding out they were married before. That's so not cool.

She's also conflicted of being in a relationship in the first place. She knows how men are-she's not some delicate little naive or weak flower. She isn't going to trust someone and give her heart when there's a good chance he won't be there in a decade. But having created a bond with Eli, there's a constant internal struggle. I know she's not the only woman in the world to go through this, and even though she's a paranormal character, I feel that what she deals with and her character development throughout the book make her more real than some humans I've met. She isn't a "protect me" kind of gal. Oh no. This one will protect herself, her friends, her team that SHE leads, and make her enemies rue the day that were born! I just love kick ass women who don't take any bullshit!

Because of this Blake is so very much my kind of woman, along with best friend/colleague Electa. Blake follows her own rules, Electa doesn't follow rules at all unless they suit her purpose (kind of like a Slytherin from Harry Potter :) )

There's not much back-story on Electa or a few of the other characters, but there's a little info on Carter who changed his evil ways long before Blake came along, and on Nick, Blake's new boss who's formerly known as Jack the Ripper. You read that right. Between that, Carter's old life, her old coworker trying to force himself on her and her kicking his ass (Go Blake!), killing an Ancient, her new mate-also an Ancient- becoming the new king, and busting most of the sex/blood trafficking ring all to Hell, she's had a full few weeks. There are a few loose ends and I'm hoping there's another book that ties those up.

If it weren't for a couple of grammatical errors I'd have given this a full 5 stars. I read that there was an updated version, so for that I'm giving the benefit of the doubt and going with 4.5 stars instead of just 4. Well worth the read. Glad I gave it a chance :)

I can't begin to tell you what a pleasant surprise "Blood Slave" was. It was more than I ever hoped for and has now sent me on a path to explore other books in this series and by this author.

Blake is half demon and half vampire. She has been working for the equivalent of the supernatural police ensuring humans are blissfully unaware of the supernatural world and the crimes some of them commit. When her boss and adoptive father, Carter's niece goes missing by a rogue vampire blood slave cartel known as the Covert, he enlists Blake's assistance. In order to help Carter Jade will need to go undercover and infiltrate to security team of the vampire Director, Nick. What she hadn't counted on was meeting his sexy beta, Eli.

As Blake and her demon side fight off her attraction to Eli things begin to heat up as more high profile girls go missing. Unfortunately, Nick discovers her ruse and she is shocked when Carter hands her over willingly to the King's service. She is hurt and conflicted when he refuses to accept her calls; but, then he is found murdered and all bets are off. As Jade maneuvers through a web of lies and deceit, she also finds home and her true mate. Ain't life grand!

This little gem has a bevy of interesting characters, intrigue, action and spicy sexual tension. Yum! I really enjoyed Blake and reading how her vampire and demon side butts head is like having two characters in one. Oh, I forgot to mention that Blake's long lost dad is none other than Lucifer himself. Oh Daddy Dearest what a fine mess you've gotten Blakee in. Ha! I loved this book.

Blake Noble works for the Supernatural Crime Division run by her boss Carter Roark who is also her adopted father. Blake is no ordinary supernatural, she is part vampire, demon and has a little witch thrown in for good measure. Her biological mother is part vampire and part witch and her father is Lucifer. When she was young her mother left her and Carter took over raising her. In addition, to everything else about Blake she also has visions, visions of death and torture that leave her totally empty. Now her vision is of Carter's niece who has been kidnapped by a group called Covert.

Covert is an organization that has been in operation for hundreds of years and the King of Vampires, Declan, turned a blind eye as long as the girls taken for sex and blood were ones noone would miss. They were criminals, whores or homeless but now they have escalated and they are taking girls from prominent people, such as Carter's niece. The Covert are rogue vampires unwilling to follow the laws set down for them and now Blake is sent undercover to investigate Nick Black, the Director of Michigan's vampires. Every country has their own King and their own Deputy Director. Nick's second in command is, Eli Dexter and when Blake meets him she knows that she is in trouble because she is drawn to him. Of course, Eli feels the same.

It doesn't take long before Nick hires Blake as his Guardian and it becomes obvious he is not the guilty party. Together Nick, Eli and the rest of Nick's Guards must find the one that is running the Covert and put a stop to it. So much going on for Blake and then the appearance of her father Lucifer really throws her for a loop. According to their laws he could not contact his daughter until she reached the age of twenty-five. He also informs her about her mother, where she is and why she left, but I am not about to reveal that information.

As if vampires, demons and werewolves are not enough there is also a reference to Jack-The-Ripper, and it was a surprise. Nick and Blake realize that they are mates and in spite of Blake's desire for independence she knows that she would not be able to be away from him. Mates are something common with werewolves but it seems that it occurs with vampires too. There is also a surprise involving Eli that changes everything for Blake and those around her including her boss Nick.

I loved this book, it had everything I could want from a paranormal romance, love, violence (well I don't love violence but it is part of what makes vampires and werewolves what they are) betrayal, secrets and some sex. Blake is such an amazing characters and most of the book is told from her POV. She is funny, brave, stubborn and says what she feels no matter who she is talking to. Eli is naturally a sexy, gorgeous vampire who is way more than he seems.

I look forward to more in this series. There is no cliffhanger and the story has a very satisfying end. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves a good paranormal romance and a mystery.

Oh my goodness , this book has vampires, werewolves ,demons and what would you call him but an angel. I want to introduce you to Blake Noble , she is part vampire and part demon. She is an agent for SCD a department of the FBI. Pertaining to the wrongs of supernaturals. Her latest case is to help her boss , and the only man she called father, to find his niece. She was taken by the Covert. A vampire human trafficking ring. As she is starts investigating she is put on the directors guard. After she saves his ass . But the second in command Eli is the man she and her demon half is lusting over. I will say ladies Eli is one hot vampire . With a few secrets of his own. As they build the team up , she has to figure out how to take down hundreds years of human trafficking and stop of the covert .

I went into this book with abandon. The characters in the book had me hooked from the second page. Blake is one likable character. You would really want her on your side in a fight. And to find out Satan is her father is so much fun to read cause he seems to pop into her life at the embarrassing times. Then there were all the alphas, Nick the director of the vampires , Micheal the alpha werewolf , and Eli what can I say about Eli is hot and hot Blake and Eli are really good together.

N.L takes us on a fun filled ride. Her first novel is one to read , the characters are well written and you will have fun with them. You watch them grow and you start really liking them . N.L is going to be an author to watch. So if you want a good read that will keep you reading and actually giggling through the whole book , check her out . I so can't wait for book two.

I enjoyed certain aspects of this book, while other aspects annoyed the hell outta me. The plot was very strong and the pace of the story was pretty good, except for near the end, it felt a bit rushed. I loved all of the characters, they were all pretty cool and served a purpose. My only problem is with the heroine, I didn't understand how she's brutally against being in a relationship, but then the very next page she's cool with it, but then near the end she's back to panicking about it. So that kinda threw me for a loop and took away from the story. However, I do like who the heroine decides to be with so it makes up for her instability. The only other thing that bugged me was the description dropping, too much description and pointless info was pushed at certain points in the story, that weren't needed.

The writing itself is actually really good, as well as the world building that's going on in this first in the series. The idea of humans being aware of and continually interacting with vampires and other races is always fun, specially when the book focuses primarily on the supernatural part and their own laws. It was nice to see a book like this where the humans just keep their noses out and let the vamps govern their own. For the most part I did really like the heroine, I thought she was pretty immature, but that adds to her charm. The heroine does joke about having multiple personalities, which totally made me laugh every time she talked about them.

I'd recommend this to UF/PNR lovers, you've got your mystery and your light romance so it works out well:).

Good value sexy romance with plenty of action.

This comment might be veering off on a bit of a tangent but I would really have liked this series to have followed Eli's business, with a POV from both Blake, and whatever other member of the team is involved in a romance. This way, I believe the series would have kept a better continuity whilst maintain the prime characters which are both good value. I would have preferred future books to follow on with the existing characters and the ongoing issues surrounding the supernaturals, rather than bring on new books from other characters.

C'est la vie.

If you love paranormal romance, you will love this book!It has a wonderful story line, characters that brought it to life for me,it had mystery, suspense, plot twists (always a plus for me),humor, & romance. You will love Blake, she is half demon/half vampire...she is sassy & snarky which I love in a female character. She is on the hunt for the Covert, who is abducting young girls to be used as blood slaves. And Eli,a dark sexy Vamp in his own right, who in a sense becomes her partner in the hunt for the Covert. You have to read the book for more,as it's easy to give away spoilers.....Another reason I loved this book,it focuses on other characters in the book as well,i.e. shifters, vamps,& others, and it is not a two dimensional book,as it isn't only based on 2 key characters, though they are the integral part of the story line. I would like to encourage readers to read this book, and let your imagination soar,to imagine the possibilities of what can happen..I can safely say after you have read this one,you will want more !!

Wow what a book!

From the first chapter, I was hooked! This book is full of action, and awesome characters. I kind of want to read it all over again, even though I just finished reading it!

Blake is one bad ass. I really loved her personality.
The fact that she is half demon, made the book even better! I love the fact that she will let everyone know who was boss, and she wasn't afraid to challenge them.

I was absolutely obsessed with Eli. He is a match for Blake. He is so powerful. He took over his rightful place as king, with in a matter of minutes. I really loved reading the relationship between him and Blake. I thought it was so sweet.

I liked all of the characters in this book. They were so badd ass!! I really enjoyed the plot and story line of this book. All of the twist and turns really kept me on my toes. I want more!

The cover of the book is spot on with snarky, witty Blake! Half-vamp and half-demon on a mission to save the slaves, with help of course. Incoming! Hot vamps, werewolf Electra, and a few traitors! In the start of the book I loved the badass, witty, and sarcastic herione. But the author does not let us forget she is a woman, with needs despite her demon side. Blake's perfect match, Eli, compliments the mission with a twist I did not see coming! How deep is Carter and why did he just write her off? Will they find Lucy and get their revenge? I am so excited for the next book. Great job!!

Blake Noble is half demon and half vampire with some witch blood thrown in. She works for SCD, Supernatural Crime Division. Her boss’s niece is taken and she is tasked to investigate her disappearance. They think a group called the Covert has taken her. She is sent under cover to work with Director of Michigan. Her boss thinks he may be someway involved. Nothing goes as planned with her undercover mission. She winds up having to sign papers saying the she only works for Nick, the director of Michigan. She finds herself being chased by two different men. Michael is a local alpha who makes it clear he wants her and is going to have her. The other is Eli who is the deputy director of Michigan. She finds herself attracted to Eli almost drawn to him like anything before. While on the mission she learns that Lucifer himself is her father. She starts developing all kinds of new powers. She is made the guardian for Nick and is given her own team. He has her investigating the Covert also. She winds up almost being a victim of the Covert while staking out a house they are using. When she wakes she finds out that she had been out for two days. This incident brings her and Eli closer. Eli has a secret of his own that he holds onto tightly. Eli and Blake are mates. She wants to fight it at first but then realizes they will always be drawn back together anyway and she doesn’t really want to be without him anyway. She constantly feels like her two halves are at war with each other. Who knew that one mission would change her life so much? Will Blake be able to figure out who is behind the Covert and stop them? Will Blake give in to her feelings for Eli?
I enjoyed this book. Blake is a complex character. She has been through a lot in her life. In fact she has spent it trying to never really let anyone in besides her boss Carter. He is also her adopted Dad. He took her in when she had no one. This is why even though she has her doubts about the case she does what he wants anyway. She is devastated when he tells her to sign the contract saying she only works for the director of Michigan. She feels like he is abandoning her. Eli has been alive for a very long time. He isn’t who he seems to be. He keeps his true power to himself. But, once he meets Blake his control slips sometimes when he feels she has been threatened. Eli is an amazing character. Blake learns all kinds of new things during this book. Some she is prepared deal with on some she isn’t. I can’t wait to read more about these characters. The book was a little slow at times but I think that is because there were a lot of things that needed to be explained. I was surprised by some things that happened. The group became close and worked well together.
I was given this book in return for an honest review.

STARS: 5
POV: First
Series: Yes
Cliffhanger: No

Blake Noble works for the Supernatural Crime Division. When her boss’s niece goes missing, she is sent uncover to help find her. She is supposed to get as close as possible to the Deputy Director of vampires to get as much information as she can about the illegal underground group known as the Covert. This organization has been stealing people off the streets to sell as blood slaves.

Blake is half vampire and half demon. She is balls to the wall, in your face, tough as nails and…hilarious. I loved her character. When she discovers that her father is Lucifer, she starts taking demon lessons from him. Now you would think that the King of Hell would be serious, but that is so not true here. He is serious when it comes down to his work but with Blake, I almost spit coffee all over my kindle. He shows up at the most inopportune moments and dressed…well let’s just say that he doesn’t always come fully clothed.

Blake’s hormones are all over the place and her demon half starts to show more. She is having a hard time fighting her attraction for the Deputy Director but I was completely thrown off kilter when someone else comes to play. I didn’t see him coming for Blake at all until it was right there in front of me.

Lots of suspense and mystery entangled with laughter and hotness in this must read. The book is well written and the characters are extremely lovable and addictive. I can’t wait to see what else is coming with the remaining books of the series. Go 1-click today.

After reading this I couldn’t believe it was her first book! I couldn’t put it down… I needed to find out what was happening and this book kept me guessing throughout its pages. N.L. Hoffmann has an amazing talent that kept me enthralled and I can’t wait for her second book!

The book opens up with Blake Noble in the middle of a vision. She is trying to figure out who took Carter, her superior at the SDC’s, niece. He is also the man who raised her after her mother abandoned her and her father wasn’t anywhere around. During her vision she discovers that the Covert had taken his niece. The Covert were basically rogues who were organized by someone who chose to deal with them. The Covert would steal girls normally from the street so they wouldn’t be missed but lately they have been taking high society girls, girls that would cause a problem for the vampires were the Covert to become known to the humans around them.

Carter sends Blake to investigate Nick Black one of the Directors since evidence seems to point to him. For her to do that she has to become part of his Guard. Blake herself is a kick ass vampire/ demon hybrid, so she shouldn’t have a problem getting in right? When Blake attends a dinner where she is supposed to save Nick so she can impress him enough to be put on his guard everything goes to hell. First, when his second in command Eli demands to know why she is there because he isn’t buying her excuse and secondly while she is being politely interrogated on the dance floor by hot Eli rogues crash the party and attack Nick. Though this wasn’t the set up planned by Carter, Blake takes advantage of it and does her badass thing and takes care of business. Nick doesn’t offer her a job until Eli suggests it would be a good to have Lucifer’s daughter on their side.

Eli has quite a few secrets and has kept them for many years. When he meets Blake he immediately wants her. He works with Blake to find out who is framing Nick and investigating a dead body. Blake is trying to resist Eli while Eli does his best to make her give in.

N.L. Hoffmann has quite a few interesting characters in this story you just don’t want to miss them. Michael, Nick, his brother, and Lucifer, those are just a few I could name! This book has so many twists and turns you just have to love it! I am looking forward to the next book in this series!!

Blood Slaves (The Daughters of Darkness Book 1)

Blake Noble is a half-vampire, half-demon agent for the Supernatural Crime Division of the FBI. Carter Roark is her father-figure, mentor. When his niece goes missing, he uses Blake's unique talents to try and find her. This leads Blake to an organization called the Covert, vamps gone rogue, kidnapping girls to sell into slavery mainly for blood. Instead of sticking to the homeless, the Covert is now going after society girls who would be missed. Blake goes undercover to investigate the Director of Michigan, Nick Black. She finagles her way into the job of Nick's Guardian, which means she has to live at Michigan House. Eli, Nick's Deputy Director, mentions that someone is trying to set Nick up. Blake isn't sure she wants to live in such close quarters with Eli, as she is too attracted to him and her demon half is getting out of control. Eli mentions that Lucifer is her father, something Blake never knew. Well, guess we know where her demon half came from. Lucifer pops in and out attempting to help Blake control her powers. Nick puts together a team to help Blake investigate the Covert. Every angle they attempt to investigate seems to be a set-up. This was a great, easy to read novel. Blake's irreverent humor, and the bantering interaction between the characters had me chuckling my way through this book. Blake and Eli were an exciting, extremely passionate, couple. Blake is feisty, independent, definitely in a take no prisoners kind of way. She shows little fear of anyone, including The King of the Vampires and Lucifer, and calls it like she sees it. Unfortunately, not everyone appreciates her irreverent attitude. Eli was a good pairing for her. Although he wants nothing more than to protect her, he knows he has to let her do her job, as much as he doesn't like it. He knows that if he tries to smother her Blake will simply walk away, as she is leery of relationships in the first place. The supporting characters in this book were totally engaging. I want to read more about each and every one of them. There are a lot of surprise twists along the way, making for a truly engaging read.

N.L. Hoffmann's debut paranormal romance is superb. Blood Slaves is the first in The Daughters Of Darkness series, and the book is definitely worth reading! With unique characters that are just downright yummy, plot twists and steamy sex scenes this book deserves recognition, so I'm going to give it some! What I really enjoyed was the amount of humour you also got, you got a little bit of everything from this book and thats what makes it so utterly satisfying. I read this in about two sittings and now that I am finished I can not wait for the second in the series bring on 'The Daughters Of Darkness'!

Characters, well this is what I thought was so well done, you had tons of engaging characters. Starting with leading lady Blake, the daughter of Lucifer making her half demon and her other half you ask, well her mother was a vampire, yep half demon half vampire! What I adored about Blake was her internal monologue her two halfs always fighting and bickering about what they wanted. Blake is an agent for SCD (supernatural crime division) sent undercover to find her boss's niece, Blakes life gets complicated by copious amounts of gorgeous demon stirring men and lots of very shocking revelations about people from the past!

Leading man Eli, is one badass vampire, working as second in command to Nick, Blakes target of investigation. Eli is everything you want in an alpha man, strong, handsome, powerful, he even has a hair free chest, what more could you want. When things with the investigation go astray Blake is forced to actually work for Nick 'Vampire Director' for real signing a contract that means the man who raised her and who is her boss at SCD has walked away from her, and the reason she was in this mess in the first place, was to help him.

When alpha wolves, sexy vampires and the Devil himself turn up in blakes life, Blake must find her way, solve the mystery, while learning to let love in and keep her horns hidden!

Random fact Lucifer has an English accent and drinks tea out of cup and saucer, being English and a lover of tea I adored this imagery!

A must read for any paranormal romance fan! Fun, fresh reading
A new outlook at the world of the supernatural!

Looking at all the high reviews on Goodreads made me wonder what is was that I blinked and missed in this book, as I thought it was pretty poor in every area!

I noticed with interest that the author mentioned having a proofreader. It might have been an idea to save some money by not hiring one as this book was riddled with bad spelling and grammar, strange sentence structure, weird punctuation etc. If this was the proofread version I dread to think what the previous versions looked like. It wasn't ideal but I can overlook things like that if I like the story and characters. In this case, sadly I didn't.

I didn't like the style of writing that was chosen for the book. It was full of short and robotic sentences, which lacked the descriptive detail that you expect to bring you into the story and the world it is set in. At times I didn't understand what the author was trying to say and it actually felt at times as if the first half of the sentences were missing and you were jumping in midway through something. There was no flow to the story and no depth to the world, with so little interesting detail give. It was all tell and no show and was poorly constructed! Things were left unexplained and at times you were scratching your head as you wondered what was going on. It was a struggle from the start to force myself to keep reading.

I felt that the book was just jumping around too much at the start and not letting things flow, which meant that I felt no emotional connection to the MC Blake. Character development was lacking from the start and it didn't take long for Blake to start getting on my nerves. It was also very slow to get into the story which does not help when you are already struggling with the book.

I couldn't honestly find anything to like or any redeeming feature. I certainly won't be reading the rest of the series or anything else by the author.

Blood Slaves is book one in The Daughters of Darkness series. The series is set to be a great addition to the Paranormal Romance genre.

Fans of werewolves, vampires, witches, demons and angels will be a big fan of this book. There is something in here for every paranormal fan.

Blake Noble is our heroine. She is part vampire and part demon. The only one of her kind. She is my kind of gal. She describes her attitude in the book “It would be lying to deny that most of the time my thoughts were erratic and very immature”. Blake is written so hilariously that she had me in stitches with her escapades. She is such a likeable character who does not take crap from anyone.

Blake is assigned by her boss to investigate the disappearance of his niece, who like many others, is suspected to have been abducted by a secret vampire organization called the Covert.

Blake covertly obtains a position as Guardian of the vampire Director of Michigan. In this role surrounded by good-looking males of all kinds, she meets her love interest, the Deputy Director Eli.

Eli is a swoon worthy ancient vampire who knows a lot more than he lets on. He is taken by Blake right from the start and stands by and supports her throughout the book. He is not one to be put off by her erratic and immature behavior.

There are several secondary characters that play a big part in making this book so great. I will really enjoy finding out more about them in the books to follow in the series.

I recommend this series to fans of the paranormal. The way the author has written the story is unique to the genre and not the same old vampire vs werewolf tale that we are so used to.

Don’t wait, read it now.

I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review.
I have to say this, I loved the character Blake she is fearless and outspoken it makes into a great story line. She is essentially a woman that doesn’t take crap from anyone; she makes you laugh and fall in love with her character. Blake is an investigator for the Super Natural Crime Division and is trying to find a way to infiltrate the Covert, which has been around for quite some time. Girls are disappearing from higher places in society and the Covert needs to be stopped. In the process of the investigation she finds out more about her abilities not just as a vampire, but also a demon. As she is acquiring and getting to know her abilities she is drawn to a sexy man named Eli, who scares her and is she ready for such a change?
The story is action packed and keeps you wanting to know what will happen in the investigation. I like the fact that Blake has a friend that is another girl that has the same attitude with being fearless. I enjoy reading stories of women that don’t take much off of anyone and are strong characters; it does make for an enjoyable story. The story is set that it introduces the reader to many new characters that I would love to read more about and get to know. Overall, this book is a good read and I enjoyed reading it.

Finally a paranormal read that kicks some ass!! I was so amazed by this book. I completely devoured it in one sitting. From vamps, to werewolves, to demons; this book has it all.

This is the first book of The Daughters of Darkness Series and it's the first book I've read from this author. From the first chapter, I was hooked. It literally starts with a bang and sucks the reader in. I felt like I was taken into a whole new world and experienced an adventure of a lifetime. We meet Blake Noble, a special agent for the SDC and has just been given a new mission trying to rescue a girl taken into a vampire trafficking ring. She is half vamp/half demon and holy hell...the things that happen to her are insane! I literally felt like an emotional roller coaster while reading this book. So many things happened and there were times when I thought a certain plot would play out; but then it completely changed course. I LOVED Eli. He is the perfect mate for Blake and oh..so...hot!! He is so smooth, cool, fresh, and cocky in a way that doesn't rub off wrong. Blake is so freakin badass. I love a strong heroine and she filled the shoes perfectly.

Overall, this is a great story with lots of action, suspense, romance, thrills, and laughs. If you like paranormal, then definitely read this book! You will love it!!

A copy of this was provided for an honest review.
I am not going to tell you what this book is about, because the blurb says it all. I will however tell you in so many ways, why you should be reading this book!
Oh Momma! This book has it all. Whether you are in it for the werewolves, vampires or that little bit something else, this book has it! The main heroine, Blake Noble is full of witty and a likable immature humour; and did I mention the action! I was fully immersed in N. L. Hoffmann’s world. Blake had me laughing, much like the other characters surrounding her. I must mention her best friend, Electa, a werewolf assassin who I found myself certainly fond of.
I loved the raunchy tension, and passion between Eli and Blake. I love Eli’s character which is honourable yet very in so many ways desirable. Even her demon father, Lucifer had me laughing. All I can say is father like daughter.
I was sad when this book ended, and cannot wait to get stuck into book two. If you are after action, sex, humour and paranormal; bite into this baby, this is everything you need and more.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Blake Noble works in a department for the FBI that deals with crimes of the supernatural. She is also half vampire and half demon. When her boss' daughter goes missing Blake is assigned to investigate. They uncover a vampire human trafficking ring run by The Covert. These are vampire rogues and use humans for blood slaves and they have the his daughter. As she gets further into the investigation she meets Eli, a hot vampire who is a match for Blake and together they team up and try to stop the bad guys. Can Blake really stop what's been going on for hundreds of years?

I love books about the paranormal and this book was great! The characters were well written and I liked Blake and her feisty attitude at times. I also liked the chemistry between Blake and Eli. It was a slow start for me but once I got into it I couldn't put it down. This is a great read and I highly recommend it if you love the paranormal genre. I give this 5 stars

Blood Slaves has a stimulating prose  provoking an exhilarating air of entertainment laced within every page!
The book provides so many different layers of intrigue it felt like I'd read ten  amazing novels instead of just the one!

People have brought it to my attention that they trust my recommendations. With that being said, any book I read through in one sitting is a book that belongs in YOUR library! I loved it.

I adore the personality the author gave the book. It's heavily laced with sarcasm, humor, friendships I envy, love I crave, and lust as a perk!

Too many of the reviews I read gave way too much information away. I'll leave it at this: It's unique, has a head - strong and sassy heroine, swoon - worthy men, and has an amazing array of mythological creatures made to feel natural in this epic thriller.

I'd give it more than 5 stars if I could!
I'm off to read the sequel. Books worthy of insomnia are not to be put on the back-burner.

This was such a fun and entertaining book! Blake Noble is a vampire and demon. Not just any demon, but Lucifer's daughter! I just loved Blake she was funny, goofy, brave, and determined to complete her mission. This story caught my attention right from the start. It has mystery, intrigue, a back story that has to be explored, and loads of personalities!!

Electa was great!! I just loved this character. An incredibly sexy werewolf that is an assassin!! She is Blake's best friend and you can see why. Both are just themselves no matter who is around. Although they both have intimacy issues they know they can count on each other no matter what!

I can't wait for the next book. The world Hoffmann created is so interesting and mysterious. I can tell there is a lot of back story just waiting to be explored! This sexy paranormal mystery should not be missed!!

Hoffmann's debut paranormal romance is superb. Blood Slaves is the first in The Daughters Of Darkness series, and the book is definitely worth reading! In this story we follow Blake Noble, a half vampire and half demon. She's feisty with a take no prisoners attitude when it comes to her job. She works for the Supernatural Crime Division. The humor is dark and sarcastic but spot on, and nothing is free from being made fun of including Jack the Ripper, so settle back and prepare to enjoy a new venture into the paranormal world. I was captivated from page one. The characters and the story are very well written. You can not judge a book by its cover. You will not be disappointed with this read. I look forward to more from Hoffmann

Do you like books with witches, demons and vampires? Well in this book you get that ALL in one feisty female character then you throw in Lucifer who she just learned that HE is her father who is trying to help her with her powers that are just starting. Throw in her boss who throws her deep undercover working for the King of the vampires only to be fired so now he is her ex-boss but still working with the vampire king? Let's not forget there are two of the oldest vampires who everyone thought was dead and are each others enemy who has no choice but to make themselves known. Why? Guess you'll have to read the book! Off to read book 2.

Hilarious!

When I purchased this book I wasn't sure what to expect. However I was quickly drawn in and loved the sarcastic and witty sense of humor from the main character Blake. The storyline is well written and keeps you on the edge of your seat! I enjoyed seeing a strong willed woman who can take care of herself. There is definitely something to be said when an author can bring new ideals to the table in paranormal writing. The characters are well developed and each play an important role in this book. N.L. Hoffmann is a talented author and I will most definitely buy her books in the future!

I absolutely adored this book!! The characters and storyline were great! It was cool that the author associated some of the characters with criminals from our past (AKA: Jack the Ripper).
In the beginning of the book I felt a bit overloaded with the amount of names and people were thrown at me so quickly, but after about 5 more pages it was over and worth it!
Blake is awesome, and absolutely freaking hilarious!
I liked how the author made Lucifer. He was hilarious! Always doing and saying funny and inappropriate things!
Great book! Will definitely check out Book 2! Would love to see more of Blake and the handsome awesome King Eli!

Blake is assigned to find her bosses niece. She will be taken in to a very dark investigation with blood slaves and sex slaves. She must go in under cover to find out what is going on and who is behind this. She finds herself attracted to the second in charge Eli, who has secrets of his own.

This book took me awhile to get into it, very slow in beginning. I am so glad, I stayed reading this book. Lots of action and well rounded characters. My advice read it, you will not be sorry!
