The Superfox

Rate this book
Wonder Woman look-alike Melissa Martin will do anything to hit a deadline, even if it means sending her team home to their families and facing the Atlanta Snowpocalypse alone in her marketing office. The last thing she expects is to find the office maverick, photographer Mark Ranger, haunting the art department to catch up on some work of his own. What starts as an innocent sledding escapade turns into an unexpected kiss hot enough to melt the snow, not to mention a strategically used ice cube Mark finds in the break room. As the blizzard rages outside, Lissa finds out what a half-Thor, half-Loki geek god wears under his kilt, while Mark discovers that under Lissa's intimidating facade, a passionate goddess awaits. When you're tied up with the Lasso of Truth, you can't deny your fantasies.

Hot and sexy read but admit I probably missed a lot of the Thor references since I'm clueless about that character.

Now admittedly anyone who knows me knows that "Thor" (at least insofar as Chris Hemsworth is concerned) doesn't do much for me looks wise. Loki though? Loki everything does everything for me so yes I was very much interested in this novella. Moreso because I found the first story, THE LUMBERFOX to be a fun, sexy and delightful read. I've read a few romances where "geeky" or "nerdy" is used to describe either one or both love interests and to be honest it rarely feels...genuine. Melissa though--I know people like her. People that will argue with you as much about HOW a geek-centric word is used as why it should be used over another one (Hothlanta? So much cooler then Snowpocalypse mmkay?).

As a couple Melissa and Mark are hot, their chemistry definitely off the charts and you can tell its not just because they both happen to find the other sexy. Mark's more relaxed attitude towards work and life (relaxed, but not lazy or unprofessional) is pretty much what Melissa needed. Their banter before, during and after their romantic escapades makes it clear neither is taking what they feel lightly, but are cautious enough to understand if its all "I'm here, you're here, hey we both like things!" sort of deal as well.

I do think some of the tension that occurs felt more superficial then in the first book. This was more of a common miscommunication error then it was 'wait let me make sure I'm not being blind' misgivings from THE LUMBERFOX, but Lovelace keeps it short lived. I did love the fact that Lovelace made sure another character got theirs--small details throughout and then the whammy at the end made it wonderfully fun.

You can read this in any order with the first book or with the next book (THE DAPPERFOX), the stories are interconnected only through the location (Atlanta...I mean Hothlanta) and shared geeky references. Winter is Coming indeed.

So a Thor/Loki hybrid guy and a Wonder Woman like heroine? I was so in from the moment I read the first sentence. Lissa is a fierce and awesome woman and Mark is a geek dream come true. The dialogue between the two is fun and picking out all of the various references is its own side game within the work.
But what really shines is the sexy interactions, playfulness and openess between the two characters. The scenes are hot (despite the setting of a snow storm) and you certainly get your bang (badumtish!) for your money here with the amount of steam and giggles this book generates.

Another Geekfest of awesomeness

I just wish I knew the author in person so I could hi 5 her. Ava does it againt turning a potentially boring scenario into something wickedly fun. With the right amount of kink she takes geekdom to its hottest of hots and Im reminiscing of geek erotica 1 and where the hell did i put my han? Read both 1 and 2 in less than a day and hungrier than a kilt clad photographer lusting after Wonder woman. More please!

In the last half year or so (it may actually have been longer, my memory is not what it once was) brilliant writer Delilah S Dawson has given away, or rather, placed at a price of exactly 0$, two erotic literature books by her alter ego Ava Lovelace: The Lumberfox and The Superfox.

It's not often that I read erotica. Which really means, I must have read it before, but I'd be hard pressed to remember anything but a couple of titles in Spanish within the genre. Still, free books are free books, so I decided to give them a try. And not only that, but I also agreed over Twitter to write a review of The Superfox. And promises are promises.

Mind me, not that it hurts or anything, because I did have a good time reading the books. Both are fun, short and sexy books. Is there sex? Yes there is: not as hardcore as one could imagine, but explicit sex nonetheless. But what makes these books attractive to me is the rest: the introspection of the female protagonists (a bit sex-focused as soon as the male appears, I have to agree), the buildup towards the sex scenes, the anticlimactic aftersex and apparent disappointment, and the makeup afterwards. All of that is as fun to read as the sex itself.

But ah, above it all there's this small detail: Geekrotica. Because, you see, the point in this new genre is that the female protagonists are geeks, who under certain snowy circumstances find themselves alone with the titular superhunks (the Lumberfox and the Superfox) who, in turn, turn out to be supergeeks as well. Don't believe me? The safe words are Wookiee and Mjölnir, just so you know. From then on, the sex game, the unresolved sexual tension -unresolved, that is, until it's satisfactorilly resolved- is tinted with so many great geek references that I am convinced I have missed some.

If all of that does not float your boat, they're still two short, funny and -did I mention it before?- sexy books. And if geeky turns you on, or you never thought it could, then it's a great extra.

Another super fun installment in this series!  I love smart heroines and Melissa Martin is smart and goal oriented.  Dedicated to her job, she stays behind at the office finishing a project due that day while her coworkers flee during a snowstorm.  Now stuck at the office during the storm, she happens to find a hunky and sexy photographer in the art department who was also working during the storm.  Did I mention he's wearing a kilt?

Ranger is sex appeal personified.  That may just be because anything involving a camera hits the spot for me, or the fact he's just fun to be around and doesn't take himself too seriously.  Swooning alert!  But he's had a crush from afar on the woman some consider a bitch.  She's tough and she shows it.  But Ranger is that one guy that can make her melt.  And maybe that includes making her melt all over the break room.  There's creative use of ice, props, rope and pictures.  You won't want to miss this one.

Again, this is so short.  Why must you do this Ms. Lovelace!  We want these to be longer!  Even though this had a lot of the same type of jokes as the first book in the series, in a way, it was still so enjoyable.  THE SUPERFOX is packed with sexy and a good time.  Just wished it could've been a little longer.

The Superfox is a little bit longer, a little bit edgier, and a little bit pop-culture-reference-ier than the Lumberfox, the first story in Lovelace's Geekrotica series. Like the Lumberfox, it's set during this winter's Snowpocolypse in Atlanta, this time with the characters snowed in at work. Melissa is a project manager on a deadline who thinks she's alone in the office until she stumbles on enigmatic photographer Mark. The two have immediate chemistry, but they build up to the big event with their comic-infused banter. The author does a good job making the characters, and the sex, real and believable.

The superhero references start flowing right away, but as long as you've seen The Avengers I wouldn't worry too much about getting lost. Though some X Men might help too. My favorite movie reference though (maybe ever) was one that had nothing to do with superheroes. I'll let you spot it for yourself.

I think the charm of this series comes from making subjects that are often intimidating accessible. Erotica makes a lot of people nervous. So does geek culture. People are afraid of being judged either for knowing too much or for not knowing enough about each one. Somehow combining the two makes them both more relatable. If you're undecided about either subject, give Geekrotica a try. It's a lot of fun for very little investment of either time or money.

I won this book in an online contest.

Another awesome read in this series. It's only the 2nd one, but this is my fave. I am loving this series. This one ramped up the scorchio and did not disappoint, who could resist Mark the kilt wearing half-Loki, half-Thor.

I do wonder if I'm the only one reading these stories who keeps expecting someone to say 'Bazinga' at some point. Probably just me, but there ya go.

My only criticism so far, is that we get a 'moment in time' and I would like to see an epilogue with what happened next, or an indication that their stories continue in other books. You know the thing, did they stay together, what actually happened to the accountant etc. Oooh, oooh, oooh, just got an awesome idea:

Anyhoo bottomline just go ahead and buy this book, and settle yourself in for a bloody good time. You won't be disappointed, and if you are "what the hell is wrong with you?".

Melissa (aka Lissa) Martin is stuck at work during Atlanta's Snowpocalypse. Thinking she was on her own, she wandered around the office only to find a sexy photographer, Mark Ranger. Mark is described as a cross between Thor and Loki in a kilt. The two quickly team up and go sledding on a Captain America shield and by the time they are back inside things have heated up between them.

The Superfox is novella length, with bits of geekdom intertwined. I'm happy to see that the cover of this book is more appealing than book one. Though I didn't really have a problem with the first book's cover, it felt a bit dated (ie 70's - 80's). I felt like Lissa was easy to relate to, since she's a hard working woman, and I was happy to see she got to let her hair down and be herself around someone like Mark. Though they did have a bump in the road near the end of the novella the story was pretty straight forward. For fans of Delilah Dawson, you're in luck, Ava Lovelace is her pen name for the Geekrotica series.

I read this and "The Lumberfox" and so. FUN! You'll get the most out of them if you're into geeky stuff, but I believe they're truly enjoyable even for the uninitiated.

Enjoy superheroes and The Avengers? You'll probably get a kick out of this one, which is just as quirky in geekdom tone as "The Lumberfox," but with the addition of an eh-vul plot bunny that came to be (admittedly, I did not care for it, and the thing kind of grosses me out, way way way beyond true justice LOL). There must be a term to describe being turned on when the kilt-donned hero gives the alpha heroine the power to choose the next route through…candies. Again, the playfulness of the couple's interactions is entertaining. Also, while I'm not a fan of conflicts born from miscommunication, this one keeps it short (like, one closed door later, everything's peachy again).

If pop culture references revs your engine, give it a whirl.

Delilah S. Dawson's indie-publishing alter ego, Ava Lovelace, gives us another erotic story featuring two geeky characters. In this one, Wonder Woman look-alike Melissa has a run in with company photographer and Thor-resembler Mark when the two are stranded at work during a snow storm. Sledding, attraction, sex, and many geeky references ensue.

This story is cute and very sexy. It's short (it occurs over one night), but well written. And even though we are only getting to see these characters first (hot!) meeting, I thought the story ended in a very strong Happily For Now.

I'm enjoying this Geekrotica series very much.

He's got the Chris's covered...

This was the second book in the series and while it wasn't as good as the first, I still got some good laughs from it.

The references to geek stuff in this one were not as familiar but I was still able to understand most of the jokes and comments about The Avengers, Thor, Loki and The Matrix.

I liked this story and I'm sure that I will be looking for more from this author.

Boy howdy, how do I find a man like Mark Ranger?! This is a scorching hot read, chock full of geek references, with just a little bit of BDSM.

Best line: "You can take the girl out of the geek panties, but you can't take the geek out of the girl."

Not safe for work. ;)

Hotter than The Lumberfox, and not just because the dude wore a kilt, though that didn't hurt. The Superfox had more humor, and a MC that was strong and assertive. All around great set-up, characters and well-written sex scenes. Looking forward to the next one.

Fabulous, funny, with just a hint of revenge. The perfect geekrotica for those geek girls who can't decide between Thor and Loki. This hero's got the best of both!

So much fun! Could use a bit of editing help though. She called the main character, Melissa, Alyssa at one point. Luckily it was almost at the end so it didn't take me too out of the story.

Another fun, sexy novella from Ava Lovelace, otherwise known as Delilah S Dawson. Perfect for a quick and easy palette (brain!) cleanser and about all my brain can cope with at the moment.
