DumpED is a powerful and compassionate story about a young girl navigating the complexities of her family and mental health. While centered around an eating disorder, the themes are widely relatable to anyone who has experienced hospitalization or walked through a difficult diagnosis. Although it’s geared toward young adults, I’m recommending it as a therapist not only to children and families, but also to adults who are on their own path to healing. I would love to see more work from this author—her voice is needed.

Excellent read for those who enjoy YA fiction and those interested in real world application. The book is easy to read without triggers for those who could be negatively impacted. It is highly applicable to parents of tweens and teens who may not realize the impact of their choices on their children. The discussion guides at the end are perfect for any coaches, teachers or youth workers. A valuable resource.
