The Hitman's Guide #7

The Mercenary's Guide to Mishaps and Romance

Rate this book
Ellis

Why is it that the first attractive man to look my way mistakes me for a bad guy, stuffs me in the trunk of his car, and ships me off to an island where I’m positive the only thing waiting for me is my own murder?

I mean... yeah, Tavish is charismatic and fun, but did I mention the whole trunk thing? Oh, maybe I forgot to mention his peculiar group of friends who keep promising to “help” me, but why are they running around with masks and weapons while praising fences?

Tavish and his friends are actually the bad guys, aren’t they?

If I (somehow) look past all of that… Tavish really does seem like a nice guy. He’s caring, funny, and willing to risk his life to protect me. It’s become quite clear that if I’m going to get out of this alive, I’m not going to be able to do it without him.

Tavish

So maybe I mixed things up a wee bit and took Ellis on a tiny road trip that he might not have been privy to. Ellis doesn’t seem to overly mind. I mean, yeah, maybe he tried blinding me with aerosol spray… or maybe I was just blinded by his handsome smile.

The problem is that Ellis is in danger, but he knows nothing about this world he’s been thrown into. He’s sweet, kind, and has the biggest heart of anyone I’ve ever met. And I’m prepared to protect it at all costs.

Contains a charming man who lays on a Scottish accent to get his way, a bewildered vet tech who’s wondering why everyone around him is so strange, a parrot who may or may not want to steal Tavish’s man, and the Hitman’s Guide crew up to their usual hijinks.

✅ Leland and the gang
✅ Hilarious, as always
✅ OTT characters
✅ Ellis, the new and only “normal” member of this crazy gang
✅ Fast and addictive pace
✅ Action
✅(🆗) Plot (honestly, I was slightly confused until the end)
✅🆗 Romance is progressing a bit too quickly
🆗 Smut (is it just me, or was it cringe?)
❗️❗️Trigger warning: mentions of attempted murder, abduction, shootings, dead body

Strong 3.5 stars I think...

This series is the perfect comedic relief to any problem you might have. While some aspects of this book annoyed me a little, I still had a great time reading this book.

“I promise I’m super safe now. I’ve made some really sketchy friends.”

Once upon a time, there was a nice, normal guy named Ellis. Then, one day, Ellis has the misfortune to get kidnapped by Tavish because he thinks Ellis is a serial killer and Tavish has been hired to bring him to one of the victims’ dad. Of course, none of this is true, the plot thickens (and gets a little confusing too), and Ellis is thrown into Leland, Jackson, Cassel, and Tavish’s daily crazy life… And that was the end of poor, innocent Ellis. After this dreadful day, only the confused, slightly clueless-at-time, and scarred-by-everything-Leland-told-him-and-put-him-through Ellis remained.

“Cassel, I hear what you’re saying. The man is dreadful, almost as bad as Jackson’s mother.”
“Hey,” Jackson mutters.
“But… it kind of sounds fun to go to a private island and hunt some assholes down, does it not?”
Cassel gets a dreamy look on his face. “I’ll grab my swim trunks.”
“I don’t think that’s what he was implying,” Jackson says.

We saw a lot of Leland and the gang, and I was so happy about it! I couldn’t stop grinning like a lunatic or laughing out loud. I was a little afraid that this book would mostly focus on Tavish and Ellis, and only give us a few glimpses of the rest of the gang, but no, it was centered on Tavish and Ellis, but Leland, Jackson, and Cassel were all very much involved into the plot. We even saw Henry and Jeremy briefly, and Waylon too.

Leland smiles at me. “You’re just so much nicer than Tavish. I think you can take his place in the group.” He says that as if I have any interest at all in becoming a permanent member.
“I don’t mind just… not taking anyone’s position and remaining the addition who will go back to his normal life after this is all over.”

“Is this… like… shouldn’t we be planning or something? Like making some kind of plan in case Arthur realizes we’re here and we have to like, run out quickly? I mean, did we even stop to look at what floor we parked the car on?”
“He’s cute,” Cassel says.
“And funny,” Leland adds.

Ellis is the only “normal” guy in the crew, and it works surprisingly well. The poor guy is just too nice to stop Leland’s crazy scheme, and as a result, Ellis ends up being roped into Leland’s illegal plans, even though he is the furthest thing from a criminal you can imagine… Seriously, it’s almost creepy how nice he is.

Ellis and Tavish are cute together, and I think they will complete each other well, but their relationship progressed a little bit too quickly for me. Tavish abducted Ellis, which is not the best way to start a healthy relationship, and after that, it was a whirlwind of fighting, shooting, and escaping the bad guy’s murder island. Still, in the middle of all the action and emotions, Ellis and Tavish had the time to question their feelings and realize that they liked each other. Not only that, but they were also willing to invest time and energy into this relationship after knowing each other for only a few days. Then, there is the smut. It was a little cringy, but I am used to weird spicy moments with this author, still, I feel that sweet, innocent Ellis became a completely new character during the smuttier moments, and it was weird.

Waylon was a nice addition to the cast too, even though he is not a part of the crazy and illegal plans. Leland and Jackson decided to adopt him at the end of the previous book, and while Waylon pretends that he finds Leland weird and does not enjoy living with him, we can see how nice it feels for him to have some parental figures who care about him and his wellbeing. Leland is also willing to do anything for Waylon to love him, and Waylon knows it. It created a few cute and funny moments too, that felt less over the top, and more heartwarming.

Now, I must mention it, because while I found it funny at first, it’s getting old and annoying after so many books… the Fence…
I love running gags, and I wouldn’t mind a joke or two about the Fence every now and then, but I read more about the Fence than about Jeremy and Henry in this book. I think this book had more references to the Fence than all the previous ones combined.

On a side note, will we ever get more details about Tavish’s dad and their weird relationship?

Tavish deserved better!
ETA: by the 'f-word' I mean 'fence'.

My first review draft was heavily edited to make sense because it was an essay rant about the f-word AKA. The 🚧 there are no proper emojis, maybe ms Winters and her f-word cult could petition to Apple or something…..

description
What is the word count for ‘the fence’ in this 300+ pages spin-off? SEVENTY-NINE TIMES! THAT’S MORE TIMES THAN ALL OF LELAND’S BOOKS COMBINED!!!!! WHY? WHY DOES LELAND EVEN HAVE HIS OWN CHAPTERS? I OFFICIALLY HATE HIM NOW. SHE HAS TO BE DOING IT ON PURPOSE FOR SOME REASON RIGHT? ITS NOT NORMAL THE WAY IT GETS MENTIONED SUDDENLY SOMETIMES!
That being said, I am also ashamed of myself for snorting a little at the ‘J climbing after the bad guy’ scene. And J eating the f-word cookie. I hope you’re proud of yourself, ms Winters!

I am having a love-mostly-hate relationship with this book, it kept me in a never ending cycle of half an hour good mood then two hours (or more since I keep throwing my phone away to dissociate) wishing it would just freaking end already. It was kind of repetitive and dull at times and I kept falling asleep and skimming by the end, because there were three life and death situations by 60% and I was already tired of what might be coming next.

The best thing about experiencing this book was reading it with the lovely Pauline, my #ReadingKindredSpirit🍃✨ otherwise, I would have dnf or left it for later. We had a great time together, it wasn’t our first book and hopefully not our last.

I will not talk about the ridiculousness anymore than what I already said about the f-word. Tavish and Ellis were lovely and great, I might like them more than Cassel and Jeremy, even though Ellis is too nice that I’m creeped out lol, then of course he had to change COMPLETELY into ‘basic AW main character’ when it was sexy times🙂 Yep. Good job Alice. And by 83% it felt like she forgot how she first wrote him! There were a lot of group scenes that were amazing like always, I am still laughing over the Maths problem and holding the coffee shop door scenes, I can’t! The latter was freaking relatable from ALL three sides, ohmygod! And the asking for the gun scene???? Bro! That was romantic af!!! TAVISH IS SO FREAKING PRECIOUS 🧶🐝

And now to the creepy foreplay…
description
I am starting to wonder if this is actually what turns her on?! It’s in the majority of her books; I was biting with my teeth, digging with my nails into the hope of this being the exception….alas. If she wants it in her personal life, I hope she gets lovingly suffocated with it. If not, I sincerely hope her partner wises up and gets a Clue (pun intended) and does something about it so she stops putting it in her books just to try and make the partner understand. I’m doing guess work here people but I feel like I’m very right with my theory.

PS. I don’t care if this is a safe space or not, I fucking hate birds and the ones that can speak? Hells no! Birds are annoying aholes. Just shoot all of them.

PPS. this is the second author I’m losing my patience and love for this year! And they’re both on my insta-buy-without-reading-the-blurb list! NO MORE!

So funny! I was laughing the whole way through this, especially at Tavish 😂 I really want a crocheted bumblebee now too...

Ellis was definitely an unusual addition to this insane group but Leland was delighted with him and he weirdly balanced the group so well.

I love how this felt like more of an ensemble cast than focusing on the two MCs and it involved all the gang getting up to their usual shenanigans.

I'd love to see more about Waylon too, I need a YA story for him because he is such a teenager and it really amused me every time he was involved.

This has to be one of Alice’s funniest books to date. Probably one of the funniest I’ve ever read. I was hooked from page one, and cracking up the entire time. It’s fun seeing a different side to Tavish, and I lovvveeeee Ellis so much! He is everything you didn’t know this series was missing. As soon as I finished this, I wanted to start it all over again. 10/10 - 5 stars - one of my top reads of the year!!

Okay, I’m conflicted. The thing is, I was either INCREDIBLY annoyed or INCREDIBLY entertained while reading this.

Let’s start with the annoyance: The Fence. Alice Winters, please for the love of god STOP WITH THE FUCKING FENCE. It hasn’t been funny since book 2 and I was rolling my eyes so hard at all the fence ‘jokes’ that I fear they might be getting stuck permanently. Reem, with whom I BR this (love you girl ♥️) counted the times the fence was mentioned in this book, and it’s an unbelievable 79 times, I can’t even comprehend that.
Then, the sex scenes. I mean we all know AW writes cringey steam, but this times it wasn’t only cringey, it was maddening because sweet, innocent, normal Ellis became a whole different character during it and it honestly freaked me out.
Lastly, the case. It was confusing and weird and seemed like AW just made it up as she went along. Also: what’s the story with Tavish’s father? He’s mentioned twice when it was convenient but we learn NOTHING about Tavish’s past in general, how he got to be who he is, what part his dad played, or anything of substance, which is weird, seeing as this is TAVISH’S BOOK! Quite disappointing.

So now that that’s out of the way, let’s talk about the things I liked:
First: The humour (exclude the fence in this please) was OFF THE CHARTS. I had to laugh out loud so many times, it was honestly a little embarrassing. The banter, the motherfucking badass guardian angels, their first escape off the island, the weasel and the bear, Ellis and the vase, Papa Leland, the door holding scene, the escape room, the boat scene - all that made me giggle and smile throughout the whole book.
Second: Ellis was such a good addition to the crew. My fav part of the book was how Leland and co were so suspicious of Ellis just being a nice, polite, innocent guy. The way they doted on and immediately cared for him after accepting him as ✨normal✨ made me smile from ear to ear. And how could they not? Ellis was fucking precious 😭🥹 And him and Tavish and their FLIRTING was everything.
Third: Tavish was my fav and him crocheting little animals and selling them at the craft fair in his free time was the cutest fucking thing I’ve ever heard I could cry just thinking about it 😩

So yeah, I dunno. I guess 3⭐️ is a good middle ground.

PS: Reem and I were thinking, there have to be more books coming, right?! Micah’s and Everly’s story? The whole Lucas plot is still wide open? Maybe then, we’ll also get more of Tavish’s background, I’d love that.

Not her best book tbh.
This is one of the most "mid" Alice winters books I read in a long time. The jokes were not that funny, the love interest was meh, everything about this was average.
Read this if you like her writing and have nothing better to read.
This looks like one of those books authors use just to cash grab a bit in a loved series, I love Alice winters she's one of my fav authors, insta buy, so it does pain me to have this thoughts but this book just doesn't hit and it's totally unnecessary to the series.

ETA Oh bless Michael. As always, he does a superb job narrating this one! This is a series I always tell people - get the audio. The characters truly come to life in this narration, as so many of Alice's books do. Get the audios!

Read this series in order too, it won't make sense just jumping in here.

We finally get a true "normal" MC joining the chaos of the Hitman world LOL. Oh my, bless Ellis' innocent sweet heart LOL. This poor normal guy getting thrown into the chaos that is Leland, Cassel, Tavish, and all their partners and friends LOL.

Also I love getting to see Waylon settling in with Leland and Jackson.

Tavish started out so loud and just a bit OTT but I am really enjoying him now that the feels are starting to hit and he's having to try and help Ellis through their ordeal.

And Cassel, my sweet baby. I adore him and always, always will.

Michael is a superb narrator, as always. I love how just more unhinged his voices for everyone gets from Hitman 1 to now LOL.

So. Much. Singing. I love it. And I love that Ellis is genuinely impressed with Leland's singing and rapping, much to the chagrin of everyone else in the murder van LOL

I started the audiobook about 10 secs after I got my greedy little hands on it because I've been so excited for this book!

I thought it was absolutely hilarious, as this entire series always is, and I really liked Tavish and Ellis.

Poor Ellis, being literally the only normal one in this crazy group, it was so funny to see it all through his eyes, and a lot of his awkardness was way tok relatable lol.

Tavish was so funny, and laid my doubt about whether he could carry a book to rest fairly quickly. I did wonder if a plot line about his father got dropped in the final edit though, but maybe future books are already planned.

The group scenes were amazing, and I loved Leland getting POV chapters though maaaaybe the Fence is a little overdone by now. But whenever I think that, I just imagine this is how every character but Leland must feel lol.

I also liked seeing Micah and Everly again and I'm curious about whether they were brought back so they could get their own books too.

If you're doing the audiobook, make sure to listen all the way to the end, including credits for a couple of fun extras!

As with all the other Hitman’s Guide book, this was a hilarious (and insane) delight. I was super excited for Tavish’s story and to know more about him. We don’t get much background on him, sadly, but what we get was enough for some character development. Ellis was a surprise for me. I wasn’t expecting someone so…normal isn’t the right word lol. He’s so sweet and good. Very different from the rest of the gang.
It was so great seeing everyone, having Henry in all the text groups and, the biggest amazing surprise for me, there were a couple of chapters from Leland’s POV!
This was certainly I fun read.

3.5 stars rounded up. I am always happy to read anything Leland-adjacent.

This was action-packed, fun, humorous, and cute. Ellis was fucking adorable. Tavish didn’t do much for me either way but that’s okay. I didn’t really remember him from previous books. I probably would’ve liked him more if his backstory and character had been fleshed out a bit more.

At this point I kind of wish this author would stop writing sex scenes because they make me cringe so much…there also could’ve been a lot more romance here. Regardless, I enjoyed the story overall and got my Leland fix :)

Another hilarious escapade for the crazy gang

I hope this series never ends because I will never have enough of the craziness that is the Hitman crew and their insane adventures.

This one's Tavish's tale and his "meet/cute" with vet tech Ellis really is the most unlikely of all as he bashes his head against a dumpster while kidnapping him.

Things just get even more nuts from that point onwards and my face was aching from smiling and chuckling that much.

Michael Ferraiuolo does another great job. I will say that at times it was hard not to think of fat bastard from the Austin Powers series when he is doing Tavish and is talking about you think I'm sexy💀💀

The story was ok. Outlandish as usual. Always nice catching up with Leland and Castle. Castle is still my favorite hitman of the bunch 🤷🏽‍♀️The song at the end was a nice bonus. Well done lol

A Joyfully Jay review.

4 stars

The Mercenary’s Guide to Mishaps and Romance is the seventh book in Alice Winters’ Hitman’s Guide series. While most of the books focus on Leland and Jackson, this is one of a couple of books with different main characters. We met Tavish in the previous book, The Hitman’s Guide to Code Names and Ill-Gotten Gains, and Ellis appears to be a new character from what I can tell (though he is the vet tech where Jackson and Leland takes their dogs). Even though these are new main characters, this is very much an ensemble story and it is going to be best enjoyed by those familiar with the series. Winters has a lot of callbacks to prior books and adventures (the Fence is featured very prominently) and not a lot of it is explained for new readers. In fact, even having read all the books, there were references to events and characters I didn’t fully remember and I wished for a little more background here.

he found family aspect of these series is always one of the big draws for me and I enjoyed seeing the group expand with Tavish and Ellis as well.

It is so funny how in between books I can completely forget how absolutely crazy, kooky and hilarious this series can be. Granted, this kind of humor is definitely not for everyone, and I even think that jumping in at this point makes it even harder to understand. BUT......if you have been on this ride since the very beginning, you already know that it is one of the most original and unique storylines, with characters who are so crazy that you cannot help but fall in love with them.

In this book, we meet Ellis. Good, kind, thoughtful Ellis. Yep, just typing out those words makes you think, "what in the heck is he doing with these guys?" Seriously. His personality makes him an immediate outlier and when he just happens to fall in with most of the gang - he becomes the one thing that is not like the others.....

His other half ends up being Tavish -whom we have met before even though I do not remember him. Tavish is friends with Leland and Jackson and in the same line of work (IYKYK) and he unfortunately does not do his homework before catching sweet Ellis in his net. This is the catalyst that sets things off and craziness ensues for the rest of the book.

The fun thing about this particular story is that we get so much of the gang involved in the entire story and we even get POV's from Leland. We also get to hear from Henry - he is hilarious in the group texts. Throwing Ellis in the mix and having him be so NORMAL just shows how ummm......unusual..... this group of friends are.

This series ALWAYS makes me smile.

I listened to this on audio and this is definitely one of those series that is better to listen to versus read. Michael Ferraiuolo hits it out of the park with his narration. This one also has some extras after the story is over.

As usual, I can't wait for whatever is next :)

I generally enjoyed this one, even though I felt some of Tavish's story was sacrificed to an excess of Lealand and the fence. It's the usual shenanigans, non-stop nonsense, and the whole crew showing up to get the bad guys you would expect from the series. There's insta-love (the story spans just a few days) and things that make no sense but the introduction of Ellis almost made up for that.

With Ellis, we get someone completely removed from the Hitman world. He is an innocent caught up in someone else's scheme. He questions the absurdity of everything going on, even as he is overly polite and fairly willing to go along for the ride. Ellis was the standout character for me and I hope we'll see him again in an upcoming book that seemed to be set up here.

I did find myself laughing aloud a few times and enjoying things, but wish there was a bit more Tavish and Ellis relationship building and just a little less everything else.

Loved it 😍

Once again Alice Winters has written another classic fun filled tale full of laugh out loud moments, misadventures with villains and an Ellis who is the sweetest, kindest man with a huge heart leading a careful life. Until Tavish makes a bit of a miscalculation regarding Ellis causing so much upheaval that his once careful life becomes similar to the spin cycle of a washing machine. Tavish also makes Ellis feel like he could do anything thus making him a much stronger person. We also get to see firsthand the softer side of Tavish that Ellis brings out.
These two wonderful men find themselves involved in a very interesting and intriguing plot filled with unexpected twists and turns. A plot that they require assistance with so Leland, Jackson and co are quick to jump on board and embrace the mayhem that ensues. Although it does lead to Leland having to deal with emotions again and also using his supposed communication/telepathic abilities (unique facial expressions) to no avail!
I loved what I term the unusual minor characters called “The Cake”, “The Vase” and “The Ancient Fighting Spirit”. And I mustn’t forget “The Acknowledgments” which were the final LOL moment of this highly engaging and entertaining read. I’m smiling and giggling just remembering it all for this review!

I think this is where I call it quits with this one. This felt like an excuse to keep the Fence gag going and it felt like Bart's I didn't do it kid. The initial kidnapping was ridiculous but interesting. Jackson felt like Leland's agreeable plus one. I did like Cassel's part and the way they were all creeped out because of his kindness. The whole automatic adoption was sweet, but it was essentially Leland getting to cause trouble and steal the spotlight again. I didn't get any romance, more I'll take responsibility for the screw up. Jolene was cool.

It's been awhile since I'd read a book from this series (looking back it was about 8 months ago). And it took a minute to refresh my memory with some of the secondary characters. But once I remembered it was a delightful read. More than delightful. The author has a gift for just the right amount of snark and mayhem to be entertaining rather than overwhelming or annoying.

Tavish (so glad he got his own book) kidnaps a man (Ellis) who he believes is a wretched serial killer, only to find out he was mislead. Ellis, a mild mannered vet tech who is trying to put his difficult past behind him, finds himself carted off to an island by a strange scottish man who won't believe him when he says he's not a killer... until all hell breaks loose and then suddenly Tavish believes him.

The two develop the feels while running for their lives. Of course Leland is there for snark value, and my personal fav, Henry, makes an appearance.

Just finished listening and I will forever thank Michael Ferraiuolo for singing the murder song. We are treated to another version at the end as well as the acknowledgements. Perfect. Hilarious. Worth the price of the audio alone.

Tavish gets a man in the adorable and very sweet, Ellis. There might just be a misunderstanding when they first meet that leads to a lot of hijinks while they figure out just why Ellis was targeted in the first place.

I was delighted when I found out Tavish was getting his own book because he was a fun and sort of unwilling addition to the crew. If you love found family vibes where the family constantly roasts each other, then this is a winner.

Ellis has a connection to Leland and Jackson before they meet in this book, and Leland sort of adopts the vet tech. I really liked that though he was sweet, Ellis wasn't a pushover. He has principles but it willing to fight to protect those he cares about, which is lucky for Tavish, since he's one of those people.

Leland, of course, gets a few chapters of his own. He's still adjusting to fatherhood and letting out his softer side, ew, emotions, but he's grown so much!

There's so much action going on in this book and plenty of laughs. So much fun!

I hope we get a book for Micah at some point.

I love all the Hitman's guide series and its spin-offs. I reread them all the time, they make me happy. They're hilarious, over the top, the banter is amazing, and each character is always so peculiar you just can't help but loving them. Even Tavish after he appeared as the "villain" was already so much fun and I loved seeing him picking petty fights with Leland.
I'm so glad he found Ellis, a very innocent, happy and trustful guy, even when faced with an awful situation he persevered and protected what was important, be it a vase, a cake, Tavish or himself. I adored him!
I loved the little surprises Alice put in this book and I loved getting to know Tavish's past. I reallt hope we get to see the both of them a lot in future books!

This book was one of my most anticipated books of the year and it was perfect! I was hooked from page one and I couldn't put it down. It was full of action, funny banter, suspense and twists. And I just adored the romance. Tavish is such a fun character, he's a bit goofy but at the same time really tough and with a kind heart. And Ellis, my goodness, Ellis is simply precious. He's so compassionate and polite and he cares so much for everyone. I absolutely fell in love with him, he's a new favourite. Opposites attract and Tavish and Ellis were made for each other, a perfect match. I also really loved that we got a few chapters from Leland's pov, it's always entertaining to be in his head.
The scene at the escape room was hilarious. The parrot was adorable and Tavish trying to seduce people with his accent had me giggling.
Fantastic book, a great addition to the series. I didn't want it to end!

Excellent!

Just when I think this series can't possibly possibly get any better, along comes Tavish and Ellis to prove me wrong. I was hooked from page 1 and instantly adored Ellis. We start right off with the action, once again wonderfully woven together with hilarity, familiar faces we adore, the perfect amount of romance, and an intriguing mystery. I laughed out loud so many times, I flipped page after page captivated by the plot twists and turns, and I smiled at how adorable Ellis was as he embraced Tavish and his merry band of found family. I loved that we got a few chapters from Leland's POV, just the perfect amount to see more growth and emotion from him. The whole gang is back and just as fabulous as ever, but it did not overwhelm the sweet romance between Ellis and Tavish. It struck the perfect balance! I hope the author continues to bring us more from this world!

This book was okay, but the series has slowly lost its charm with each installment. The second book was the peak, and after that, the plots became unnecessarily overcomplicated. It was hard to keep up with all the villains and events, which felt exhausting rather than engaging.

I honestly thought this would be Micah’s book since he’s another of Lucas’s “children,” which fit the series’ theme. Instead, it focused on Tavish—a completely random guy who showed up a few books ago and spent most of his time trying to kill Leland from the sidelines.

Ellis was… interesting. He was so weak and pitiful that it actually made him funny and a complete contrast to everyone else in the group.

The highlight for me? Tavish crocheting—it was by far the cutest part of the book.

I loved this book from page 1 to the acknowledgements, just like I have every previous book in the Hitman series.

Tavish and Ellis were so damned adorable together, and I loved all the Leland POVs scattered in between.

Everyone in the Hitman gang is quirky in their own way, and I hope Everly and Micah will get their own stories some day too.

As for this book, it was full of adventures, comedy, Fence worship, knives, guns, tasers, and all the fun and laughs you'd expect from an Alice Winters book.

The amount of cameos we got in this book had me SCREAMING! It was so incredibly amazing to see everyone coming together as one big dysfunctional family again!
We got absolutely FED. Alice was giving us action and mystery with the most absurd amount of hilarious moments ever. Ellis is such a sweetheart; we finally FINALLY get someone who's "normal" in this chaotic group, and I'm so glad he got paired with Tavish. Because they work, Mr. Big and Strong with Mr. Sweetheart is always such a good combination.

This book was easy to read, filled with slapstick humour (my favourite), along with adventure and chaos. Who wouldn't love a tale of wild escapades, clever assassins who are really the heroes, daring feats of rescue, a mystery solved, and true love found? With just a little spiciness to round out the story.

The Mercenary's Guide to Mishaps and Romnce is a sweet and funny story that had me laughing out loud right to the end. A madcap delight.

Warning - don't read this book if you are uncomfortable with LGBTQIA2S relationships.

Another fantastic adventure from Alice Winters! I truly love this group of crazy men, and Ellis is such a fantastic addition. This book is packed full of actual laugh-out-loud moments, a delightfully crazy group of men, not stop action and some hot & steamy moments.

All that's missing is a warning label....

⚠️ Caution contents may cause snort laughing, drink spitting, and laughing at inappropriate and quiet moments.
